Music was fun and class was energetic! Definitely a very good workout. I’m giving three stars because the instructors and staff were not that friendly. They were not rude, but they did not make me feel welcome in the class. I’ve been doing spin for 3 years now, every studio I’ve been to acknowledges knew people in the class or offers help individually in some way. This studio did nothing of the sort. The staff and instructors only catered to members who regularly attended class. It does not make me want to come back and attend more classes in the future.Update: October 27, 2020I unfortunately have not been back to the studio. Since visiting Ive found many other wonderful gyms in Charleston that are very friendly. If another dedicated spin studio does not open in Charleston I may consider giving this one another try.
The revolution is the best cycling studio on Charleston and has a very strong group of instructors and a very positive and uplifting atmosphere. Every instructor is friendly, approachable, and committed to the overall success of everyone who attends their class. So if you want a rigorous spin session and the opportunity to meet and connect with various personalities from around the community this is the place to be.
5 out of 5 stars - AWESOME! The overall production is what stands out more than anything; not only in the high energy instructors but in the LED lighting system, top of the line sound system and a true performance like experience when it all comes together. The most invigorating 45 min workout I have experienced and being a guy playing sports into college, Rev gives me that competitive edge back into my workout. Another big plus worth noting is the demographic of people that go to Rev is motivating by itself - a perfect mixture of fun and focused people all there to get a good sweat. I dont write many reviews but whoever placed this gem in Charleston - well done!
I love their music selection and studio. Very unique studio with music and light display that will keep you motivated. Katie is wonderful and very encouraging. Also, free parking in the garage which is a considerable bonus for downtown.
One of the best places to workout in Charleston. Amazing instructors and front desk staff. Lots of class options. The energy and playlists are on point, and they have everything you need from shoes to towels (free of charge) and comfy apparel to rep Revolution!
Great experience, all the trainers are so Energetic and engaging! I recommend this place to everyone in the area!
What a workout!! This was my second time trying Cycling and I officially love it! Their classes are great and their teachers are OUTSTANDING!!
Courageous, Inspiring and Bum Defying!I am ADDICTED! Ive done spin classes in the past and was never hooked. Didnt hate it, but certainly didnt love it. This is so much more than those boring spin classes. There is an energy in the room that pumps you up and the spunky instructors never fail to make that 45 minute class worth your time- talk about SWEAT! A challenging full body class with amazing music, its actually a fun workout. I guarantee after one class youll be hooked.
Fun upbeat instructor. The music was loud but the sound was off (maybe the bass or the way the room absorbed noise) so you could barely hear what the actual songs were, but instead just blaring noise. I prefer bikes that have stats, especially when they have the stats posted so you can compete with other riders.
My initial take before doing a spinning workout at REV was, meh. After my 1st time though, that thought was blown away. This is more than a workout, its an EXPERIENCE. One in which you realize how badass you can be.The instructors are engaging from the jump, and you wind up going 0 to 100 real quick. They push, yet inspire. Challenge, yet cheer. Music is motivating and diverse, and the studio lighting is fantastic. The staff has been nothing but friendly and accommodating. The people are like all of us, trying to be better than we were before. From a male perspective, its an excellent complement to my workouts and has aided my training significantly. Overall, REV is a great place to be, play, and sweat.
Great workout. in and out in 45 minutes. fun music. lots of energy
Staff are friendly and professional. Class is a little lackluster . Machines dont have data, and the instructions are a little willy-nilly. Cant hear what instructor is saying most of time, and music is too loud. AC could use a tune-up as well. Overall, seems like instructors dont put a lot of thought into class. You spend most of the time in 3rd position, but sprinting instead of climbing. There are very few sprint or fast songs in the line-up. And there is no real theme to each song/class in terms of the work-out. Its always, start in sprint, get up to 3rd, now go front-back-side-to-side.
Ive been spinning for ten years and have been to over ten gyms throughout the country. This is probably my least favorite. For background i used to live in Charleston and had been to two spin classes here one at MUSC and another one off king in around 2011 - no idea what it was called .As a sports medicine physician Im picky:One this place is a bit pretentious. It was my fist time here and no one offered help to set up my bike. Which is fine I do bike fit but was weird . This is not a spin gym Id bring someone new to exercise to as no help. Way too much choreography . It makes the workout inconsisistent and you cant keep your rpm or heart rate up. I burned about two hundred less calories than I usually do and my average heart rate went from 175/179 most spin classes to 145. Choreography puts extra stress on the anterior knee for no real reason so i dont like this from a professional standpoint and I didnt do choreography. Arm push ups ??? Why ????Finally why no fans -- this falsely raises my perceived exertion while not actually making me exert myself ... I came for a workout not to feel like I got a workout .More so though I found the whole thing to be rather boring . Music was meh, instructor meh . I love spin gyms with stats but admit the main spin gym i go to doesnt have stats or screens and its enegergizing, motivating, fun. Honestly riding a trainer in my house would be better. Also not my favorite spin bike but the most common so that acceptable .On the pro side: its clean with free shoe rentals.Things I didnt like parking. When you sign up you get an email and link to info about parking but no where on there discussed parking. I got there twenty minutes early but ended up looking for parking for ten and it was super expensive . Wish the website was appropriately linked to parking info.Addendum.Returned over half year after initial review after establishment responded to review saying they had new management and cant decide if Im more or less disappointed . Still no fans. I was bored . Music a bit better. Still ridiculous choreo -weird bar push ups with one arm?? The choreo lends itself to injury and older people shouldnt go because of the lack of fans which is a shame as spin is low impact.Due to the lack of fans and summer heat I was sweating by warm up (got in early so had a fifteen minute warm up) Sweated about the same that I usually do at much higher heart rates and level of exertion or a ninety minute peloton ride but a much worse workout . So again Im the issue that you could probably sweat and feel like you had a workout just because the room itself was hot. If this was a student gym that was free Id be ok with the poor ventilation, acoustics but this is a fairly expensive spin gym. Also I had a random seat near a pole and couldnt see the instructor and acoustics were bad so could not hear either . Lots of echo.Pros the parking issue from initial review has been fixed . Shimano shoes are nice. Instructor seemed good hard to hear though. She seemed less pretentious and better music than first. They did help the new person next to me set up bike but lots of poor bike fit and form around the room.
Clean facilities, helpful staff, and good music. I really like the tempo of these classes.
Amazing staff! Great classes!
This thread sucks. Birth control threads suck. disappointed by the customer service and email response. I expected from you losers I purchased a Groupon ... only to be told it was worthless. Apparently because I purchased I ONE TRIAL I am a complete idiot and have become ineligible for any Groupon EVER in the future. Try it for free if you wish and pray so hard to you buy it.... LOL good luck with the hype. Wish I could rate zero stars instead of 1 like all charleston is reconebdkubg
Great workout but needs better parking availability
I have been a customer of Rev for months now and LOVE the workout and instructors! I was an avid flywheel-er in NYC, so when I moved back to Charleston I was so excited to find Rev. My favorite instructors are Kate Moon, Katie and Lauren. They play amazing music and I always leave the class feeling like they kicked my butt!Unfortunately, they have terrible customer service. Theyre rude and un-accomodating. Ive been frustrated for months now and am finally voicing my opinion after an experience I had over the phone yesterday. If I didnt love the workout so much, I wouldnt return as a repeat customer.
Kyle has the best classes.
Horrible parking experience! Definitely not worth the trouble.
Audio is awful - so loud my ears were throbbing.
