I dont understand how they can claim our safety is a priority and then not even ask people to wear masks. Half of the gym doesnt wear masks, and the staff does nothing. I do not feel safe here.I just went to the planet fitness in Durham and the difference is night and day. Everyone had a mask on and there was tons of space. There were twice as many benches, which makes it a lot easier to work out. If you want to join a planet fitness, go for the one in Durham.The gym is clean and nice (if crowded), but the number of people going unmasked makes me really uncomfortable. Theres a sign up claiming masks are mandatory but it is ignored.

It use to be cool to flip the bird to the system, now its trendy to complain and act like a victim. Alot of complaints about masks. They do the best they can at keeping the gym neat and tidy especially considering the traffic they get. Many other things make it hard to stay ontop of everyone all the time but if thats not good enough for you, Easy fix, stay home. Great gym, keep it up 👍

It’s ridiculous that this club simply doesn’t enforce Orange County’s mask mandate. Members shouldn’t have to “notify management” when masks aren’t being worn; it’s not members’ responsibility to enforce the club’s mask policy, which is posted on the door and around the club. About half of members in the club at any time aren’t wearing masks, so it’s not even a subtle issue. I also hate that it’s so difficult to get benches in the Smith Machine and free weight area because it’s almost always crowded (with maskless members), so the club could really use more Smith Machines and free weight space. Membership is cheap and club equipment and facilities are usually clean. These pros aren’t enough to keep me around despite the before mentioned issues, so I’ll be terminating my membership and joining O2 Fitness.

Amazing gym! Only issue is that a bunch of lunks dont wear their masks in the weight lifting area, but other than that, amazing gym!

I was at Planet Fitness Chapel Hill last night and the place was impeccably clean! Elyjah Smith was by himself and had it all well looked after! This guy deserves to be appreciated by us members and the franchisor, he is humble, polite, friendly, always greets us with a big smile and helps us with whatever we need at the facility. I am very grateful for his good work! God bless Elyjah!

The gym is excellent and the staff is amazing.I honestly cannot believe that such a great gym costs so little each month. Its the best gym deal in America and possibly the world. I say that because Ive worked on 4 continents and lived in 30 cities (having belonged to gyms in each of those 30 cities).I have never paid so little for a gym. Ever. Not even in 2nd world countries.And the only gyms Ive ever belonged to that come close in regards to quality of equipment and gym excellence would be a Golds Gym near Washington DC and a European franchised gym that was operating in Dubai.I highly recommend this gym to anyone and everyone...from those just starting their journey into fitness and all the way through to those who are life long fitness professionals.

Its a nice and very clean gym. Only knocking it one star because its the only big box gym in the area leading to constant over-crowding. Nothing staff can really do.

Clean gym, one of the better PFs out there! Highly recommend. I used their hydromassage chairs in the back for the first time upon speaking with some of their friendly staff and it was great. Standard triceps machine missing perhaps? I didnt look everywhere did it but thats the only bad thing I can say. Overall great gym.

Absolutely my favorite gym in the area! Chris the shift leader always is extremely helpful and makes me feel welcome when I come in. Overall love the atmosphere and will be continue to be a regular here!

What I really love about Planet Fitness is the app where I can see how busy it is. I only like to go during low volume times so this is perfect. I know exactly when to go to avoid the crowds.

The facilities are meticulously clean. The machines are well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The patrons willingly follow careful cleaning practices when using the machines. The facility is large, so you can easily spread out.

Greeted me when I came in and I watched him greet others with the same professionalismand warmth.. I felt welcomed and valued. Keep up the excellent service PF!

Great prices, friendly staff. The gym is consistently clean and well taken care of. Its never so busy that you feel crowded or pressured to end your workout early. I also love the 30 minute circuit area.My only complaint is that the weekend hours are a bit limiting. If you work weekends is can be difficult to get in to work out before they close. Ive heard that they may change to 24/7 soon which is great!Overall, love this place.

This place has a good selection of equipment and its well spaced out. Doesnt have as many options as some of the other planet fitness locations in the area, but its enough. The college crowd was making the place a little busier than I would always want, but I havent been there enough recently to know if that is still a problem.

Great to see that they are enforcing the masks to be worn properly (over nose and mouth). Not too busy, I felt comfortable and had good distance from my treadmill to the next user.I did not see any PF employee going around to clean the machines. That wouldve been nice, since you dont know how well the users clean the machines after their workout. So, u just have to clean b4 and after you use the mach. Im also not too sure about the cleaning solution they have available. Overall, I felt it was a safe place to workout.

Watch out for the KARENS. Its only one person that would approach me every time my mask fall below my nose while Im running on the treadmill. Every time I come if she is there she always looking for me.JANUARY 1ST. I was put out the gym because my mask 😷 came off while Karen was telling me to adjust it while I was running on the treadmill. I refused to leave so security was called. I refused to leave again so the police was called. After talking to the GM the next day. She told me Karen said I cussed her out. Never happened. The police said I cussed them out on the way out. Never happened. They also said I would be trespassing if I come back. All because my mask fell of while I was adjusting it for the Karen.Now Im at O2 fitness. No problems. Everything is perfect.

Staff is very kind and knowledgeable. Management thinks everyone is made of money. Membership rates are way out of proportion

Lovely gym with a great amount of various equipment, and routinely cleans and mandates covid safety procedures

I have been a Black Card member since 2017 and the Chapel Hill facility is my home base, if you will. The last several months I have visited other PF gyms throughout the Southeast...and the consistency is impressive. But, as Dorothy once chimed. theres no place like home. Chapel Hill has a sparkling clean facility (even pre-Covid) and friendly and courteous staff.

DO NOT USE THIS GYM!!!!! Even in the middle of a pandemic with cases and deaths rising these leeches are using pre Covid policies prioritizing profits over customer health and safety. Does not allow you to cancel over the phone and will be VERY rude and dismissive if you call asking for information about how they’re adjusting policy for the CDC Covid 19 Guidelines. Horrible customer service, seems like they do not care about the pandemic at all. Very unsafe would not be surprised if it was run by anti maskers with how flippant they were about asking Covid questions. If you care about your Heath and safety DO NOT USE

Hey P.F....don’t choke on the 39 bucks you pickpocketed from my account this morning. I understand that it’s non-refundable and you need to understand that that’s the last red cent you’ll ever see from me or anyone in my family. Even the airlines are waving fees right now.(pandemic etiquette 101)Enjoy your looming bankruptcy.

Business was shut down due to Covid. I called numerous times and received a recording. I emailed a request to cancel which they acknowledge they received. The email stated both the name and account number of my son who was a UNC student. They told me I should have come in to cancel. They were closed. I live in PA. The general manager does not respond to my email or the BBB. I can imagine how many students $40 fee they took.

This location does not protect the safety of its members. Half of the people are not ever wearing a mask. The people behind the desk only seem to enforce the rules when they feel like it. I am moving my membership to another location.

Update: I emailed customer service, per the request in the owners response to this review. As expected, it was an exceptional waste of time...essentially just had a 5+ email back and forth to confirm that I had a correct understanding of their abomination of a cancellation policy.Original review: Cancellation policies are borderline criminal. The options are to go in or send in a letter. Was charged on the 17th, wrote my letter today on the 28th, saw that Ill still get charged next month because they have to have received your cancellation by the 25th - yes, a mere 8 days after your monthly charge. No small gym or fitness center Ive ever been to has similar policies, so I must conclude that the policies are written this way so they can thieve as much money as possible from you.Avoid this place and support your local small fitness center.Also, if someone is going to respond saying that the cancellation methods are stated in the contract, save it. Just because its stated doesnt make it right.

Theres something happening in The Gym recently and its not good!

I have felt so comfortable, and confident each and every single gym session! Planet Fitness fits all of my needs, while also respecting COVID-19 guidelines.

The facilities are always clean, the equipment is well cared for, theres lots of room for everybody of every age, size, and level of fitness. It really is a no judgment zone and for those of us who are older or in not-so-great shape, that makes for a welcoming space. Ive never been a gym sort of person but I like how comfortable I feel at Planet Fitness.

Been coming here for a few months, first as a guest of my fiancee and now as a member and cant say enough good about it! I tend to stick to not very peak hours, but its hardly ever even slightly crowded when I come. The staff and other members are all great.Being 24/7 offers wonderful flexibility, and I appreciate that unlike Anytime Fitness (my last membership), they are always staffed. I went at 3am the other morning after finishing a late night paper writing session and it was wonderful.The machines are all high quality. ...not top quality, but very high quality, and I love all the TVs on the wall. Best of all, of course, is the almost insanely cheap price and the points system that can make it even cheaper.I will definitely continue to be a Planet Fitness member for a long time as long as I live near one, assuming they are all as good as this one. Only downside is that they dont take credit cards for billing... thats really annoying to me and seems dumb in this day and age, but maybe its part of how they keep the costs so low.

Great facility and equipment, but needs improvement in customer service. I come to the gym at around 11pm - 12am, so I understand that there can be less staff around this hour. However, I do not want to wait 5 to 10 minutes at the front desk just to be checked in. The staffs need to be more attentive. Also, one night, overnight staff, Jenny, was consistently counting money for 5 minutes even though I was waiting right in front of her at the front desk. She didn’t even acknowledge that I was there. She could have just said “give me a few minutes” instead of blatantly ignoring me. I hope these circumstances can be improved in a few months.

Clean friendly staff every one wears their masks also

The mix of newcomers and serious exercisers is inspiring; you belong no matter what level of fitness you have achieved. Members are friendly and approachable if you have a question on a new technique. There is a great selection of machines and other tools (weights, mats, etc.) available to mix and match your workout thereby avoiding boredom or muscle overuse. The staff are friendly and helpful; the trainers knowledgeable. The gym and locker rooms are clean; surfaces shine, there is no litter, and mercifully no musty or funky smells.

Ive called twice and waited on hold for more than one hour (each time) and emailed (as instructed in their recording) and have yet to receive a reply about how to cancel my membership. Extremely poor taste to take advantage of vulnerable people that do not feel safe coming in to cancel their membership.

I like that I was able to easily sign up online. When I made it into the club they helped me right away and gave me my card for signing in. I liked that no one harassed me into buying a training package. Maggie Palmer introduced herself to me and asked if I would like a class schedule and explained that it was part of my membership and that she was the trainer for the classes. I love that they have PE@PF for the people that might need some help with their fitness routine. Everything looks clean and well taken care of. Bathrooms are clean too! So far I have had a great experience there. I am glad I signed up! Oh, and the rewards program is pretty cool too! I like getting points for going to workout.

This was a larger facility than the one at home but the staff still maintained it’s cleanliness and the hospitality there was great. I had never been there and a team member took the time to show me where everything was and asked if I needed help with anything else. After my workout they remembered my name and asked how my visit was and welcomed me back. This has been the best, friendliest planet fitness that I’ve visited. Highly recommend.

Today was my first day signing up. Nate gave me a tour of the facility and was very knowledgeable about the gym equipment and the other amenities that planet fitness offers. Nate did a really great job of making me feel welcomed. I dont remember the other two employees names, but they were very nice as well and helped me out with the purchase of new eyeware for the tanning services. Thank you for all the staff members help. 😊

Clean, efficient and full of positive energy

The staff is friendly and professional, facility has tons of equipment and its user-friendly, so I have no major complaints at all. As a 1-year customer, I just have a suggestion, you should also offer the black card for something like $49 more a year for me and people like me so we can have that option and use the tanning beds and massage equipment as well, thanks for considering! Oh...and manager Nick is to he nicest guy on the planet...pardon the pun...

It’s been a while since I’ve been in a gym and I have no regrets about coming here now.I love the machine that’s like a stair stepper and an elliptical in one. This is my go-to cardio machine.I’m also addicted to the heated massage bed.This place is a deal!

If you are a self starter this is a good gym. Classes are random and at weird times. And if there are young girls manning the desk dont expect them to speak to you if youre an older woman.

This place has a very positive atmosphere! With a variety of machines and exercises, you wont find their facilities lacking. They have rules in place to stop people from harassing each other, and televisions keep you engaged while using the treadmills and cyclicals.

I like the laid back atmosphere of Planet Fitness and the fact that no one is trying to get me to sign up for training or products, etc. It just feels very comfortable and its quiet. Out of the several PFs Ive been to over a decade, this is my fav one. Always has friendly staff, always has clean, equipment, always has neat, clean changing rooms.... Yeah, just a great experience I think.

This is a great PF location. The staff is always lovely, and a couple of the guys have gone far enough to remember my name and others. It helps that I go everyday though. Always clean, relatively busy at peak times, and they dont overuse the lunk alarm. Lots of opportunities to do active work and circuit training as well.

I can overlook the fact that machines are constantly breaking down or out of service. I can put up with the shabby dressing room & broken lockers.Its the management here that truly needs a makeover. Yesterday I witnessed a manager walk over to another member and threaten to have security remove her because she was talking on the phone for 5 minutes.Ive literally seen people eat pizza while walking on a treadmill (yes, during pizza night which is a different kind of travesty) with zero repercussions. But somehow taking a quick phone call when nobody is around warrants harrassment evenI just learned that this member’s membership was revoked and they were banned from Planet Fitness due to this crime. Truly terrible way to treat your customers!

Nice gym, friendly staff but the CYBEX weight machines in this club are terrible from an ergonomical aspect, and feel cheap.Planet Fitness clubs with Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment are superior.PF, dont cheapen the equipment in order to cut cost! You will lose members in the long run.

Good gym, staff can be arrogant and obnoxious. Took my son as a guest and was rudely informed guests could not use massage chairs. Real jerk about it as well.Update: after speaking to the GM Lyn, apparently I was in the wrong.

Been going to this location for a couple of months now & usually the staff is friendly, with the exception of the assistant manager Elizabeth. She was so rude & even insinuated that my son was special needs when he came as a guest with me. If I encounter her again, I will seriously be canceling my membership! She needs to be trained on how to interact with patrons because she obviously missed the lesson the first time!

I really enjoy working out here. I am a morning workout person and this gym is big enough where you dont feel crowded in the morning. I love the 30 minute express workout too! The only downfall to this gym is that if you like to workout in the evening, be warned. This gym gets crowded after 5pm.

I have joined several gyms and have never had greater service. The young man that helped me was attentive, courteous and NOT pushy, something I have never experienced. I must say of it was not for him I would not have joined. Dan is an asset to this gym.

Decent gym for people who arent serious gym rats. Limited free weight selection. Open 24 hours during the week but closed at night on weekends. Inexpensive.

Planet Fitness is clean and the people are friendly. I like the exercise machines and the location is very convenient. What more could one want?

Very clean. Most importantly for me is that they have free weights and a decent amount of barbells. Also its 24 hours so I can go at like 1am and its completely dead, so I can use the weight machines to do a set and not have to wait for anyone.

Chapel Hill is super clean. Really nice group of members also. Very friendly place for all ages.

I honestly love that even though I tend to work later hours I can still come late in the evening Mon-Thurs. and workout. I also love that even during peak hours of operation I dont have to wait around that long for a machine to open up!

Advertise 10$ a month, no commitment. What they don’t tel you, is it’s 40$ to sign up, 40$ annual fee, and a 12 month commitment. Everyone here is really nice, place is always clean. But planet fitness itself is basically a scam.Updated: just canceled my membership, when I paid the $58 cancelation fee, and mention “so much for no commitment eh” the guy behind the counter says it changes week to week. So basically tv and radio advertise no commitment one week, then next week it’s not true. Glad to be done with this planet fitness.

Great location. Parking can sometimes be difficult to find near the building, and the facility itself can be quite crowded at peak times. Cardio equipment is usually available, but free weights are crowded much of the time, to the point that I cant always get to the equipment I want to use. That said, the facility is extremely clean and well-maintained. Staff are friendly. As a transwoman, I feel mostly comfortable here, most of the time; but not all the time. A small minority of the staff seem uncomfortable with me, and a couple have misgendered me; but on balance theyve been professional. For the price, it beats every gym in the area.

My Planet Fitness membership is an undeniably great value for the quality of the workouts I can have at my local gym, not to mention the great customer service and clean facilities. $10 a month for a standard membership is extremely easy to afford on almost any budget.
