I was in need of new front and rear brakes, pads & rotors. I emailed Tuffy to inquire about an estimate and I received a reply in very short order. I made an appointment for the next day and was promptly met by Ken who wrote up my order and get the job under way. I waited on site for the job to be done and Ken kept me updated as to the progress throughout the process. Ken and his staff were very professional and knowledgeable. The center was clean and inviting. the job was done on time and for the amount I was quoted. I would highly recommend Tuffy on Rocky River Rd!

I had the BEST experience at the rocky river location. The receptionist, Stephanie, was kind and courteous and honest about everything she knew. The manager, Mike, went above and beyond to help me with my Altima. I loved the constant communication and how fast I was able to get in and out! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! My heater core was in need of replacement, this shop is located in my neighborhood, so I dropped my vehicle off and included an oil change. I received a text stating the vehicle was not leaking fluids and was ready for pick up. The following day heading home on interstate 85, my vehicle over heated, causing me to need a tow. I contacted Tuffy the following day and spoke directly with Michael. Explained what occurred & asked what services were performed. Michael stated that his technician was on vacation & he would follow up once he returned. Once the technician returned and explained that the heater core hose was not replaced, but repaired. Michael also stated that I was not charged for the repair (Not replacement of said hose). Which (BTW) costs $1.35!. I asked why did he not pick up the phone & inquire if I wanted replacement as opposed to repair of the hose. After following up with customer service (Rachel Winterfeld) & the owner Michael Williams, it was clear that Tuffy had taken the stance of no responsibility. The statement I received from the owner was that (They repaired the hose, out of the kindness of their hearts). That Kindness of their hearts and a $1.35 hose, costs me a $175.00 tow charge & stranded on 85. The nasty, condescending, combative & confrontational behavior displayed by customer service (Rachel Winterfeld) & the owner (Michael Williams), leads me to know this has happened frequently at this establishment. So I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. If you want to receive sub-standard automobile services & patch jobs, this would be your place. Moving forward & even in a pinch. I will make it my business to take my automobiles to reputable establishments only!. Leadership starts at the top. If I could give this place no stars I would.

PLEASE PLEASE do not use them if you value your vehicle!!!!!!! I use them for my push around vehicle since 2013 so I valued the service until my vehicle was stolen from their location on Rocky River Road. The manager Mike and that owner from Rock Hill did not take responsibility, I had to pay my own towing fees where the vehicle was towed and stored, I had to pay for the vehicle to be towed to my house and I had to pay for the days it was at the towing company because they did not communicate with me very well, I got one text message from the owner! However both the manager and owner insinuates I stole my own vehicle so they decided to end the conversation with me leaving me responsible for all cost due to their improper overnight storage. By the way the keys and the plastic work up slip was all in the car when it was recovered.

We were returning home from an outpatient surgery when we became stranded with a dead battery in a drug store parking lot near this Tuffy location. Store owner Mike came immediately to our rescue, providing a no-cost, no obligation jump start - allowing us to get home promptly. When I returned later in the afternoon to purchase a new battery, the owner met me at the service bay entrance, and he and a tech got me in-and-out super fast. This experience was customer service at its best!

I have used Tuffy on Rocky river road this past year more than I would have liked to. Between my car, my wife’s car and both my daughters cars. They all had different issues and tuffy fixed them all! The manager Mike was very professional and courteous. His estimates were right on and got no surprises. I will continue to bring my cars to tuffy.

The owner(Michael Williams) has responded to the review of my 77 Grand Prix. When the vehicle came to him it was in need of a heater core. When replacing a heater core a good mechanic also changes & inspects any damage of hoses. This is a simple job and one of the easiest vehicles to work on. The vehicle has no computers, special instructions, etc. Just a pull & replace, additionally my vehicle is in pristine condition. Mr. Williams, while seeming apologetic in his response. Glossed over the fact that he stated that he, his business nor his technician will take responsibility for having me stranded on the side of the road on interstate 85 @ 11PM in the evening. He stated (in his response) that he would have gladly taken the vehicle back and fixed the problem his technician caused. But the reality in the conversation was a Nasty, Combative, Confrontational, Condescending and Unprofessional business owner!. At no time during the screaming and yelling, did he state that he would rectify the problem or re-imburse me for the $175.00 tow. So in essence, it sounds nice & cute to respond as if he will fix what his business caused. But the reality is this establishment is ill- equipped and unable to properly work on any vehicle, much less a 1977 vehicle. Its sad and shameful that this has happened to many individuals. Just read the reviews and see for yourself. Save yourself the heartache and your wallet or pocketbook & take your vehicle to a reputable establishment, youll thank me in the end!. Trust Me!.Additionally in response to the owners response (Michael Williams). The parts you claim have a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty, is nice. The part (Heater Core), that I provided has a lifetime warranty on it and not once have you stated to make me whole in this situation (which left me stranded on interstate 85 @ 11PM in the evening). To wish me & my family the best moving forward is an insult!. It doesnt solve the inadequate services provided and furthermore you do not know me and my family. So lets not play semantics here, the right thing to do was to change ALL relevant hoses when performing services, not talk down to customers in the unprofessional, combative, confrontational tone you use daily!. On top of the (yelling and screaming). You should rectify the problem, ie; towing charge (which left me stranded on interstate 85 @ 11PM in the evening), due to not replacing a $1.35 hose!. Furthermore, this is not about feelings, this is about good business practices which you did not provide. Leadership starts at the top and it was not provided here in this instance. I wouldnt trust this facility with my bicycle, much less an automobile, moving forward.

I have been coming to the Tuffy on Rocky River Road located in Charlotte, NC since I moved to the area about 3 years ago. Each time that I have had my vehicles serviced here they have made me feel like nothing less than family, even as management and employees have switched out. They make sure to thoroughly inspect every issue and not only fix that issue, but they do a great job of separating what services should be completed immediately versus what services can wait a little longer. This type of service stands out to me because it shows they care about the customer, not just the money. Each Tuffy employee, including management, takes the time out to speak to/greet us waiting in the lobby no matter how busy they are. I would highly recommend everyone from management down to the techs received some type of recognition, even if it is miniscule. I was not asked or prompted to leave this review, nor do I expect anything as a result of it. I just feel that the level of customer satisfaction that this shop provides deserves some type of recognition.I also think its noteworthy that Tuffy has a military discount, as I am a retired Army veteran. Many autoshops in this area do not offer that to us veterans. So I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for that as well!

They are amazing. I was on 485 heading home when tire light came on. I watched tire pressure go down as I was getting near my exit. Pulled off highway and turned into Tuffys on Rocky River exit 36. Told them something wrong with tire and I had my 5 year nephew with me. I was worried about his safety. I only had to go about 2 miles to house. Mickey pulled tire off and plugged it. Tread was very low and not in best shape. Said it would get me home safe but do not keep driving on it. Then, amazingly, they would not charge me for this. They were also concerned about my nephew in the car. Told me to get him home safe. Thank you guys so much for your generosity. This is a place that deserves our business. So Im headed back over to get 4 new tires. Thank again Tuffys!!!!

Tuffy did a full synthetic diesel oil change, tire rotation and lubricated my front end. They did the work promptly but the invoice was $226.53 for the oil change out the door. This total was inclusive of a $15 off coupon they mailed me as they refused to use the full synthetic oil change coupon for $54.95 even though it made no mention of being invalid for diesels (I would have paid the difference in oil cost anyway for the additional quarts required). I questioned the receptionist on the cost but she was un knowledgeable. Tuffy charged me $179 for the oil itself, not counting the filter or labor. 12 quarts of oil doesn’t cost $179.....or anywhere close to it. I got home and called back to speak with the Manager as my prior invoices from elsewhere were much less and he wouldn’t budge. 30 minutes later he texted me that my next oil change would be 40% off. But that doesn’t help now. I called the Ram Concord dealer and they do the same oil change for $129.99 (plus tax etc).Also, oil was leaking in a small puddle on my driveway so they did a sloppy job.

I brought my Caravan to Tuffy because I thought the alternator was bad and I needed the rear brakes replaced and the serpentine belt checked. It turned out that the battery was my problem. The battery was barely a year old and had been purchased at Auto Zone. It had a 3 year free replacement warranty so Mitch, the service manager, called Auto Zone and got them to replace the battery for free and then Mitch did not charge me anything for that service. I would call that way above and beyond. The other service work was also to my complete satisfaction. I would recommend this Tuffy to anyone who needs auto service. My hat is off to Mitch and the Tuffy crew.

Ive been going to Tuffys for five years now and I honestly wouldnt take my car anywhere else for repairs. Every time Ive come here the employees have always been kind and helpful towards me even when I brought my car in for a tire alignment an hour before they closed two years ago. The customer service at Tuffy Tire & Auto Service was exceptional! It was my first time there. I went to repair a tire in which I was informed my dealer I had a nail in it. Michael, the owner, informed me I had no nail. I appreciated his honesty, as most automotive repair shops are not honest. Michael changed my engine filter and in cabin microfilter in less than an hour, and the cost was half than what Infiniti Dealer was charging me. Tuffy Tire has earned a new customer. Thank you MIchael and team for being awesome and honest.

I needed an oil change, also I asked them to check why the engine light was on. I have a chevy cruse lt 2016, they did the oil change and diagnosed the oil gasket was leaking. They fixed it and gave me a warranty of 2 years for all the repairs they did on my car. Great Jobs!

Pay the full price and Go to Firestone or the dealership instead. At least they honor all of there jobs no matter what. Bought Kelly tires from tuffy auto. Turns out all the wasted money I spent trying to fix the vibration, rough riding and bouncing issue on my 2008 impala was from the cheap kelly tires I bought from tuffy that still cost $500. I called today and asked could we work sometime out and they refused to help. Then on top of that when I let tuffy fix my flat they said my struts was bad, that was the reason for the handling issue I was having. I took my car to Chevy and they said my struts was fine. Looks like tuffy tried to get me for a $1000 strut job when the problem was they was trying to cover up for there cheap tires they sold me and steal more money. This place made me change my whole front end out because I thought nothing could be wrong with my new tires....... 11-3 doesnt matter if they was bought in 2016 Im telling the people I had trouble fixing the vibration issue on this car since your tires were put on my car. Your missing the point your company cost me 1000s in front end repairs, balancing and alignments when it was the tires the whole time those tires made my car ride like a tractor trailer that I drive at work. Firestone put the wrong brakes on my lady truck and tried to cover it up I called them out about the black dust all over her rim one year later and they covered it. I see you didnt address the strut issue that Chevy said nothing was wrong with. if I was not working on my transmission I would have picked up on the problem faster. Also Since were calling one another out I took my 2015 impala up there for a brake light and they blew another bulb trying to change one. Then they quit and said they could not figure out how to change my bulb out and so I had to take the car to Chevy and pay them for two bulbs. New model cars go to the dealer or firestone or pay the cost like I did when i thought i was saving time.

I came in for an oil change because I had a coupon, had just bought out my lease and needed a good place close to home that wasnt a dealership. From the beginning Tammy (service manager) and Lindsay (front desk) were both so friendly and introduced themselves. They took care of my oil change and some dirty sir filters at a reasonable price. A couple days later my check engine light was on. I brought it back and they went above and beyond to tell me that what was wrong was covered under warranty. They suggested I take it to the dealership to get it fixed at no charge. The dealership has not been accommodating but Tammy has been helping walk me through steps to take to try to get this handled. The mechanic Derrick took the time to come out and talk to me about the code they were seeing as well. These people are like friends now!I appreciate all they have done to help! Thank you!

Tuffy just saved me $4,000! Did I mention Tuffy saved me $4,000? How? By being some awesome bad-*explicative* mutha-*explicative* but I guess being honest and knowledgeable didn’t hurt either. So, I came in with an engine misfire code and the Service Guru there, Mitch, tells me that he’ll get it fixed with 6 new spark plugs and coils. The light is still on afterwards. Before I go further, its important to note that this is an old Caravan and knew it could potentially be the end of the road for the van. Since they couldn’t clear the light, THEY CHARGE NOTHING! I offer to pay for something, diagnostic, labor, anything, but NOTHING - they refuse my money. They explain its probably the head and I understood cause hey, it had a good life at 115k. But my man Mitch did some digging and found out that the Pentastar engine has an extended warranty and it might be worth it to call them. And with that nugget of info, Tuffy had saved my car because IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY! The dealership would go on to essentially rebuild the engine, with a new head, gasket, everything. I did have to pay for camshafts but got over $3,000 of work on top of the work that Tuffy put in for free. $4,000 FREE because Tuffy wanted to go above and beyond. You might think this is a one-off but they have been my go to for years and are always prompt and professional. I might be a stranger on the internet but let me be a friend and recommend Tuffy for all you car needs! Also I never write reviews so this should count as two.

Awesome experience! Desk manager and mechanic were both great and explained everything about my service in detail. They were able to get me in and out of there very quickly. The waiting area is clean and comfortable with TV, coffee and tea, free Wifi and restrooms. Their prices are exceptional. Its obvious that this location goes above and beyond to please its customers. Im so glad I started coming here. They have always been able to work me in or have an appointment time available for some work to be done. Their prices are very competitive and everyone has been very friendly. They even brought me back to show me what needed to be done with my car, you really feel like you can trust them with what they say and do. Thats a huge point with an auto shop. Did a quick state inspection and also checked my alignment. Showed me it was out of alignment and fixed it on the spot. Best part was they didnt force me into making the decision to get it fixed or force other fixes on me that I didnt ask about like some other shops will do. Will always be going to them from now on!

Low tire sensor for a few days. I topped it off and it seemed fine. Low and behold right before leaving for a quick trip, sensor came back on. Tuffy is super close and decided to go by and have the tire checked, plugged if possible, or just get another tire. 2 nails In the tire. Decided on a new tire. They got us in immediately and had us on the road in an hour. They were very nice and treated all of their customers with respect. Definitely going back and will definitely recommend to friends. I was in a bind with a screw in my tire at 5:40pm and I called this Tuffy asking if they would be able to squeeze me in before 6pm to remove the screw and patch up my tire. They were so amazing and sweet! They fixed my car within 15 minutes and were absolutely amazing! The price was also awesome!

I recently went to Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center to get an alternator for my 2004 Mustang. I was impressed by the customer service I was given. I saw that there was new people that took it over and the service was so much better than the last time I was there. They provided me with shuttle service to and from my home, which made waiting on my car so much easier, as I had alot to do and didnt have to wait there on my car. It didnt take as long as last time either. They were very pleasant. Great service! Very much improved! Thanks.

I have been visiting this Tuffy shop for about a year with our cars for routine maintenance. The staff has always been professional and friendly. This is the best shop I have found in the Harrisburg/Mint Hill area. The best thing to do is set up an appointment with them over the phone. They have always got me in and out quickly with appointments. I have done a few walk-ins and they will give you a yes, or no and schedule you an appointment. The other thing I like about this shop is that they sell you the things you need, and dont hassle you with the extra stuff that doesnt need fixed or repaired yet. Save your money and stop visiting the dealerships that charge $70 for a conventional oil change. Also as a plus, they have updated their waiting room with new leather chairs, new TV, and a new Keurig. Come visit Kip and Michael!

I was in Mooresville headed to Harrisburg and I called and spoke to Latisha over the phone to see if they would be able to get me in as a walk-in. She took me in at 5:15pm with no negative attitude and no pressure selling. Heck she even smiled! The guys in the back were dressed professionally and deeply concentrating on their work. I had a nail in a tire on my Tahoe and called to see if I could get it fixed while I waited and was told to bring it right in. I walked in and said I had called and they put a tech right on it. In less than 10 minutes, he had fixed the tire and I went to check out and the cashier told me I was ready to go at no charge. I will be taking my Honda Accord there to have some work done on it. I believe I have found where I want to get all my vehicle repairs done! Very satisfied!

If your looking for a shop that does great work, is reliable, fast, and most of all honest and does what they say, look no further.Pay no attention to the negative reviews, as most of them are from the previous management, who was pretty bad. Since the new manger, Brian, has taken over its done a 180 degree turn. Brian and his techs are fantastic to deal with and consistently go above and beyond.Im quite picky about who works on my vehicles and have high standards, but every time Ive gone to Brian, the job has been done faster, cheaper, and better than anywhere else. They consistently under promise and over-deliver, often having the job done quicker than they quoted.I once had a job that everywhere else quoted me $2200 and a week in the shop, and these guys did it for $800 in two days. And they even drove me home when I dropped it off!If you need a shop to rely on and trust to be your go-to, this is it. Give em a chance, youll be glad you did.

On my most recent visit to Tuffy, I learned my engine had rod knock and would need to be replaced.With this tough diagnosis... a couple of the mechanics started doing some research and found my 2013 Sonata had a potential recall on it that would be covered.3 weeks later after going to the Hyundai dealership, my car has a brand new engine thanks to the recall.I probably would have gotten the new engine regardless... but the guys at Tuffy being empathetic to me being told my car was pretty much useless without a new engine and their drive to try find a solution was awesome.Id definitely recommend Tuffy to anyone looking for honest mechanics.

Just a quick update October 2019. This location is under new management (Kip and Co.) as of about 4 months ago and service and quality of work have skyrocketed again. (There was quite a dip after Mike retired and I stopped sending folks here.) They (lead tech) did a timing belt/water pump job for me in ~3 hours the other day with notice only the evening before. Superb work, really nice guys/gals, and fair pricing. Whats not to like?!?!(~2017) Ive known Mike for years through inspections on my vehicles. I do nearly all of my own vehicle work but didnt have the time for two axles recently. They did the work with an hours notice and finished over two hours early. Fair price. Great work. No damage to the car, something most cant claim! Mike and his team are highly recommended. I wouldnt take my car anywhere else!

I have had vibration problems in my Odyssey that dealer couldnt figure out the root cause. They kept recommending wheel alignment which didnt solve the problem. Tuffy mechanic was quick point out one of my tires was a wrong size causing the issue. They didnt charge me for the diagnosis. Good customer and honest work.

Ive been to Tuffy several times for maintenance on my vehicle. Although its always been a long wait for an oil change and inspection, Mike was friendly and I realize it sometimes takes a while, and nobody likes to wait for maintenance on a vehicle. This time when I took it in, there was somebody else working the front check-in. I felt like I was insignificant. I stood there for what seamed like a very long time before he even acknowledged me standing there. He was busy on the computer and couldnt even say Ill be right with you. I considered walking back out and leaving. I had a 9:00 a.m. appointment for an oil change and inspection. I left at 12:00 p.m. Waiting a long time isnt fun, but I understand its sometimes necessary. The part that bothers me is not the long wait, but the fact that I felt like he didnt even want to acknowledge me standing there right in front of him. Never a Hi or Ill be right with you. That might not seem important to some people, but it did to me. I will probably go back in the future because its close to me and I have no complaints about the service. I just hope they will work on their customer service and realize that the customer is important and that if they dont feel important they may not want to come back again.

If I could give a negative star I would!! They dont deserve any stars. The mechanics do not know what they are doing and the manager is just as bad. They lied and told me that I didnt need transmission work and suggested I let them take my car to there other location. They fixed something on my car that never needed fixing. Come to find out I needed another transmission and they did not want to give me a refund once they found out they were wrong. BEWARE do not take your car to this place!!!

My husband and I are honored to give a review about this company, our car just broke down during a very low time, and having used this shop before, it was convenient for us to go back and see Mr. Michael .Need I say, besides his professionalism, he was Jovial and respectful to all who walked in. He managed to use the warranty on a part that he previously purchased for our car, which absolutely saved us money we sure didnt have, as if that was not enough there was supposed to be $30.00 balance that we had to bring back and he scratched it off. Before we left i commented on how well he has raised his son Chris, and he immediately gave all the credit to his wife. (Chris Mom). Mike and his Tuffy mechanics have been my families only mechanic for over 5+ years. He has never done us wrong in any way. He is very fair when it comes to pricing and will never tell us something needs to be done if it doesnt. Both my sister and I have been going here for years, and we have always had outstanding service from friendly staff members. The prices are very reasonable, especially with coupons. They go above and beyond -- and dont look for additional ways to charge you. For example, when I first purchase my used van, the oil cap was sealed on -- though I didnt know this when I purchased it. Tuffy ordered a special tool to safely remove the sealed cap, and did not charge me any additional fees. This earned my trust!

I visited Tuffy because my low tire pressure light was on & off for about a week. The mechanic inspected my vehicle. I was told that I needed a new tire..... the front passenger. I was quoted at $169 for ONE tire. I declined & said I would be going elsewhere. I left & within an hour my rear passenger tire went completely flat while driving. It looks as if the tire was stabbed with an object. I dont believe that it was coincidental. If that tire had a problem, the mechanic wouldve detected it. I would never take my vehicle here again & would advise all of my friends and family members to do the same. Beware!

Yikes.... I brought my car there when the new ownership took over for a quick oil change, I sat in the lobby for 2 and half hours. When they gave my car back they did apologize and gave me $20 off and said they didnt have my filter in and needed someone to bring it. I just wish they had told me so I could have had someone pick me up. I brought my husbands car there and they said it needed new breaks and rotors front and back and that it would be $800 ($399/axle) we called some other places and got quotes and everywhere was significantly less. Then we brought it to Brakes & Allignment and they said we didnt need it at all for the back and didnt need it for the front for another couple thousand miles. Then I brought my car for an oil change the next day back to the Tuffy and it was returned to me with the check engine light on (which was not on when I dropped it off). They do have really good oil change prices and the lady in the office is really sweet but all in all they have lost our business.

Beware of this place!!! Majority of recent positive reviews have been made by the staff in order to combat the numerous negative reviews since new ownership and management started in June. Their business plan is very high pressure and they try to scare you or push you into buying things that you really dont need or making your very simple problem more complicated than it really is in order to dig deeper into your pockets. All they care about is their bottom line and have no sense of what owning a local business really means.. If -0(-zero) was a choice that would be exactly what I would give. After numerous quotes for a simple brake job Tuffy was chosen because it was a neighborhood repair shop.WOW what a mistake. After watching customer after customer being charged outrageous prices my turn came. All of a sudden every employee in the shop surrounded my vehicle and the most ridiculous price was stated. I gave it ONE star & thats being generous !!! I went in yesterday for a simple oil change. The place was NOT busy at the time. I should have known I was at the WRONG place when at the counter...as I was giving the clerk my information and while doing so I removed the key from my key ring to give it to him...he said...I didnt ask for the key & Ill let you know when I need it. Now....On to the issue. Shortly after I came in another customer (lady) came in for service. 10-15 mins after she came in another customer (man) came in and asked the same clerk that helped me if a tire could be put on a rim. 10-15 MORE minutes passed when the lady said...I wonder whats taking so long. I told her well....Ive been watching my truck sit up in the air on that lift for 15 minutes and NOBODY is doing ANYTHING to it. Theyre ALL over there at the tire changing station taking care of that customer that came in long after WE came in. She then opened the door...asked for her keys & left. She said....guess I should have brought in a tire if I wanted good service. Once the clerk....who I believe is named MIKE..came back in to check me out I immediately voiced my displeasure of how I was treated & the lady too. His reply to me.....among OTHER choice words....was if you were in a hurry you should have said so and next time you need to take your vehicle to JIFFY LUBE instead of a car repair/maintenance center. I said... Corporate will be hearing from me and EVERY other person I run into. He said....I AM CORPORATE !!! You know.........I just moved to the area and was looking for a local..honest..& good service center to take care of OUR (6) vehicles. Guess Ill keep looking.
