We were from out of town and had a major oil leak. They got us in and out in the same day and the charges were extremely reasonable. Would recommend this shop to everyone.

Weve been going here for years for oil changes and repairs. The owner goes above and beyond to guarantee the work and provide the best possible service. They are very flexible and accommodating when dropping off or picking up vehicles and will give recommendations about where to go for services they dont offer. Everything is explained clearly, and they never try to charge you for things you dont need or make you feel inferior or incompetent. This is by far the best auto shop Ive ever used.

We were passing thru town on vacation. Our AC wasn’t functioning well and it was a hot week in July. Kevin got us into the schedule when no one else’s in town could. Fixed it right away and we continued on. Great service!

Amazing service! They provided a quality oil change on my Diesel and thoroughly reviewed everything that was done and found during the inspection. They charged a very reasonable fee for labor. I was truly amazed at the service and communicating provided. All my interactions with the staff were top notch. I am very selective with who works on my truck. Kevin and his crew have helped me with my vehicle over the past three years through countless repairs. I cannot recommend this business enough for any service or repairs! I was traveling for work and on my way back home on a Saturday when something happened on the interstate north of Brookings. I pulled into Brookings and was unable to find a service station open until I arrive at ASC. They were also closed however someone was there and agreed to take a look at it for me. Problem fixed in no time and all! I was so grateful for them to work outside regular hours and to do so with such professionalism. If Im ever in the Brookings area again and need service, this would be my spot and I will be telling everyone I know it the area to go here! A-plus customer service!

I work on the road and it’s hard to find a place that can get a company truck in right away and out the next day for work. They did a fantastic job, the truck was in and out with in a day and off to work the next day. 10/10 recommend this place and would come back again.

Where shall I begin. First off I’d like to inform everyone that they’ll take your vehicle home overnight while also running errands in it to offer you a “free check” to make sure it’s fixed. I don’t know if it’s just me but using 10+ gallons of fuel and covering a vehicle in mud isn’t “free”.The owner will come back and say that it’s a common thing to do, but I called every other automotive shop in Brookings and no other shop said that they will do that....Second, they’ll put the cheapest parts in to “save you some money”. The list goes on and on and on.... honestly if any parents see this and wonder if they should have their college student take their vehicle to this guy... save your time and money and go to any other shop in brookings.

Ive taken my car here many times, and theyre only people that will touch my vehicle. Expect quality work and done in a timely manner. Theyre always up front about everything, no surprises later, and will go so far out of their way to accommodate your needs. Ive never had more helpful or friendly service than at Automotive Service Center. Anytime someone I know mentions car repair I tell them to go to ASC. Theyll treat you right.

My water pump went out on my way through Brookings and the dealer could not look at it for 3 days but they referred me to Kevin. Kevin thought he could possibly look at it that afternoon and maybe fix it the next day. Kevin moved some things around in the shop to get my truck in and look over. He called me at 7:00 that evening and had it all done. He went above and beyond to help me get on the road the next day. I would highly recommend them for anyone in need of repair or maintenance.

Amazing! The staff was phenomenal. Any kind words written might not do them justice. The owner made sure I was well educated on my vehicle before I left the parking lot and explained what was done. Extremely respectful and friendly. They did such a thorough job they noticed I had license plate bulbs out. Talk about attention to detail!

Such great service and super nice people!! I brought my car in to have my antifreeze checked and it needed to be flushed and drained and they fit me into their busy schedule that same day just because of upcoming weather. The manager seemed caring about keeping me safe and my vehicle up to its needs. They also gave me a ride to my place and picked me up, which I live across town and it was kinda bad weather that day. And then my car was running so it was warm once I got there! They do a great job with customer service and the manager gives you a printed off receipt showing you what they all did and what may be needed in the future which I really appreciate because I know nothing about cars. I definitely would recommend and will continue to utilize them for my car service needs!! Can’t thank them enough!

Great service all around. They were able to get my car in pretty much right away. After it was serviced, Kevin explained everything that was listed on the invoice--what they fixed, what they suggest I fix in the future, and why. He was very honest. I dont feel like I was talked into anything because even if he recommended a repair, he told me whether it was something I needed to worry about now or not.

I had an oil change done a few weeks ago and some minor repairs done this week. Im new to the area so have been doing research to find an honest, awesome mechanic shop in the Brookings, SD area. Glad to have found that with Automotive Service Center. The work done is top-notch, rates are very reasonable, the work was done timely and their customer service is the best. My experiences here have been nothing but good. Not only do they work quickly - they dont try to nickel and dime their customers. The mechanics know what theyre doing, and on top of all of it, Kevin goes out of his way to help you understand whats going on with your vehicle. He even ran out to the shop and grabbed an example part to show me what was happening with my car - I cant tell you how great that was. Go to these guys - you wont regret it.

Parents with students at SDSU...great place to send your kids vehicle when youre far away and cant help. My daughters car wasnt running and they came through big time and put her back on the road fast to get home for spring break. Had to replace a transmission that had cracked all the way around the housing. I typically do all my own repairs but this was a larger task then I was capable in my garage (300lb diesel transmission / 7800lb truck). Was a major cost but looking at the price break down I dont think they could have been more fair. The quality of the work is wonderful and they also diagnosed another issue that I needed to be looking out for as he knew I preferred to do it myself. I hope I never need there service again but Im glad to know theyre there if I do. Thanks again Kevin!

Kevin went out of his way to help me when my car battery was dead right before trying to leave Brookings and return to my hometown. Since I couldn’t bring my car to his shop, he gave me the tools I needed to replace my battery and gave expert advice on where to replace it so I could get on the road and enjoy Christmas with my family. Brought in my 97 Tacoma to see if an oil leak could be fixed. Instead of blowing me off and saying he couldnt help, Kevin walked me through the details of the problem and gave me his professional opinion why it wouldnt be worth it to fix the leak, which is actually more manageable than I thought. The visit gave me peace of mind more than anything. I recommend ASC to everyone with car problems.

Kevin was helpful, communicated thoroughly, and went above and beyond my expectations. Instead of doing the bare minimum, he and his staff diagnosed the problems I was having and did extra work to ensure I did not have those problems again. The extra parts and labor were deducted so that the price was still what we had originally agreed upon. This was by far the best experience I have had with a mechanic!

I had a great experience here. They were very patient, as I was in a pretty unique situation with the timing of my payment. They went above and beyond just fixing my car ( ex: changed my very stubborn license plate without having to ask). I was very unsure of where to take my car in to get it looked at because I was worried I would be overcharged and talked down to since I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars. I was told that it would probably not get looked at until the following day, but I then got a call the same day saying it was done. I was blown away by the customer service and quality of work and so was my grandpa. I told him about my experience at ASC and he was so impressed (which does not happen easily when it comes to people other than him looking at my car), and he was so happy I found somewhere that did not take advantage of my lack of knowledge. Their customer service was also great! The staff was super friendly and they even offered me a ride back to campus while they worked on the car.

Phenomenal customer service. I asked for a battery check and they provided it free of charge with a complementary cleaning of the oxidation around the wiring of my battery. 10/10 would recommend.

I have a not so reliable small SUV, and have had to bring it to ASC a couple times now. Every time I call in I get an appointment set up right then, they are always friendly and helpful, and go beyond what an average service center does. We were in Brookings overnight and our car broke down the morning we were heading home. It needed a new alternator and ASC got our car right in, gave my husband a ride to our hotel, cleaned our windshield and got us back on the road in a couple of hours. Kevin and the folks at ASC have always treated me extremely well. Once, they discovered the fix was really simple and so they charged me nothing, even though they spent a lot of time looking for the problem. Another time they gave me a large discount because it took a couple extra days to finish. And just recently Kevin took $400 off my bill, simply because there were some unexpected expenses he hadnt factored into the original estimate he gave me on the phone. They work fast and do a really good job. Their customer service is outstanding and I recommend them to anyone who asks where to go and get work done on their car.

Last week the heat exhaust shield was knocked loose and hanging from the bottom of my Honda CRV, which was causing a loud rattling noise. I took it into ASC and asked them to take a look at it for me; they not only fixed the problem but they also aired all my tires up for me. The service was incredible and they didnt try to charge me extra like I worry some auto shops do since Im a female college student. I will definitely be going to ASC for any car problems in the future.

I am from out of town and was sent to ASC because it was highly recommended. After going there, I can see why. I went to get an oil change and they checked over my entire car and let me know of things that were wearing down and needed to be replaced in the future. Super great guys, great management, I wish they were in my hometown so I could always take my car to them.

The guys that work here know their job! They get the job done in the fastest and most efficient way and I really appreciate the time and effort they put in examining my car and fixing the problem. I have already visited them twice with my driver side window problem and with my axleshaft change and they have done a great job. It is also important that they patiently explain all that needs to be done is details so that you know what you are paying for.

Im a repeat customer and have never had any problems with them. I really like their service and how friendly they are. My favorite part is that they dont try to find things wrong with your car that you dont need fixed. They dont push you in to anything.

My power steering went out when I was trying to leave the Friday of Spring break. ASC got me in right away and had all the parts!!!!!!! They helped my diagnose a faulty part I just put in for my brake system. There was a miscommunication but they worked with me through it an made things right. Very easy to work with. Service manager is very good to work with.

Guy is s CROOK! I would have given zero stars if it would have let me! My sons ( a college student at SDSU)cars steering goes out and he is all nice until we catch him trying to screw us on how much he was going to charge us to fix it! When we asked for a parts list so that we could get the parts ourselves to trim down the $2500.00 estimate then it was a different story! After a little more research I found that he was 3 times higher than what it can be done back here in town for! When we tell him that we are going to get a car trailer and have it done back home, he decides that we owe him $115.00 for diagnosing the problem, when we already knew the fn steering was out!!!!! Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place! ZERO customer service!!!!! I read these other reviews before taking it to him, he must have paid them off to give them because service is not his forte!

I took my car in because it was running through gas faster then usual and had a distinct smell of gas coming from the engine. They checked it out and figured out the problem and even checked and found out that it had a dealer recall on the problem, so they sent me to the dealer here in town to fix it for free! Great service, Highly recommended.

Had 500 dollars worth of work done and my car made it 50 miles before it wouldnt stop accelerating. I was told it was my fault because I rushed them to fix it, they had it 5 days. The part they told me was the probelm MAY not have been the problem but they only put it in because I ordered it for them, in addition to charging me MORE hourly for using my 50$ part instead of their $800 quoted part. And he felt it was safe to drive even though it was idling at 1200 rpm... Well maybe 1500 rpm... his words. Go somewhere else they will rip you off.

Unfortunately, I had some car trouble and needed to choose an auto repair shop in town. After reading some reviews I found a place that seemed like a good choice. After my experience at Automotive Service Center, the reviews don’t live up to what these guys do. They gave me great insight when choosing how to move forward with my repairs, and made sure I knew all my options. Realizing I’m a student at SDSU, they went above and beyond to accommodate me. While my car was being fixed, they even gave me rides to and from campus. I cant thank these guys enough for everything they’ve done, and I would recommend them to anyone I know.

Just got the heater in my oldsmobile fixed here, seems to be working very well so far! The guys at ASC were very helpful, my car was fixed very quickly, they explained what went wrong, and gave me a discount too! I wish I could leave a 4.5, itd be more accurate, and Id be giving 5 stars if not for the fact that they left some of the screws out of the bottom of my dashboard. I think I found all of them, and its not a huge deal, I just would have felt better if it was back together, getting back into my car and seeing exposed cables where there were none before was a little unnerving

Moved to Brookings 7 months ago. I was told this was the best place in town for car service and that statement has been nothing but true. Ive come to them a few times with car problems and theyve helped me every bit of the way. Completely honest work and explain to me everything they do. Only place I will go to now. Staff is amazing. I had a really good experience with ASC this week. Had some issues with my car starting and swung by ASC to have them take a look at it. I dont know a lot about cars so Im always intimidated when I take my car in, but Kevin was very nice. He explained possible causes of the issue and I felt reassured after they checked it out that day. He even gave me a ride to work so I didnt have to sit at the shop all day! Great, fast service -- Id definitely recommend ASC and Ill be taking my car there again in the future!

I brought my car in after being told I had a transmission problem by another shop. Kevin and his workers at ASC rediagnosed the problem and it turned out my transmission was fine but it was a series of other problems. They worked on my car the next day, the minimal wait time was a pleasant surprise. They fixed the main problem and the subsequent issues around it. My car drives like it’s brand new again, but it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg like many places around town.I highly recommend ASC and I won’t be going anywhere else the next time I need any work done.

My daughter is in college a SDSU. She had car trouble. ASC got her car in that day and also finished the repair the same day. They went above and beyond to be courteous and even stayed late for her to pick it up that night after her class. They spoke with my husband and explained everything. He is a motor head and usually does all of his own repairs and was impressed with the man he spoke with. My daughter called home after picking it up because she was so got by how nice and thorough they the service was. I would definitely return if we have car trouble again!!

I called in advance to inquire about the price of an oil change. They quoted me $50, so I scheduled an appointment. When I took the car in I waited inside since it wouldnt take long. An hour later they said that the car was ready and I went to pay the bill, only it was for $127 instead of $50. I asked for the cost breakdown and they said that they had topped off a couple fluids and replaced a couple of small parts. Very disappointed that they failed to inform me of the other issues and the price difference while I was physically in the building the entire time.On a good note, they did call to get the specific brand of oil that I prefer, which I was very impressed with.Overall, I will probably not be taking any vehicles back to them since price is important when working with a tight budget.

The best service we have ever received on our autos! We are in the military and were in the process of moving. The military only gives a certain amount of days to transit between stations and every day matters. Our vehicle that was pulling our moving trailer decided to break down by Brookings. After dealing with ASC me and my wife were so happy that the breakdown occured where it did on our trip from ND to IL. ASC told us where to go in town to get great pizza (Georges’s) and i think they would have driven us there and dropped us off if we didn’t have our other vehicle with us. Even though our truck was a pain due to a leveling kit that I had put on, they worked through it and made the repair happen. I was highly doubtful that we would be able to continue our travels that day, but ASC did everything possible to accomodate us and fix our truck. They simply accomplished what I thought would be impossible to do. I Was fully expecting to have to spend a few nights of our leave while our vehicle was being fixed, but that wasn’t the case. They kept us in the loop at every point and let us know all of our options and gave recommendations about what to do down the road to our truck to keep it in tip-top shape. Long story short, if you’re vehicle is broke, take it here. Thanks again guys for your hard work and professionalism!!!! I am continuously having random issues with my vehicle. Due to the multitude of miles my car has, these problems are expected. I always bring my car to ASC. Their automotive service is wonderful as well as their customer service! Kevin and his guys know what they are doing! They do not overprice their service and they always have my car finished in a timely manner. I recommend ASC to everyone.

On our trip back home we found ourselves stranded at the side of the highway with a dead alternator. We ended up going to ASC and they got us right in. Within 3 hours of calling the tow service we were back on the road.The team at ASC were competent and helped us get back on the road.

$120 for coolant and a key I did not ask for. Did not keep me updated, I had to keep calling. Kept trying to upsell instead of fixing the problem. Store sign says 3.5% discount for cash but I did not receive when I paid cash. Felt like he thought I was stupid.

Very honest and fair pricing! I had to get a new headgasket for my truck and contacted multiple shops - which were all highly unknowledgable or high priced to do the work. GP Auto helped me get it fixed and back on the road - they even cleared the whole day to fix it due to urgency! I definitely will return! They also did extra work and didnt charge for the parts because they were outside of the initial cost assessment.Thanks ASC Auto!

Last fall I experienced my first car issue since moving to Brookings. I called several repair shops, and ASC was the first to get my car in, treat me with respect, and give quality service. I dont know as much about cars as I would like to, so I make sure I can trust who I leave my car with. You will get to know Kevin, the owner, on a first-name basis, and his employees are just as friendly. They are patient with my questions and take the time to explain whats on my bill and why. Im never talked down to. Prices are fantastic. Sadly Ive had other car issues since (not at all due to ASC), but happily, I now have ASC to count on and theyve been there each time.

The staff at ASC is absolutely wonderful! Im a college student, away from home and I dont know anything about cars so I was nervous to have repairs done here in Brookings but ASC was really quick, knew exactly what needed to be fixed and were incredibly affordable! I would highly recommend them!

Best mechanic shop in town!..I highly recommend ASC because of Kevin, Robbie and the rest of the crew and the work they do to get your vehicle up and running in timely matter. Ive been coming to ASC for repairs and rountine maintenance on our cars for the past 5 years and Ive never had a bad experience with Kevin. He always worked with me on quotes and always been good at letting me know of problems in advance like where the tread level is on our tires or how the brake pads are.
