My engine was leaking so I called my mechanic who told me they were backed up by 3 weeks…I was referred to Byrds by someone I work with who swears by them. I called, Byrds got me in right away, diagnosed the problem immediately and had the car fixed and back on the road within days (had to wait for special part to arrive). I have been taking vehicles to Byrds for almost 20 years. I have never felt taken advantage of by them. I stopped by late today to pay for repairs on a car I need to sell. The owner was out, but the mechanic said he would fix 1 detail not on the original list. He also knowledgeably answered questions about the abs brake system on my Tahoe. Im not saying they are perfect but if its not right, theyll make it right. Everyone is friendly and helpful.

Quality repairs at reasonable rates

What with having just moved to Charleston, I was looking for a no frills shop with excellent service at a fair price. After having done a little homework, I decided to take my oldest car to Byrds for a minor repair figuring I wouldnt have too much to lose. The repair soon turned challenging yet Max stuck it out and completed the job without changing the original estimate. I will now take my truck here without question for any repair.

Ive used Byrds for 2 cars now, my Nissan Xterra and my Honda Accord! They fixed both in a timely and affordable manner! They are QUICK!

$294 labor to install two shocks. Thats about $100 more than it should have been. Wont be going back here. They also wont guarantee labor because I brought in my own parts. That makes no sense.Update: I gave them another try since its walking distance from my house. $250 for 1 strut mount install, and I provided parts. It took 4 business days. You be the judge.

This place is owned, and operated, by a very nice married couple, and has been in business for quite a long time. Theyre very good, honest, and hard working people. Theyre salt-of-the-earth small buisness owners, and I never regretted spending a single dime there. My only regret was not being able to bring them more customers by word of mouth before I moved away, and also, waiting so long to write this much deserved review.My dad has been an auto mechanic his whole life. So, when I was stationed in Charleston, it was important for me to find someone I could trust, since for the first time, I was having to find someone else to work on my vehicles. I walked into NAPA auto parts in 2013, and asked some old fellas working at the counter where I should go, to which they all replied, Take it to Byrds!During my 5 years in Charleston, Byrds worked on my 84 Chrysler LeBaron Turbo Convertible, 99 Mitsubishi 3000gt AWD Twin Turbo, 98 Chrysler Concorde, and 96 Dodge Dakota 4x4. No matter the type of vehicle I brought in, I always had complete confidence in their work. It was always a pleasure doing business, and I wish them all the best and hope you take your vehicle there as well after reading this.And with that, I will wrap up THE ONLY internet review Ive EVER bothered to take the time to write.

I would leave less than 1 star but it wont let me. They charge $108 for light bulb, bulb goes out 3 months later and they only want to refund $46!! First off, they are a rip off business. I went somewhere else for my other bulb and it was only $46 to fix, way less than $108. STAY AWAY!! DIRTY PEOPLE, DOING DIRTY BUSINESS IN CHARLESTON!!

AAAAA++!! Always friendly, fast and fair, at last a mechanic you can trust to do the work right, ontime and on budget. Have been here multiple times and each visit I was given the work that needed to be done, the cost and when the vehicle would be ready. Never once was there an add on or extra cost and always completed on or ahead of the time they gave me. Its kind of nice to think this day and age you can still find a honest business like this one. I Highly recommend them, go and see Max, youll be glad you did.
