If I could give no stars I would. We had water backing up in our basement last weekend and they sent one person to fix the issue. This kid was here from 6PM until 1AM. Thank god my husband and father-in-law were here because they had to help him carry his heavy equipment down the stairs. He was going to use one little bucket to empty the filthy water out of our pipes and ended up using two of our personal trash cans to fill with this disgusting water. My husband and father-in-law were the ones who carried the trash buckets outside and disposed of the water (without masks or gloves mind you). He also left our sump pump battery in the water and this no longer works because of it. When he finally got the problem fixed- he left in a hurry and left a nasty mess for us to clean up. I would NOT recommend Roto-Rooter to anyone.

Roto Rooter had to come back after unclogging my drain three weeks ago. They were quick, polite and safe (used mask and gloves) and worked to clear the clog again. They didnt charge me for the return trip, nor for the emergency (weekend) fee. Excellent customer service.

Arrived on time, very friendly and professional, opened two drains quickly and on budget.

An employee came out and used a camera on our drain last winter. I tried contacting the office to get some sort of follow up report on what to do next with our drain, so our basement wouldn’t flood again. Received nothing, but a run around from the office person. They acted like they had no idea what I could possibly asking for so I paid $250 for them to look at my drain and then ignore me. Awful customer service. Go somewhere that gives free estimates!

You have some good techs(shion, zach) but the people who answer the phone...... I think you can do better. Talk about not having a clue and then asking to call during normal business hours (you know when everyone else who has a job is working) because she doesn’t have access to my history....... if that’s the case how come every time I call (except this time) you know what was done who did it and if there was a charge or not.... Lazy..... the only reason I even called is because the tech that scoped my lines said one of their knives cut through the sleeve connecting my house to the city sewer main. You say your going to talk to the city and get back to me since it was their sleeve they had installed and your knife that went through it. Two weeks later no word and I still have a hole in the side of my main sewer line..... talk about unprofessional.

Had a clogged kitchen drain, they cleaned the drain perfectly but broke the handle on the kitchen faucet when they flushed the drain after clearing the clog. I contacted them twice to let them know the concern and see if they had some small replacement part or something to easily fix it since I have no knowledge of plumbing. The first time I called the receptionist was combative and dismissive but said they would talk to the tech and call back. After waiting over 4 hours with no callback I called a 2nd time, a different person I spoke with the 2nd time was nice but gave the same response of needing to talk to the tech and call back. Its now a few days later and nobody has bothered to reach out. I guess once they have the money theyre no longer concerned with customer satisfaction.

Cedar Rapids Location - Called on Sat evening and tech Chris was there within 90 minutes. A little later another tech came after finishing another job he had been on. Had problem figured out and mitigated in no time at all. They were both extremely kind, upbeat and professional. They both went UP and ABOVE. I was also pleasantly surprised by what they charged. I cant thank you both enough!

These guys are great. I had a basement drain that was backing up when the washing machine drained so I called Roto Rooter. The crew called before showing up and were here a few minutes early for the job. It took nearly an hour to get my drain fixed but they kept at it until everything was working like it should. The sewer drain in our basement was backing up so I called to have them come. An hour later my grandmother passed away so I had to quickly leave town. My wife called to switch the contact info and the lady who answered the phone was so compassionate. The techs called shortly after to say they were coming. They quickly resolved the problem and offered their condolences on such a hard day, even mKing the bill reflect that. Being compassionate, kind, and professionally resolving my problem quickly gets you my business and recommendation every time.

We just purchased our first home and 3 weeks later we had flooding due to the main drain being clogged. I called the office at 8:30 and someone showed up at 10. Zach came in, was so polite and easy going. Had everything fixed under an hour. I cannot say enough how awesome he was! By all the work he was doing, I assumed we were going to have a heft bill ($400) nope! 100$! Wow! I hope we dont need them again but I will certainly refer them to others!

Experience #1I recently had two septic systems pumped. The men who came to pump them were having a long day, but were still very thorough and were very nice to speak with about whart they were doing and how I could keep my systems in the best shape possible. I thought they did a fantasitc job and were very professional and courteous.Experience #2 (a few weeks after the first experience)I have an acreage and lots of agricultural based tile running under it. I had a broken tile and needed to have the source of the problem scoped out. The two guys that came out KNEW THIER STUFF and really took their time to figure out the root problem. (BTW it wasnt actually a root, ha!) The short of it is that they knew how this tile stuff works, how things SHOULD (and sometimes CAN) fit together and how to fix them. They solved a problem that I never could have with my backhoe and shovels, etc. It cost a bit, but it was far less than if I would have started ripping up random parts of my yard. It was well worth it! Thanks.

Had an appointment with them scheduled for 1:30 and it took them until after 5 to show up with no calls or communication along the way. Was not apologized to or offer to reschedule. Very poor service.

We had Roto-Rooter come out to our house for a sewer gas smell we were having - whenever we flushed a toilet, our kitchen sink would gurgle and sewer gas would come out of our sink. It cost us $100 for roto-rooter to come out and they didn’t even resolve the problem. We ended up figuring out the issue ourselves once they left, at no cost. It actually turned out to be something super minor that you would think a “professional” company would’ve known what was going on. The guy who came out to our house was not very knowledgeable. Another frustration was that he kept his boots on and walked throughout our kitchen and up/down the stairs several times with with muddy/snowy boots...he even tracked mud on our brand new carpet. He was getting flustered that he couldn’t figure out the problem, and told me that his boss was really angry at him for wasting so much time at my house from just trying to problem solve, so I needed to decide if I wanted him to get on the roof for a $100 extra charge. But he said that extra $100 still doesn’t guarantee a solution to the sewer gas smell problem we’re having. I just said to go, because I couldn’t believe he even said that. I’m not one to typically leave a negative review, but this was the worst customer experience I’ve ever experienced. We won’t ever call them, nor will we suggest them to friends and Family. Save your money, and hire real professionals, not amateurs.

Called Thursday to have a tech come clear what we thought was tree roots. After calling and getting the run around about what district would come service us they finally decided they would have the CR district come sometime friday. We made it VERY clear to the receptionist that we have tree roots and they needed to bring a camera. They said they would call 30 mins before they left CR so someone could be home. Well showed up without a call so my husband wasnt there to deal with the issue. Our tech was Brent, very friendly and did what he was told to do by his office. When my husband came home and looked at the paperwork showing they only put a line down and didnt run into a clog he called back asking if someone would come back with a camera since when he put his line in he hit something. The lady he spoke to on the phone was very rude and told him she didnt want another phone call being b*tched at. My husband was very polite with her and even told her he wasnt upset he just wanted someone to come with a camera when he was home to see what the issue was. She also mumbled things under her breath about being yelled at and would not send another tech back out until at least Monday. We will not deal with this company again.

A sewer line under the house got plugged and made it impossible to do laundry, run the dish washer or use the kitchen drain at all without the waste water backing up through a floor drain in the basement. I called roto-rooter at 7:30 AM and they said they would have someone out in the early afternoon. That was yesterday. When I call, all they say is that theyre still coming and theyll call before they show up. So, after 26 hours of waiting for that call, we still have a plugged drain.

Showed up at the house within 45 minutes. Had the main drain and floor drain cleaned and clear within an hour. Took care not to make a mess and took extra care on the carpet.Thank you!

Rudy and Zach came and cleared a rooted line from a house that had been vacant. They took 3 hours and never gave up, never recommend costly repairs before trying everything they could and were fair on cost. If they had given up it would have cost thousands of dollars. Thank you both for not leaving until the mission was accomplished. Highly recommend.

They have to come out every year or so and get my drains cleaned out from tree roots growing into them. They do a great job!

I called to have our basement drain cleaned after it backed up, I should have gone with my gut and hung up when the phone was answered and the only thing I could hear was a screaming child in the background. Against my better judgement, I asked for service, was given a 1.5 to 2 hour ETA for arrival and was told the plumber would call when in route. 2 hours later, no word from the plumber, so I called back to ask about the ETA and the same woman back-pedaled and told me they cant give ETAs because each call is different. When I asked why I was given an ETA when I called the first time she didnt have an answer. After another 45mins, still no word from the plumber, I canceled our service call. It will be worth waiting for Kenway to get to my house.

Ive had the pleasure of meeting Joe under some bad plumbing circumstances and he has fixed three major issues on both commercial and residential properties. I would recommend him to anyone.

I called Cedar Rapids Roto-Rooter for an after hours service call because a basement floor drain was backing up when I flushed the toilet. The crew called before they came out, and were very courteous when then arrived. They asked if I wanted them to take their boots off before coming into the house. They got right to work, and ran water and flushed toilets in different parts of the house to figure out where the blockage was. They finally went outside and pulled up the manhole cover in front of my house, where they discovered that the city main was blocked. They were able to unblock it and get my drain working again. Im not sure if every drain service would know to check the city main like that, but Adam and his co-worker did. When I joked that they should send the bill to the mayor, Adam actually suggested that I call the city sewer department and tell them what happened, and that the city might give me a refund. Either way, the Roto Rooter crew knew what they were doing and did a great job.
