The price is good and the equipment is good. As someone else mentioned, they need a machine for shoulder side raises. There seems to be plenty of space to add more machines as well, there is too much competition for equipment and a lot of waiting for others to finish. They need duplicates of some machines, like the nautilus machine for chest and deltoids.

It’s a great place to workout. But the gym needs more equipment like Machine side raises for shoulders and many more. The gym also needs Wifi once they fix all this I will change it to 5 stars.

It’s awesome to be back! Issac was very helpful in signing my hubby and I for our memberships!!! Gave a full tour and encouraged us to get the best package to kick of our weight loss journey! Very excited to see what’s coming for us and to start seeing results 💪🏻✨

Music during night shift at sunrise mall tru fit should be louder and needs music to pump up people. tired of listening to tiktok music during workouts.

Probably one of the dirtiest gyms in the area due poor sanitation. Gave this a gym a try and there isnt enough air circulation that you can feel the heat from everyone when the gym is at high capacity.

Had a sale member literally lie to me so I can sign up, I was told that I could down grade my account any time I wanted so I sign up and once I was signed in to a contract they said that I cant do anything because Im on contract. Be very care they will tell you want ever you want to hear just to get you to sign then you are locked in. never come here horrible customer service.

I have never been treated so badly by a company in my life. The manager attempts to use intimidation, bullying, and lies as his customer service technique. The goal is to get your money PERIOD. They do not care about customer service. The real trick is attempting to cancel your membership. They will do everything they can to stop you, except actually offer customer service to keep you. They do not honor what is written in the contract and will lie right to your face. It is impossible to escalate any issues because they keep the management of the company well hidden. Never recommend this company to anyone.

First experience at this gym was meeting the GM Erik that man has made my first gym sessions amazing. He’s a very straight forward person I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited to visit a gym it’s always clean the staff is great. The fact that this place runs this smooth proves that tru fit cares

We canceled our plan with them and they kept charging us for like 1yr and a half after we went to cancel in person. I emailed corporate and spoke to the managers and they said they can’t refund my money. Never doing business with them again.

One of the employees said that they wont charge anything to my credit card and that I can pay the 30 dollars every 7th but they charged my debit card and took 50 dollars instead of 30

Unfortunately, compared to other gyms this one sits in the bottom. Enough equipment, but a lot of them are or were out of service. Good staff nonetheless.

A lot of the other trufit gyms have new free weight racks and better equipment. I would rate this gym a 5 star if they did the same thing for Brownsville. There’s only one rack there to do free weight squats and there’s always someone using it. It’s not enough for the amount of people who exercise here. Please add some of the equipment that has been purchased for the other gyms.

Well managed and clean but problems and issues with schedule and hours. schedule says open at 7am on sundays, yet ive been there and seen it closed till 8 sometimes 830am. this after driving across town?weekday hours say 5am, others tell me its laterhard to catch a morning workout without reliable hours.

The staff is helping and curtious. Love the environment. Work out space is plenty during busy hrs. Thats a plus

Feels Great To Be Back At It 💪😊

I liked their working hours since I work until late at night, they do have room for a lot of things, I was promised a punching bag that never came while I was there, equipment is always broken, people use it as an excuse to hookup with girls, and I noticed that some people don’t even have to scan their card like every one else... I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who is serious about a good workout schedule, lockers are so small and required a special type of lock. They pick and choose what rules to enforce... can’t use chalk but you can leave your weights anywhere!

This is a great place to workout. They have spin classes and they offer other classes as well. They do have a daycare and a womens section too.

They take forever to fix the equipment..Like this machine has already 2 week with out maintenance.General mánager was advise about equipment not working and nothing has been fix..

Personally my favorite gym. Not too over crowded but enough people to encourage your own gains. 24 hrs on weekdays. If you have a plat membership you can bring a friend on the weekends for free! They always have great deals to join. Staff Ihan is always great help.

Great place to work out. Tons of machines and variety. The personal trainers there are awesome as well. Only thing is I wish they enforced no slamming of machines and wiping machines down. Too many people leave their sweat on the machines and then these idiots are over here slamming the machines because they can t handle the weight

This used to be a nice place but its fallen because of a lack of basic upkeep. More than half of the equipment in the dark room doesnt work, staff never walks the floor, equipment and benches are rarely sanitized during the day, and the AC is either always broken or off.

Clean more and have more sanitation wipes

Been going to this place for about a month now and I am satisfied with my results and the facility. The staff is great, but they can improve on their customer interaction a bit. Also, the water from the water fountains is a little on the warm side and not very tasty but I can live with that. Other than that this gym is great for people who want a serious workout and people who just wanna go walk on a treadmill for an hour or two. 😀😀

Home away from home

Standard gym with adequately-maintained equipment and facilities.I would have given the location a higher rating, but the male receptionist with braces is very standoffish and rude, especially if he has to sign you in during “social time” with other employees (which seems to constitute the majority of his shift). An attitude adjustment would do him good.

The gym is clean and had lot of machines but I do miss the ab and body weight area that is now the boxing gym. Other than that the building leaks alot probably due to the age of the roof and ac.

It was good I had not been back in a while

Overall I enjoy coming to this gym (other than the fact that it is very crowded between 5pm - 9pm) but thats common sense considering members are out of work. The womens area is great and you can get your workout comfortably. Only downfall is that there are about 3 elliptical machines (where you can change the level to extend your leg/knee higher for a better workout) that have not been fixed for the past 3 months if not more. Nice locker room, restroom, showers and large sink/mirror area.

I’ve canceled my membership since October (2019) and I went again in November because they charge me again. Well apparently the girl didn’t file it so they keep charging me. I’ve done it twice already and I just got another charge THIS month!! This is ridiculous!!

Could improve on customer service. I had to wait about 4 hours to speak to a supervisor. I was not informed properly about the contract and felt lied to. Facilities are great but management doesnt help much. When I spoke to management about my contract the response was you knew what you were getting into .....

Very affordable membership with great benefits and often great promotions. Only downside is it gets very packed most of the time and waiting around for a machine ruins your focus. It also takes long for freedom to fix broken machines.

The place is clean and all but they have the worst customer service. I sat for over 45 mins waiting to get help. Some guy told me to sit and wait, but mind you there’s plenty of employees that could of helped me just to cancel my membership.

By far the worst customer service experience. I’m just glad my contract just expired and I’m not obligated to continue with any payments and can leave somewhere else. Hopefully they don’t come up with any surprises. Some of the staff members that greet you at the front are very rude and seem they really don’t want to be working there. Please do not bother interrupting them while they are socializing among themselves and ignoring you. I’ve had my gym equipment stolen from me while working out and caught the members involved and told management about it and did nothing about it because they did not want to make it a big deal. Also, when confirming my final payment and signing the cancellation waiver at the gym, I stopped by the locker room to pick up my gear knowing I won’t be coming back and noticed the lock on my locker was gone along with my gear. Not sure if this was management due to the locker being idle for a while but it’s not like they are short lockers. Good thing none of my gear was high dollar so they can go ahead and keep it if they were involved. Don’t have any intentions on comin back. I would not recommend this true fit location.Surely enough surprises did kick in. I got an email notification about a payment the gym is trying to debit a month after I was guaranteed by after signing the cancellation waiver that no more charges would be debited from my account. I went to the gym to talk to the staff about it and told them what is it they are trying to charge me if nothing else is pending and there response was their manager is not here and that they don’t handle billing issues over the weekends. Seriously this is the most incompetent staff on a business I have ever dealt with. Hiring young kids that don’t know anything and just tell you what you want to hear until things like this come up. Management can contact me directly and explain what is it they are trying to charge me. Not planing on heading back to the gym and wasting my time with negligent staff members.

The staff and service they have now is horrible, they used to have way better staff and vibes about 2 years ago specially around the night to after midnight hours. The whole new system they got being tru fit is certainly not an improvement.

I just signed less than 2 weeks, they have poor customer service and lack of communications between the employees. I got Platinum membership, on my first day, no one gave me a tour to know the gym, I have never been there before, till now I was supposed to get a free session with one of the trainers, on the first appointment he didn’t showed up, I tried to reschedule it and still haven’t been able, I had spoke with different employees, left messages and no call back to set the appointment.I would not recommend this place, Poor Customer Service, no proffesionalism. 👎🏻

Pros: Hard to beat a good deal of $10 -$20 per month offer! Includes your standard free weights, machines, spinning classes, group exercise room, showers, and womens only area, & child care.Cons: The staff needs critical attention to customer service. No Greeting, no smiles, no eye contact. Water coolers at gym are not working; Water is warm and the water is not filtered.

Terrible service, poor attitudes, a lot of equipment not working, air is heavy and humid feels like your breathing everyone’s breath. The worst part was I caught them taunting and laughing at my 2 year old in the child care area. It was his first time there and he was scared. It didn’t help that they were not welcoming to him. The employees are just there to collect a paycheck. No sense of pride in their work. I immediately went across the street to Crunch and got excellent service and am still very happy with the membership. Paid for a full year in full, you missed the mark trufit!

Thinking of cancelling my membership. The front desk staff in the afternoons are very grumpy, and are always on their phones. Not friendly at all. Asked to speak to the manager about a concern, the guy was just plain rude. He did not have a clue about anything. Very poor professionalism. The gym is always full, especially afternoons-night. Most of the machines are always out of order and very dusty.

Good machines and great customer service, another free weight rack and another deadlift station should be added as well as kettlebells. Other than that its a great gym to attend!

Decent gym, Ive been coming here since 2010 when it was freedom fitness. The same machines have always been broken ever since. Everyone puts the weights where they dont belong and nobody really cares about anything lol. (The only employees who do care are probably the ones who clean cus the locker rooms and gym floors are always moped) still a good gym though.

Not great equipment and not well maintained. It is the best gym in Brownsville but I would make the drive to the new Tru-fit in Harlingen. Very good value and they accept Silver Sneakers.

Has leaks in the ceiling that surround some of the equipment

Horrible communication. Ive been trying to cancel for two months because I moved out of state. At first I was told that I can use the facilities in the place I moved to. Turns out I cant and I was charged $141 for two accounts that I wasnt even able to use! I finally got an email back 2 days before I was getting charged again about cancellation. Ive also been calling for the last two months and no one has called me back. Your managment needs to get on the ball!

Old/inadequate equipment, bad service, and overall dirty place be careful or youll get mono!!Dont go spend your money some place else

I like true fit the only thing is that I hate going in the morning because I drop off my kids and they are very welcoming and nice staff in the daycare area but in the afternoons I hate it ! From Monday -Friday in the afternoons the daycare staff in horriable! That why i stoped going in the afternoons they laugh at the kids and are not welcoming at all!! If they keep them true fit is going to start loosing people honestly. The morning staff in the daycare mon-Friday super recommend excellent service and nice. This is tru fit in Brownsville at boca chica.

This gym is so bad every time I go I leave in worse shape. Theres one deadlift platform and one squat rack that are usually taken for 3 hours by a guy doing an exercise that he invented and thinks is sick but serves absolutely no purpose besides making everyone else in the gym mad. Decent gym if your goal is to look mediocre at the beach. Make the drive to Harlingen, that Trufit is dope.

I gave this gym a 5 star rating before, but things are, unfortunately, different nowadays. Perhaps this gym is great for the newcomers, but once you observe what goes on, things are quite different. Hence, my reason for this review. As a member, I was always told by staff members to follow rules, and that, I always do. However, I do see that friends or acquaintances of the people at the front desk or manager (usually see them talking at front desk), are free to carry their gym bags around gym, leave dumbbells and plates unracked, leave sweaty benches, or have their group of buddies hoarding a bench(es) or set of equipment while having a social for 30 minutes or so. So, I do hope that rules are actually applied EQUALLY to all members. I was originally going to give this gym a 1 star, but managed to get 2 since the staff has always treated me nicely and the janitors do try to keep up with the amount of people that dirty the facility. My expectation of this gym is that it reflects upon its current flaws in order to attract new and seasoned gym goers alike.

I really enjoyed this facility and staff is very attentive and cleanliness is always on point. Im just curious now that its name changed if theres been any changes, since I no longer attend.

Too packed in the evenings but I love the 24 hour times. Allows me to go at midnight and its empty then.

All these reviews say poor customer service. Remember people, its Brownsville most people have no customer service here. Brownsville people dont care about anything. But cool gym.

Management is completely unorganized! They honestly need to learn how to interact with customers!! No wonder many people are leaving to other gyms !I am so glad that my contract is over. Another worst fact is that managers are never around . Oh and the billing office people are extremely rude as well !No wonder they have plenty of bad reviews .

Clean not too crowded

Worst gym ever! Equipment might be good but service is awful! I been trying to cancel my membership because i moved to a city where theres no gym. since july 2018 and they keep charging me and even when i gave them all paperwork needed to cancel, its December 2018 and i still keep being charged and not able to cancel my membership with them... if you ever sign up for this gym DO NOT go for membership with a contract!!! You will regret it down the road, no matter what they tell you, they will make a nightmare to cancel if you move out to a place where there’s no trufit at all

Tru-Fit has facilities all over the valley which is very convenient for someone that travels back-and-forth on a day-to-day basis have a lot of options friendly and fun atmosphere

I am coming from a freedom fitness in McAllen that was always well kept, so going from McAllen to Brownsville I am not very satisfied. Even after being bought out by tru fit you would think it would have stepped up. The woman’s area is always dirty and none of the weights are ever in it’s place, whether they are all scattered around the area or just not in the woman’s area in general. This makes it very complicated to complete my workout. The staff are alright; Half are good, half are just there to earn their minimum wage and that is all. Being the only tru fit in the Brownsville area, I don’t really have a choice of which to attend. I really do miss my freedom fitness on 23rd though.

I love my gym. Ive been going since it first opened and Ive already lost 104lbs. I love the Zumba class and Working out in the Womans Center. Great atmosphere

This company is by far the worst in dealing with customer service.Managers are only here to take money from you.Absolutely horrible.Please dont go to this lousy gym.Even after a cancelled my membership 2 months ago they want to keep charging.Please dont give these people business.Update lori from the weslaco office admitted to us that they sold our information to a collection agency for 180.00. Even after we produced paper work on canceling services.Typical valley trash company.

The Tru fit clubs that I used to go to in Edinburg and Mcallen have way more group exercise classes than the brownsville location. This one in Brownsville also has polite and attentive staff, I do appreciate that, but I am very dissapointed because the only choice of group exercise is Zumba. I used to be so happy with my memberships, we pay for 4 premium memberships, my self, my two sisters and my mother’s and we used to do cycling, yoga and zumba together before our workouts. There is only ONE Tru- fit club in Brownsville, they should at least make it full of options and incorporate plenty of workout classes at different times of the day. That was the reason I picked Tru-fit but now we only have an option for zumba, Zumba or zumba! With that said I do have to admit that it is a clean and friendly atmosphere. I also really enjoy the Zumba instructors in the Brownsville location, they are great and full of energy. Thanks, keep up the good work, but please consider giving us more group workout choices😩.

The equipment sucks. I canceled my membership and they still charged me like 4 months of service which I didnt use. Supposedly they have massage chairs for your service but they were always out of order, the treadmills most of the TV screens didnt work. So much for platinum package wasnt even worth what i was paying. I rather go back to golds gym atleast they had better equipment, friendlier staff, and better services for the same or less price. Never again no matter how many times you change the name. If it was up to me i would put zero stars.

Its a cheap fitness center, full of treadmills and other stuff. If you are into Strength and conditioning I wouldnt come here. Dumbells only go up to 75, no squat/power racks, you can not use chalk, have to be very quiet when lifting heavy. If you are a serious lifter dont come here, if you are looking to run indoors go ahead.
