Turns out I’ve been ripping myself off doing my own taxes with turbotax. They should put a big disclaimer on the front page that says proceed at your own risk. Even with a CPA I felt like I was doing it alone and their system isn’t optimized for every tax bracket. If you make as much as I do you’re better off just going to the IRS website or actually getting a real tax service like with Jackson Hewitt. Just call them, set up an appointment and get it done quickly and accurately with every deduction you are entitled

I’ve done my own taxes through the IRS. I’ve done turbotax. I’ve been to H&R Block. I’ve had a CPA. Each had some advantages but not all advantages. Since switching to this Jackson Hewitt 4 years ago I finally feel at home. I’m always on the lookout for a better service so that says a lot.

Every year turbotax comes out with new features that supposedly make their service more user-friendly. Hire a CPA, tools and resources, blah blah blah. So not only do you have to pay to do your own taxes but they want you to pay extra when you get a much better service from Jackson Hewitt for the same cost? I think I’ll go with Jackson Hewitt, thanks.

Ive been with TurboTax for years and disappointed 90% of the time. But you get what you pay for.Myke is a breath of fresh air. First time Ive been 100% satisfied. Shes pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. I even referred a friend instantly. Ill be back every year from now on.

Tax deductions can be tricky when you have health problems for not just 1 but 3 people in the household. We have a lot of medical costs and computing those costs against health coverage is not something you can do alone or with a little online help. We tried to save money by doing it alone but ending up just losing money and getting frustrated. Jackson Hewitt was very affordable and is a big help for people like us.

If youre like me then youve tried doing your own taxes and failed. And by failed I mean didnt get all your money back. The problem is you never know until you get a tax expert like Myke to go over your returns and give you professional feedback. My whole takeaway was doing things yourself isnt always a good idea.
