Steve is honest and informative. I dont know the rest of the crew but they are quick, efficient and very competent. This is literally (and I mean literally literally) the second review Ive ever posted. They fixed what needed fixing and gave me options beyond that while explaining to me in detail what the issues were. If anyone as truck illiterate as me needs a great mechanic they can trust Ill send them to Rays.

I took my truck in to get the AC fixed. They estimated $750 to replace it. I said go ahead. A few hours later they called and said the belt needed tightening and saved me $600.. I wont take my cars anywhere else. Great guys. Great service. Very honest.

While on vacation to Utah our 2011 Honda Odyssey had an electrical problem which turned out to be a bad alternator and battery. We were in a pinch and Simon and the crew were able to get it in and repaired more quickly than we anticipated. We only lost a day, and were able to get back on the road by 6:00 p.m. as they were closing up for the day. And although repairs of that nature are costly, we felt the work that was done and that price that was charged was very fair.

I have been coming to Ray’s for over thirty years and they are the BEST! They never try to sell you repairs you don’t need. They just tell you what is wrong, how much it costs, and how much time they need to fix it. Also their prices are great. Granted they are usually pretty busy (because of their awesomeness) and you may have to leave your car for a while but it’s worth it. They also don’t charge you $60 just to tell you what’s wrong like most places. It’s so hard to find honest mechanics and these guys really are.(Steve and Simon!) I don’t even live in Bountiful anymore but come to Rays if I need work done because they rock. GO THERE!

We were so hesitant to repair a cracked muffler but it was a necessity for a road trip we had to Arizona this weekend. We called several shops and decided to try Rays due to the high reviews. Our biggest issue is the honestly and trust with mechanics and shops in the past overcharging and stating unnecessary work. SO GLAD WE WENT TO RAYS!!!! Honest! Quoted us with full disclosure. Offered alternatives and suggestions. VERY decent labor charges. Fast, efficient...went the extra mile too! What more can be said. I believe we have found our hometown mechanic. THANK YOU!!! I drive from Kaysville to go to Rays in Bountiful . They are absolutely amazing people who are always super helpful and really care that you are getting the attention you need. Ive mostly only taken my cars in for a routine oil change, but Rays has always been fast and efficient. We did take our Honda in once for transmission issues and they gave us a good recommendation for a transmission shop. Theyve been kind, fast, and efficient for us so far.

Because of poor experiences at other repair shops, I have always been concerned about the level of integrity that auto shops have.Rays Muffler in Bountiful is an exception. They have always been completely honest and fair with me. They explain repairs, and always give me options. They often recommend less expensive options to try first when symtoms do not indicate a clear problem.There have been times when they are very busy and repairs will take longer than usual, they always give me a realistic time frame for the repair or service.A great place for repairs, maintenance, inspection, or anything else you need for your truck or car.They specialize in mufflers, but do a great job at everything!

First off, I have had Rays do work for me and I have done work for Ray himself and he has been great to work with. I went in this time to get a diagnosis on my muffler. Simple, easy, quick right? No. I even went first thing in the morning. They had 3 bays wide open. I ask the guy at the counter if they could take a look and he immediately was very rude to me and said no, they were full. Uh, they had 3 bays open. He did say they could take a look in a couple hours. I said I had no way to get home, leaving it open for him to offer me a ride home, but no, nothing but him giving more rude comments. What kind of customer service is that? Without your customers, you dont make money. I will take my money else where. I hope Ray reads this. You need to do something about your front counter help, like help him out the door.

We had our van in for an issue with our oil light coming on, even when the oil is full. They told us with certainty that it was not our oil pump. The mechanic said it was most likely a sensor or an electrical issue. So the next day they completely changed their tune. They told us that they didnt want to do the job anymore, which is fine, its their business. However, when my wife picked up the van, the gentleman behind the counter was very condescending to my wife and talked down to her. I believe the mans name was Steve. Needless to say, I would not recommend Rays Muffler for anything that has to do with a vehicle...and I surely wont be recommending them to any friends or family.

To happy camper I have always had a wonderful experience throughout my many years of service from Ray’s. I know if they open at 8 AM to be there at 7:50 as they get busy really fast (other people must feel the same way I do). I think I remember you coming in and getting upset that they couldn’t pull you right in. If you were the same guy I’m thinking of, they were actually moving in my car at the time. I was the guy sitting on a chair next to the soda machine. Next time come in a little earlier, or just leave your car there until they can get to it. I’m pretty sure they could have helped arrange a ride or something for you

I hate car repairs and I always wonder if they are being honest. Rays is honest. Not the cheapest though--I have had thousands of dollars of repairs done on my older vehicles. I go back to them because they take the time to get the job done right. For electrical work, go elsewhere. Brakes, emissions and maintenance they are great.

I have a few vehicles and I have taken them to Rays recently. I used to use a large chain tire shop down the road, but switched when I felt like I was not being treated right. They have seen all my vehicles since. They are a smaller shop and are always busy, and recently expanded as i understand it. dont expect to be in and out in 20 min with a new muffler or an oil change. They will take car of you but you have to understand that when you want the best you have to pay the price. With Rays Muffler you just plan on leaving the car for a an hour or two. They are open and honest with me and are always happy to answer any mechanical question I may have. They also are competitive with there pricing. I am happy with Rays Muffler and do and will continue to refer people to them. Thank you Rays

My brother recommended Rays and Im so very happy he did! Went in this morning with a Coupon for an auto care package (oil change, tire rotation) printed cost:$45, total bill came to $89. Dustin, argued and insulted me for 15 mins about how I had not asked for the correct service, and charged me double...even though I had personally handed him the coupon. Never again. I said as I left he said Welcome to the real world!. Poor customer service would be an understatement. Take your business elsewhere. Not worth it.

After having sporadic problems with my vehicle not starting, as well as problems with some electronic components, we took it in thinking it would cost us a chunk of change. Imagine our surprise when the auto repair was completed, and we were told it was a simple fix -- No charge! Honestly, when does that happen? Weve trusted Rays Muffler for years. Over and over theyve proven honest and trustworthy.

Rays set up my last vehicle with a great sounding exhaust. They were very helpful in picking out just the perfect volume and tone. Now that I have a new ride I will need to go see them again.

These guys are great. I was traveling through the state on my Harley and the exhaust pipe header broke off and was louder than heck. I had to meet people the next morning to ride to Colorado and it was late afternoon. I called Harley stores to see about repairing it and was told they would have to order the part which would take a few days and cost close to $400. I stopped in Ray’s Muffler to see if they could weld it back together. They told me they would give it a try but we’re somewhat doubtful about but I left it there. I got a call about an hour and a half later and told we it was fixed and ready to go and for only $150. I didn’t skip a beat on my trip and it’s still working great.

I love these guys. I dont trust anyone else with my cars! They are upfront and honest. A little expensive but 100% worth it for the service!

Very professional, very kind and explained everything to me without any pressure!I went in to change a thermostat after trying and failing myself. They didn’t even make it an issue, they even used the parts I had already ordered.They also discovered an issue with my motor mounts and explained why my car was rattling the way it was.No pressure to do the add on, simply just informed me and asked if I wanted it done. It was completely hassle free for me and I could pick it up right after work.Incredible service, incredibly grateful.

We searched around the area for a long time looking for someone we trust and now we only go to Rays in Bountiful. We have taken all of our cars in and feel like they are always honest and fair, even if it means they dont maximize their profit. On more than one occasion they have had the opportunity to charge us more for something (and we would have paid it without question) but gave us a cheaper option or told us we could wait longer. Just this week we called in to have them check a new vehicle before we finalized the deal, they told us that since it was such a new car we should just bring it in to get the oil changed instead so that we would definitely get something out of it, and they would check around to make sure it looks good while they were changing the oil. They are not out to see how much they can get you to buy, they really just do what you need and for a reasonable price. We LOVE that we feel like we can totally trust the guys in there and dont have to worry that they are trying to rip us off, (because we arent very car savvy). I highly recommend them!

I came here before for just a safety inspection, and the man at the counter assumed I wanted both emissions and safety. It took over 2 hours to complete. My bill came out to 60 dollars instead of 25, and when I pointed this out, the man started slamming things around and slapped the new bill on the counter in front of me . I told him Sorry, I guess I shouldve specified that I just wanted safety to which he replied Yeah, you really should have in the nastiest, most hateful tone of voice.Yesterday when I came again for my safety, it was the same man. He impatiently asked what I wanted without a hello or any other courtesy. He told me it would be an hour and a half wait before they could get my jeep in for the inspection. I will not be patronizing this place again. I dont have to put up with snotty attitudes from grown men, and waits in excess of an hour of my valuable time for basic services.

Weve had a great track record with these guys. Weve taken all of our vehicles to them. What I love is that they absurd give me options, even if it means less money for them. Weve been talking card to them for about 7 years now. I totally trust what they say.

They serviced my car and broke my latch to my hood! My hood no longer opens!! When I called to ask, the first guy that answered said hed help then placed me on hold for over 5 minutes. Someone else came back on the line and asked WHY I was holding. When I explained about my hood, the guy jumped on the defense and said they didnt know anything about it, that they dont keep records for cars they service, and it most likely broke while it was sitting in the dealers lot!? Real professional guys. Such poor customer service.

Never will I come back to Rays Muffler. EVER. They wanted an outrageous price to replace something that cost $4 and my husband replaced in 1 minute. They nickle and dime for everything. The guy was rude on all 3 occasions we were there and no customer service skills. My other car will be going to Burt Brothers tomorrow. They know how to treat a customer. The only reason Rays gets more than 1 star is because I didnt have to wait a long time, probably because everyone else goes somewhere else.

I went in here needed my muffler repaired about 45 min before closing time, I didnt expect them to be able to do it in 45 min but I walked in and stood there in front of the owners talking behind the counter for about ten min before they even looked at me or even acknowledged me which I found very rude, they could have at least said well be right with you. Honesty! On more than one occasion Ive brought my vehicle to Rays and they are always honest. Long story short, the other day I had my car back in to them on what we thought was going to be electric issues (big job, BIG MONEY) and they found a failing alternator was the problem. An alternator they put in a few months back. They could have lied, BUT NOT THESE GUYS. They never have. The fixed the alternator at of course no charge to me since it was a faulty part. But think about it, the could have charged me for an expensive fix if they were dishonest. Vehicle fixed, Im back on the road. And they are still HANDS DOWN the best shop in Utah for auto mechanic needs!

I take my trucks to Rays all the time. If there is alternative options I they tell me. The guys up front are awesome and I have never had an issue with the mechanics work from the shop(no issues with repairs). If they cant diagnose a problem they refer me to someone else that may.

I had to pursue getting my car on the road again, myself; by researching which specialty shop to use.Second, your being stumped was resolved at my expense; and you offered me no reimbursement for that training to your business. I think this is an additional disservice....Third, I told many people what happened to me. It was my intention to experience their reaction and to gain a Reasonable Person perspective. Everyone shared my reaction that this was indeed a disservice by your company, and would also expect to get reimbursed for the Check Engine Light diagnostics.First Post/What happened:I took my car to Ray’s Muffler in Bountiful for an oil change. While driving home after, I noticed the idle was somewhat erratic while stopped at the only traffic light between the business and my home. I didn’t drive my car for the rest of the weekend, and then drove it the following Monday to work.Within 20 miles, my check engine light came on while driving home that evening.The next day, I called and asked if anything could have been bumped or disturbed that might cause the check engine light to come on. I was told that a hose could have come loose, or when the air filter was checked the seal could have been disrupted. At that time, I questioned why I wasn’t asked if I wanted my air filter changed, and was told that it didn’t need to be.I was told that if I brought my car back in, they would check their work by retracing their steps and run some tests. This was done and I was informed that their work looked fine. They told me the codes, and sent me on my way, explaining they don’t have the equipment to diagnose German cars.I made a future appointment with a specialty shop, and also made a trip back to Ray’s Muffler to write down everything they had done, so I could tell the other shop.The cause of the problem was the oil cap was missing the O-Ring. Their diagnostic equipment didn’t tell them that, it was just something that had to be found by troubleshooting. They also told me my air filter was dirty (also had straw in it), and needed changed.I stopped at Rays Muffler on my way home from my appointment to discuss what was found.After I explained the situation, I expressed my dissatisfaction with my oil change experience. Immediately, the employee got defensive and told me they were not negligent and it was my car’s fault. My O-Ring could have been brittle or cracked and fallen out and gone unnoticed by the employee doing the oil change. He made reference to the fact that maybe it wasn’t the same oil cap or that perhaps the O-Ring was missing when I brought my car in for the oil change… which I challenged; as my check engine light had not been on.The employee also wanted to put my old oil cap that was missing the O-Ring back on my car, to see if it would throw the codes again. My answer to that was no, as I wasn’t about to undo what I had just spent additional money on making right, and also cost me a day of my time in doing so.This experience left me feeling like I was wronged by this business because I left with my car being in a non-working condition after an oil change, and cost me additional money and time to get it working again. They also sent me on way thinking my air filter didn’t need changed, and it did.Because of the employee’s defensive demeanor… I wasn’t provided an opportunity to make a request to negotiate a compromise with them for incurring additional costs to get my check engine light resolved. Nor, did they offer.I am very disappointed with the outcome of this situation, and will never do business here again. I was not respected, made to feel dishonest, and I certainly dont trust this employee or the decisions he made, regarding this outcome that went from bad to worse. The lapsed time dealing with my oil change took me 2 weeks to resolve, due to my work schedule.

Ive been taking my cars there for a couple of years now, not only will they tell you how it is, they arent going to try and up-charge you on unecessary repairs like other shops. Are they busy? Yes, but thats because they are THAT GOOD. I would recommend aranging to drop the car off, but they are going to get the work done as soon as they can. See Simon, Steve, or Dustin. This place is a joke. I brought my car in to inquire about some custom exhaust work. All the guy did was chat with his buddy for a half an hour on the phone about parts I could have already bought myself on the internet. If you need custom exhaust, go elsewhere.

Unhelpful and horrible costumer service. I went in because I could hear that something was lodged in my blower motor. I told the guy working that the blower motor needed to be looked at. He wrote down blower motor. Three hours later I get a phone call from the same guy telling me that they dont fix blower motors! He didnt even look at the motor, he could just hear that something was wrong with it. The worst part? He was so rude and condescending the entire time! Ive had one another negative experience here, but this one pushed me to writing a review.

If you ever have issues or are unsatisfied with the work preformed on your vehicle dont expect to get any resolution. The owner and management staff are as unprofessional as you will find anywhere. I will never be a customer again. Also if you have a bad review itll only show up on this website for a little while. Why not keep all the negative comments hidden from prospective customers so they cant make an informed decision, not unlike anybody else I guess.

Rays Muffler used to be good, they are horrible now, went in to have my AC looked at, has a leak in the system, they had it for, like 4-5 hours, long enough to recharge it and, find out where the leak was, but they did not, it cost me over 150.00 for the service, AC went out again after 2 weeks, called them, the service was not guaranteed, so it would most likely cost me another 150.00 plus whatever the price was to repair the leak, did not go back, this Company is horrible, will never use there service again.

They dont stand by their work.After they fixed my AC system, I drove the car home and noticed that a valve was leaking AC refridgerant. I called Rays and reported the leak, but they didnt believe me. They said that if they fixed it, then it must be fixed. The phone call ended after they talked down to me for a few more minutes.

The estimate they gave me for my muffler, was 150$ more then everywhere else. I felt it was really dishonest they said I needed a new one when I didnt, calling around will save you money. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Oh Ill also share this on my Facebook to warn my friends!!! Warn your friends!!!
