My daughters, 7 and 9 have been taking Spanish class with Liam for a few months now. I didn’t want to wait much longer before writing a well deserved review. I’m so impressed at how much Liam has had to do with their growth in Spanish speaking. Liam is phenomenal! We were very lucky to find Liam and the Art of Language Institute over two years ago. Both Liam and Caroline are both exceptional tutors that we have worked with on my daughters Spanish journey. My son was struggling with high school Spanish 2. Liam was very knowledgable with the districts Spanish curriculum and tailored the sessions to my sons exact needs. Liam was very kind & encouraging. I was able to step to the side and let my 15yo text directly with Liam to schedule sessions. We did both in person and zoom sessions during the pandemic. I felt safe knowing my son and Liam were meeting in Liams front yard with white board and all. If you are like me I had a little sticker shock with the fees, but I encourage you to look at the big picture. The goal is to learn Spanish, not get an A. Liam is a great teacher and my son was able to learn from him when the high school teacher was failing to teach effectively. There is great value in seeing your child get through a stressful class. I was very unprepared for my final course of college which was a Spanish course. Liam helped me catch up very quickly and worked with me closely to make sure i completed all assignments to the best of my ability. I ended up getting an A in the course and it was all thanks to him! I was planning a trip to Peru and was looking to get some conversational practice in before I left. I started meeting with Liam and he knew exactly what to focus on to meet the needs of my travel itinerary. I found Liam when I decided to plan an extended trip to Mexico, where Ill be staying for a few months. I worked with Liam a few years back when I used to work in food service. I found the lessons helpful not only for talking to clients, but also to be able to communicate effectively with my Spanish speaking coworkers. Liam Vogel is an excellent, patient, consistent Spanish tutor who managed to turn our Sophomores Spanish 1 grade up in a very small amount of time! I initially found Liam on google because I wanted to take some lessons to work on my conversational skills and to prep for an upcoming trip to Guatemala. Growing up in Los Angeles, I have a fair amount of vocabulary down, but Liam really helped me use it in the construction of sentences and how to apply my prior knowledge to conversing. He also has helped me to practice for traveling scenarios such as shopping, asking for directions, taking a cab, checking into a hotel etc. Another thing is that Liam has also helped me plan the details of my trip since he’s already been to Guatemala several times. It’s been really helpful to work with somebody that can help me plan my trip beyond just learning how to communicate!

Ive been taking Spanish lessons with Liam for the past year, and my experience has been outstanding. I entered our sessions with a basic conversational Spanish background, and Liam has helped me to really refine my grammar and vocabulary, in addition to teaching me all of the tenses in a structured manner. I was taking the mandatory foreign language requirement at my school and was really struggling. I thought that languages weren’t for me, but when I met with Liam he explained how everyone learns differently and that I just had to tap into different strategies and study tactics. I’ve been working with Liam for 2 months and it’s made all the difference. I initially took Spanish in College, but the pace of the course was far too accelerated. Even though that did not work out in the end, I still wanted to get some conversational skills under my belt and that’s when I contacted Liam. Over the past two months, I’ve worked with Liam on developing basic conversational skills around different topics such as travel, ordering food in restaurants and conversing with associates at work (I work in the hospitality industry). My daughter was struggling in her Spanish 2 class because she couldn’t break the habit of thinking in English to translate to Spanish. My older daughter (who earned an A in Spanish 2) tried helping her but was unsuccessful. All of this frustration made her want to give up on the class, and then we found Liam Vogel. After her 1st lesson, Liam was able to change her habit and motivate her to learn the language. He was very in-tuned with her capabilities, and could tell if she was saying she understood when she actually didn’t because he would turn the tables and have her give another example. I’ve been trying to learn Spanish for years now, but it’s been a difficult journey. I self studied for a very long time working on sentence structure, grammar, verb conjugation/tenses, vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation etc. but that didn’t mean I was able to speak. I found Liam on google because I was searching for private Spanish lessons and I finally feel like I’m making real progress. Liam assessed my level, pinpointed my strengths/weaknesses and is now helping me tie it all together. Despite being from a Mexican family I struggled to learn Spanish. Tried various online programs like Rosseta Stone but I never stuck with it. I found Liam from a google search earlier this year and he has exceeded all expectations. First I would like to point out that I live in Los Angeles, but I’m from South Georgia with a heavy southern accent. I also have been dyslexic all my life and it’s changing to and intimidating to learn a whole new language. Since day one Liam guided me with a comfortable pace that was catered to me. I have been learning a lot and now have been able to have conversations with my Puerto Rican wife. Aside from him helping me with grammar, conversion, etc. I was able to do my entire vows for my wedding back in June. If I could give Liam 10 stars I would! Last but not least, he has great people skills which is very important when you are one on one with a person you’re just getting to know. Service was great and his knowledge of the Spanish language is unlimited. I would RECOMMEND this young man to any and everyone! I have struggled with language for a while. I did 3 years of Spanish in high school, and I hated it every minute of it. To me, Spanish was a lot of conjugation and memorization.Liam taught me the beauty of Spanish, and its practicality. He made it fun, and we shared more than a few laughs. I found Liam by Googling around for a Spanish tutor close to my old office in Burbank.My friend and I, both having Spanish speaking significant others, decided to get private lessons from Liam together.Entering the first lesson during our work lunch break, I was a little apprehensive and had low expectations in all honesty. Liam is an excellent tutor. He is extremely thorough and patient. He really knows how to explain things well and is able to break things down into easily digestible pieces. And to top it off, he makes learning fun.

I work retail and often enough I have a client that speaks exclusively Spanish. I practiced with Liam to improve my basic conversational skills and work specifically on vocabulary that is relevant to my work. I now feel much more confident speaking with clients and most of them are very surprised and happy to not have to deal with a language barrier.

I do a lot of commercial auditions and sometimes they are looking for talent that is bilingual in Spanish. I don’t speak Spanish, but I’ve started working with Liam to widen my options. I’m looking forward to working with Liam on the next Spanish speaking script I get. I highly recommend him!

After not taking Spanish classes for 5 years, I took lessons with Liam the summer before my senior in order to pass 4 quarters of Spanish in the span of one quarter at UC San Diego. Without him I wouldnt have been able to get through all those courses much less have the time to spend with my friends during my last year.
