Harold is a wizard with VWs-- quickly fixed an engine issue Id had for a long time.
Good place and people to do service on my vw atlas. So far have been very happy with everything they did, from sourcing the exact synthetic oil recommended by vw to accommodating my schedule in booking an inspection.
I’ve been getting my 2010 Honda CR-V serviced here for a few years now and the experiences have been nothing short of exceptional. I’m rest assured knowing I’m not being scammed and that I’m having quality work done on my car. A big thank you to Harold for always having the time to provide me with excellent customer service. I highly recommend Gene’s.
My mother started having her 68 Beetle convertible serviced at Gene’s in 1974. She never took that car anywhere else for service because she knew she could absolutely trust Gene and he would never steer her wrong, and he was honest with her when he told her when it was time part ways with that car that she loved.I had several VWs and Hondas maintained by Harold and Rick, Gene’s sons, (and their crew) from the mid-80s through 2013. I continued taking my cars there even after moving quite a distance away. They were always incredibly honest and trustworthy. Dozens of visits and always knew they were doing what was needed and nothing more. They always give you the straight scoop, not what you want to hear or what will benefit them. Rates are the best around. Can’t ask for more.
My out of warranty CRV is like new again. Great service.
One of best at Volkswagen!
I brought my car in two years ago for an inspection. I was told that I needed 4 break pads and 2 rotors. They put them on my car and a year later, after a new inspection at a different shop, I was told that the rear brakes and roters were completely shot and in bad shape. I was also told that the breaks and rotors were cheap parts. I then had another mechanic check and they said the same thing. I checked my bill for the original price of the breaks and rotors and low and behold, they were priced very cheap meaning the parts were garbage. So I called to complain and a woman told me that “we would never put cheap parts on a car” and “we did not do that to you car”. I told the woman that I had the bill in front of me and that I knew the parts were cheap as I had the proof. She then continued to tell me that i was “barking up the wrong tree” when I continued to get upset. Fast forward the next year, this year and i just had my car inspected again. Guess what. Front breaks are shot and i was told that they are cheap parts. So much for a family business as they claim. Tired of auto shops using cheap parts on cars to make more profit. It’s disgusting. Not to mention the way the nasty woman spoke to me on the phone. I’m the customer. If I’m upset, I might have a right to be and I did. What a shameful low class business. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It’s a real shame that my father has been giving this place lots of business for years. They clearly don’t deserve my money or his.
I have NEVER dealt with a car service that is even close to Genes. They are fantastic. Their high level of knowledge and expertise is matched only by their honesty. They only service VWs and Hondas. I had a VW and a Sabaru. Their servicing of my VW was so impressive that when my Sabaru died, I chose a good used Honda simply because Genes could service it. I know others who use Genes and we all love them. They are in a class by themselves.
Genes car repair top notch, prices reasonable and people and owner very nice to do business with.Satisfied with service..I highly recommend the repair center
I have an 77 VW Camper. They helped me with my clutch issue. Price was fair and the guys were great. A random person recommended Genes to me and I am pleased they did. This is a family owned business - on their 3rd generation.
The salesman sells the first car, but it’s the service department that sells the second, third, fourth and so on. My wife and I only drive Volkswagen/Audi and Honda/Acura vehicles because of the stellar service we receive at Gene’s. It’s fantastic peace of mind knowing that our vehicles are in great hands, and we appreciate the value in their service. We bring our vehicles in for routine maintenance and/or repair, we are greeted with a smile, and we leave knowing that our vehicles are fixed right the first time, and for a competitive price. Gene’s Foreign Car Service is truly a hidden gem in a world full of car repair facilities, and we wouldn’t go anywhere else! Thank you guys for always being there for us, and for keeping our vehicles in great shape!
Nobody better than these guys. Have taken my cars here for years, even when I moved an hour away. Honest and fair, and they do great work!
Best place for Honda or VW service. Family owned with a great attention to service and a very friendly attitude.Highly recommend after 20 years of being a very satisfied customer.
Genes was able to get my car in on a timely basis. The day of service, they made a diagnostic, called me with their findings. They provided a clear explanation of what service was needed and an estimate of the costs and when the car would be done. It was great having a service center that communicated and didnt have me wondering if I was making good decisions or not. This was our first time, but not our last.
Family owned shop. Excellent service. They know their customers by name (and their cars too). They explain repair options, and take time to track down tricky issues.
Highly recommended! Great customer service, very knowledgeable and trustworthy! Had a sticky clutch. Dealer was asking for $3,000 to change the whole clutch. A new master cylinder fixed the problem. They will be maintaining my GTI from now on.
Definitely the best around at what they do, great prices, fantastic staff, and they never ever disappoint!! Extremely truthful and knowledgeable, I seriously wouldnt take my Vw Buss anywhere else on the planet. Genes rocks!!!
Ever go to a car mechanic who told you not to pay money so you could get your moneys worth from a part of your car? Ive never had that happen until I came to Genes. Super nice people, they told me what needed to be fixed but just as important, told me what was good and didnt need to be fixed. The biggest issue with a mechanic for me has always been not knowing if Im paying twice or paying a fair price. As long as Genes keeps quoting me a fair price, theyve earned my business and Ill be bringing my other car here as well. And I guess Ill have to buy another Honda or VW whenever I next get a car.
Great service. Trustworthy. Great work.
I and my family have brought our VWs and Hondas here since the Eighties, since we were driving old school Beetles. I wont move away from this area mainly because I never want to find another mechanic. They let you know when used parts are available and ask you first if its your preference. They try to save you money if something isnt necessary, or isnt necessary right away. They call and check with you before doing larger repairs and give you heads up when a bigger repair is coming down the road so youre prepared for it.I go there for regular oil changes and tire rotations. I have never had an unnecessary repair suggested. Genes isnt going to invent repairs or try to convince you you need 4 new premium tires etc. when you bring it in for a flat tire or oil change. If my car breaks down, its getting towed to Genes.
I had a really great experience here. My car broke down while on the NE Extension and I was able to limp it to this shop which was a mile off the turnpike. The staff was friendly and accommodating, took care of what I needed for a reasonable price, and got me on my way. If I were local I would use these folks as my regular mechanic in a heartbeat.
We have worked with Genes since we moved to the area (14 years now), and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE working with them. If we didnt already have a lot of reasons to like them, a recent car accident was handled quickly and expertly, with Genes team accepting the car from a tow company, assessing the damage, dealing with the insurance agency (and successfully arguing for manufacturer parts, not after-market), ordering the parts and installing the parts -- all in less than 1 business week. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.
VW and Honda experts. Much less expensive than dealerships, great customer service and great mechanical service. Worked on my mothers cars in the 80s and 90s and my cars for the last 13 years.
Work done right what else can I say very happy
We have been going to them for @ 20 years now. No one else can touch our cars. you can count on the work being done and they dont try to get you for extra unneeded work!
In a word, they are fantastic. I cant say enough about Jan and the boys. I have been with them for 27 years. No one else will work on my cars. EVER. Not even an oil change. For 27 years I have been buying VW and Hondas only. Because they are THAT good. I feel extremely lucky to have found them back then, and grateful for their years of helpful service and guidance.Trust is a precious commodity in this world, and I trust them. 100%.
These guys are Great. They have been taking care of my VW for over a decade and they always go above and beyond.Recently i had to drop the car off last minute with a Check Engine light and Jan and the team took care of it.They could have thrown on a lot of new parts at the problem but Rick took the time and effort to carefully inspect the issues with the engine and got it running better than ever with only a few hoses and seals - saving me a lot of money in new & unnecessary items. This attention to detail and extra effort is what makes this shop the only place i would take my VW
My husband and I have had our Hondas serviced by Genes for over 20+ years now. They are superior in everyway from Jan at the front to Rick and Harold and them team in the back. We refuse to buy anything other than a Honda or VW because we never want to leave Genes. It is truly a family business with honesty and wisdom leading the way to great service!
Very honest, love this place!
These guys are THE BEST, PERIOD.They have been servicing my VW Jetta 1.8t for 15 yearsI would never go anywhere else.Fair, communicative, and very professional - you will not be disappointed.
This place is fantastic! They know their stuff and they are easy to work with, very understanding, and very kind!
Trustworthy. Next car Im buying will have to be a Honda or VW so I can keep going there to work on my car.
We have serviced our Audi Q7 at Genes several times. On EVERY occasion, we have been treated in a extremely rude and disrespectful manner by their personnel, especially the lady behind the desk. We have asked for an estimate and once the work began, we were told the repair would be over $200 more than estimated. When we challenged the estimate, we were told we could go to the Audi dealer where they would charge us an arm and a leg. Genes feels that they can treat folks in a rude and condescending manner because there prices are cheaper than the dealer. Wrong! We will not take our vehicle there again at any price or level of service.
Top tier foreign car service near the Main Line. Friendly and helpful staff with extensive foreign car knowledge. Highly recommend for Audi and Volkswagen.
Does need appointments to get my car fixed there?
Honest friendly smart family run business. FYI, only services Honda Acura VW Audi.
As a family, we only buy VW or Honda because of the service we receive at Genes. Since 1998 when we bought our first VW, we have been extremely happy with Genes courtesy, quality, price and service...I would give Genes 10 Stars if possible!
Apathy towards new customers - Genes initial diagnosis for my intermittent no-start issue was the fuel pump. Although against my gut feeling, i let them to do the fix at considerable expense ($650 - $220 for the pump, $50 for a filter, the rest is labor). 2 days later, the problem re-occurred and I had to tow it back to the shop at my expense ($50 - first time was free thanks to AAA). The shop determined that it was the crankshaft sensor ($72), a possibility that i had informed them of during my first visit. They refused to negotiate any of the additional work cost and completely shirked off any responsibility. Aside from charging a second diagnostic fee and $140 for the 20 minute install, I am also not convinced that the fuel pump needed a replacement. If i find evidence for this, I will consider a lawsuit. Total for the two visits including a tow approx $950. They have a lot of repeat customers so either they treat their older customers differently or they dont need any new business..
Great place
Great mechanics and service, fair prices!
Great customer service and very knowledgeable and trustworthy staff
They know their Volkswagens. Theyre not cheap, but compared to the dealer theyre a bargain.
Great service. Great folks.
Weve been customers for years. That should say it all.
