They no longer service Whirlpool for IN WARRANTY service but would love to get the chance to screw you for OUT OF WARRANTY Whirlpool service. Terrible way of doing business. Close your doors!RESPONSE TO OWNER: Be a leader and not a follower. If you want a respectable business that helps people you should do both in warranty work as well as out of warranty work. Cant always make a good buck in business. You closed your doors at the Branford location awhile back. Maybe you should do it again. I will never use your service and I will tell others as well. To be objective, i will start with the pros:1) Timeliness of availability. I called late in a day on Friday and was able to get someone in for Monday afternoon to look at the dishwasher.2) Timeliness of quote - After the service tech visit to assess what was wrong, i received a call for a quote in about 1 hour.Cons:1) Consideration of customer assessment - When i had called to schedule an appointment. I mentioned to customer service that the issue was with the circulation pump and there may be something stuck in it based on the trouble shooting problems i have seen on the internet. Most videos said that if the motor is still humming it is likely just jammed from debris and the motor and pump are still functional. They still felt the need to send out a service tech - which is understandable. I had mentioned to the tech that there may be something stuck in the circulation pump. He basically disregarded that thought and came back with a quote that i needed a new pump......Prior to calling i had attempted to check the circulation pump for blockage myself based on youtube videos. I basically got 90% of the way there but there was one factory-installed support band i could not remove to access the pump. As someone who has no appliance background, it took me about 1 1/2 hours to get this far....i would imagine someone who is familiar with dishwashers could get there is half the time. I was expecting for the $90 service call they would have taken my concern seriously and given this a look, but they did not.2) Price - While i understand charging for a service tech visit, $90 is just absurd for the level of support given. All the tech did was run a wash cycle and listen to the noise - i could have just sent them a video of this and saved both of us time. Then, i received the quote to replace the pump - $275 ($125 for the part $250 for labor) plus tax....I found the part online for $80 and this could not possible take more than an hour to fix for someone with knowledge of appliances. I know business need to make a profit, but this is just robbery after paying $90 for a tech visit. When i called and said i would order the part, they said they would refuse to install it.Frustrated with the process, i went down to the hardware store, paid $15 for a stronger set of pliers to remove the last support band, $8 dollars for replacement support bands and took the circulation pump off myself.....sure enough, as i thought, there was a glass shard that made its way into the pump. I reinstalled the pump and the dishwasher is now working perfectly.In conclusion, i would recommend General Appliance if you need something fixed immediately and cost is of no concern at all - even if the total repair cost is basically half the cost of a new machine. I would not recommend General Appliance if you are halfway handy or are willing to work with a local handyman who make take a week or so to figure out the most cost effective solution

I was having a difficult time finding a part for a Bosch microwave. I went to their shop. They located the correct part and called the next day to say it was delivered. Very pleasant folks. Very pleased.

Irving came out and fixed my washing machine and i felt very assured my appliance was in good hands. General appliance technicians are always very helpful and efficient. They are my first call with any of my appliance issue. I highly recommend them.

I have used General Appliance Service several times during my years on the Shoreline. I have always found them to be professional and competent in what they do. My refrigerators and microwave are all still humming due to their fine work!

We have used General Appliance for years now. Every single time I am met with kindness, and professionalism. They are always fully invested in fixing whatever problems we may be having. The service people coming to our home are always knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile to rectify the problem. I would recommend these people without hesitation anytime. And I will call them for as long as they are available !! I cant imagine going anywhere else!!! Thank you General Appliance :)

Good service. I have used them for several repairs in the past. Most recently with dishwasher. Was impressed that they pre-ordered several parts prior to arrival not knowing exactly what the problem was. This made it a much quicker fix. Responsive and timely.

My home is approaching 12 years old this year. Sadly, this past year, the entire appliance package purchased when we built the house which includes the refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and microwave have quit one at a time like dominoes. This follows the loss of my husband. I am so grateful for the honesty, integrity and competence of John and General Appliance. They saved me the fortune it would have cost me to replace each of the appliances. They were professional, highly competent, and fair in their charges. I definitely give them a five star rating!!

I would never call this place or recommend to anyone. Replaced electronics to fix my dishwasher and was assured by technician that everything else was working great (since cost was border line on getting a new one.) Less than a month later, electronics flashing and technician couldnt replicate issue but again assured me all was good and electronics reset was all it needed. Maybe since he was almost two hours late on four hour window, he missed the fact you had to press the start button to replicate the issue because I found shortly thereafter it still was not working with same electronics flashing issue. Fourth visit now and he finally found that the pump isnt working (although was working fine all three prior visits) which would cost me another few hundred to repair. Third office person I spoke to tried to explain why I hadnt been charged enough to date for all these visits so they werent going to do anything besides sell more parts and services to fix it. But the owner would call me to discuss. That was days ago and I havent heard anything from the owner.

Do not recommend Branford appliances for their repair service. Extremely bad experience. A $50 pump that needed replacement became a $500 nightmare. Called and told Diane I needed a replacement of a $50 pump. I specifically told Diane what was required. Even though I was specific about the pump replacement, a $99 service call was required. The service technician did not do the proper due diligence described in the manual required for evaluating the pump performance. Service technician was totally unfamiliar with the LG washer. Why did I pay $99 for a service guy to tell me I need a pump when I already told them from my initial call? The service guy was not prepared to replace the pump. The replacement part and labor was in addition to the service call! Why would anyone use this company to replace a part when the total cost now approaches $500 which represents the cost of a new washer. A $50 pump is now extrapolated to a $500 repair! What a racket! And when I complained to the manager that the service charge should be applied to the repair, he became totally combative and attacked my profession! There are authorized LG dealers in Groton that are easier to work with. They are not a authorized dealer and be careful with their charges . It will be an awakening!

Loved my experience with this company, will not hesitate to call them again since they service all my appliance brands, and the customer service is exceptional! Issues with my Dacor wall ovens, so I called to have them recalibrated - which was done, but also learned a lot about my ovens and how I should be using them to cook and bake. Changed my entire approach, really appreciated the education, and a terrific experience all around! They really know what they are talking about.

Outrageously Priced. Part online is $99 they want to charge $208... Then a $90 service call fee even though I know what needs to be replaced and then $120 hr labor fee to install the part. Come on

Tried quoting me for about $300 after taking $75 just to show up and look. Part was $20 on ebay, took 5 seconds to install. No thank you never again
