I began working with Shannon Miller almost a year before we signed a contract for him to build our house. We had to have Duke Energy move a right of way and a power line on our lot which they were reluctant to do and they dragged their feet at every step. Shannon met me at the lot we were considering on numerous occasions to discuss what was feasible and what wasn’t. It would be fair to say that he put in at least 20 hours of his time to guide us through that process and also to help us understand the process of building a house, something we had never done before. We did not receive a bill for his time and he seemed happy to help. We were so impressed by this that we hired him.Best decision ever. To say the Shannon is patient, is an understatement. I am the type of person who likes to understand the why and how of almost every detail, and Shannon was great about answering all of my many questions. Never did I see even a glimpse of annoyance from what must have been some annoying questions. Also important to me was that he answered my phone calls, usually immediately. We had some very new and state of the art bathroom fixtures (my husband’s business) and he was willing and able to learn these new things.When we broke ground, Shannon estimated that the process would take 9 – 10 months, and it did! After a very rainy winter which held us back some, in the end, we were scurrying to get it all finished in time for the family reunion that we had planned for my 94 year old father and 92 year old mother. Shannon and his crew worked their tails off to get our final certificate of occupancy just in the nick of time.Shannon was very good about helping us keep costs down and made numerous suggestions for cost savings throughout the process. This is despite the fact that these suggestions resulted in less profit for him. I really appreciated that.In the end, we have maintained a relationship with Shannon whereby we can call him to do side jobs such as adding landscape features that we find that we need as we go along. I have met at least a dozen people in the area who have used Shannon to build their homes and without exception; every single one has nothing but praise. The men and subcontractors who work for him were also exemplary. One time one of them told me “Shannon will never say no to you”, which I’m sure isn’t true but it seemed like it was.I cannot recommend Shannon enough. I’ve heard so many stories of people who hate their builders by the end of the process, and unless you’re an unreasonable person, I can’t imagine that happening to you.

Miller Homes built a home for me in 2018. They did an outstanding job for me and my family - on time and on budget. They leverage some of the best tradesmen out there in terms of quality and really care about the project. My personal thanks to Shannon and the entire Miller Homes crew - we love our house!
