This place does not help Iowans get jobs. A waste of time to get any help, they will talk down on you and make you feel so worthless. It is best to go to Palmer Group, they will at least give you leads if you need a job. I feel so sorry for all the people who have to go there all the time and wait all day for nothing. Sad group.
Nice place, great staff, helped make it easier to file
I have been fighting to get benefits since Nov 2020 when I was Covid positive. Every time I call I get a different answer and what I did wrong and what I need to do. They help me fill out the next thing I need to do, or they are going to research and call me back. I never get a call back, I as so frustrated. Who do I contact to get results? The President? The Governor? I thought the PUA was for individuals that were off work due to covid.
I had an extremely pleasant experience. Autumn went above and beyond to answer all of the questions I had, there was A LOT! I am so gracious she spent the time to help me and put my mind at ease.
Cedar Rapids location is great. Everyone is helpful and friendly. They will help you with your options and let you know everything they do there and leave you be, or literally hold your hand and walk you through the whole process. It really makes everything easier. Thanks especially to Melinda, Curt, and Bill.
There was not any obtainable access to information regarding the unemployment boost release to the unemployed provided. The funds were approved 8/14/20, but no estimated time frame for expected distribution was given.
Just got off the phone and the lady NAMED SHARON was SO RUDE.. Im just trying to claim unemployment and its your job to help...Not give me a ATTITUDE ON THE PHONE.. During times like this you would think people would be more helpful but no..
The place Is been very busy with a pandemic currently happening. The site crashed a couple of times . I believe they are doing all they can . They will help all of the people filing for unemployment andin need of their help . I also believe we need to be patient and try to help them.
Very helpful
The receptionist is so rude everytime I call and I believe theres multiple with the same rude attitude. ALSO they take 15 mins to answer the phone.
A little unorganized. Sat there for almost 20 minutes before they figured out why I was there. Could use some training on how to greet customers and help them with their needs. Everyone was friendly.
Youd think a government agency would at least answer their phone! I called many many times and just got a generic voicemail who’s “voicemail box was full” (gee, I wonder why?), they don’t even check messages apparently when they don’t answer the phone. I finally got somebody and she was snarky and impatient and put me on hold for 20 minutes and then cut me off. Called again, and she picked up and immediately hung up on me. They have no idea how to be professional and effective employees themselves and are the fork to your soup or hot sauce to your ice creme in terms of usefulness, they should be standing in their own lines!I’m *glad* to be back in Minnesota where OUR workforce centers are professional, resource rich, very useful and have dedicated, helpful, and knowledgeable workers.Anything to do with Iowa’s government apparatus is generally hard to deal with compared to Minnesota, but THIS was by far the worst experience.
Ive been trying to call them for weeks about a letter I got from them, about them helping me find a job.... I have a job, its seasonal, now they are threatening to take my seasonal unemployment away, but wont answer a call to help me figure it out,,, Des Monies answers,,, but not the 1 person who has control over this situation in cedar Rapids ...ive only called close to 50 times in 3 weeks, no call back, no answer no nothing
For being an government agency and an unemploment office you would think there would be people that would either, A answer the phone, B know what they were doing, or C be of some use. I called 15x back to back. Would get a lady but when she said she was transferring me it either hung up or would play music and put me on hold for 15+ minutes then hangup. The other 13x when someone didnt answer it went to the generic mailbox. Such a shame a place thats suppose to help the unemployed is so pathetic that they should be unemployed. But as much as to be expected from a government agency. Nothing but a joke. Say they are short staffed, when they deal with hundreds of unemployed people that they could easily offer a job to.
I just want to no y my card wont let me put my card number in when i check it what do i do cant check my balance
Thanks to the staff for assisting me so I can attend the Des Moines location.
Claims
This place is horrible, called the number got transferred 4 or 5 times just to get a generic voice mail. So then I just started hitting extensions till I finally got a voice (4th try I think). All I needed was info on getting a work permit for my 15 year old daughter. I wasnt expecting much, but was still very disappointed.
Not for people who want to walk and be handed a job. It takes effort. IWD gives you the tools you need. Its up to you to make it happen. And thats how it should be.
Why is this place closed while there are restaurants and other businesses open very strange even the dot is open?????????
I has the worst experience ever i hate i moved out here my worker is rude and make things really hard with my disabled child this is the worst experience ever i feel like i am being discriminated against
