We have had all three of our children attend Magness and they are absolutely loving it. The training is so professional and they make sure each and every kid is always learning and enjoying it at the same time. Coach Michael alongside all the other training coaches are absolutely amazing and so patient with each and every kid in the class. After training for 10 years at excellent schools with top tier instructors in Florida, I recently moved to Grand Prairie due to a job change. I was very anxious about finding a school that would meet my expectations. After meeting Professor Michael Magness and attending my first class, I knew I found a new home. Without a doubt, this has been the best training and instruction I have experienced. This gym is amazing! They have a morning class and an evening class during the week so it fits into my schedule perfectly.Coach magness is a great coach. My son (6) and daughter (5) have been going to Magness BJJ for 6 months. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and work well with the students. I currently train at a Renzo Gracie affiliate in NYS, but I have trained here as a visitor many times. There is an open and friendly atmosphere that reminds me of my home gym. I always feel welcome and learn something new with every visit. There is great open mat space with plenty of room to roll and drill. My young niece and nephew also train there and they are great with the kids as well!

This is a great place to learn and grow. I started coming to this gym with no prior experience and every person Ive met is friendly, helpful, and genuinely cares about helping each other become better. This is the only gym Ive ever attended, and I have no intention of changing.

Weve been taking our two little boys (5 & 6) to Magness BJJ for a little over 6 months and all we can say is WOW! They love it, we love it! All the instructors/coaches work very well with children, we feel very comfortable there. Parents and coaches have been very friendly since day 1. The boys have learned so many skills and lessons in the past six months and have become more confident, we can definitely tell a difference. We really enjoy how close this gym is to Midlothian and that classes are offered to kids Monday through Thursday! We highly recommend Magness BJJ as a wholesome activity for children.

Michael has such great patience with the young kids in his class. He teaches calmly and consistently and helps the kids stay focused while understanding that 5 year olds will be 5 year olds. Haha.The gym is welcoming and encouraging for beginners. I started a month ago at age 28 (never took a martial arts class in my life) and from day 1, everyone is encouraging and tries to help you practice and learn techniques. It’s a great workout.

The first time I went into Magness, I felt so welcomed by everyone training! As I personally keep going 2-3 times a week, it’s something I look forward to in my day. One of the best BJJ Gyms in Dallas area! I recently evacuated because of Hurricane Laura from Louisiana and they took me in with open arms. Theres a lot of which makes this gym so incredibly amazing but Ill start with the most important areas-1) EXCELLENT TECHNICAL BJJ INSTRUCTION - The teaching staff breaks things down in great ways and also give you a ton of attention. Professor Magness and their other coaches made sure I could not only perform the techniques taught, but also understood them and their principles. I also like how he does core value patches for the kids program which teaches them to not only excel on the mats but off of them as well! Other positives are his positional training style of jiu jitsu that he implements.2) NO EGOS - This is a rare gym where you have true champions training with you on a daily basis and there is no enforced hierarchy. Professor Magness teaches everyone and is one of the most down to earth guys youll meet. This same thing goes for all the instructors and kills all the egos in the gym, cult mentality and so on. I have been to many gyms that have those problems and you will not find that at Magness BJJ!3) TEAM SUPPORT - If you train there, you train hard and you get to know people on a different level. To put things in perspective if I am going through a tough time being on the mats is one of the best things, but in addition to that I am also around an entire support system of well grounded men and women. In a different perspective, no matter who you are at that school you will get support.4) Magness BJJ TRAINS HARD - Im 35 years old as I write this. I do not have the energy as I once did, nor the recovery. Professor Magness is also around my age, as well as some of the other upper belts. I never knew what I had in me until I trained at Magness BJJ in the heat and I have been training BJJ for 7 years. They train very hard, but you can do it. If you are in the area please hit them up and give their academy a try!

My family (son and wife) and I started going to Magness in November 2019 after going to a different BJJ gym for about a year and a half. The difference, especially for my son, was like night and day. The structure of the classes, the fact that there are more than enough coaches present for the kids to get proper instruction, and just that simple fact that they remembered my sons name (its not the most common of names) his second day in class was more than enough to convince us that this was the gym for us. My wife and I started classes this month and the overall friendly, yet challenging environment is just what we have been looking for in a gym. Magness BJJ is seriously for real!! I started my two boys in a reputable gym 2 years ago. We’ve participated in tournaments and have seen much competition. When we first arrived to Magness BJJ our eyes were opened to how a professional, dedicated, clean and welcoming gym was supposed to look like. Needless to say, my boys have blossomed in only a month and I’ve noticed their new found love for the sport they fell in love with. I cannot say enough good things about the coaches at Magness BJJ.

When I first came to the facility last year for the trial week, I knew on day one that my kids would train here going forward. I was impressed with how the coaches tend to each child and how patient they are with them. My children, ages 9 and 6, have trained at Magness for a year and I couldn’t be more pleased with the progress they have made in such a short period of time.Magness doesn’t just teach great Jijitsu but also reinforces core values that are very important for kids to learn. A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH!Being a newbie to Jiu-Jitsu and really not knowing where to start my journey, I came across Magness BJJ by chance having looked all over the metroplex for a gym that would welcome me in, fit my work schedule, be affordable, have a variety of students of different skill levels, and most of all not make me feel intimidated by my newness to BJJ.I signed up for the 7-day free, no pressure trial, in hopes that Magness BJJ would give me all that I was looking for. Only 2-weeks in but I wish that I would have found them sooner. Being 52 yrs old and walking into a new gym with a variety of belts may normally seem intimidating but not once have I felt like the new guy. I personally feel that all belts take a certain pride in helping out everyone to make us all better.I could definitely continue to tell you how much I enjoy Magness BJJ but I rather hear about your experience from you personally after your journey begins!

I have been going for 3 months after taking an 8 year break from BJJ after training for 2 years. Classes here are Great. The Instructors teach well, everyone I met is there to learn and not to try and prove something.The material is current and I am learning new things that were not around when I trained years ago and a lot of the things that I learned back then don’t work anymore.Plus the price is unbeatable and you can see the reviews are amazing. I highly recommend it. If you are advanced they have a plethora of advanced belts to roll with. If you are a beginner they have every type size and shape of white belts to train with. When I roll with the White belts There is obvious improvement every week from each one of them. This shows me that they make sure to put the students first and you have the opportunity to learn as fast as you want to.I highly recommend it.

Nothing but great things to say about Madness’ program and facility. I will say I was extremely nervous about introducing Jujitsu to my daughters at age 5 and 7. But they and I quickly learned the care, compassion, and protection each coach has for every student. Now age 9 and 11, both girls enjoy attending the classes so much, if we miss a day they give me a hard time. They’ve built long life friendships and the confidence to tackle obstacles outside of grappling. I highly recommend this gym! Oh and the unlimited classes at a flat rate helps too. :)

We really appreciate this team of professionals and the work they do. They don’t just provide technical training in the art of BJJ, but they teach the children life skills they need even off the mat. Our child has grown so much while training here. It’s been one of the best investments we’ve made.

I am very new to this journey and I am glad to make this journey with Magness. The facilities are good, the coaches are great but what I love the most are the other students. As a new student I am easy prey for anyone that wants to crush me. But the other students I have worked with are patient, instructional and really helped me learn about Jiu Jitsu. If you are a little afraid to come to your first class, that’s cool; so was everyone else when they went to their first class. Give it a shot and see how much fun it is.

We brought our son here to start training bjj. The staff and students were friendly. The coaches are very good technically, but more than that, they have earned the respect of the students. Every child is different, but weve been consistently pleased to see they give our son chances to feel proud of himself, opportunities to treat defeat as a learning experience, and the understanding to be aggressive in action while primarily respecting the health and safety of a training partner. Where do I begin, this gym is what I think about when I think of the perfect gym. The instructors and staff are extremely knowledgeable, highly motivated and just awesome people to be around! This gym has it all! Family oriented, fun environment, supportive people and a place to TRULY grow mentally and physically! The classes are intense for every level of athletes. If you want a gym that has it all, this is the place to be at.

Great place for the kids to practice self discipline while eating a slice of humble pie! Professor Mike (I call him that because hes a black belt!) also assigns homework to the kids where they have to define and explain certain words/phrases and how they relate to training and everyday life (i.e. Respect, Loyalty, Persistence, Sportsmanship, hyperbole). Hes a great coach and creates an awesome family environment too.My kid loves the Hawaiian kids instructor. Hes compassionate, funny, dedicated yet firm. He has the ability to modify his coaching style to meet the learning needs of all of the kids. He explains techniques and strategies so that its easy for them to understand. Hes humble but very easy on the eyes. Rumor has it he used to model but he feels a greater reward in giving back to his community instead of making a lot of money on the runways and photo ops in New YorkThe other coaches are nice too.

This place is awesome!!!! The instructors are very knowledgeable and you truly feel like youre family here. Weve been coming for over a year and we love it. Its very affordable and there are no surprise charges. Its a flat monthly fee. Its a great workout and they have separate classes for kids and adults.

We visited this facility while on vacation and were thrilled. It is sizable and extremely well maintained. Seems to have everything you need and a very positive environment. Staff is very friendly.We will definitely be back!

Theyve keep the price about 60% below the other gyms in the area without cutting any corners. For example: the location is better than a lot of other gyms Ive been to (parking lot is safe, no break-ins to my knowledge, and large mats, clean facilities, etc.), the coaching is great (they consistently bring home team trophies from tournaments), and theres a variety of training partners for all sizes, strengths, and skill levels. If you prefer to go light theres plenty of opportunity, and if you want to roll hard and test yourself you wont be disappointed with the level of competition available.Also, you can go month to month here whereas some other gyms in this area have required a one year contract.Best gym by far.

Ive been training at Magness since late August of 2018. Not only have I learned a great number of skills from the coaches, but from my training partners as well. Theres a strong sense of community here that motives me to keep attending.

Magness is a great Brazilian jujutsu school with a family atmosphere. The owner is very knowledgeable, teaches with structure and actual lessons. Magness has children classes, adult classes and even women only classes for every level. Just walking into the school you feel at home and comfortable. I can’t wait for my youngest to start jujitsu there, I know she will do great!

I like to come and watch my kids learn the art. It is a wonderful life skill that they can take with them there whole life. Highly recommend this place.

We love this gym! All the coaches are great! You can really tell how much they care by their interaction with the kids. I wouldn’t want my daughter to train anywhere else! What she has learned goes beyond the mat, not only do they teach BJJ but also respect, courage, integrity and so much more.

Came in as a curious kid and was quickly greeted and treated like family. After years of hard training I became a kids coach and the level of respect, patience, and guidance that all coaches at Magness give the kids has been passed on to me .Working with kids for many years of my life and growing up with a mother who owned multiple daycares I was super impressed with how the coaches made everything super simple as well as fun for the kids .I’m super happy to be contributing to it as an adult now . I love Magnesss approach to novices. Theyre patient and instructive. My 12 year-old son just started and they had him feeling like a part of the team from day one. I’ll start off by saying how phenomenal this school is. I have zero experience in jiu jit su and after my first day I was no longer scared to look like an outcast. I was no longer afraid to show that I had zero experience. The coaches and even the students are super motivating and give reassurance that you’re doing great. They don’t just let you walk in here and get tossed around. They take time in teaching their students the works and foundations to things. It’s usually hard for me to stick to training for example like going to the gym but after my first class, Magness has been my go to. I highly recommend this school to any law enforcement personnel as these techniques can be used on the street, and if you have children don’t make that an excuse, they have kid classes as well. I promise this will save your life!

My 5 year old has only been going a short while but just gets so excited to go to class she loves it. I love how the instructors teach, they make it fun and memorable. Such an awesome atmosphere. Im so glad we decided to join the Magness BJJ family. Cant wait for my little boy to be old enough to join as well.

And the classes are broken up to a even skill set after the other schools this one is one my son will go to for years. My son has excelled and he absolutely LOVES attending classes. He has only been in class for about six months and is about to participate in his first tournament - there is no way he would have been confident enough to do anything like that before. Theres no Hackle here and theres no lies if anything I took off the review my wife told me and yes my kids still go there and no Mark Herrera dont go to your class my kids are the ones that go to your gym you dont have my name or anything on your system my wife takes care of that and you know its true what I wrote on there. If anyting I took it off because my wife told me but now that I see that all of a sudden somebody posted a fake review to give you the five stars again. You had said you were report me to Google for the review everybody has them on their business website so people can leave reviews. You think I will give up my wife and my kids name so you could give them a hard time being there last month in your gym its already been paid for so thats the reason its the last month they are going. Even if you find a way to take this review down its not just us plenty of more parents in your gym that are unhappy. So be honest and stop with the fake5 star reviews. And dont ever call me a Hackle I think the only Hackle here is the main Professor that runs that damn business. And before I forget the patches you make these kids work for in the gym about honesty in hard work and respect how about you try working for some of those too see how many you can get what throws me off how does somebody that acts the way you act earns a black belt.

This is a great family atmosphere, with great coaching staff! My brother David has progressed very well with great one on one training!

My 3 boys have been been comng here for over 3 years. I believe it builds their self esteem and they have fun. It is totally worth it.

Has been a family affair for our family and have enjoyed every minute of it! The confidence level of our children has grown exponentially and have made new friendships. Instruction is always led by head instructor and always has assistants with him to make sure children are following proper technique instruction.

Just like all the other reviews Coach Michael, Anthony and Team Magness are nothing short of amazing. The material is fantastic but one thing I would like to emphasize is the family environment. Not about a kids and adult class but the feel of the team. I had discomfort from hitting my knee and decided to take some time off. Right when my knee was starting to feel better I rolled my ankle on a jog. In total I was out of training for 3 almost 4 months. Going back to Magness BJJ I was nervous because I couldnt shake the feeling I let my family down by not being there. When I did come back it was to open arms and no harassment about missing time. I know in my heart this place is where I want to grow, advance in rank and spend my time on the mat. I am definitely giving this place 5 stars.John

I travel a lot and visit gyms in the areas Im at. Magness BJJ is one of my favorites. Mike is an excellent instructor. If you are interested in learning the sport, or want a place for your kids to learn discipline and gain self confidence, then this is the academy for you and/or your kids. Theres always a ton of people on the mat of all shapes, ages and abilities.

We love Magness BJJ. The coaching staff is absolutely amazing with the children. My son was a bit intimidated about starting since he didnt know anybody. Coach Magness shadowed him until he felt comfortable. It was really frustrating to see my son try to adapt to a fresh new environment, but each and every staff member made sure to make the transition painless. 100% recommendation

My children go to this placed. They are really wounderful with the kids. They are very interactive with the kids. My kids are even behaving better at home. Not only do they teach the kids jiu-jitsu they also teach them life skills as well. Excellent place. I would highly recommend this to anyone ..

I practice for competition here. I love the coaches and even after the first day I went, I felt like I knew their system and I was so comfortable around the coaches. This place is truly awesome

We are new to this school, but were welcome from day one. My son loves going to class again and it is wonderful to see.There is always plenty of coaches on the mat everyday and no playing around on the mat in class is so important. The environment is so conducive to learning. Cant say enough great things about this school.

We have been training for over a year, I could not happier. The facility is clean well maintained,but most important the coaches are awesome. There is always plenty of coaches who are patient and knowledgeable. I love this place.

This is by far the best school around. They have it all from stand up to ground game. You must come check it out you will love it.

In my opinion the best jiujitsu academy in the area, coaches are super knowledgeable and patient, great atmosphere. Everyone there is willing to help you be the best version of yourself . Don’t be scared to stop by you’d be surprised how welcoming everyone is . From personal experience I recommend this academy to anyone and everybody .
