My Walter, a French Bulldog, has a very sensitive tummy. Late last night he had extreme vomiting issues so I drove him quickly to Southwest Florida Veterinary Specialists ER. Walter has been here before and sees this place as somewhere he goes when hes in trouble late at night and they will make him better. He is the sweetest little boy and he was treated so very well again here. I cannot say enough about the kindness and empathy of the staff and doctors here. They treated Walter as the loving boy he is and were so VERY kind in passing on updates about him to me as I waited anxiously in the parking lot due to the COVID 19 restrictions. Thank you to everyone here that night for helping my Walter!

I have so much respect and admiration for this facility. The staff members I have met went above and beyond my expectations. My 16-year-old Dachshund went into the hospital with heart issues. The staff remained in close Contact with me during his stay. They quickly assessed the situation and stabilized him. I was able to bring him home with medications. I am so happy they are there 24/7! It is agonizing to watch your friend suffer while waiting for the regular doctors office to open. It is comforting to know that there is a place to seek help during these situations. Keep up the good work!

This place should be closed. They lack the proper staffing to run an emergency vet. My dog died there because they lacked a proper cardiologist. And the doctor on staff lied. They wouldn’t let me back with my dog then told me my dog died due to anxiety. These people don’t really care about your dog. They care about money. Beware. Take your dog somewhere else.

My 9 month old Great Dane inhaled water at the beach that turned into pneumonia a few days later. The staff and doctor were so great…taking him in right away. They explained everything they were going to do and made sure he had all the meds he needed until we got back home to see our regular vet. This is the first time he’s been sick and it was a doozy! I highly recommend them and if any of my boys get sick on vacation again they’ll be our first stop!

Horrible triage skills and horrible wait time. Waited almost 2 1/2 hrs to be seen. Called them as I was leaving to tell them I was going elsewhere and they told me sorry we just had two critical cases come in. Yes they did. They showed up about 10 minutes before I left. Doesnt explain the other 2 hrs of me waiting. I reported difficulty breathing, increased heart rate, and lethargy of my pet. My father is a veterinarian and I myself a doctor, I know what good care looks like. I expected in the very least for a tech to come check vitals... nothing. Absolutely appalling service. No clue what the doctors skills are because we never made it in the door.

This vet was great in 2019. not so much nowadays. For the safety of your animals, I recommend you go to another 24 hour emergency vet. No vet doctor on call or duty. Stabilize our dying animal then inform us that no doctor is available for surgery. We need to go to another hospital. That should be recommend immediately. But they need your money that bad. Ever since covid this place has no personality, you get greeted at your vehicle by a no named individual. No passion, no sympathy.

I was referred to Southwest Florida Veterinary Specialist by Blue Pearl Pet Hospital after my 5 lb Chihuahua had an undiagnosed episode. I followed up with the referral and my dog was treated by Dr. Wendy Arsenault. Although I never met Dr. Arsenault face to face, she did update me via a lengthy phone call and explained in detail what my dog had experienced-basically a heart related reaction due in part to her heart murmur. The follow-up written report was also very thorough. Dr. Arsenault prescribed a compounded medication in a dose that was extremely difficult to obtain anywhere other than their in-house pharmacy. When the time to refill was fast approaching, I called the office and explained that it was going to be a real hardship for me to travel to Bonita Springs every month to pickup the medication. Their response was no, problem we can mail it out to you for an additional $11, this on top of the already expensive charge of $52 for a monthly supply. Keeping in mind, that I would be paying this amount every month for the foreseeable future, I asked if there were any other alternatives to the medication that I could more easily access closer to home. The response was a resounding, NO. And so I embarked on a quest to find the medication in question in the correct form and dosage closer to home. I finally found PharmacyGo in Estero who were willing to compound the medication for me. Getting the prescription transferred over to them, however, proved to be a monumental task. The office staff, and yes Im going to name names, Alexis, Jessica, and a tech by the name of Danielle were the most unprofessional, rude, and uncaring individuals I have ever come across. I cant believe that a vet of Dr. Arsenaults caliber would surround herself with such employees who essentially represent the office. These individuals lied to me again and again and refused to return PharmacyGos requests for the information needed to fill the prescription. Their stubbornness and uncooperativeness resulted in my running out of pills, and putting my dog at risk of having another episode. My dog was also due to be boarded while I was out of town for a few days and she needed to have her medication with her when I dropped her off. After much discussion and more lies, The staff at SWF Veterinary Specialist finally complied and forwarded the presciption literally at the eleventh hour. Although I found Dr. Arsenault to be very competent and personable, I will never, ever, go back to that practice again.

After examining our dog she thoroughly explained all of our options and her diagnosis. She took her time and didn’t rush. Could definitely tell she was interested in the best outcomes for our dog, not just to treat her and move on the the next animal. All the staff was very caring. Highly recommend this place. Last week our dog Bentley was dying and on his death bed from being poisoned. We live right by Southwest Florida Veterinary Specialists and called our regular vet which recommended we go to an emergency vet immediately. We got in the car and drove straight to Southwest Florida Veterinary Specialists after calling and let them know we were on the way. Once we arrived (nobody is allowed inside) and had to remain in our car even though we are fully vaxxed, we called as we saw nobody for 15 minutes come in or out, we called and let them know how sick our animal was several times. We were told it would be at least 2 hours as there were several sick animals in front of us in line. As our dog lay dying in our car and after several phone calls explaining the situation we left to go to Florida Veterinary Referral Center in Estero where they immediately took our dog back as they understood the situation was dire. We never received a call that our dog would be seen from Southwest Florida Veterinary Specialists that our 2 hour wait was up. Had we waited, our dog would have died we were told. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. If you ever plan to take your sick or dying animal here, I hope that is it not during season or a busy time of day as your animal will not be seen. This place is the most disappointing experience we have encountered living in the state of Florida since 2015.

I received a call at 6Pm to be told that surgery is needed and oh sorry no surgeon on call and sent us to another Vet Hospital. We knew going in that she would need surgery. The test where to confirm. She should have told us to go to the other hospital immediately. The surgery was needed ASAP. No warmth. Kept me waiting in the car for hours with no updates or timeframe as to when I would have an answer.

Horrible!! I called about 30 minutes ahead, because our Dog ate chocolate. They told me that they will only accept us, if we call the „Poison Hotline“ before we arrive. I asked what for, and they said that the Doctor required it.So I called the Hotline, explained what happened and guess what they told me… Go and visit a Doctor immediately and let him vomit!! So I forgot to mention, that I had to pay on the Phone $75 to get an information I already knew! After we have arrived and having an emergency, it took about 1 hour until they have been finished with paperwork and so on. Again, we are talking about an emergency!! Our Dog could have died!!Then a Nurse came out and asked me what happened and after I told her, her reaction was „WHAT???Why is he still out here???“ and she took our Dog inside. The Doctor then called me and asked me „did you called the Hotline?“.I said yes I did. He asked me then „what did they say and what did they recommend?“.Are you kidding me? You are a Veterinarian and you don’t know what to do with a Dog who ate chocolate? That is something every Veterinarian and every Nurse knows! You let him vomiting, immediately!! But the Doctor there not only didn’t know what to do, he wasted even more time by calling the hotline again and search for advice! So to make a long story short, they make you make for an information every one already knows and has NO Clue about day to day treatments! All in all it took 4.5 Hours to have a standard procedure done!Think twice if you want to bring your dog and let him get treated from a Student, because that can’t be a doctor! And they are not in a hurry, even with a emergency! Go to the ER on Pine Ridge or to Estero, but don’t waste your time going there, it might be to late for your pet!

Referred by my vet as my cat’s red blood cells were way down and glucose high. She couldn’t walk. They put Her on iv and during 2 days there I kept calling and was told she walked to litter box and ate some. Picked her up and got NO written report or instructions just copy of bill, told to take her to my vet in 3 days for recheck, and got a script for some $300/bottle med for anemia that I ran right out and picked up and took back there so they could give her a shot of it. Those 3 days I fed with syringe as she wouldn’t eat and she could’t walk. Called repeatedly for copy of instructions findings/report and they said didn’t have it yet but would send when they got it. Last time i called they said the dr left early because wasn’t feeling good and I’d have to wait for her to finish it. So now at 3rd day and took to my vet. Had to put her down as glucose # was thru the roof and red blood cells even more down. Next day finally get report from this place that said to get strips to monitor glucose in urine and if started going up take to vet right away. So for 3 days i should have been monitoring but didn’t know i should because they couldn’t take time to send me instructions on her aftercare! She may have been alive today if I had of known what to do after I picked her up. Would never recommend this place to anyone!

I really hate writing bad reviews but this place deserves the time I’m going to waste writing this.Where do I even start.....We waited a YEAR for an appointment with the cardiologist. On Monday we travelled an hour away to get to their office and I really was expecting a thorough exam and to be able to express all my concerns to the doctor and have her actually take the time with us. Unfortunately, it didn’t go as imagined. For one, they got my two cats mixed up and wrote up a diagnosis report for the wrong cat!! I never even met the doctor in person. I had to talk to her on the phone and wait in the car the whole time, which was 3 hours. If they would have let me be with my pets I could have calmed my cats down and make sure that the doctor knew what cat was who. My poor cats came out of that place Completely traumatized. Not to mention they NEVER called me to tell me that I wouldn’t even be able to meet the doctor or see any of the echo results. $1,200 later and I’m not even confident the results she gave me are accurate. She also claims one of my cats might have a heartworm. MIGHT?! Why wouldn’t you just do all the testing you needed to do to confirm whether he does or not. I literally sat in my Car for 3 hours just to have a piece of paper brought out to me. The appointment I’ve anxiously awaited for a year for was just a waste of money and unneeded stress on my animals and myself.

AVOID THIS HORRIBLE VET. I brought my cat in for bladder pain because it was night and his regular vet was closed. I had to wait in the car while they took him because I was not allowed to enter due to COVID (though my regular vet allows you to enter the exam room with your pet). While they had my cat, they told me that he bit one of the vets. This was EXTREMELY shocking to me as my cat is very sweet and has never bit anyone in his entire life. This leads me to believe that the vet and techs must have handled him aggressively and carelessly. When they finally returned him, they gave me two medications, one liquid and one HUGE pill clearly designed for larger animals like dogs. They told me to begin administering the medication that night, but DID NOT even provide a syringe for the liquid medication or a piller...excuse me, but how did they expect me to give my cat medication that night without the tools to do so? I picked up both FOR FREE from a vet right down the road the next morning. However, the first dose of those GIANT antibiotics caused my cat to vomit about twelve times within four hours. When I called the vet about this, those morons recommended I just keep giving my cat the medication. Needless to say, I did not. Luckily, my regular vet was able to fit me in the next day. I explained my horrible experience at SWFL Vet Specialists and my vet was very concerned. My vet gave my cat an anti-nausea shot, provided him with new medication that did not make him sick and was the appropriate size for a cat, AND provided the tools to administer the medication without me even asking. DO NOT take your pet to SWFL Vet Specialists. If you do, make sure you go inside with your pet and watch that the vet handles them properly.

My dog was there for an hour and a half and died. I did not expect that at all and they could not tell me why. I do not know if my dog was dead for 5 minutes or 15 minutes before they stumbled upon his lifeless body but they had the nerve to charge me for $175.00 for CPR when the vet had literally called me and ASKED me if i wanted him to do CPR. I asked his advice, he said no because they didnt know how long he was dead and he was old. I agreed. The hour and a half visit cost me over 1200.00. The only charge I wanted removed was the $175.00 for the CPR. The office manager hung up on me and was as rude as they come. Her name is Christina Pitts. Heartless and insensitive not to mention a poor manager - I will never go there again and I am now writing a bad review. Had she shown compassion, and removed that one charge there would not have been an issue. I now am questioning everything they did on that day to my dog.

I was so worried about my dog coming in so I’m glad I called. The receptionist was calm and told me after I explained he was having trouble breathing to bring him in through emergency. Erica was her name and I’m so glad she was sincere and compassionate for us.My baby had trouble breathing after dinner and I feared it was a heart problem. I’m glad we went to emergency and that he had simply ate too much so needed to throw up. Hank is a glutton and needs a diet which the vet and the nurse gave us great advice for a healthy dog food diet. No more spaghetti and pizza for Hank and Charlie! We were lucky I think, because emergency tends to have long wait times, and we knew it was regulation to have people wait outside. We got in rather quickly and filled out our paperwork, before we knew it we had an eager nurse come out to help us once we got there.Due to the wonderful reception and doctors care and the endurance of the nurses to have hank release his pressure. They have a hard and stressful job and yet they do it the best. I know I could never have to deal with hysterical money grabbers and apathetic stingy bad pet owners. I consider myself half-good, at that since he was clearly suffering from a bad diet and little exercise. But I’ll be better, they dont treat you like a bad person, just a person in need and a human who wants to know what I can do better. Erica made me and my family laugh she was very sweet and loving on Hank. The doctor was also considerate and understanding. It could have been worse, much worse and for some people I’m sure it is, the staff are delicate and prepared for whats to come. We signed CPR papers and were ready to give a deposit of $500 for Hank. All in all my experience was hopeful and I felt my family and I was cared for in a difficult situation. Erica the receptionist was like a friend and the doctor was spirited as well as the nurses. It only took a couple days to get a refund processed but I was told the manager Christina takes care of that easily within 24-48 hours, and I never met her, nor was able to talk to her since she kept having the blessed receptionist take a message. Maybe shes a ghost?? But I got it in time, the reception Eugene was apologetic and reasonably frustrated for me which I loved. I will come again should I need advice from a knowledgable nurse or I mess up and get to talk to a caring and energetic receptionist like Erica, just be careful of management she doesn’t seem to like working. 🤔😅🥰😘

I only write reviews for companies that come in either above or below average. To me average doesnt warrant a review as its the bare MINIMUM that an organization should do for its customers.Desiree is a 14 lb. rat terrier mix with an adorable little face (see attached photo with Natalie) and a sassy disposition which my wife, Marsha and I have come to cherish. Diagnosed with Bladder Cancer on March 30, 2018 at the UF Small Animal Veterinary Hospital and given less than 30 days to live without expensive, painful traditional chemo the situation was very grim for us. Its our feeling that Desis sassy side has helped her to endure multiple painful urinary catheter insertions and more than 30 days in the critical care unit of three different hospitals, ASH and Southwest Florida in Naples along with our local hospital, Animal Emergency Hospital Volusia located in Ormond Beach, FL. We live about 330 miles to the NE of Naples in St. Augustine, FL.At the end of June, we traveled to Naples seeking alternative cancer treatment with Dr. Anja Kordon who is now Desis primary veterinarian. At the time Desiree was tethered to a urinary catheter and needed 24 hour care. We spent two weeks and around 4 hours a day in Dr. Kordons Bio-scalar energy room. In that time, Desi would return in the late afternoons and spend the night in the hospital. The good folks on the evening shift at South West Florida would care for her and get her ready for the next days treatment over at Dr. Kordons. In those two weeks we got to know everyone on the night shift very well. The vet techs that we interfaced with were very caring and kind to her. Special thanks to Marie, Alyssa, Chad, Sarah, Beth and the others. We would like to especially thank Natalie who is very special and dear to us as she treated Desi like a member of her own family. Affectionately referred to as Auntie Natalie we welcome her into our family as well. It was Natalie who along with Dr. Rubin helped us make the critical decision to discontinue using catheters and go back to the UF Small Animal Hosptial in Gainesville where a very talented Dr. Alex Gallagher successfully implanted a stent. A move that was definitely in the best interest of Desiree and has greatly improved her quality of life while we continue to treat the cancer. Dr. Rubin went out of her way consulting two other doctors within the organization in order to do what was right for Desi. We are thankful for her extraordinary efforts, expertise and concern. She is world class as is Natlie.Though its never easy on the pocketbook to spend 14 days in critical care I can say from experience that the value was there for us with regard to the care and love that Desi received. Without hesitation or reservationwe give our highest recommendation to anyone considering using the services of the South West Florida Veterinary Specialists & 24 Hour Emergency Hospital. They make decisions based on what is best for their patients versus the hospitals bottom line. We trust them implicitly and wish they were up here in NE Florida.Marsha and Brady FennellSt. Augustine, FL

I wish I could give this facility higher remarks however their lack of organization when it comes to filling prescriptions and picking them up is so frustrating. Our dog was placed on several medications that were not available for pick up at general pharmacies. This happened more than once: I would call for the refill in the 2 business day requirement. Then call again after the 2 day window to confirm that the medications were ready for pick up. After confirming that they were ready, I would make the 25 minutes drive. To have them shipped is additional cost I was trying to avoid. When arriving, low and behold, the scripts were not filled yet and they were working on it. After checking out, I was handed a bag with only one medication in it. Thankfully I checked before leaving- and had to inquire about the medication I was quickly charged for but hadnt received. Such a mess. The last time was a final straw. Erica, the woman answering the phone was very rude and talked over me while I was asking why she had told me they were ready for pick up when they were not, resulting in a 45 minute wait in their parking lot with my 3 year old. From a customer standpoint I did everything correctly. I have a heads up and if the medication wasnt ready I would have made the trip at a later time. I don’t need to be patronized over the phone by employees.

To make a long story short, Cupid had to be euthanized. His health took a very dramatic and rapid decline and the treatment options for him were not promising at all. Dr. Rubin was very realistic with me, this is what satisfied me with their service the most. She spoke to me as if i were someone she knew, not just a customer. She gave me her honest opinion of his condition and how she would go about treatment for him if he were her pet when I asked her. This is the first time that I have been able to write this review since we lost our sweet Maggie girl💔on 11/20/19. There are no words to express how grateful I am to the entire staff at SW Veterinary Specialists in Bonita Springs! We had the pleasure to meet Dr. Retotar when Maggie was admitted and she was so compassionate and professional. I felt that we were leaving Maggie in good hands. They all tried to help Maggie but unfortunately she had a progressive congenital heart disease which turned into CHF😪We did get to take her home but she did not want to take her meds and it was so hard to see her constantly panting and she had an elevated HR. We made the decision to take her back in and had the pleasure to meet with Dr. Courson who calmly and compassionately discussed our alternatives for Maggie. The decision to put our Maggie to sleep was the hardest thing that I have ever done in my life😭 Dr. Courson was wonderful! In closing my heartfelt thank you to the entire staff from the front desk, to the animal care technicians to the Veterinarians. You are all Angels❤️🐾

SWFVS is welcoming, timely, and affordable. The employees care about the animals that come in. They treat everyone professionally. to ensure that their pet is going to get the correct treatment. They go over pricing and the processes with every guest, which really helps a pet owner feel like they have understanding of the situation, even if they have no idea what to do! Appointments or emergencies, pets big and small: they really do want to help your best friend give them the service they need. Thank you, SWFVS!

Our beloved 12yr old Puggle, Bailey was diagnosed with a large mass on her liver (via blood work and Ultrasound at our local vet Affordable Petcare Naples). They recommended SWFLVS for CT Scan. We met with Dr. Potanas and his assistant Andrea, who very thoroughly outlined options for treatment. Diagnostic tests and a surgical procedure were decided for the removal of the tumor. Dr Potanas caring demeanor and confidence revealed to us, our Bailey would be in great, capable hands. I write this review one week post op (removal of huge mass & spleen which also had possible metastatic cysts, biopsies pending) and she is doing very well. The SWFLVS team and Dr Potanas were great in following up after we brought her home.We highly recommend Dr. Potanas, Andrea, TJ and the entire team of professionals at SWFLVS.

No compassion what so ever.. given two choices.. this plan or that one.. when I didnt agree I was asked to sign off saying i declined proper care for my pet but was denied a copy of each. They were afraid I would slander them on social media. The exam room was filthy with blood spots from another animal. They prey on people in hard situations..

This place helped save my cat Peeps life, I was a mess when walking in and they handled me with a lot of care and reassurance and helped guide me in a very scary time for me, I can’t thank the team enough for how they treated not only me but Peep also, I’m only 20 years old but they treated me professionally and just like any pet owner, it was worth every penny to bring home peep. Thank you for all your help.

My dog has a heart condition and we come here at least once a year to make sure everything is good. The doctor was really caring and the staff was very professional and kind.Revised review 8/8/21. What I thought was going to be a great annual visit has turned into a terrible experience. They continue my screw up my girls meds that keep her alive, now they charge $11.00 to rush a script.I took her for her annual visit and spent $168.00. We got in the car and she immediately went into tachycardia. They told me theyd have to bring her in as an emergency even though I left a mere minutes ago. I told them to just give me my dog and forget it.Their clinic is a total rip off plus the only cardiac veterinary clinic on the west coast. Go figure.

We took one of our cats to multiple vets and multiple doctors over the course of 5 days and finally, Dr. Anderson came across what eventually was the problem. Unfortuately, our cat was put down because the odds of the surgery were really not the best and he wasnt a great candidate for it but in all, he would have saved his life. We traveled back and forth over a hour drive each way but it was worth the great care from the employees at this facility. I would trust them again and appreciate how comforting they were.

This clinic has some amazing vets such as Dr Rubin and assistants such as Karen, but some others that I would never entrust my pet with such as Dr Michelle Patrick (worst vet I have EVER met and I have taken my pets to several of them due to moving). The thing is that you never know who youre going to get if you come in for an emergency or even sometimes if you have an appointment. This is why we have decided not to come back to this clinic. I feel I cannot trust some of the staff who are very impatient and pushy and Dr Patrick who is horrible. I dont think they really care about my pets

Worse Vet Ive been to. Got an exam. Was told my dog needed a certain procedure. We didnt have the cash so my Dad got Care Credit for us to use. Refuse to let us use that unless he comes in at 10pm? How about making it easy for your customers who are already being overcharged to begin with. Asked if we could pay tomorrow with Care Credit so my Dad could come in and pay and they refused. You dont work with people. Obviously dont care about the animals. Only the money. Many other Vets work with you.

I have paid huge amounts of money to this vet clinic for my pups cardio issues. Vet turnover seems to have resulted in horrible service. No updates for appts, impossible waits to get prescriptions refilled. They are non-responsive to my pharmacy. They just left my pup without a prescription refill with no options to schedule an appt when I can be available! Finding a different cardiologist in Naples, and with this stress, i’ll Probably need to find one for myself! 😩

Dr Jennifer Mulz delivered devastating news to me about my pet but did it in the most compassionate, calm, professional, and easy-to-understand way, and I am very grateful for that. My mind was spinning with the news and tears were flowing, and she remained calm and answered my million questions to my satisfaction and explained something as intricate as heart functions can be, in a way I totally understood it. WARNING under no circumstances take your pet to this Emergency clinic I didn’t know any better when I had to take my cat Missy there a few weeks back. First the staff members told me even though they saw me in distress about the state of Missy that they are euthanizing an animal in the room next to me which upset me even more. Then without knowing what was wrong with missy gave me an estimate of on the high side $4500 and on the low $1500 I said no, please run blood and X-rays first. They did. They came back with not finding anything and gave me my cat back as they found her no medicine nothing said $830 please and sent me on my way and told me to go to my regular vet in the morning. I was up all night because I was worried and kept checking if Missy was still alive, her condition was still the same in the Am so i took her to my regular vet who based on the findings from the result of the ER clinic gave her anti nausea medicine. Missy was better that day. What I am trying to prevent everyone to go through and have happen what occurred to me a VET office at the swfl veterinary specialist who saw a vulnerable person and milked her not helping her animal. If I worked my business this way I would never make a dime so good luck and I hope many people get to read this and are warned before taking their precious animals where they think they get help but on the contrary only get ripped off #swflveterinaryspecialists #ERvets #rippedoff #warning SWFL Community Information - Fort Myers - Naples - Cape Coral - Punta Gorda Er-vet Animal Lovers Krysta Sylvester Adam Vellano Gayle McLaughlin Barker Trin Wilson

I am usually not a person to say anything on ratings or reviews other than to fill in the stars, but in this case, I feel it is necessary. I have been taking my baby boy, Romeo, to SWFL vet specialists since April when we almost lost him. I met with Dr. Patrick and her tech, Michele, for the first time. Romeo was very sick and my vet referred us to the specialty hospital and Dr. Patrick.Dr. Patrick and the staff of SWFL vet specialists have treated Romeo and my family with the utmost respect and professionalism. I have had Romeo at the hospital at all hours of the day and night when he needed care. Emergency care as well as advice has been given by all staff members from consoling to helpful medical advice by doctors and techs. When I was in a situation where I needed help giving Romeo an injection and I couldnt take him to the hospital because of his seizures, a tech volunteered to come to my house on her way home to help me. Where do you find people to do things like that out of the goodness of their heart. That means a lot. Dr. Patrick specializes in small animals and since Romeo is a chihuahua, she is his primary doctor. He has been treated by just about every doctor in the hospital since he has been there at all hours of the day and night for emergencies. I cant say enough about Dr, Patrick and all the staff at SWFL Vet specialists.Thank you for all your help with my baby boy, Romeo!!!!

RESCUES BEWARE! I am very disappointed in SWFL Vet Specialists. I have been taking my animals to them since they opened (despite the ridiculously high cost of care) because of the quality care they give. Recently I took a foster dog from Miami to give him a chance at finding a forever home. Unfortunately we found out the hard way that Bingo had more troubles than we could handle. He attacked my Buddy Bear, my baby. We immediately took Buddy to SWFL Vet Specialists and were greeted by TJ who was wonderful. The rescue group that I was fostering for told me to inform them that this incident involved a foster dog with a 501 C3 licence as all Vets honor that and give a discount in unfortunate situations like this one. They did not. They said because Buddy was not the foster dog they could do nothing. Most vets give a 30% discount. I then noticed a coupon for a free ER visit behind the desk and pleaded for one... They said I could only get it from my vet, which is closed because it is midnight! So they gave me a choice of 300 for staples in his head with no numbing or 900 for stiches with anesthesia. Obviously, I will pay anything to help my baby. The next day I went to my vet and got this mystery coupon to save 100 dollars in hopes they woukd refund it. THEY WOUKD NOT! The fact that they had no sympathy to the fact that a rescue volunteer and rescue would be paying is out of pocket and taking away from helping other animals is disgusting to me. This coupon says must have at time of service so make sure you ask your vet for one in advance and carry it on you at all times in case your dog needs to go to the EMERGENCY ROOM!!! HOW STUPID. NEVER GOING BACK L. RESCUES BEWARE

From my first phone call, to first appt, surgery, and follow up (with all my questions) each one of the staff members that I spoke to was kind, patient, understanding and helpful. My dog had a swollen bum and he was looking at having to have an anal exam (and yeh not a visual one) and I knew he was going to resist hard anyone Trying to check it out. Dr. Potonas & Emerson listened to my concerns and we implemented a plan that would hopefully be the path of least resistance from my dog. Instead of examining him that day, they had me take him home, give him some anxiety meds, and then bring him back where they gave him a shot to put him in a deep sleep ( and they let me sit with him while the meds took effect) and they carried him back and did the exam and went straight on to surgery, so we didnt have to come back and go through the whole process again. Dr Potonas fixed the hernia on one side and the weakened muscle on the other (so it didnt turn into a hernia) and he got neutered at the same time. If he would have been neutered it would have been less likely that the hernias would have ever occurred. They always explained everything, never made me feel rushed, called and kept me updated during the procedure and I was able to call and check on him anytime day or night. It was just over a month ago and he is doing great. I am so grateful to SWFVS and their amazing staff. I think what made me the happiest is that my dog is a mix of the bully type and they didnt treat him like a criminal the moment we walked in.

If you are looking for exceptional, specialized care for your pet, look no further.I have a 13 year old dog who was diagnosed 2 years ago with a heart murmur by his primary vet. When my buddy started to decline, I began to seek further solutions since my primary vet could only do so much. In my research I was amazed to find a pet cardiologist in the area and decided to take my dog in for an exam. Within the first visit, Dr. Aresnault was able to identify and treat my dogs illness which turned out to be Congestive Heart Failure.During the two years of dealing with my dogs disease, there has been many twists and turns, but always support and seen improvements with Dr. Aresnaults expertise. She is a compassionate, candid doctor and truly gifted. While I wish my buddy would live to be 99 in human years, I am thankful his life has been extended with care and comfort as a result of taking him to SWFL Vet Specialists.
