We had the best possible experience with Shaun Aguilar as our son’s dyslexia tutor. Our son recently completed his dyslexia tutoring program with Shaun. They met about twice a week during the school year and more often over the summer, almost all of them were over zoom. The whole program took just over two years. After spending so much time with Shaun, we highly recommend him as a tutor.First of all, Shaun is a great teacher. Our son has learned such a great deal about reading! Under Shauns instruction, our son is doing much better in school. His grades have improved, and he has more confidence. He now understands the rules in our language, and he has the tools he needs to succeed with his dyslexia.Shaun is a patient teacher, and he came into each session with a relaxed manner that put our son at ease. Shaun has a great understanding of what our son is going through, and that empathy makes a big difference in how our son responds to him. Our son is also less frustrated, anxious, and angry because he is succeeding at school. And he now regards his dyslexia as merely a different way of seeing the world, not as a disability.Shaun was more than a tutor. He made a strong connection with our son, and our son considers him a friend. We had other tutors in the past and none of them were able to relate with our son like Shaun was. They have such a special rapport, and our son looked forward to his tutoring sessions. I could hear them laughing throughout their time together. As a parent, I appreciate how professional and responsible Shaun always was. The communication was outstanding. He always kept us, the parents, informed of our son’s progress. He was flexible and understanding when we had scheduling conflicts. He was transparent about the process and billing. And he gave good advice when we asked for it. Shaun was even willing to meet with us on zoom rather than in person because that worked better for our family. We have no hesitation in recommending Shaun as a dyslexia tutor. Our experience with him was nothing short of outstanding!
Shaun is the most dedicated, understanding and passionate educator I know. My son was in middle school and my daughter was in high school when they both were finally diagnosed with dyslexia. The schools had failed them and their lack of confidence showed. They started working with Shaun and not only did he teach them to read by utilizing the Barton program, he helped them regain their dignity and self esteem. I will forever be grateful to Shaun and The Dyslexic Group for the support provided not only to my kids, but to me as well. I credit Shaun for saving my kids and for giving us the gift of hope in our darkest time.
I home school my children, my middle daughter had zero interest in learning to read until she was almost in second grade, yet told amazing stories from the time she was super little (1 yr old!) As a former preschool teacher, I just thought for the longest time she was an immature learner and tried not to worry believing she would not leave my home NOT knowing how to read. My dear, fellow mom/teachers reassured me. But by second grade she had the desire to learn to read and was faithfully “coming to the table” to study with me and yet, each day it was like she had not had any victories or growth the day before, even though she had. We were both so frustrated! We both cried. She was trying so hard. I was trying so hard! I bought so many curriculums...A dear family member, who was walking the dyslexic journey a little ways ahead of me, gently suggested I look into dyslexia. She saw all the classic signs in my sweet girl. I looked into it and yep, it was my baby they were describing. This family member sweetly recommended the Dyslexic Group, saying she thought they might be able to see us remotely as we live in different states. The Dyslexic Group has been kind, professional, & so encouraging on this journey! We have been receiving tutoring for 6 months now and she is flying through her lessons! She reads everything (signs, labels, paragraphs, closed captioning😄) and she is spelling like she has been doing it her whole schooling career. This morning she read her baby sister a book. Tears. There have been only joyful tears since signing up for tutoring with the Dyslexic Group. I can not recommend them enough. If you are ready for tears of frustration to become tears of joy, give them a call. We feel so blessed to be getting help from the Dyslexic Group!
Shaun from the Dyslexic Group has helped my son by using the proven Barton method. Shaun is more than a tutor. He is a coach, a mentor and a cheer leader. He went above and beyond to help us navigate not just reading but also the other challenges that come along with dyslexia. Instead of dyslexia holding us down, we now feel empowered.
If you are looking for a dyslexic tutor, for yourself or your child. Look no further. The Dyslexic Group has been an answer to my prayers. They really know their stuff and a will help you get results. They are more then professional, they actually care and are compassionate. Give them a call and get on a path to success.
