They can sharpen while you wait. Brought in 4 kitchen knives, including one with a missing tip, which she fixed at no additional cost at all. She said she never charges to fix that! Great vibe to the place, somewhat reminds me of a nice tattoo shop or a piercing lounge... Comfortable sofa where you can observe the work, neat art on display, friendly staff. Prices are very affordable, this is where I will bring anything that needs sharpening from here on out. Bring in your stuff and tell your friends! Because whats the most dangerous tool in the kitchen? Thats right, a dull knife.

For my first time ever at Moleta, I brought in my lawn mower blade that I had never had sharpened before. I used the 24-hour drop box, and then came in later that day. Alena was just about to start my blade, so I got to watch her in action. It was awesome! Seeing her do the sharpening in person really impressed me. It was all done freehand, and her attention to every detail was clearly seen. As we talked, it was apparent how much she loves her craft, and any doubt I may have had about sharpening vs. buying a new blade quickly evaporated. Super job... I will be back!

We have a beautiful set of Shun knives that we sent to the manufacturer to be sharpened and they came back worse than when we shipped them! I brought them to Moleta and they are now just as sharp as when we bought them! Plus we got out camping utility knife nice and sharp! Ill be buying family gift certificates for Christmas :)

They did it again!! I took an antique butcher knife to be sharpened at Moleta on this a well used knife.They had a booth at Pewaukee farmers market . The young woman who worked the equipment was a pro. I could have shaved with that blade when she was done. Very reasonable charge for an awesome sharpen.They are truly artisans.

Dropped off 3 large pruners, 1 hand pruners, 1 hedge shear, and an axe. Dropped off on a Saturday morning in the drop box which was large enough for the ax. Alena texted theyd be ready by 5 the same day! Was not expecting to have them ready so quick on a weekend. Everything came back shaper than when we bought the tools. She also adjusted some of the pruners so the clearances were perfect again. Highly recommend Moleta for any sharpening needs! 🔪🗡

Alena and her crew do exceptional work. They are true artists of their craft. I took two sets of serrated steak knives in to have sharpened. I had them convert one of the sets into straight blades without serrations. They turned out awesome! They cut through the meat so much better than serrated blades. Ill probably end up having them convert my second set into a straight blade as well once they dull up a little again. The knives are now much sharper than they were than when they were new, and theyre not cheap sets. They are Henkel knives, which are now improved from original condition. Im so impressed Ill be taking some old hunting and pocket knives in to have them work their magic on them. My lawn mower blades will be going there this spring as well. Nice work Moleta! Youve earned a repeat customer.

I have an old knife that was a gift from an Army buddy to commemorate our 2004 Iraq deployment. He wanted to make a knife from reused Mustang parts that we could use to when hunting. I never used the knife, my buddy passed away and the blade was in a sad state. Moleta was the third place I called and first to answer the phone. The owner fixed my blade and taught me theres carbon in the steel so its stronger and rusts more. Alena also taught me how to maintain it, limiting her own repeat business. Phenomenal service and felt great to learn a little while I was there. I have a Ka Bar Ill bring in and use their convenient 24 hour drop box.

This place is good for garden equipment, axes and any refurbishments, but I wouldnt recommend them for nice kitchen knives. I took in some good cutlery in need of just a simple sharpening and they took off a lot of steel and completely re-edged and re-shaped them all with a thick, course edge, more suitable for a machete than a Wustof. The knives still work, of course, but they are not the same and Im going to replace them. And I will use my stone from now on.*UPDATE*Thanks for the reply. No matter what, I admit two stars was a bit harsh so I revised my rating. And, its clear you take your craft and customer service seriously.If I had known that you only offer convex edges (and I would, if I had read through your web site), I would not have brought my knives in. I know convex has its fans and is a superior, longer lasting edge, but let me offer a few reasons why I dont think its a good edge for quality kitchen knives.1. Flat edge is the industry standard (not that it doesnt exist, but I have never seen a chef knife made with a convex edge). And all the sharpening services I have used or heard about, including Sur la Table, W-S, Knife Aid and a couple mom and pop shops, all offer a standard flat edge. So you can understand why I was surprised to find my knifes with a different edge. Its also the easiest edge to resharpen, whether at home or by taking it to a professional.2. Convex grind changes the shape and feel of knife. In my experience, a convex grind takes too much metal off, and all my knives with this edge have a swale near the bolster (after one convex grind!). I would even argue never to do a convex grind on a knife with a bolster for this reason. I have also heard that a convex grind on knives without a bolster tend to round the butt (and the tip).3. A convex edge might last longer, but the life of the knife will be shorter. Once you go with convex, you have to sharpen that way again, something difficult to do a home, and in a way that removes too much metal. This is unlike a flat edge that you can touch up quickly on a stone, fork or even the bottom of a coffee cup.4. Many kitchen knives should never have a convex edge, but all can have a flat edge. My Miyabi is a single-sided edge that requires something along the lines of 17:1 sharpening ratio. I also have my eyes on a Misono that has a 70:30 edge. Why spend the money to re-edge them? These knives are becoming more and more popular too.5. A flat edge is not expensive to do and doesnt necessarily have to take a lot of metal off. The big kitchen box stores charge $5 a knife. Knife Aid is about $15 a knife, including shipping. Ive owned my knives for about 25 years and they always looked new out-of-the-box after a good traditional sharpening.Im going to chalk this up to a classic case of miscommunication (and yes, Im picky too!). I should have read your web site, but maybe there is a way you can confirm with your customers before altering a edge, at least in this category of knives. Or maybe, if there is demand and profit in it for you, you can offer a choice.

Quick, cheap, and most importantly, well done. I took my 8 chef knife in to get sharpened and I was out 10 minutes later with not only a sharp knife, but the tip restored and a chip erased. Alena was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Will definitely be back.

I had very dull knives that couldnt cut through anything but butter. After stopping in here with a couple test knives, everything now cuts as easy as butter. Cutting through steak, frozen bread, and many other household tasks are easy with my newly sharpened knives. Ill be taking my full collection there soon.
