Sharon is a superior hygienist. A gentle touch and a thorough cleaning. But so is Denise who I have more experience with. I’ve been blessed with good teeth which means the few procedures I’ve had are anxiety producing. Dr. Montoya has been kind, patient and really a craftsman with repairs. The X-rays of my mouth were maybe twice than were required. I noticed the Assisrant was in a hurry and had to take more photos than necessary. It appears I paid for her errors . I was tempted to tell her to stop but I didn’t. So, not only did I receive maybe a double dose of radiation I paid for it.

Ive never left a review for BDD even when I had Invisalign treatment here because I didnt think I could be unbiased. I used to work as a dental assistant and as the Practice Administrator at this office and Dr. Montoya is my hubby. BUT, for the first time in at least a decade, I had to have to some fillings and who better to choose for that than my own hubby dds!? I was SO.NERVOUS. Even though I KNEW I was in good hands, I also know that epinephrine bothers me and my mouth gets tired if I have to keep it open too long. (Ive had fillings before but as I mentioned, it was many moons ago!)Well, Ive had many many patients sit up after the numbing injection and say, I did not even feel that! That was amazing. and now, I can CONCUR. His shots are absolutely painless - and this coming from a total needle-phobe. He used just enough numbing medication to get the job done without making my heart race too much and I was so grateful for that. The procedure (3 fillings) was quick enough that my jaw didnt get sore, the assistant (Claudia) and Dr. Montoya worked together very smoothly, and I didnt have a single issue with my bite afterward.Im very pleased, and Im happy that I get to leave a glowing review for this office from my very own experience now as well! :)

Ive been going to this office for over a year and Im very happy with my experience. The staff is friendly and approachable. The office is clean and comfortable.

I ran across my $13,290, 2 year old receipt today and had to post. $13K and when I point out what is wrong with my veneers, the reply from friends and family is no one would notice except you. For $13K...I should not notice either. This is after I had to fight for him to make it better. My front two teeth were not the same length and he let me leave the office. I approved them, he said. I did... WHILE UNDER ANESTHESIA . I went back and he reluctantly made it better but not great. Disappointed at best.

We had a great experience. My daughter (18) had chipped her front tooth and needed some minor repair. She was also feeling self conscious about how disproportionately small her lateral incisors were, so we decided to add some cosmetic work at the same time. Dr Montoya repaired the chips and then built up the smaller teeth to better match the surrounding teeth. We had one chairside session, and no numbing (although she said it hurt a little). Dr Montoya did a fabulous job. Her teeth look fantastic and she is so happy about her smile. Would definitely recommend!

Dr Ed Barrett was my dentist for well over thirty years and I wasn’t too happy when he retired. But, Ed was careful about who he sold his practice to and handpicked Dr John Montoya to come here from San Diego. I decided to stay with Dr Montoya and am glad I did. Since he became my dentist I have had a fair amount of dental work done, and I would like to say that I have absolutely no reservations about recommending Dr Montoya to anyone, young or old. Try him out. From the moment you walk in the door, you will have the comfortable feeling that you couldn’t get better dental care anywhere!

Dr. Montoya is an exceptionally talented and skilled dentist and after at least a half dozen visits I can say with 100% certainty that he will ALWAYS be my dentist.

They LIED to me to get me in the door. Before I set my appointment, the first thing I asked was whether they take my insurance. I was assured that they did. After waiting weeks for the appointment, I went all the way to the office just to be told that this dentist is actually out of network. What a waste of time! NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

The staff is friendly as others stated, but beware if they start suggesting root canals or other expensive treatment. I decided to get a second opinion from a reputable dental practice after Dr. Montoya presented me with an extensive (and expensive) “dental plan” which included three root canals. The second opinion concluded that I really didn’t need ANY root canals. I was told that there was a small amount of infection around one tooth, but that if I took care of my teeth, that would likely go away.Since I am reluctant to post negative reviews unless I’m certain they’re deserved, I have waited over a year to post this. A year after being assured by Dr. Montoya that I definitely needed multiple root canals, I have no pain or problems. I’d like to believe this was an honest mistake, but pushing me to get three unneeded root canals shows either dishonesty or gross incompetence. Having a root canal (besides being expensive) effectively kills the tooth, so I am very glad I did not return to Dr Montoya.

I admit it; as Ive gotten older Ive gotten more afraid of dental work. I dont mind getting my teeth cleaned but anything else fills me with dread and fear. Dr. John and his staff made the experience quite tolerable! We decided to replace 3 old crowns but I put off doing the work for more than a year. I finally had it done today and feel very silly for spending all that energy worrying about it! I didnt even feel the needle with the anesthetic (and there were 3 of them!)! Why did I wait so long?

Several years ago, I was roughhousing with my 100+ lb. dog (a Great Dane and Dobie mix) and our heads collided. My nose was broken but, fortunately, I did not lose any teeth. Then two years ago, during a routine dental cleaning, we discovered that one of my incisors was dead. It had died so long ago that my body had totally absorbed the nerve and blood vessels and, since the tooth had never discolored, its status was unknown. The tooth had moved out of position though (it had fused with my jawbone) and after examining my panoramic x-rays, Dr. Montoya showed me that the tooth was fractured along the entire gum line; it was simply a matter of time before it snapped off. We talked about next steps and options. There was no question that the dead tooth had to be removed and…replaced. But since the tooth had moved, the surrounding teeth had moved as well and before I made plans for an implant, I had to decide whether or not to re-align the other teeth. (I’d had braces as a child but there had been considerable shifting over the years, especially since four permanent premolars had been pulled to make more room – as was the practice in the sixties.) I had many decisions to make.I spoke at length with Dr. Montoya and with Dr. Christine Cole (the periodontist referred by Dr. Montoya; she did a great job extracting my petrified tooth). In the end, it came down to this: I believe that good-looking teeth make a greater contribution to one’s lifelong appearance than most people realize (in addition to their never-to-be-underestimated value as food processors). If I was going to do anything at all, I would do it right. I completed a course of Invisalign therapy. I also chose to add porcelain veneers to the other three upper incisors since they had endured a lot of wear and tear over the years and the enamel had worn quite thin, leaving the yellow dentin underneath more visible than ever. Though I had originally planned to spread the work out over time, Dr. Montoya explained that completing all four teeth at the same time would offer the best opportunity to match the color; he was right. As part of the process, he sent me to Prodent Ceramics whose expertise was, and is, clearly evident. Now that it’s all done, I can certify that Dr. Montoya is an artist, as are all his partners, and that my mouth is a work of art. A subtle masterpiece, though, as only he, his staff and I will ever really know what went into the making of my great, natural smile.
