Rarely have we been as impressed with a service company and service professional as we were with Family Appliance Repair. It was clear from the very beginning that he was highly professional, including keeping us apprised of his arrival time and arriving a little earlier than he anticipated. He even cleaned up a small spill in our laundry room! He diagnosed the problem immediately, fixed it promptly, and provided us with some important and very helpful tips to prevent the issue from happening in the future. We have found our forever appliance repair company--weve never had a repair company provide the high level of service that Family Appliance Repair did.
I called to schedule an appointment to replace what I suspected to be a faulty inlet valve on our dishwasher. My call was returned promptly and while he agreed that it was a problem with the valve, he made a suggestion that saved me a lot of money on a repair! The dishwasher is fully functional again! I will definitely use them the next time that I have a problematic appliance!
I called late on a Thursday evening. They scheduled a service call the next day. The service technician arrived near the beginning of the arrival window and got to work immediately. He diagnosed the issue very quickly, made the fix, and was done in short order. The price was perfectly reasonable. Some people might complain at the price, based on the amount of time the technician worked, but my perspective is that I am paying for all the education and experience that allowed him to make quick and efficient work. He also took the time to educate my wife (who was the one available, while I was working) on some of the basics of what went wrong and what his fix entailed. This was a perfect experience and I know who to call if an appliance ever goes down. Thanks!
Bobby was a pleasure to work with. Had a washer that kept over flowing, after diagnosis the part came in quick and he had it installed in an hour or so. Family Appliance offers same day business. Bobby was scheduled to come to my home at 5:30 pm, but he got a flat tire. He asked if he could come after he took care of the flat. He called me around 9:30 pm and came and looked at my washer for me.It was late but he kept his word. When he arrived he was so nice and so professional.He told me what was wrong with the washer. Ive never had a company do a service call at 10pm.I didnt mind. I had to work the next day and didnt have to worry about the 4 hour window to wait for service.I thought this was pretty amazing customer service.I hope they do just as amazing fixing the washer as well.

I contacted Family Appliance around 5:30 pm on Saturday evening. Rick called me back within 15 minutes. My refrigerator had completely stopped running. Rick made an appointment for Monday morning but had me try a self fix first. By 7:00 pm, my refrigerator is running properly. This type of consideration and help is almost a thing of the past. Thank you Family Appliance Repair.
I am only going to give you the facts. I contacted this guy to help me with a freezer that was working at half capacity. He was rude on the phone. When he entered the home, he left his car running outside which in my mind was a bad sign. He did not accurately diagnose the issue with my freezer. After pulling everything out of the freezer and restarting the back fan, he communicated that it was fixed. He did not verify that they fan would stay operational and not malfunctioning. He never looked at anything else in the freezer. After putting everything back together, he said that after a few hours, the freezer should be cold again. If it was not that I should give him a call to come back out. He charged $200 for the service visit because of the same day visit. The next morning I texted him and called him twice to inform him that the freezer still was not working. He has never contacted me back. I contacted Angie List, got a different company who diagnosed it correctly fixed everything wrong with the Freezer and the other items that were never identified. Again, these are just the facts of my service visit. I would be very cautious with this company. SAD!
Rick, the owner, is amazing! Our freezer was leaking and the ice maker was not working, he was very knowledgeable about the issues and did not leave my house until everything was working perfectly.Same when we called him regarding the microwave, fixed the problem and even went to the store to buy the needed part.On top of the great professional service, you can’t beat his price.I highly recommend him!

I called Family Appliance Repair hoping to set up a quick appointment to fix my dryer since I had a load of wet clothes waiting to be dried. I called at 8:00 am in the morning on a Saturday and got an appointment for 10-Noon window of time. Ricky called 20 minutes before to tell me he was on his way. Luckily it was a simple, quick fix that did not require any parts or much labor. Ricky checked other areas to make sure there were no other problems and was thorough. He only charged me for the service call and a small portion of the labor charge. There is a 90 day guarantee on the the service call. I appreciated the fact that he was fair about the price and honest about the issue and didnt try to sell me anything I didnt need. I would recommend this company for your appliance repairs.
Don’t waste your time contacting Rick, owner of Family Appliance.He came out on a Sunday to repair my washer. He said he was going to be there at 2:30, but didn’t show up until almost 6. (Should have been the first red flag) He poked around, took a few things apart, supposedly found the issue and repaired it. I got through 1 load of laundry the next day, and it started acting up again. (I did not over load my washer as I was skeptical about the supposed fix) I called him right after it happened. He said he would be out Tuesday at 10:30 with the part to fix it. He assured me that he would get it taken care of and that I could trust him. He also said repeatedly that he warrantees all his work. When Tuesday came, I called him in the morning to make sure we were still good. He said yes and that he would be out there at 10:30. When 10:30 came around, he was a no show. I contacted him multiple times that day and the following days and still have yet to get a reply. Clearly he is not a man of his word which is a shame. Rick is quick to accept cash and then turn his back. Not loyal to his customers, and clearly not professional. I advise you to call someone other than Family Appliance. I have screen shots of all our messages and call log to back up my issue with him.
Came to fix my grill, never quoted any price for a service call, said he would take a look at it. He was a no show at least twice, ordered wrong parts, took $167 from me and wont refund my money. New grill repair company came and ordered right parts, showed up on time and repaired promptly. Full of excuses.Invoice said...Deposit of 167.00 towards the 427.00 price. Parts should be in by 5/29
Rick was very professional and attended at short notice. He correctly diagnosed the problem, where 2 other supposedly experts could not. The problem turned out not to be the dishwasher but a defective Breaker. Rick went out of he way to go to the hardware store and purchased an replacement, fitted it and solved the problem that had been going on for over 4weeks.Rick was a good communicator, always updating me on arrival time. DO NOT USE! Called on a Sunday and he showed up within a few hours. Diagnosed the issue and then tried to order a part online. Told me I had to write him a check for the full amount. When I questioned it, he gave some story about how one of his customers never paid him and because of that he changed his policy. It’s been over 4 weeks with me calling and texting with no response. I would never recommend this company as it seems he is quick to accept cash but once received he will not show up.
Talked with RICK LUNA and he gave me a 11-1 window but did not call or show up. Contacted him again at 1:39 and he told me he would be there in 45 minutes. I called him again at 3:45 and he got an attitude and hung up because I wanted to know his ETA. Would not recommend!!!!!!!

The refrigerator in my house didn’t work. I called Family Appliance. The business owner Ricky came to my house on May25th. He diagnosed refrigerator and suggested to replace motor control of compressor. And he promised that he can fix it. He asked me to pay full amount $283(he told me that new part has 3years warranty!) I issued check to him same day. He left my house after repair, he old me that he will call me back two hours later. Unfortunately he hasn’t fixed the refrigerator, 2 days later he came back and checked it again, same result. He promised again that he will fix it within two days. Next day, he told me that he will order a compressor. Long story short, he hasn’t responded my text messages and voice mails, although he has told me that he will give me refund . Yesterday, he picked up my call that he will come over to tear down the part and pay me back,( I told him during holiday that I had to buy a new refrigerator, the new one will be arrived this Sunday). however, he didn’t showup or give me a call or return my texts as what he told me.Unbelievable! This company is not customer -oriented, the owner is not professional who has very poor attitude. and they cannot be trusted. I highly recommend you DO NOT CHOOSE this company . I hope you could see this message and be able to make wise decisions on selecting a REAL PROFESSIONAL . I believe there are many appliance repair companies in the market. Rick is amazing!! I called him because I was having issues with getting someone out from my home warranty. I ask him to do a quote to fix the fluctuation of the oven temp. He offered to walk me through fixing it myself to help save money and even called to follow up! My oven is working properly! Free of charge!! Very unprofessional!Spoke with the owner of the company the first day. He reassured me he would get someone out to take care of our dryer. His tech contacted me and set up an appointment...he never showed; said his van broke down on the side of the road and that he would be out the following day at noon. Well noon came the next day and of course....another no show from this company! Called him several times, he finally answered and argued with me that he had a different time down. I informed him I have the call recorded and he yells: “GOODBYE!” and hangs up on me.My mouth literally dropped.Cannot believe he didn’t take responsibility for his unprofessionalism and make it right. Called family appliance for a fridge repair.. He filled the fridge with coolant.. charged me $300 and never had one ice cube. Worse part is, no call backs or return text for 1 year guarantee/ warranty. Still when I call he will not answer. Was not even at my house for 1hour :(
Called to have ice maker fixed. Owner brought his child to home during a pandemic, proceeded to say the area we lived was overrated and schools were not great, and put in what turned out to be the wrong ice maker. Later that night we heard it making a weird sound and found the ice maker pouring water all over our freezer. Shut it off and asked him to come back out. Days of texts and phone calls only for him to commit to a Saturday morning visit, tell me he was on his way, and never showed up. Very unprofessional, no commitment to guarantee and we are out $300 and are buying bags of ice from the gas station. Buyer beware.

Called Rick to see about getting our stove fixed and determined it was a spark module that needed replaced. He said he had one and would be a quick repair and would be over later that day. Later that day became later that night, which became the next day, and eventually he stopped responding and never ended up coming or responding to calls or texts even after promising that we had an appointment set up and hed send a screenshot.Im just glad I didnt pay any money like some of the other poor souls that were taken advantage of.
While the owner is a honest and will eventually set things right, he is basically a one man show that has no ability to manage his time, schedule, and customer service. Took over a week from initial service call to a working washing machine and during that time a scheduled appointment was missed with not contact and was unresponsive as he was out of town. The fault was with the person he hired to work on it, but the result is still lousy customer service.But he eventually got it fixed with a warranty. But a few weeks later it now is making a horrible noise like there is a screw or something that should not be in there. After 3 days I have been unable to get them to answer the phone or texts and will have to pay for another company to come fix his screwup.

I called this morning in hopes to get a quote for someone to come out and replace my heating element in my Samsung Dryer. I called family appliance to have a dryer vent installed Rick came that day install the dryer vent at the time Rick was at my home I was experiencing Several issues with plumbing and my furnace Rick took the time to explain to me what was wrong And gave his recommendations on how to very cost effectively repair all the damages Rick even went online to show me the cost of parts that were needed even a video on how to fix the issues I was having that day it seem like everything in my house was falling apart and I had other technicians give me estimates on what I needed which apparently was a whole new furnace Rick gave me an estimate inexpensively how my furnace could be fixed needless to say I hired him on the spot because he appeared to be extremely knowledgeable technician And very honest he was more interested in helping me as his customer and the most honest and reasonable way possible instead of trying to fill deep pockets financially like other companies I have had to deal with Rick from Plainfield Indiana family appliance is the only company person I will call for any future needs thanks Rick You’re the best
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY/GUY!!!!! The guy showed up and messed around for a couple hours. Said I needed a new part and that he would order and be back in 2 days. We put a 50% deposit down on work and parts. Called when he didnt show. Said part wasnt in stock but would be by the next day because another store had it. Called the next day when he was supposed to be by, he said he was in court. Said he would be by the next day with part to fix. Never showed. Stopped answering texts and calls. Never got anything fixed. Had to find someone else to fix.
Our fridge stopped working mid afternoon after my wife had come home with a giant load of groceries. We quickly looked for someone to help us get this fixed.After a few attempts at other local businesses I reached Rick. He helped identify the possible problem on the phone and was able to come get it fixed that evening so we didnt lose all our new groceries.Rick was able to quickly get the fridge working, diagnosed the actual problem (which saved us money and future repairs) and then helped with ideas to make things more efficient.Well be using him for a few other projects soon.

Rick at Family Appliance repair was awesome to say the least. I was struggling with my dryer not drying clothes even though I tried cleaning the vent last night. He took his time ensuring he got the vent completely cleared for me. He went out of his way to clear another vent that was clogged, that I didnt even know about. He cleared that as well for me without even thinking of charging me more money. He makes you feel like family not just someone showing up to take your money. He cleaned up every bit of mess that came out of the vents and even got behind the washing machine which he didnt have to move at all. I am happy to have my dryer working again and we surly, not only be recommending him to others, be using him again for any future repairs. Thanks again Rick!

My refridge smelled like something was burning. Freezer was full of food. Were all home on quarantine. I called my prior service provider and (for the 3rd time this year) they couldnt get to me for DAYS! My mom told me about Family, who had done service for her in the past. The owner was out within HOURS, assessed the job quickly; explained it, showed me the part, and did the repair. I will definitely use his services again when the need arises.*Caution to call the correct number. Theres an older number that came up in my Google search, different from the one on the website itself, that is no longer active.UPDATE: I WILL NOT BE USING AGAIN NOR CAN I RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICE!So subsequently I found that my refrigerator and freezer were not cooling even when set on highest cooling setting. I called FA back at the number that showed up in the Google Search. Kept getting voice mailbox full message for days. Then finally one day I clicked on the website URL to find a different number and connected right away with the owner. He came out and said I needed refrigerant. He took responsibility for not having attended to that the first time and said hed ordered my type but it wasnt in. He said hed have it resolved by the end of that week (3 days later).Two-and-a-half weeks and multiple phone calls later, he has not returned! He was initially taking my calls and making promises ...tomorrow afternoon....will call before coming.... But all this past week he has not answered nor returned my calls.Now Ill be paying for yet another service call, and possibly a new fridge, not to mention the food waste, and there are 3 of us home at all times during Quarantine.

Called Family Appliance to my work at the China Wok the tech Rick found that the motor on the exhaust was bad he looked you part showed me the part cost was 436 dollars at grainger he went and paid for it an bought other parts needed he gave us the receipts to everything. He paid over 700 on parts and spent 2 days doing the repair but got it done and only charge a Labor charge I will deffently be calling him back for here or my home thank you Rick you done a great job!
Memorial Day, and my dryer wasnt working. I contacted Family Appliance and am glad I found them. Rick came out quickly and found the problem. Gave me the option of repairing or replacing the part, which I really appreciated. Quickly made the repair and put everything back, nice and neat. He was professional, personable and very courteous. Ricky was awesome. He was very responsive. I had a microwave that went out on Saturday, and called Ricky the first thing in the morning, he called back after 10 mins and was able to come all the way over to my house the same day. After doing multiple checks on parts, Ricky told me it’s better to just get a new microwave, he helped me pick out a new one and went to Lowe’s picked it up himself then brought it back and installed it. By the end of the day I had a new and working microwave. Ricky didn’t even charge me for all the parts that he used to test out the old microwave, he only charged me installation fee which was less than what was originally estimated. I would call him again for any other appliance issues in the future.
Complete rip off. Tried to charge me $240 for wiping the intake water line off to my washing machine. Roughly 15 min of easy work. Will not use the service again. So wanted to stay local, went with this guy. He was attentive to get in our house. Came over quick. Fixed appliance, we were under his warranty 3 weeks later same thing. Said he was coming over, to fix. Never heard from him again. I sent 5 messages will not reply to fix. DONOT USE THIS GUY!Update^^ same day as post 9:43pm on 6.08.2020, he has now found my wifes number and my own and has called and texted us both angrily, because he never did work for us thats how he got it, cause that makes sense, doesnt look that way lol. Now he looks like a crazy person. I will be contacting the police about harrassment.
I called Family Appliance last week to repair my washing machine. He came out the next day and looked at the machine and said we needed a new motor. He didnt have the money to go and get the part and we understood because hes a small business of one. Its his business and he is the only repairman. We used PayPal to pay for the part at a business that he uses. Response to your reply:You lie what about the other people you have not returned their money to.
Rick did not complete the job left my dishwasher in pieces was suppose to come back and finish the job and he never called or came back . I tried to contact him and he didn’t answer his phone or respond to my text messages . But he did take my money .
They have fixed 2 major items dryer and microwave. FA always do a great job and are very affordable.
I would give negative stars if possible. This guy was 4 hours late and when I called there was no response even though I called multiple times. The next day I called again and was told he got busy and couldnt call me. He came finally and seemed to know what he was talking about. We paid $150 and hoped the kegerator was fixed. The next day or still wasnt working and so we called back. We didnt get and answer after repeatedly calling and texting. Finally we used a different phone number and his wife said he had a seizure and was in the hospital. We asked for a refund and one was promised. After being told their bank account didnt work and they would get it to us soon and all hear other problems, we called the Better Business Bureau. The BBB told us they couldnt contact him. DUH! We are not the first ones with this problem. If you want to just pay your money and not get anything fixed these are your guys.
I was promised a refund, but after calling and texting many times I realized Id be had. I called Rick for a refrigerator repair. He came out the same day and made the repair. Unfortunately, the repair didnt solve the problem and Rick came back out; he offered to refund $200 of the $260 I paid and to help find a new used refrigerator. I found a refrigerator and asked Rick for the refund. Each time I called or texted hed promise to meet me that day or to drop off the refund with my tenant, but each time he was a no show.
