Got one word advise for anyone using or thinking about using this State Farm location... RUN!!!!!!
Ive inquired several times about adding wifes car to policy and bundlingrenters insurance and have yet to get a response. I have called and emailed and he does not return calls or emails. I had to call the 1800 number to get a quote. they said they will forward to local agent to finalize. Its been a little over a month and no call or email. So I left and found new insurance. Ive talked to the new insurance more this week then I have ever the entire time I was with him,
I have have used this agency for over 30 years with no issues. I referred my mother who had both home & auto insurance. My brothers also use Mel Hansberry as their insurance agent. We all have been very happy with this company and had no problems. And, no we are not relatives or close friends with the Hansberrys.

I moved to new address and provided it to front desk .i been getting junk mail from them to new address.after few month I called to add car and I was told that your policy canceled 2 month ago.they sent notice to old address .they have my cell should call me to find out if mailing address has issue .then superveiser never called me after I left voicemail.i will file complaint with commission
Makes changes without consulting customers:Ive been with this agent for some time now. And he has changed the deductible on my home insurance from two thousand to five thousand without consulting me. He has changed my auto insurance from $250 to $500 without my permission. I just found out today that he changed my 25 year term life that was $9 a month to a five year term at $33 monthly payments, also without consulting me. I am so sick of this snake I am dropping State Farm altogether. I hope this saves someone before they do business with this agent.Anthony Ward
After having a whole life policy with Mel for over 20 years, it has been impossible to get him to return phone calls/reply to emails to increase coverage with the contracted Guaranteed Insurance Option on my policy. For two weeks I have tried getting someone to answer my questions from their office and cannot get a response back.I will be switching homeowners policy to another company and will be switching agents for the whole life insurance policy.
I have been with Mel Harnsberyy since 1992. They have failed maintaining policies and yesterday without notice, termed my home insurance coverage. They informed my mortgage companies of LIES and told them that my home was vacant - my home in Clinton, MD, is lived in by myself and my two children. Mel has termed my disability coverage, childrens life insurance coverage, and now my home inusrance. I will be reporting him immediately to the Maryland Insurance Administration. DO NOT USE this company, they never answer the phone, and when they do, you have to constantly speak with the specialist (Cynthia and Vicki), who are never available, and does not respond to emails or messages they want you to leave. This company has gone down hill since Alicia left in the early 1990s! He is an embarasment to his Fraternity, just a poor representation as a franchise owner! Once they sell you a policy, they do not want to assist you at all after that - I now know why my sister and parents left them a long time ago. I will be removing my the remaining 7 policies with them - they are the worst!
