DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! We purchased our above ground pool in March of 2021. Paid $500 non refundable deposit plus 75% or total cost up front. Around $4000. We were told that we’d be 17 on the list and we’d get it when we get it. After a couple months of zero communication we called to check on the progress. We were told that they can’t find workers and installations are moving very slow. Waited a couple more months before calling again. Still no communication. Again, they were very busy and hopefully would get to us soon. So at the end of July I asked for a refund and cancel the pool. They said “oh no we have an extra crew now and we’ll be there next week I promise”. So the owner personally came out to spray paint our grass where the pool would go, we scheduled 811 and got our pool permit from the city (another $50 fee). By noon on Friday nothing what so ver had happened with a pool installation. When I called and asked why he told me to schedule a city inspection at 1pm Friday if they weren’t going to have it done his reply was “I don’t know why I said that”. So demanding a refund I’m told I can only speak to the owner Brad Chitty for that whom naturally is not in town. So after a good six months, summer is over, the kids never got a pool and now I have to fight for my money back. Save yourself the trouble. Extremely unprofessional, zero communication. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
UPDATE: It is several months after my original review. The day after I posted the review, Brad calls me and says hell deliver it first thing the next day but I need to take down my fence before then. This was something he said he would do when we spoke in the shop. I figured, fine, as long as we can get it delivered. I tried to take down the fence but couldnt finish before I had to leave for work. When I got home, I saw that the tub was there and my fence dismantled. Fortunately my dog still around! Oddly, the tub was oriented so that you would face the wall it was positioned next rather than any of the other three directions that might have been reasonable. When I tried to open it, I found that the cover-lifter was incorrectly installed so that the lid would only open half way. They came back again the next day and fixed both issues. A week later I received a surprise bill charging me $95 to take apart and repair the fence and $95 to install the cover lifter. Odd since the fence hadnt been repaired and there had been no prior mention of a charge to install the lifter. Also, the cover lifter--even after being reinstalled--was assembled incorrectly. The screws on the cross bar are already wearing a hole in the cover 2 months in - the instructions are explicit to be careful about positioning the screws to avoid this. Evidently no one read the installation instructions. I wrote to Brad to discuss the charges but didnt hear back. I followed up and got no reply. Ten weeks later I got an invoice for balance forward. I wrote to again indicate that we needed to discuss the charges. No reply. I finally went into the store. Within minutes Brad was literally yelling at me and bossing me (SIT DOWN! without sitting himself). It was frightening. My hands were shaking. I finally took out my phone and started an audio recording since I wasnt sure what was going to happen. I am glad to share the recording on request. It didnt stop Brad from yelling though he seemed to try to be more careful about what he said. I finally paid some amount they said was the remaining balance simply to never have to deal with them again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Good luck to you.ORIGINAL REVIEW: We purchased a spa from Indiana Pools and Spas this winter. While the gentleman who helped me in the show room was helpful, we have been struggling to make it possible to get the spa delivered for more than two months. Initially the challenge was getting the patio that the spa would sit on installed. There is a guy who contracts with Indiana Pools & Spas (IP&S) but it took weeks to get Brad, the owner of IP&S to gets quotes or make concrete progress. He would said, Yes, Im working on it, I should have that for you next week but when I would follow up a week later Brad would say Im talking to him tomorrow. Evidently working on it meant Ill deal with it next week. And so it went. Once the contractor started the work, he was generally great (he misinterpreted the design in a way that couldnt be fixed but felt really bad about it). He did a beautiful job. Eight weeks later we finally had the place for the spa ready. It has been ready for more than two weeks but we cant get Brad to make the necessary arrangements to deliver the tub. He plays Im too busy to talk to you. Last week I sent two emails and called IP&S several times before I sent a very short email to which he finally responded. His response said next week. The following week, he is back to ignoring emails and phone calls. We still do not have the tub.Unless you have your own delivery people and contractors, avoid purchasing a spa from IP&S. Heaven help you if youre building a whole pool. Given how simple this should have been, I cant imagine what that would be like.
Buyer beware! Indiana Pools and Spas combines technical incompetence with a stunning lack of professionalism. Frankly, I am baffled that this place is still in business.A couple of months ago, I called Indiana Pools and Spas to ask for help with my 2009 Great Lakes Sunlighter hot tub that had worked reliably for years but was now exhibiting water temperature irregularities. Brad came out, ran a couple of tests, told me he couldn’t find anything wrong with the hot tub, and left, asking me to keep them updated on the situation.About a week later, I received a bill in the mail for $139 (“technical service call”). I called them, paid the bill, and explained that the hot tub was still not working. In response to that, I was eventually given a quote for $609.95 for the purchase and installation of a new heat tube assembly. I paid that amount, and eventually Brad came out again and installed the new heat tube. Having paid $609.95 for that job under the presumption that it would fix the problem I was paying them to fix, I was somewhat surprised when Brad told me, immediately upon installation, that if I continued to have temperature problems, it could in fact be the circuit board that is the issue.Sure enough, I continued to have temperature problems. So I called and let them know. In response to that, Brad came out to try something else: reprogramming the topside. (Why didn’t he try that before I spent $609.95 for the new heat tube assembly? Don’t ask…) Reprogramming the topside did not fix the problem. So I called and let them know. They got back to me and said they ordered “the new part”. Wait a minute, I said: I’m not agreeing to this until I know the price. What is the price? The receptionist seemed rather thrown off by this question and said they’d have to check with Brad and get back to me.Awhile later, I received an “estimate” via email (with absolutely no context: it was literally a blank email with an estimate as a pdf attachment, and no follow-up call to confirm that I had even received it). The estimate was: $862.03 for the purchase and installation of a new control unit and a new topside command unit. Coupled with what I’d already paid, that would bring the grand total to $1,610.97—a sizable amount, and still with no guarantee that the problem would actually be fixed. I replied that this was out of my budget and would be in touch again if needed. Brad replied almost instantly: “Thanks!!! Let me know if anything changes on your end.”Well, a few days later, my situation did change: I thought more about everything that had happened. I emailed Brad again, letting him know that I wished he had been upfront about the possibility of the circuit board being the issue to begin with. I calculated that if we had replaced the control unit (which includes the heat tube for this brand) and topside command unit to begin with, my total bill would’ve been $1,171.03 only. And since I had already paid $748.95 ($139 for the initial service call + $609.95 for the heat tube assembly), I was willing to pay the difference ($422.08—though actually I was generous and rounded up to $500.00), if he could fix the hot tub. I emphasized that this hot tub had been purchased from them around 2009 and that we hoped to continue using this company for our hot tub repair needs and eventually a replacement hot tub sometime in the future. I asked if that would be possible. His response? There was none. More than two weeks later, I am still waiting, but I’m not holding my breath. Brad lacked even the basic professional decency to acknowledge receipt of the email, let alone answer the question that it contained. So now I’m out $748.95, my hot tub is no better off than it was to begin with, and they will never see another dime of my money, even if that means paying more elsewhere. Do not let my experience be for naught: Avoid this company like the plague! (Oh, and speaking of plagues: Brad did not wear a mask while interacting with me.)
Helpful, friendly staff. Had exactly what we needed.
A driver for this company just about killed me and my two kids by hitting us head on because he decided to run a red light! Tried to call the company but no answer and no machine to leave a message.
We went in there back in March to schedule getting our pool fixed. They were supposed to come out May 1st. We double checked the week before and they said they’d call. They didn’t. My wife called back several times and each time got a different response from “I’ll check with the owner and call you back” to “I gave the ticket to a guy he should have been out there today”, no calls back and no guy ever showed. Last week they finally told us they don’t know when or if they will come at all! Exceptionally unprofessional and unreliable. We should have been near first in line, but I’m guessing we were too small potatoes to worry about. We went to Grimes and they were much more helpful, much more responsive, and actually did what they said they were going to do the first time. Indiana Pools and Spas won’t ever get any of our business ever again.
Loving our new pool from Indiana Pools and Spas, Brian, Dave, Brad, and Brandon, the whole crew is great and very knowledgeable. They will answer any questions you have and baby step you if need be. Looking forward to doing more business with them in the future, oh and let’s not forget the installation crew, hands down did a great job.
Very knowledgeable and willing to take their time helping customers. Also very reasonably priced.
I would give a zero star if possible 4/2019 we purchased a pool it took till the end of July to get it installed there was no communication and to reach anyone that had any knowledge was impossible when it finally got installed the yard had been completely tore up huge ruts everywhere they didnt put any chemicles or leave any. Being new to a pool I had a swamp in a few days. Finally got someone out to add chemicles and show me what to do to maintain. Then in June the sand filter started dumping sand back into the pool. When I tried to get someone out to fix it they agreed to send someone out if I paid a service fee $200 knowing they needed to determine if it was something I did or faulty equipment I agreed. They sent someone out who turned the pump on said yes your right it is blowing sand but its above our pay grade to open the filter and see why since then I cant get anyone to contact me they wanted another almost $400 for parts and labor to fix it even though they havent opened it to see what is broke. The filter is less than a year old. This is the worst company I have ever worked with I asked for my $200 back said I would find someone else to fix it and no one will return my calls.
Cant say enough good things about them. We live in martinsville and our liner went this year. They got it done today.June 9th Greenwood and Indianapolis were saying mid July Brad is very dedicated and knows pools..
Great value for the price! They had what I needed when nobody else even knew what i was talking about. They listened to my issues and offered the solution (which they happen to have in stock). I appreciate the knowledge, attentiveness, and problem solutions that no other pool and spa were able to offer in Bloomington!
I have never rated a company before but maybe this can save someone the headache we have been through. We called to get our pool heater worked on. They said it would take about a week and that was a month ago. They kept telling us we were on the schedule for that day and then nothing. Then they would say oh sorry he got behind he will get to you today. Still nothing so we call again and then they say we arent even on schedule. How did we go from being on the schedule for that day to not even being on the schedule? Three times since then they said they would be out and no show without even a phone call. They will not return your phone calls and will not answer the phone. Very poor customer service. Do yourself a huge favor and do not use this company. If we would have read the reviews of this company first, we could have saved ourselves a lot of time and stress.
This is chapter one but so far Very disappointed. They didnt come when they said to check things out when they did come they set the tub down and left. Then came back and said what do you want us to do. After 3 days tub still not running. I filled with water my self. No instructions of operation and and really poor communication. We paid cash in full at time of purchase. Never do that. I will keep you posted if things improve Trudy Bastin We are up and running. Thank you
Was helping a friend with pool supplies and Brian was very helpful with getting the parts she needed. He also had helpful ideas for installing these parts that he shared with her.
Competence? 2 Year’s in a row Eagle Bay pool at the Pointe can’t pass state inspections to open on Memorial Day. It ain’t rocket science. Simple chemistry.
Brian diagnosed my motor issues over the phone. Very impressed. They’ll be getting my business for sure.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! I give ZERO STARS!!! Worse experience ever!! Pool walls are leaning, liner caving, pump spitting sand in pool and leaking and my pool is only a month old. They refuse to correct, they lie, they do terrible work and customer service is worse!!! Please do not use this company!!!!!!!
Nice place with awesome spas
Ask for Brian, that guy is very knowledgeable!
