I am in the process of shopping for internet for my new home and would love to avoid going with Spectrum, but I just cant get ahold of Opticom. I have called every day for three weeks, varied the time of day Ive been calling, and tried emailing many times as well. I may try to go to their office to speak with someone in person, but their hours are even worse than the banks, and frankly, I fear that if I ever have an issue with my service Ill never be able to get in touch with them.

The ball got dropped somewhere which caused a lack of communication for a couple weeks but once we got it rolling again They had my phone line set up within 24 hours and my internet issues, which followed, fixed within another 24. The technician had his hands full with a difficult job which they momentarily thought would be impossible but he got it done and now I’m happily set up with working internet and phone service at a reasonable price. Thanks guys! And A special thanks to the technician!

The customer experience at MT Opticom is dreadful. The lack of professionalism, the lack of technical know how is dreadful. They are consistent in the fact that their service level is dreadful. Alexa is the only quality employee there - how they retain her is beyond me. You cant get someone to answer the phone, and when you do, they hang up if they cant figure out how to help you. If only rural Montana had other options - Id never give them another cent of my money. This place is dreadful.

The absolute worst customer service!!!! I called and called and called and no one returns a voice mail. They had a $174.99 deposit for new service for almost 8 weeks and I never once heard from them about an install. After weeks of phone calls and leaving a message in every single mailbox I could, someone finally called me back and we got our money back but not after an argument!! I would never recommend them based on their terrible customer service!!

Extremely disappointed in MT.Opticom. Sold my house last July, called to notify them and they emailed me the cancellation form. Kept getting auto-billing. Finally called them again in February went through the routine again. Even though they disconnected the service in July they continued to bill the client. No help, no interest, no service. I would strongly recommend staying away from this company,

Montana Opticom is the most corrupt company I have ever dealt with! Avoid them at all costs. The internet service is terrible. I upgraded for higher speeds but they never delivered on an upgraded product. I was constantly losing internet connectivity. I was forced to move out of my home due to the fact that Opticom could not provide reliable internet - despite me paying for upgraded service. To add insult to injury, they continue to bill us and take money out of our account — even after we’ve moved and cancelled service with them. This is absolute theft! I’ve called them everyday for weeks with no response from anyone there. They owe us $600 for service they are still billing us for despite us moving out in January. We now have Spectrum and I’ve had zero connectivity issues. You might ask why we had to move. Well Opticom has a monopoly in the Baxter Meadows, Bozeman, Montana neighborhood. Their tech support is atrocious and insulting. I’ve tried to get ahold of their General Manager, Rease Burke for weeks. I cannot even get a response from this “company” that operates more like the mafia. These people should be arrested. It is robbery!!!

I have received solid and affordable internet service from Montana Opticom for over 6 years now. When I had an issue with my Optical Network Terminal, they were communicative and professional. I really appreciated their service!Sure, they needed to make sure it was their equipment that was having issues and not mine, but them doing their due diligence is not worthy of a negative review, even though some posting here seem to think that.My service is once again rock solid, I have 5 times the upload that many neighbors do, and for less per month. Not to mention its fiber, so my latency is basically non-existant.Thanks MT Opticom!

Do not use this company! Their internet service is okay, but if you switch to a different provider, beware! They will not process your cancellation in a timely manner, and will continue to bill you because there is a 60 day cancellation fee. We were charged for 120 days extra because they did not receive our cancellation letter

I have been doing Comunication work for over 15 years and looked into hiring on with Opticom years ago. After meeting with there head manager James Fitzgerald I didnt look back and was thankful to be able to continue working for myself. I dont know how they stay in business with such poor service. They must still be using the grant $ from Obama to bring service to the rural areas of MT, even though they have not serviced the rural areas just new subdivisions go figure....

This company is pretty easy to work with and communicate with if you are honest and make sure to read the contract. Service is by far the best in the area, especially for those of us who live outside Bozeman. Have used their service for some years now between work and home, and never had any issues.

Montana Opticom bills the HOA and, as a result, home owners in the Crossing 2 neighborhood for internet services that are not available and have never been provided. This is part of a bulk service agreement, but it seems fraudulent to charge for services that have not and cannot be rendered. As a homeowner, I have requested services numerous times, but they are not able to provide them. I am happy to pay for the bulk service as advertised when I bought the house, but believe this is fraudulent billing practice. In order to sell my house, for the clear title, they are effectively forcing me to pay for a service never rendered over many years.

Our service has been consistent and when we have questions or issues, which is rare, I get fairly quick responses. I do have to leave a message but someone gets back to me on the same day. Any slowdown I experience is due to my router rather than the service. And they give me good advice to remedy that. Our previous phone/internet carrier was far more frustrating to get help and answers!

I had an internet connectivity issue over the weekend and was able to resolve the issue the following Monday. The cyberpower box in our crawlspace got knocked down and the connector popped out. I didnt realize this but was able to troubleshoot quickly over the phone. Great service, the problem was on our end. Would have been even better if we were able to get them on the phone over the weekend. No great loss, though. I dont expect to have any more issues. I improved the mount on the cyberpower box so it wont fall anymore. No issues with the internet service itself. Happy customer.

Upload AND Download are the same speed!? Holy wow.0ms Ping and 80Mbps Up AND Down!!I would personally like to thank Reese, the GM, for his amazing customer service these last few days as well as Katie in the office. These two have been PARAMOUNT in the effective communication and implementation of my internet service this week. Reese, who (come to find out) is the General Manager, personally came out to service my internet connection and was one of the nicest and most helpful people I have ever met. He personally saw to my successful internet hookup and troubleshot all issues with me on site. Katie was ALWAYS available for my calls and helped me find the right service agreement, and was my main point of contact for the company. These two, hands down, represent how spectacular this company CAN be!4-Stars because the main service number, as others have mentioned, currently has non-existent customer service these days. With the COVID-19 situation as well as losing their main operator, I can overlook these issues as the management team has showed nothing but professionalism and care. I spoke with Reese personally about these issues, and he has taken them to heart and would truly like to remedy the situation. I respect that immensely.Thank you all again. Your internet is the fastest I’ve ever had!

If you choose to do business with this company (they have a 2.2 star review on google and a 1 star review on yelp so not sure why you would) make sure you do everything by e mail. Communication within the office does not exist and every time there is a communication between customer and the store that does not benefit the store the conversation never happened. If you need to ask for anyone that will help you contact David Guthmiller who is the only person while I had service that provided great customer service. I will also probably receive a snarky response from the company as other reviews have which shows how much this company truly cares!

I do not understand the negative reviews at this point. So far, everyone has been extremely professional. John the installer was fabulous and went well above what typically takes place. The internet works well and each time I have called the phone has been answered or, the one time I left a message, the call was promptly returned. Thanks for great service!

Absolutely terrible. Alexa always has an attitude whenever you ask a question or try to explain your concern. She will continue to cut you off and continue to give attitude when you confront her about it and never says sorry for the way she is speaking. They charged our account $1,055.00 for not getting the equipment back before the end of our contract although we still had a month before our contract ended. When you call to get e refund they tell you you are missing parts (which also happened to my in laws) and they just say they will let the finance department know about getting us some type of refund and when you try to ask a timeframe they will give you attitude once again and say they cant give you one. They pretty much tell you you wont get e full refund because they dont specify what entails equipment to be returned. I dont even understand how they are still in business.And... as seem in their review responses their product is terrible... always freezes up, dvr doesnt work even while you are paying for it. Dont let them fool you. Oh and they never call you back when they say they will, so follow up with them..

So there are a lot of bad reviews here and I just thought Id balance things out a bit. I had a reoccurring connection issue in which the internet would just blank out. I called the service line on the weekend and didnt connect with anybody, it was frustrating not having internet for the weekend (especially in this day in age!!!). But I received a call on Monday asking me how the service was. I replied, I had no idea you did anything? after a conversation it turns out someone came to my home and replaced the some components on the outside of my house, and now everything is working fine.Speed is great for Montana. I can stream to my hearts content. Service is okay, they get the job done. I really wish they could communicate better. It would be nice to know that they stopped by or was even working on the issue after sent up my flare. but all in all, I have internet and its good.

Customer service absolutely horrible!They destroyed my yard during install. Then after years of being a great customer I needed to cancel service because I was moving and they charged me for an entire month even though I tried to cancel 2 days past the start of the month. Would not even consider prorating the cost. I ask to speak to the manager and they refused to give me the number and acted smug about the entire situation. Do not use this service.

Moved to a new location and they said theyd get us connected. But never did. However, they charged us an extra month while lying about the reason for the delay. They never had any intention of connecting us. They dont even provide service to our street. They just wanted an extra month of fees, which they refuse to reimburse. Seems to be a pattern based upon the complaints Ive read here. This is their Modus Operandi. Pathetic!

I had to give at least 1 star to review them. TERRIBLE Customer Service. I signed a drop permit for fiber optic, and it took 3.5 YEARS to get service. Then they held me to a 1 year contract for service, after we waited 3.5 years for instal. We ended up moving after 4 years and had to pay off a 6 month contract we couldnt use. WORST Customer Service EVER!!! Almost took them to court over their sketchy contract, just out of principle. Their managers claimed to try and help and wished there was a way to let us out of our contract but ultimately hid behind our signature. I lost too much sleep over this deal and just had to warn anyone I could about this company. Fiber service was pretty good, but I would NEVER recommend this company because of their lack of integrity and sad excuse of customer service.

I have called numerous times and every time I get the same response: It always takes a long time to get a refund. No kidding! Its now May 15, 2019 and I still havent received the credit refund they owe me. Paula, whom Im guessing is the manager, isnt returning my phone calls. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Want basic internet at a fair price with zero drama? Don’t call this place.Opticom created an account for myself and boyfriend at the same address instead of putting us on one account, blamed us for issue. Asked us why we would open two accounts. Issue happened when we had to call to ask for bill as we had not received one and they said they needed our name and address. After that got two bills and two late fees. Charged us double what we owe. Won’t do anything about it. Have paid almost $400 for less than 3 months of service.Update: opticom agreed to credit us for 2 months of service if we paid total amount due. We were pleased with the resolution and paid $300 with the understanding we would get reimbursed. Then were sent a bill for $87 which included another month of service and a “post transfer fee.”.

I have been dealing with this company for at least 5 years now. I have their service at work and I had them in my home for several years that I lived in Bozeman. I have never had any issues with them and they are without a doubt the fastest provider in the area. Always professional, always courteous and prompt with any request I have. I only wish that they serviced Three Forks. Outstanding company one on the best in Bozeman. Not sure about all the negative reviews. But I guess it takes all kinds ...

Speed is great but customer service is terrible. Had questions about my bill because I had my dog had twice managed to get to the line going to my house. I accepted this was my fault but the second bill was 3 times the amount of the first bill. I paid the bill but sent a request to know why it was different. They never got back to me and after the third or fourth attempt I finally got a hold of someone. When I asked why they were different he was completely rude and gave me reasons that diddnt apply. When I told him they diddnt apply he just gave me another generic reason. He never did give me a good reason on why they were different. Be aware if you ever need service they bill you based on how they feel that day they are extremely unprofessional.

Great internet HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service!!! Ill tell everyone! The guy showed up smelling like alcohol, was late, not friendly, was asked not to mess with our security system and he did anyways. Left with no customer receipt given, manual, let alone no account or billing number and some girl is the onlyOne who answers and will never help you, managers wont call back. Early Feb 2018 we called Opticom to have our internet connected to our house. It is now mid August, 2018 and nothing.Our neighbor has a flower to connect to at the corner of our property, our neighbor directly across the alley has a flower to connect to.When asked how much longer well have to wait, they say our engineers are working on it.Its been over 7 months and not once have we heard from Opticom.I hear its the best ever once you are connected.How much longer will we wait.....

The most unprofessional and rude front desk person. She seems to be the only person that this company will alow to interact with their customers. We have been wrongly billed (their mistake) for an entire months service and after two months we are still waiting to be refunded. No apology, no attempt to make things right. We are in the process of getting a complaint about Opticom registered with the Better Business Bureau. Customers BE WARE!

2021 Update: Im changing my review from 5 stars to 3 stars because of the following experience: I closed 1 of my 2 accounts due to a move, and showed up at their office at 10:20am to return some equipment. I stood in the foyer and repeatedly tried to open a pair of locked doors. There were 3 employees sitting in the conference room on the other side of the glass partition, who could see me clear as day, and who refused to even acknowledge me. I called the customer service number which rang until it went to voicemail. I understand being busy, but if you can see a customer and not even take the 30 seconds to say Im sorry, but we have to finish this meeting, can I help you later? Then you are no longer worthy of a 5 star review.Original 2017 Review: If you have the option to use Opticom for your fiber internet needs, I highly recommend it. In addition to having the best bang-for-your-buck download speeds, their customer service is fantastic. Whenever I call, I talk to a real person who always answers my questions honestly.

I have been with Montana opticom for 5 or 6 years. A real person answers the phone everytime I call, I never had any issues with anyone who works here, and my rate has stayed steady. I dont get constant spam mail or calls like other Internet providers. Yeah my connection slowed down after awhile but I dont know if thats them? My old router? Or something else. Its always been more than fast enough for my needs. Thank you for your reliable service.

Great fiber internet provider in Bozeman! Much faster than what we had in Denver even. Weve been on the Opticom 80/80Mbps plan for 3 years and it has been great! Ive never had issues working with customer service. And I think Ive only had to cycle the power on the box a hand full of times in 3 years. Fastest internet in the valley!!!

Best customer experience Ive had in Montana! After ten years working in the tech industry and many years dealing with poor internet providers/service, Im over the moon with MT Opticom.When I bought my house last fall, they promptly got me up and running. Ive had ZERO issues with my high-speed fiber until it went out today (one year later). After submitting a ticket online, I got a call back within 30 minutes even though its well after business hours on a weekend.When it wasnt an easy fix, two folks offered to troubleshoot on a conference call with me at 930PM on a Friday. No only were they able to fix it remotely, one of them had already stopped by their office for a spare battery in case I needed a new one installed to fix the issue.Plus, they were delightful to work with, patient, competent, and clearly had customer success at heart. So rare these days.My original support ticket let them know I run a virtual business from home and need internet for work, and they went above and beyond to make sure I had the WIFI back within an hour. Im a customer for life now and will recommend them to everyone. THANK YOU!

Stay away unless you want to deal with endless headaches with this nightmare of a company. Speed is awful, customer service is some of the worst Ive ever seen. Your internet / TV will drop 3-4 times per month for hours at a time, sometime days. Literally get any other service you can. I would choose dial up over using opticom again.

Stay away from Montana Opticom - WORST provider - bullies homeowners to get business. Making me pay monthly fees for service, via HOA, but refuses to provide me with connection and service regardless of me having an active working line to my home! NOW I have to double pay for internet, because Opticom bills me for services Im not receiving, then I have to pay for another company to actually provide me service. We are in the process of getting a complaint about Montana Opticom registered with the Better Business Bureau. Customers BE WARE!

Internet is great. Customer service is horrible. Alexis is very rude and condescending. There is no communication and when you call about your bill you are treated like an idiot. Was charged $25 for a remote to run their equipment after the original one i had for 5 years quit working..cancelled service because of this and was told to return all equip, then told i wouldnt get a refund for the brand new remote I didnt use and returned...so very rude when i asked why she said she couldnt resell it. .BS. edit*** I spoke with David the manager and he was very helpful. Refunded me the cost of the remote.

They wait untill a Friday evening to shut off the internet with no warning or reminder that you forgot to pay your bill. You can pay on a Saturday so by wrights it should be on sometime Monday, but it wont get turned on again until the end of the week. therefore they cut you off the first chance they get and make you pay for days you do not get to use.

This company has the worst customer service ever. I am forced to use them for internet due to a contract with Baxter Meadows. I did have cable, however, they charged me for service that was being switched to billing through the HOA and would not do a refund. I canceled service and they charged me for an internet device even though I am still required to pay them for internet. I returned the device and had a credit for over 2 months. I sent in 2 requests for my credit and then called. I was finally returned my credit but then billed $2 a month for paper bills for the months they did not return my money. I did not ask for paper bills and have paperless billing in my profile. They are the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with in my life

Its going to have taken 3 weeks to get internet into my building in the HOA assuming they somehow meet this next goal of theirs. They cant seem to respond to a voicemail and Everytime Ive called them Ive gotten a different response on when internet would be installed. Ive been told so many dates at this point I dont really expect it to be installed in a week but one can only hope. I thought everyone hated the big internet companies but Id take them over this place any day at this point. Frustrated to say the least.

This company does not treat its customers well. Alexis, the receptionist, is extremely rude and unprofessional. Her tone of voice is belittling when asked general questions about the services provided. It took over 3 months for them to come out and drop the fibers -- there was no communication on their part discussing the delay in dropping the cable fibers. I called multiple times to ask for a projected drop date and was unable to get one. I basically figured they had forgotten about us after a couple months and went ahead with a different internet service provider. I recently got a letter in the mail from Montana Opticom stating they are going to start billing us in 30 days because the drop had been completed (over 90 days after making the drop request). Because we signed a document in the beginning stating we want them to make the cable fiber drop, we are now having to pay them for a year of internet after having to wait for months with no communication or information from them. This company does not know how to do business and should be shut down. Id advise to never consider Montana Opticom for internet and any other services they claim to provide.

Horrible customer service. I called and talked to Alexis on the phone who laughed at me when I told her about the issues Ive been having paying with her mobile app. Once I told her about the issue she said that that was my problem and that the reconnection fee would still be charged my account. My husband called back later and spoke to a gentleman who talked about our financial situation. Highly unprofessional do not do business with this company.
