Engage fails to engage our art colony. I dont even know what they do. The process to have a show in our art gallery has been made complicated by them. Weve been waiting 4 months to hear back on 10 applications. Sadly, very few artists in our building feel a connection with them or sense of belonging with them in the ace121 art gallery.
On the surface, Engage appears to be a decent organization. In Ace121 (the building I live, and the building they help the gallery, classes, and social media) theyre isolated, controlling, rude and dont involve residents in the planning of classes. The actual engagement of our building has decreased and no one wants them here.
Engage is certainly an asset to the senior community I have known Tim Carpenter for several years I want to commend Daheli Hall who I find to be an excellent teacher who teaches many classes here at the Piedmont Senior Apartment Building, among which are Spanish, French, Computer, Cooking and has also done many events. I find Daheli to be very patient, kind and intelligent most helpful to the seniors here at the Piedmont. She is a multi talented individual. Engage has certainly made an excellent choice. We are fortunate to have Daheli here teaching at the Piedmont.
The woman who runs Engage at Piedmont Senior Apartments, Lorraine, is incredibly hostile to seniors and in my opinion should not work with them. On more than one occasion she has berated my mother and treated her like a child. The activities seem to have gotten less and less as well as the quality and amount of food. Dont dare say anything of shell snap at you. When they have the occasional party, she will purchase a large amount of alcohol instead of food and non-alcoholic beverages and often takes the remaining home with her. They also provide tickets to the Hollywood Bowl which is to be first come first served. Instead, she gives the tickets to a resident who gives them out to people she likes rather than who signed up. Engage at Piedmont is a mess.
JUST Moved into (May 2018 ) NOHO SENIOR ARTSIST COLONY after touring Burbank and NoHo twice I waited for an opening at NoHo. The tour promised a myriad of social events ( 3 movies a week) ( entertainment) jewelry making classes, painting. Art, acting, improv, memoir writing., yoga, tai Che, movement.... much more. Opportunity to be creative and busy. Well the tours were all within the last 9 months and it is just lies. ONE OF THE ACTIVITIES SRE HERE!!! Engage has ended its engagement !!! Every word : lies! Also, The management advertises in A place for mom, not Artist guilds so we have a nursing home atmosphere with this being an alternative to assisted living! Engage has had one disaster program directed or another..UPDATE: still renting to incompetent and infirmed people that should be in a facility with more care, but seems like engage is trying on the arts end. New program director, high hope!
