The good- Philip has made 3 pairs of Orthotics for me and I am very pleased with them. They solved a Mortons Neuroma problem which was so bad I was close to having the surgery done. Now 10 years later, I am still doing well. The bad - they dont return phone calls and dont ever seem to be in to pick up the phone.
NRV Orthotics’ customer service is AWFUL!!! As other reviewers have pointed out, they don’t return phone calls. After waiting a week for them to return my phone call, I went by in person. Now talking to them in person, I was told I needed an appointment. (That’s why I had tried to call first!) So a week and a half later I arrive for my appointment. NOW I’m told they need to get approval from my insurance company first. Couldn’t they have gotten my insurance information when I was in their store a week and a half ago? So I’m given ANOTHER appointment, a week and a half later. The morning of that appointment they called me to tell me they still haven’t filed for insurance approval and I’ll need to schedule another appointment. I instead asked that they call me when they have insurance approval, and then we can set up an appointment. TWO MORE WEEKS go by, and I still haven’t heard from them. So I go by the business in person again, only to find a sign on the door that they will be closed for six weeks.I can’t speak to the quality of NRV Orthotics’ work, as I never even had a fitting in SIX WEEKS of waiting! I contacted my doctor for a new prescription, since NRV had my first Rx locked away in a business that was closed for a month and a half. With my replacement prescription in hand, I went to Excel in Radford. There I was given an appointment in two days, went in to have my foot cast, and will have my custom orthotic ready in two weeks.In my opinion, NRV Orthotics should not be in the medical business. Orthotic and prosthetic customers NEED services, as soon as possible. Not in whatever timeframe a business wants to work on. Six weeks with absolutely nothing to show – no insurance approval request, no fitting – is inexcusable. Stay away from this business.
Very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Although, they are difficult to get ahold of and their hours dont seem to always line up with what the answering machine says they are.
