Thus far our experience has been amazing. I love our counselor and whomever is on text is amazing. They are quick with response, double check schedules and inquire if everything is satisfactory. The best part is one day I was sending in payment info but one part hadnt gone through, which they told me an hours later I apologized as I was at urgent care with my son and they asked if he and I were okay. Are you kidding me?!? Thats amazing to remove the monetary aspect to inquire if we are okay. I loved it and love them thus far and my marriage is no longer in crisis but in repair. Theres no one person over the other its equal culpability an forward progression.
My boyfriend and I have a hard time connection to therapist. After a few tries with different therapist at other places we finally connected with Star Point’s therapist, Paul. He’s seriously amazing and we felt relief just after the first session knowing that he would really help us. He really listens to both sides, makes you question your actions, gives the most helpful suggestions and gives you homework to apply what you learned in therapy in your relationship. This forces us to be mindful about our actions and how we speak to each other. Paul you’re freakin awesomeee. And he always has cool socks.
Star Point Counseling provides therapy with compassion and insight so you can start the path toward improved mental health and wellness. If you have any questions regarding their approach to the therapeutic process, speak with Sam, he will seamlessly coordinate the services you need.
Excellent counselors. I recommend them highly. My specific counselor was Steve, and I found him to be intelligent, insightful, and absolutely practical.
Worked with them for family therapy. Very helpful great to be able to go in person during covid!
10/10 recommend!!! Sam is the best when taking in my phone calls! I really enjoy coming here & also they have remote calls as well if you’re not able to make it into the office! I love the staff & my therapist carli is the best! She’s so nice and sweet! I don’t see myself stopping this! I can be myself and it really has helped me!!!
My family and I have been using Star Point Counseling Center with Jordan as our Therapist and we are beyond satisfied with them. They are accommodating, their prices are great and we have seen major improvements in our family dynamic. Even though the Pandemic, we have been able to video chat our sessions. We do family, couples and individual sessions and it has all been really helpful.
Clarissa is the best. She is very insightful.
I was an intern at this counseling center and had an amazing experience. The therapists are knowledgeable and compassionate. The office manager and staff are personable and professional. I would recommend them for any individual, couples, and/or group therapy!
STAR POINT REALLY HELPS AND THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS. I have been going here for a while for depression and the therapist is really great, I am much happier in life now. They have treated me with respect and are very compassionate to me. I know they are very busy and see a LOT more people than these few reviews reflect. They have quite a few therapists there and I know they help a lot of people.I am not sure why other people give them 1 star reviews. My therapist has never been late, maybe a couple of minutes, but I go to my medical doctor and sometimes wait over an hour to see him. My therapist had to cancel once because she was sick. I actually appreciated that because I wouldnt want to go to work if I was that sick. I really doubt a therapist can ruin a marriage like the one guy says, his wife was probably ready to leave him anyway. And the lady who gave her credit card to her son for his visits then complained about them running her credit card. Really? They have never been dishonest to me, they even waived a cancellation fee when I was stuck at work 1 time. I guess some people just want to hate on the people who are truly trying to help them.
My wife and I are in a much better place. Thank you Jorden!
I cannot believe how much Ive grown and changed for the better since I started my sessions here. Ive gone to many different counselors and therapists since I was a kid. Ive had good and bad experiences, and I must say, this is by far the best. It feels like everyone here is invested in my recovery! The counselors here listen to and care about me, and have been endlessly kind and put me at ease. I have gotten much better at establishing boundaries in my relationships, and at standing up for myself. Im happier and am overcoming life-long eating issues.I highly recommend this place to anyone considering counseling. You will feel at ease and loved in this office, and discover your true strength.
STOP and read this if youre searching... for Alcohol or Substance abuse treatment or Couples therapy. This group is the final stop. This is a No frills or thrills kinda deal... It gets final results of behavior change. The Director is terrific with dealing with Insurance coordination and Billing. The front office staff always answers the phone and coordinates and their system to coordinate scheduling is attentive and consistent. This group is in very high demand... So if you do get a time slot... Just be grateful you got in.... Dont complain about the fact that its in the middle of your work day... Invest in yourself for you and your family.
Im grateful for the personal insights the Star point experience has shown me and mine. Services are timely, objective, clear, loving, and sometimes tough. This experience helped my family grow and we are grateful. They take insurances also.
My husband and I started going to Star Point Counseling a few weeks ago. We both started off skeptical of whether it would really help and felt awkward even considering counseling. We soon felt right at home and on the way to a better path in our lives. Sam has gone above and beyond to help fit us into the schedule and is always available to answer my multiple questions. I honestly dont think he has ever missed a call or taken more than 5 minutes to get back to me if he did. Clarissa has also been an amazing person to talk to. I imagined counseling including skirting around issues for months before really getting to the help we need. Clarissa has not missed one stitch and addresses all of the issues that were on our plate and given real advice on how to fix our marriage. I would recommend her to anyone who wants a real healer. Star Point Counseling changed me from feeling almost embarrassed about counseling to recommending it to anyone who hasnt tried it!
Clarissa is a great therapist. She has helped with different strategies and communication tools that my last two therapists have never used. Shes supportive yet honest and has helped so much already. Grateful we found her.
I do not recommend this company to no one. If I could put a negative star I would. Went here because we had really good experience. We stopped going for a little because our life’s got busy. Me and my wife returned a few months later and the counselor we had quit and was no longer there. So then they gave us another lady. Day #1 I thought WOW she’s good. By the second or third visit I noticed she was always talking negative. Long story short she did nothing but ruin my marriage. Now my ex wife is 10X worse and it effecting my kids life and they brain washed my ex wife so bad that I’m Willing to pay for my ex to get real help before it’s too late. Please don’t take your family there. They are not doctor. See a real license doctor. Not someone that just talks and think they can fix your life.
I love it here! Compassionate and caring people.
I am currently a student at University of South Florida working on my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I also work as a receptionist at Star Point Counseling Center. Star Point is a great office to work at filled with well educated and knowledgeable counselors. It is through this experience that I am able to further my knowledge about how a private practice is run effectively and efficiently. I am lucky that I work with the co-founder, Sam Difranco, who knows a lot about insurance and who knows how to answer the difficult questions that clients often ask. I often see people that are reluctant to counseling walking out of the office happy they were getting the help they were looking for. Many people leave the office looking forward to their next visit. It is great to see what a positive effect counselors can have. I would recommend this office for counseling services.
Hi my name is Azalea Brown I’m a patient at Star Point Counseling since coming here I feel better about my self my counselor she is amazing Star Point Counseling is amazing it’s positive vibes everything u can ask for I wanna send a big thank you to them ❤️❤️
Kind and helpful people work with you through your challenges in life. Recommend to those looking for a good therapist. Definitely recommend Tansy.
I went here for couples counseling and I could not have asked for a better experience start to finish. Administrative staff was really nice and booking the appt was simple. They will text you to confirm and remind you of their appt which was really helpful. Our counselor was outstanding and made a huge difference in our relationship. I would highly recommend anyone looking for help with their marriage, family or just themselves to come here!!
My boyfriend and I have been seeing a counselor here for 4 months and our Counselor has helped save our relationship. My boyfriend proposed to me last Saturday, in our counseling session! I thought that was so fitting since we would not be getting married if we did not come here for counseling. Our counselor started to cry she was so happy for us. Sam has been very nice to us, one time he waived the cancellation fee for us when I was sick and couldnt make my appointment.
I am glad I made the call to come here. It took around 7 or 8 sessions to realize the problems I was having were deeply rooted to my child hood and the abuse I went through. I read Clarissas book, Therapy in Action, and it helped me understand why I directed my anger at other people when I was really angry with myself. I am going to continue going here to fully get over my anger issues. This has helped tremendously in how I deal with people on a daily basis. Everyone working there was very helpful explaining my insurance and setting appointments.
The building is very old, offers no privacy whatsoever. Sitting in the waiting room you can hear people talking during their sessions from at least 2 of their rooms, you can hear them clearly enough to participate in the session.Often late!
My son has been seeing a counselor at the Brandon location initially i set up the appointment due to his phone not working, they stated they had to place my credit card on the account incase of missed appointments, twice now my card has been charged with no warning to me that they were going to do so and overdrawing my account when they ran his card, stating to me that the charge didnt go thru on his card, but yet his account shows the funds being removed. This is completely unacceptable. I will be looking into contacting someone regarding this to see if I can file charges
I was not happy with this center. I came in and was expected to just open up on the spot. It was very uncomfortable and I felt unwelcome in this space. I felt like my problems were minimized and my body was being shamed. The counselor even hawked her book to me. Noooope. I wont go here again.
Had 4 appointments and two had been canceled by Star Point Counseling. One cancellation was because our counselor was not going to be in, later we received a text message saying she had left for another job somewhere else but they had another counselor that could see us 3/6. Our appointment today at 11am was canceled by text at 9:45am saying the replacement counselor is very sick and can we reschedule. So now for two weeks my appointments have been pushed back. This is unacceptable and I will never go back. I do NOT recommend anyone waste their time at Star Point!
This business is awful. It took me months to finally decide to go to a counselor. I was scheduled with Lael Louty on Tuesday of this week and today (Thursday) I was informed that she is no longer treating patients in the Tampa office and that she will only be in Brandon- this was only two days after I poured out my life story to her. I was specifically asked what office I wanted when I scheduled the appointment. If she was not going to be working in the Tampa office, why did the owner Sam schedule me? Why did she let me tell her all the things I had to say without informing me she wouldnt be there? Why did they let me schedule a second appointment for the Tampa office. When I told Sam I did not want to start from the beginning, he said you only saw her once and we have the note here. Well that once was huge for me. I told that person everything about me. I exposed pieces of me that I dont talk about. A few notes does not convey the feeling I expressed. It should never have been assumed that I would be comfortable just being reassigned because I only had one visit.I have trust issues as it is. So this is a complete reminder of why it is hard to trust. Blatant lies from someone who is supposed to help me. I am breaking to pieces right now. And once again I am alone.
I came here because I was sad after my divorce and I could not see my kids as much as I wanted to. They helped me a lot and I would recommend this place to anyone.
Attentive therapists and affordable rates!!!
Paul Kranz, LMFT, is an extraordinarily gifted counselor with insight into practical solutions for managing conflict and daily troubles. Our weekly talk sessions and occasional home assignments over several months greatly improved my attitudes/ activities of daily living. We share a mutual appreciation of Christ’s example of how to live within today’s community. I am blessed to have him in my Journey through life.PS Sam is extremely helpful in cutting through problems with insurance and scheduling. He is such an asset to Star Point Counseling. He takes responsibility and follows through with problems. Such a person is a rarity these days especially.
