Great value for gym that offers a variety of machines, free weights and classes. $80 extra a month for additional cycling and Golda version of CrossFit (Golds Fit) and Burn (Orange Theory) -- still assessing if this is worth it. Doing $29/month for monthly basic gym and other classes

Overall great place to lift. Very spacious, clean and employees wont bother you if you need to get intense and lift big weights. The only reason I give them 4 stars is because they dont allow me to bring my own barbell. As an elite lifter I need to pull with my own deadlift bar during heavy training phases. I also would like to bring my farmers walk handles or log to train strongman events. These wont happen at this gym. Managers think there is a liability issue but everybody knows the chance that the issue will happen is slim to none. Meanwhile The Golds Gym in Annandale totally allows me to bring my own equipment. In conclusion, I do recommend this gym. They have a good selection of machines where you can do accessory exercises. However keep in mind if you are a strongman athlete or powerlifter (especially strongman), the level you can reach by training at this gym is limited.

The gym itself is fine. Wait until you want to cancel, then the nightmare begins. I got billed a month after they closed due to COVID which I thought was a bit shady. I then mailed a letter to their corporate office in April since the gym was closed at that time expressing my desire to cancel my membership. For 5 months now, they deny ever receiving it and continue to charge my card. Ive attempted to dispute the charge, and they file a chargeback dispute with the credit card company. Ive called their number to the office in Dallas and spoken with numerous different employees. As a month to month member (active duty military) I had no unpaid dues, fees or contract requirement. I will NEVER do business with Golds Gym or any of their affiliates again. This is a joke.

The gym has a great location, plenty of safe parking. Every kind of workout under the sun. Most of the classes are free within the membership price. For example there are three different types of yoga classes. The pool is the cleanest I have ever seen. There is always an open lane as people dont seem interested so much in swimming. The staff is. Congenial and Anthony is especially knowledgeable. The people who workout at the club are generally friendly.I have never seen the gym crowded never. Spin classes are notoriously expensive but are free till the end of the year. Dont waste your opportunity, they are great fun! The custodial women do a superb job the club is spotless! Some of the negative critiques may be legitimate but for the most part they are written by hypersensitive whiners wanting to vent you know the type. Join the club I guarantee you will enjoy the experience!

My name is Tiffany and I’m out shape! HAHAI joined Golds Gym in Feb and it has been awesome for the most part.I do Golds Fit or Golds Burn usually 3-4 times a week with Caroline, Eduardo or Matt! They’re all amazing trainers/coaches! They don’t make me feel uncomfortable, and I’ve learned so much training with them! If you commit to coming here 3-4x a week, it’s worth the membership upgrade. However, I do miss Bull coaching our classes too!I took away one star because this club is enforcing covid guidelines to a degree. However, I see many members without a mask. it’s quite frustrating given the current guidelines for VA.

Updated review,I go to 4 differents Gold gym location in Arlington but this one is the least safe as far as COViD 19 preventions.Beside the people who are doing cardio, on a busy time I was surrounded by a least 12 people without any Masks protection in the weight lift area.I complained to the manager but after 20 min still no enforcement of masks wearing by gym member.Today I came back to give one more try and the Managment stepped up their game!I m very happy and proud of all the efforts of management team to remind people to wear the mask properly during work out.I felt much more safe and I hope they ll keep this high standard till covid is not longer dangerous. Thanks Golds Gym.

Besides the new equipment, theres not much to recommend this place. The layout is awful, all the new equipment is jammed together because almost half the floor space is taken by special rooms for specialty classes (Golds Fit, Golds Cycle, and Golds Burn) that no one uses because they cost an arm and a leg in addition to the base membership price, and a 2 lane pool which is a joke. Ive never met anyone who said they joined Golds Gym because they wanted to swim laps. If swimming is your thing there are much better (and cheaper) options in the area, the Fairfax County Rec centers all have full-size competition pools. Were on our 3rd general manager since this location opened, the only difference between them is how hard they try to squeeze every last penny out of it. The current one seems to be trying the hardest, lowering the electric bill by turning down the AC in the middle of summer (Im not kidding, its been like a swamp in there). The rest of the staff, sales reps, trainers, and front desk crew are basically interchangeable corporate drones. Dont expect much unless youre handing them a credit card to pay for something extra. In short, if all you care about is having some decent equipment to do your own workout this place is ok. If you want anything more than that youre going to be disappointed.

I’m not sure what makes this a higher level facility than the others I’ve been to. They claim it’s the access to the pool...it’s the size of a kiddie pool with two lanes. Previous Chantilly location was 100 times better. New location is smaller than the old, staff isnt friendly, crowded, and on top of that they try to charge members an additional fee because its a level 2. So with the additional charge and added amenities, my friends and I tried to use the level 2 space and weights; RUDE worker demands to us to get out and tells us that the room is only available for use during certain hours. I went to the Golds on Sullyfield Circle for a few years. I liked the setup. I was told it was closing and the new gym would be much better. Sadly it was a big disappointment for me. While the facility is clean, I just feel that its smaller than the old gym I went to and the pool is only a couple of lanes. Way over hyped by the guy I talked with prior to the building being completed. The place is overcrowded as well. Im giving the Gym 2 stars only because its adequate. I have had and cancelled my Golds Gym membership previously. Last time I tried cancelling in person and could not. I was told that I needed to do this online. Now the process has to take place in person. The worst part about being a member is trying to cancel a membership. Its aweful. I think this is probably the last time I sign up for Golds due to the unfriendly nature of trying to cancel my membership. I feel like they just want my money. What a rip off! Yes, month’s ago Isigned up because Jose said the $10 initiation fee was a one shot deal for the new gym that I had not even seen and to get it I had to join NOW! I explained that I was only interested in water aerobics and that the schedule of that would determine my interest. I also told him that I thought the membership would be cheaper through my Kaiser Permanente insurance and it is. They charged me $11 initiation not $10 as I was told and then they charged me again on the 1st when the gym was not even open yet! I had not even seen it, let alone the water aerobics schedule. I went on the 14th theday it finally opened and took a tour from Marcus. When I told him that I had done my research and that it was cheaper through my insurance and I wanted to cancel. I was told I needed to complete a bunch of steps to do that. I told him that that is Not what Jose said when I signed up and that was completely unacceptable. He referred me to Greg after a very long wait, who introduced himself as the GM. He apologized that the pool was not open yet, that he did not even have water aerobics yet, that he hoped to add it. He only had 3 Zumba classes. I explained what happened with Jose and he said that he would research the Kaiser rate and would cancel my membership as I requested. I received a notice that the $10 initiation fee was available to new members, so Jose had lied to me about that. About the fee that was supposed to be $10 yet I was charged $11 and that I could not just quit if it did not have the water aerobics I need. I never heard back from Greg. I have yet to receive a refund and feel completely ripped off! At this point, until you have a full water aerobics schedule like your gym I attended in Colorado Springs, CO I want a refund. Once the water aerobics is available I will join through my insurance as it is only $25 a month instead of the $43 you charged me.

I moved to Chantilly from Annandale, so I switched gyms from a very nice Merrifield Golds to the Chantilly Golds. I gave it two weeks and I really tried, but Im done with this crappy gym. I did like the individual TVs on the cardio equipment, which was the only saving grace and kept from leaving 13 days earlier.Theres nothing like coming in to workout and taking the last persons weights off the bar/machine...for every exercise. The dumbells werent much better, but at least they were almost always near the racks and close to being in order. The plates are mostly melted plastic and shouldve been replaced in the early 1990s when they were officially over used.I could almost live with the above, but damn if it isnt crowded and theres just enough idiots that make it unsafe to do dumbell presses without worrying for your safety.Yesterday was the final straw when I was finishing up my chest workout with dips. 75 year old Tom Cruise walks over with his aviator shades on (its 7AM and we are inside and no, its not very bright) right before my second to last set. Im doing timed 1 minute breaks and he asks me if Im resting or working out. I had to explain to hold on for a sec because my timed break is over in 10 secs and to wait less than 30 secs and Ill be done. Perv Cruise stands less than 3 freaking feet from me and stares at me while I do every rep. I even stopped and asked if he was freaking kidding me and he just stood there. Normally I would just give up and replace the last set, but I was so disgusted, pd off, and fed up this TERRIBLE gym that I had to repay the favor while he did his abs (poor form none-the-less).I start tomorrow at the 24 hour place right up Route 50 for the same price, so well see how that goes. The place looked new and the equipment looked taken care, but it sucks that it doesnt have the personnal TVs or selection of equipment. 4+ years of being at Golds...such a shame.
