Love The Zoo! Tried a few gyms around the Charleston area throughout the years and the Zoo has far exceeded my expectations. The fitness classes they offer are awesome and all of the instructors have been so helpful and inviting! Was so nervous to get my butt back in the gym and their team has made it so easy and motivating! Thank you guys!

Great place!! Super small but somehow never busy. Great machines and free weight selection. Heard they might put in a turf strip with a sled which would be awesome. All together great place to workout.

Pretty good gym. Diverse equipment available from functional fitness to strength training to standard cardio. A little small, unfortunately. Which leads to crowding quickly

This is one of those best kept secrets in Charleston. The owners and employees are so friendly and always ready to help. Mallorie is by far the BEST fitness trainer in Charleston. I moved my membership from Planet Fitness last year.

Not recommended! Membership registration is very simple. But canceling membership will make you crazy. Do not recommend it! !

I joined the zoo and enjoyed my time but after moving out of the area I cancelled my membership. All of a sudden months later I began receiving bills from them. I called anticipating a refund and they refused to do so. I am very disappointed in upper management for their poor costumer service.

Great place to work out

I really enjoy working out here. Everyone is very friendly and there is no judging. They have a great schedule of classes as well as plenty of machines and weights. Theres also a good amount of free space for working with the personal trainers they have available.Its always clean and never too crowded since they are almost always open.I also love that they have childcare available!Bottom line: Its a great gym! You cant go wrong here.

Management is professional, helpful and always available. The facility is clean, the exercise equipment in great repair, and I love watching Netflix on the machines.

Did a drop in workout here while visiting Charleston and it was exactly what we could have hoped for! Clean gym with plenty of equipment for even the most avid gym-goer. If you’re looking for a gym to join or just drop-in to, I’d highly recommend! Plus, the staff was super friendly!

I havent been to a gym since 2008, so having a local health club only ten minutes from home, was a great incentive to get back into things. The enrollment fee discount didnt hurt either. Im trying to get back in running shape so that I can complete the Cooper River Bridge Run without passing out halfway up the bridge, but with the weather weve had lately, I needed somewhere inside that I could use a treadmill, build up my cardio stamina, and pump a little iron without my kids laughing at me in the living room.I was referred by a friend and walked in for a quick tour. Fern walked me around the facility and answered all of my questions, and then I signed up shortly after the tour. They offer classes and kid-sitting too, but I went for the basic membership out the door, and am very happy with it so far. Never too busy that you feel like you cant get to the equipment, at least the hours that I go. Speaking of hours, theyre open all 24 of them, so if I cant sleep at night or get up early and everyone at home is still snoring, I can sneak out and run a few miles.Located right behind Kohls on the Glenn McConnell, its a convenient in and our for a quick workout.

The Zoo Fitness of Charleston is absolutely amazing. A nice clean facility I would encourage anyone in Charleston to try out.

Good gym, lacking equipment for your core. Staff is ok, the ladies are nice, dudes a bit unfriendly. We tried to cancel our membership a couple times, took all necessary steps within the proper timeframe, and still go charged for the 13th month in my 12 month contract. When I called for the third time, I was advised it wasn’t properly cancelled bc I “need to email them.”Edit: they fixed the issue.

Clean and equipment is in great shape

I can’t speak for the quality of the facility. When I got this membership I had every intention of going. However life happens and bottom line is, I don’t go. So, I tried to cancel my membership and they won’t. Or so I thought. Turns out that they legally can’t because they have already been paid. I got a phone call letting me know that when you sign a contract with the zoo, you are not actually signing a contract with the zoo. Instead you are signing a loan agreement with a bank. The bank pays them the full cost of the membership for an entire year, and you repay the bank. If you do not pay, then guess what?!, you get a freakin judgement against you and have to go to court.This was not discussed with me when I signed what I was told was a contract. I promise you I wouldn’t have signed anything knowing it was a loan as I am trying to repair my credit. This should be a mandated full disclosure upon signing. Read the fine print people, because the owners sure won’t tell you things that may potentially cause you to not sign up for their gym. What makes things even worse, I asked if I could pay an entire year up front and was told no. If they are getting the money up front from a bank, why can’t they accept it from the customer directly!!????Like I said, I can’t speak for the facility itself, but I can speak for the unethical practices of the owners. Not a very good way to treat people, but hey, they got their money so why do they care? Oh wait, they don’t, if they did, there would have been full disclosure.

Canceling my membership ASAP. If your looking for a gym where you want to push yourself beyond the limits and boundaries or if your a COMPETITOR in BODYBUILDING or if you compete in bodybuilding shows this is not the place to go!! The male Staff was unfriendly towards me because I was pushing myself super hard and pushing myself beyond my limits in this gym.

Small gym with too many people. The classes play loud music that is so loud you cant hear your earbuds. Always somebody in the way. Equipment is new but not much of it. If the membership wasnt so cheap Id go elsewhere.
