Had a flood in our basement and had Ben from American Water Damage out to help dry up the water. Good service at the beginning but very soon after it was terrible. No communication, no phone calls back, no emails back, would go unanswered for days. Once the bill came he charged for items never done to our home and when talking with him about it he would say he would remove items and then put them back in. Got estimates with one number on them and then get another after talking with him and it was higher then the previous estimate. As the homeowner and trying to understand the billing and where prices were coming from he became very rude and unprofessional. Wont be recommending and wont work with him again.

They came out on new years eve and helped with a leak in the ceiling. They told me about the process and told me I could save myself money and do it myself, which I did. Love that they are not looking to rip people off, I will have them come in and do the finish work.

Water was left on in sink with plug still in drain. Approximately 20 to 25 gallons of water soaked into carpet and on top of wooden floor. I called American Water Damage and they were out within the hour with fans and dehumidifiers. Very professional and knowledgeable company when it comes to mitigating potential water damage. I highly recommend American Water Damage for any and all water cleanup and restoration needs. They are pros !

I wouldn’t recommend this company beyond mitigation and initial water cleanup. They responded fast and were very thorough in drying out our basement, but the general contracting crew was terrible. It was usually one guy at a time and the guy repairing the drywall and painting rarely arrived to our house earlier than 2pm because he “couldn’t get up” and was at our house until 8pm most nights. We have young kids that go to be before 8pm usually. He also didn’t clean up well for the next guy which delayed the process getting done. When I have had work done in the past it is usually a team of guys working together to get projects done, this company seemed to only work one guy at a time and it majorly delayed the project and delayed our refinancing of the house. They were nice, but definitely could have communicated more and with better professionalism.Mitigation was great, go with another company for the rebuild phase of you have water damage.

Thumb’s up to American Water DamageLook no further! This company is great! My basement flooded and I hadn’t a CLUE where to turn. I spent several frustrating hours on the phone calling one company after another to get help and was bounced around with versions of “Go ask your Mom--Go ask your Dad” (“We don’t do that, try calling…………” Or, “This isn’t the right department.”) Finally, and thankfully, I reached Mr. Ben Bristow of AMERICAN WATER DAMAGE. He truly was my knight in shining armor. He came to my house on a Sunday evening, assessed the situation, and walked me through every step of what needed to be done. From then on, he essentially held my hand through the entire process. It was a huge relief. He’s funny, warm, personable and knows his stuff. He helped me file a claim, got a company called First Team into action collecting all my wet belongings, helped locate a plumber, followed up and kept me informed. I was impressed with the level of service I received. Todd, the owner of AMERICAN WATER DAMAGE even stopped out to check on things. If you need rescuing or restoration from water damage, this should be your first call!!!

The mitigation crew was great. I would never recommend the general contractor and his crew to anyone. There has not been one thing that has gone smoothly or correct. We first went 6 weeks without counters after they started the work. They then installed countertops that we hadn’t even had a sample of and they were not caulked in. They did partially fix the counter issue- we still have uncaulked portions of counter. Our flooring is halfway done and installed over our existing laminate which will void the warranty. This has been the slowest, most frustrating experience. I feel as if we have to babysit to be sure the work is done properly, I cannot trust this crew. DO NOT USE PAST WATER MITIGATION.Edit: the team has owned up to their failures and is working hard to make things right. This has been a difficult experience but I do appreciate the efforts made to resolve the matter. Thanks Todd and John for the resolution!

Highly recommend! This is a local business with integrity, professionalism, and the know-how. They answered the phone on a weekend evening after our pipe burst and calmly evaluated the situation with us with an eye toward both timing & cost. They arrived on-time, were highly adept in communicating the situation and our options, and worked with us in a very flexible yet reassuring way. At the end of it all, they even charged less than what we had agreed upon! (Who does THAT anymore?) During an unnerving time, they put us at ease, got the job done & were very fair with the price. Thank you, Ben, Ryan & AWD Mpls!

The mitigation crew was great. I would never recommend their remodeling crew. Our kitchen was slowly remodeled over a 10 month period and never finished. It wasnt until corporate needed payment that they even offered to finish the job. Extremely unpleasant experience, and the general contractor ghosted us the last 5 months.

American Water Damage in Minnesota did an excellent job in restoring my lower level. The main water valve to my house broke in August and caused water damage to my lower level carpet, utility room and bathroom. The team from American Water Damage was professional, timely and helpful. This was a stressful situation for me and everyone who came to my house was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend American Water Damage company based in Burnsville, MN.

I made the mistake of using this company for restoration in my home after water damage was cleaned up. It took almost two months to lay carpet and repaint the basement. The contractors the manager hired had no care of the belongings in my home and had to return to the property multiple times to fix mistakes. There was no care or caution before doing anything...sanding dust all over my entire home. Mud left all over the laundry room and various things in my house. The only reason it is not zero stars is because the manager John accommodated us and tried to resolve issues when they were brought up.Ive been having a very busy month with other issues in my home and work life. After all of this, the receptionist has the gall to call and threaten to put a lien on my home because I didnt return one phone call. Where was this sense of urgency when working on my house? Unbelievable.

Ben Bristow was professional, attentive and provided an honest assessment and thorough remediation of a small water intrusion problem (which was easily repaired). He was on the job almost immediately and returned daily for several days to check progress to complete resolution, keeping us apprised and answering all of our questions. Would definitely recommend.

They did an excellent job of removing the mold, and ensuring everything was cleaned up afterwards. They were extremely patient during the claim process as payment was delayed due to insurance. They also offered a great referral of an adjuster that helped with the claim.

Reasonably responsive clean-up and move crew. Very poor in-house craftsmen/carpenters/sheet-rock and painters. Poor messy final clean-up and end of work day cleaning. Know how to over charge ins. co. with Exactimate ins. prog. (dont do some of the work proposed) Poor communication and planing by job Sup. Very poor project management. Sheet rocked over furnace air intake?? Messy sheet rock mudding and painting. Personal property left uncovered, dust throughout home. Hepa filtration a joke. 1 month job took 5

In April, 2017 a water pipe in our basement burst causing wall/floor damage. We hired American Water Damage to fix the pipe as well as repair our home, as the lower level bedroom and living room needed to be completely re-done. The pipe was repaired and the water dried up quickly, however, the restoration to our home was horrible. I wish there was an option to give zero stars. Before the restoration began, we were told that all of our personal belongings would be removed from the basement where the work was being completed and put into the garage. Many of our belongings were not moved and therefore damaged/ruined. In addition, items that were moved were also damaged, including a printer that was thrown into a box carelessly that the tray and face plate broke completely off.Mud for the walls was done carelessly by a contractor Wayne. It covered outlets and light-switches, doors, our personal belongings, a desk and floor lamp, both which were left filthy and broken after they were used by the contractors for convenience instead of being put into the garage with the rest of our belongings. There is still mud on our door hinges, light switches, and outlets that was not cleaned after pointing this out multiple times. John’s (Manager) response to this was that Wayne was “messy”—but apparently he was the one he had to do the job.We asked Wayne that plastic be used to cover vents and doorways before sanding was done in our home. Wayne said that this would be done no problem—our request was ignored and it was not. Thick dust covered every surface in our lower level, laundry room, and bathroom, upstairs entryway, up the stairs and into our upstairs living room. When we raised this concern to John we were told it would be cleaned. His idea of clean is very different than mine. Half of the downstairs surfaces were wiped with a cloth, the bathroom, stairway, and entryway and upstairs were not cleaned at all. We pointed this out multiple times but it was never taken care of. Dust also coated four expensive pairs of shoes we had in our entryway. All four pairs need to be professionally cleaned as the dust does not just “wipe off”. This was treated as no big deal and our attempts to get John to do something about it were futile. The workmanship in our home was despicable. Not one thing was done correctly the first time. After mudding/sanding the walls were not smooth and needed to be done again. The painting in the whole room needed to be done 3 times! The contractor hired to do the paint did not roller brush the walls, instead painted them in every which direction with a hand brush, causing ridiculous paint strokes and many patches with no coverage. When I asked him to roll, he rudely replied “Why? The only reason to roll is because it’s faster and I get paid by the hour”.The trim and baseboards were covered with nail holes, spackle, and sporadically painted to try and disguise the dents and scratches caused by being careless. In one area of our baseboards, instead of using the correct size piece, two pieces were attached with spackle. In other areas where the trim was not flush to the wall, due to the poor mudding/sanding, spackle was squirted behind to try and disguise that it did not fit.To top it off. After all of this my husband and I felt that American Water Damage was financially responsible to reimburse us for the poor workmanship on our home, the condition our home was left in, as well as our multiple personal belongings being damaged. Instead, John had his receptionist threaten to put a lien on our home for the money. John and American Water Damage clearly do not care about the satisfaction of their customers, or the qualifications of the people hired to work in client homes. Please do yourself a favor and hire ANYONE else—or you are better off doing it yourself.
