Horrible service! I rented a track skidsteer for this weekend memorial weekend so we can break ground on our property. The machine was scheduled for drop off on Friday morning, I called Thursday at 4:50 to check in and get a better idea of when it will be delivered after confirming yesterday. The General manager informed me that it has a bad hose and wont be delivered, not 1 phone call to let me know. If I didnt call, I would have no idea. Thank God McAllister was still open and I was able to get a machine with them. I will Never recommend this company ar ever rent with them. Mu husband is a foreman for a construction company who uses Southside often, but will now go to McAllister.

Truck was very unclean. What with COVID-19, youd think theyd use more care to keep their customers safe.

Would not rent here again. I rented an auger that would not start and came out with several mechanical defects. (Pictured below)They sent it without gas and then informed me I’d be charged for refill. Everyone is busy now and they returned my money but they didn’t offer a replacement or to repair this one...I had three hours invested running around and picking this up while a work crew waited. I called three separate times to speak with management and still haven’t heard from them. This would be a great area to open a rental company.

We rented a lift from here last weekend and needed it longer so when we returned it we reserved it for the next weekend my husband drove over a half hour to pick it up for our reservation and they said it wasnt there they had extended the rental of the previous person and forgot our reservation. We are now stuck trying to find another rental someplace else at last minute as the work we need to do with it has to be done this weekend not to mention the weekend we did have it it rained almost the whole weekend. How does a rental business not check to see if they have a person scheduled to rent something before extending a prior rental!! Wont recommend this place to anyone!

Always a great place for equipment. Call ahead to schedule. But its there when you need it. Has Uhaul as well. Chevy Pickup was brand new, only had 79 miles on it when I got it.

I would not recommend this place at all. Used the skid skeeter from here and it ran for 45 minutes and overheated. Was told that they were gonna give me a refund and then when I showed up in person, they told me they never said that. So if you use their equipment make sure it has been 100% inspected. If you are a mechanic better double check it. They are horrible on their devices.

Dealing with Southside Rental has been a pleasure. I rented a skid steer to move some dirt around at my house, and the gentleman who delivered it was very helpful and made certain I knew how to operate it before he left. I have little experience with heavy equipment, so I greatly appreciated his helpfulness. It was intimidating to go through the process of figuring all this out, such as renting it and operating it, but Southside Rental was very patient and understanding as I bumbled my way through. The price was significantly lower than other places Id checked, so I am a happy customer. Ill be coming to Southside Rental for all my future equipment rental needs!

Had just what I needed for some trench work for burying conduit. Customer service was friendly. Its definitely a small town business but Im not sure where some of the other reviewers problems are coming from. They were polite got me what I needed quickly and check-in was a breeze when I came back to drop off my equipment. Will definitely use again.

I have rented a wide variety of materials from this place; having bought a serious project house as well as having some professional parties. These staff are always affordable, reliable and helpful. They have stayed open ten extra minutes, delivered no-delivery items, and let me pay upon return because it was to late the cash register was closed. They are patient and helpful. The party rental place is fine, no complaints and no issue. I have never asked them to go the extra mile, so I do not know if they would. I rely on them without any concern what so ever.

The staff was so kind and courteous. The U-Haul server crashed midway through my transaction and the Man I was working with at South Side Rentals stayed calm and collected and knew just what to do and who to call to get it fixed. From there I got to drive a very new 9” ford van that had all the perks of a modern car including remote locks. They even offered moral support and a laugh when I arrived back with a heavily damaged IPhone 8 Plus that fell from my pocket while I was shutting the door of the van earlier in the day. Things happen and for all that South Side Rental could do for me they went above and beyond. By far the best U-Haul partner in Bloomington!

Great service, quick and friendly.I rented a uhaul truck from here and was accidentally overcharged, so I called to see about reversing the extra charge, and the employee I spoke with was kind and helpful. He saw the error immediately and also realized that he wasnt able to fix it for me (because of a nation-wide outage for the uhaul software). I was planning on calling back the next day, and before I called back, the next day without my prompting they had resolved the issue for me and sent me a refund. Fantastic customer service!

Better prices than master rental or sunbelt.Had a Kubota that had an issue after most of the day and they brought me another piece of equipment and the person who brought was very helpful.Staff always are available when you call and they seem to actually care about their customers unlike many businesses.

Has anyone ever rented the lift that you pull behind a vehicle? Did you have any problems at all with it? Please let me know asap. Couldnt get it to work right they sent someone to look at it and a switch was wrong plus trouble with key. I think this place needs to communicate with each other or sick with one worker at front desk answering phones. Tried to make a payment gave my credit card number and the guy didnt write it down so another person called my daughter and lied Im not to happy this story will cont..

I rented a Trailer from them and they were really nice to me and very prompt with their service. I broke down my trailer and U-Haul said it wasnt covered in the insurance. I was not happy about this seeing as I paid for insurance for this very reason. So I called Southside Rental and they made U-Haul comply and fix the trailer for free!!! These guys are awesome. U-Haul was being difficult though. Dont ever wreck any U-Haul equipment...

Good group of honest ppl unlike one rental store in town!! When you need something and .know if something comes up they will take care of you

Ive rented garden equipment, fence post equipment and a small moving van from Southside. They are always very courteous, they explain use and policies very well so there is no confusion. Also, they are very nice and treat people respectfully. I would highly recommend them to friends and family.

The U Haul representative showed us a truck initially and by the time, we were about to leave the yard, he told us that we were given the wrong truck and we were given another truck. We were in a hurry and we didnt have time to check the truck. We returned the truck that night and the next morning, I was charged around 150$ for damages when nothing happened while we drove the truck. I went and spoke to the representative again and told him that I wasnt the one who did the damage and I still had full insurance, the representative told that he found 3 damages and we were lucky to be left off with 150$ fine. He was rude to us too while he said that. We were practically robbed in daylight. I wouldnt recommend taking rental from this place to anyone.

These guys came through for me the day of my move when Budget left me hanging with no truck. Got me a truck immediately and at a reasonable rate. There was some minor mix-up with the cost per mile they quoted me on the phone versus what I was told when I arrived, but they gave me the lower quoted rate so it was all good. Thanks, guys!

Youre going to get a truck, but they arent going to be happy about it. They are usually pretty rude both in person and on the phone, which always notches up the stress a little on moving day. Ive used them a couple of times because they are convenient and the truck is always there, but really poor customer service, unfortunately.

Had an appointment for 5:00, show up, sign on door says uhaul service ends at 4:30. No indication of this online, nor did the store reach out. Total wrench in my plans. Thanks for nothing.

Great staff and they have all kinds of heavy equipment power tools hand tools carpet blowers hand and power sanders. Awesome place.

Friendly staff, waited around and extra 10 minutes for me to get my rental van back before closing up so I wouldnt have to be charged for another day.

PLEASE AVOID SOUTHSIDE RENTAL!! They incorrectly marked the fuel level on my Uhaul truck, and tried to charge me $50 for 9 miles worth of gas.They have you sign off on the fuel level and all paperwork before you even see the truck. The 17 foot truck had 215,000+ miles, steered badly with lots of play and horrible alignment, and beeped madly when you started it. Also it was explained that the key was lost, so they recut one by hand, so it sometimes took some working to turn. I had to withdraw the key about 1/8th inch to put the pins in the correct position. Also the truck chugged and sputtered when accelerating or driving at any pace faster than a geriatric buick driver on a Sunday morning without their glasses. All that said, I took no points away for the condition of the truck, as I understand that trucks get old, and was more than happy to put up with its many quirks.However, I noticed on pulling out of the lot that the fuel level was at 3/4 tank instead of 7/8 as marked and promised in store. Thankfully I noticed pulling out of the lot that the level wasnt as marked, and took multiple pictures of gauges before travelling even 1 mile. I also contacted Southside rental, who assured me that it would be no problem, just bring the pictures when returning the truck in the morning.The move went well, albeit long and with much cleaning, when we unloaded the last few boxes and had my girlfriend drive back to return the truck while I continued to move boxes around. Knowing that it might be an issue, I had her get 1.4 gallons of gas and a receipt.Southside assured her that their would be no extra charges, both before and after she presented the receipt and pictures, and broke into tears explaining the whole situation, a combination of situational stress, moving stress, and lack of sleep.Less than an hour later, I look over the contract receipt emailed to me from Uhaul, and see that the mileage is correct at 9 miles total, but that I have been charged $19.50 for EZ Fuel Sales, as well as $30.00 for Fuel Fill-Up Service Fee. $49.50 worth of fuel and fuel charges for 9 miles travelled!Avoid Southside rental, who have showcased predatory practices, gross incompetence, and outright lies over a simple moving rental.To Uhauls credit, I contacted the customer support line by phone, and the agent was extremely friendly, caring, and helpful. After sending her multiple pictures and the gas receipt, she was quick to issue a refund of the fuel charges and make things right. Uhaul as a whole has been nothing but good to me, despite Southside Rentals best efforts.
