Found this place on Google while looking for haircut places near work since the one I used to use closed up. This one seamed to be the best for a basic haircut. Most of the places Ive seen are over the top with a bar or is the barbershop version of hooters. I dont need all that. I just want a basic haircut and Floyds delivered. Friendly staff who also accepted me even though I arrived 20 minutes late cause I forgot all about the dream cruise and turned right onto Woodward from 15 instead of left and ended up at 16 mile instead of 14 mile. She did not have to take me at a later time and could have made me come back another day. With a hot towel and shoulder massage included in the price I think its a good value. I got the Floyd cut(short). I think I found my new shop. Close to work so its convenient.

My first experience here was back in March and I had a great visit. This visit went just as well. My hairstylist is Kaitlyn, I left her a great survey because she deserved it and Floyds deserved it.

This is one of the edgiest places to get your hair cut. Its a barbershop so they specialize in men but they do have some amazing stylists who know how to cut long hair. Its also an amazing place to work. Love this place!!

A very nice woman came into my shop across the street from you guys today, and told me about this place.I recently just moved here, and needless to say this is my new bi-weekly stop for a hair cut.Beyond happy with the service, hot towels, they wash your hair, even massage your head a bit!I wish I remembered the girls name who helped me, it totally slipped my mind but I know it started with an S.

I was in the area to see a friend and just typed in barbers shop near me. Floyds happened to be the closest. Sandra gave my sons a nice hair cut and ever since, I drive 30mins to this shop biweekly to get my sons hair cut. Good job Sandra, keep it up!!

I love Floyd’s. Come here every few months to get a trim down and a little off the top. Just this experience wasn’t the best. My cut seems like a little bit of an over pay. I just wanted a simple fade of a 1 to a 1.5, and half inch off the top. Was hoping it would be cleaned up more than what it is. Feels unfinished.

This place is very nice! With new Covid-19 protocol the staff is taking the precautions to ensure everyone is kept safe and healthy. This means wearing masks and temperature taking at the door.My barber was John R and he knows what he is doing. He will go out of his way to make sure you are very satisfied with your haircut.Thanks again!

This is the best barber in Southfield, Michigan. It is clean and professional. There is never a wait because they honor your appointment. I love it because it is perfect for small kids. They do not have to sit, wait and become impatient. The other clients are cordial and nice to spend time around.

Good place to get family haircuts for boys, girls, moms, and dads. Long and short hair no problem. Don’t let the music or decor distract you. Everyone is very professional, someone just decided to market the place to look edgy. It’s a good idea to book your haircut in advance through their app, online, or just call. It seems like you can get an appointment one or two days out without a problem, but they can get busy with added walk-ins.

Floyds always gives me a great cut, beard trim or straight razor shave. Ive been going there for years and never had a bad cut, sometimes the wait is a little long but that comes with quality. Call ahead or book online to avoid the lines, and check them out during the holidays as they always have great deals on hair product then.

I have short hair and have had terrible experiences in the past with new people cutting my hair and giving me a very masculine cut rather than a cute pixie. My boyfriend gets his hair cut here and told me to try it out, but I was a bit nervous due to past experiences elsewhere.Kaitlyn cut my hair beautifully! She was very sweet and great to talk to. She listened to what I wanted and ask if I liked what she was doing, while she was doing it. She did exactly what I needed and I loved it.

This was our first time here and I cant stress enough how happy I am with my sons haircut! He has very thick hair{a lot of it, too} and 2 bad cowlicks, so his hair is difficult to cut. Unfortunately, I dont remember the womans name who cut his hair, but she is fantastic! I explained how my sons hair looks if its cut too short and showed her pictures of what I wanted and what I didnt. She perfected it! She even called it, sculpting, not cutting. We will definitely be back!

Diane is one of the best hair stylists there, she cares about what you want and will give great advice. She does really great undercuts and spiked haircuts for men! Won’t go to another place after this barbershop.

The atmosphere in this place is great. Everyone in here is very nice. Having said that, Ive gotten my hair cut here a couple of times and havent been overly impressed. My hair is not difficult to cut and Ive been simply satisfied with the outcome. For the price, I think there are better options out there to get a simple barber cut. If I had more styling needed, Im sure this place would suit me better.

I was referred to Floyds 99 Barbershop by a friend and took her advice and checked it out today. I scheduled an appointment with Lindsay, who my friend also suggested. Lindsay was very personable and friendly throughout the entire visit. I wanted to fade the sides but let her be creative with the hair on top. She did an amazing job and I was so happy with the outcome. Can not say enough good things about the experience.Ive been to many barbershops throughout my life, none quite match this place. I am very glad I gave this place a shot, will be back and highly recommend.

Had to share this. The availability online to book appointments with specific barbers at a specific time is one of the reasons I went back to this place, along with a great cut last time. But, when making an appointment, you expect to be in and out at a certain time, baby sitters, work schedule, whatever.. Time is important.. I understand stuff happens, and someone gets caught in traffic and is late. 1clock appointment . I was 10 minutes early, and was told the person who I specifically made an appointment with at 1 because I liked her work last time, was running late. 1:05, 1:10, 1:12, 1:15 and not another word was said to me. Wouldnt your receptionist be trained to check in and apologize? Maybe update you?? Manager? offer a discount or a free service next time for my inconvenience? waiting over 15 minutes?? Anything?? nope not even would you like a coffee or water. Hope I dont sound needy. Am I asking for too much?? But I believe service needs to be handled much better, and situations like this taken care of more respectfully. I had a schedule I had to stick to.

8:49 pm on a Friday, Amanda had a great attitude about cutting hair for a walk-in that had been strolling by. The cut and style was excellent. First timers get a shampoo. A straight razor clean up of the neck is rare these days and can really clean up edge lines. A hot towel and shoulder massage were bonuses to a great new look. I vote this shop BEST in the Detroit area for service and value.

Two separate dudes gave me compliments on my hair last night. Wouldve been better if they were girls but hey Ill true the compliment. Top notch cut!!! Why cant I rate 6 stars??!?

First time, Im in remission from cancer and my hair was very new and it was out grown and it needed to be cut and I chose this place, I have friends that come here and reasonable price and great I really like my hair stylist Vicky well I was waiting there there was two stylist cutting childrens hair also and they did its darn good job cuz I got to view it before it was my time to get my haircut. I would suggest this place family friendly and also for singles doesnt matter what age you are

After calling ahead of time to confirm an appointment, I had arrived 5 minuets early and I checked in, I was asked to sit for 20 minutes which was not the bad part, the worst part was that I had expressed I was on a time crunch and made the necessary preparations before hand so the stylists knew After the 20 minutes of sitting and allowing walk-ins to go ahead of me, I had to leave with no apology or attempt to resolve the matter and thoroughly wasted my time. The prices and awful receptionist are reason enough not to go here. They have permanently lost my business and I will never go here again.

Great place to get a haircut. I would recommend a reservation as this place is busy after work and on the weekend. Good news is you can make a reservation through their app or online. Try Danile K, she is the best.

I have an extremely upset kid after todays hair cut. I told Maureen he wanted a mullet, he said he would tell her how he wanted it. So, he told Maureen shaved sides, scissors on top, and leave the back long. Hes been growing his hair for a long time for this cut for middle school graduation. I left them alone because he is 14 and I wanted to give him his independence. He walked out with a little boy cut, the back of his hair COMPLETELY GONE. The shop didnt charge us for the cut, but there is no amount of money that can fix it. Kids are people too, as a matter of fact, they are the future of your business.

Ive never reviewed anything before, but the experience I just had with Selam, at Floyds in Birmingham, has compelled me. Shes wonderful. Ive gone to Floyds for years and worked with multiple stylists. Selam gave me such a relaxing experience and best of all, allowed me to have 20 minutes of calming silence. It wasnt awkward in any way. I didnt have to feign interest in any stories, nor did I feel obligated to think of stupid anecdotes. She went about her work and I got to relax, for once. Also, best haircut Ive ever had from there. Good work, Floyds. I highly recommend Selam!

I’m new in town and picky about my hair, so I tried this place out. I needed a pretty difficult cut. I went from a full mane of hair to a short fade. Kaitlyn absolutely CRUSHED it; she was patient, didn’t mind the extra time that it took, and was super friendly with recommendations/things to do around the city. This will be my new spot for a cut and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone, guy or girl.

Charged my wife for 2 adult hair cuts for my 11 year old and 14 year old teen age son needless to say she was not pleased in the slightest

I found Ray by chance and make it a point to only go in when hes working. He has educated me on what styles work with my hair and has a fantastic eye for detail. If you want a barber that will make you feel great while you are in his chair, ask for Ray!

My friend Vickie works there, awesome atmosphere inside the store reasonable pricesand a short time wait I suggest that you dont come here and get your hair done and your mens hair done because they do in exceptional job on mens hairother than they want it cut short or trim they also can put letters to represent like NBA or lions in the hair of the mens back of the head of the scalp pretty cool my friend Vicki is license to do that

Tried them twice both times were bad. The first time we got both boys haircuts and they were horrible. My youngest looked like Jim Carey in dumb and dumber. The other one had a shave with uneven lines. We tried again today. When we arrived the stylist was still finishing up someone else. When that person left she didnt say one thing to us and disappeared for another 18 minutes, which I can only assume to smoke. No one said anything to us even when we walked out 1/2 hour after our appointment without a haircut. Very disappointing again.

My regular gal at another barbershop went on maternity leave, so I wandered in here and waited to get my haircut by a random. I ended up with Paige A. and she did a really amazing job!She knows how to fade like its nobody elses business, and her attention to detail when lining up my beard rivaled many of the guys Ive been to over the years. Shes Italian, so she knows how to deal with my type of hair up top when it came time to put the clippers away.Ive been to see her twice so far and will definitely do so for as long as shes around. 5 Stars for her expertise and professionalism!The minus 1 star is for Floyds only allowing appointments a week in advance. If I find someone I like, I want to be able to schedule my appointments out for the next few months.Other than that, its a family friendly atmosphere, amazing haircut by Paige A., and clean environment so I guess Ill just call in every couple weeks to check availability.

Good for certain cuts and depends who you get. If you go in wanting a layered scissor cut, youll likely come out electrically buzzed by default setting. Not cool in that way.

My favorite place to get a haircut. When I moved from Chicago to Detroit, I was thrilled to find a Floyds just a few blocks from my new office. The atmosphere is uber cool - think rock and roll, tattood hairstylists, etc. Prices for mens cuts range in the $15-20 range, but I usually tack on a shampoo for $4-5 more (definitely worth it!) The staff is very friendly, and they do great work. Between Chicago and Detroit, Ive been a happy Floyds customer for 6+ years!

I just made a post on yelp if you would like to see pictures because I dont know how to post them on here. I took my son in Friday night at 8oclock and had a female barber. She completely hacked my sons hair. From the line at the top of his head to the ears to the whole entire cut. I didnt fully realize how bad it was until we got home. I never made reviews but I cant even believe how bad this woman messed up his cut. I will never ever ever come back here.

Called twice to make an appointment but no one answered. I walked in an hour and a half before closing time and was told it was an hour wait. There was one person waiting and 5-6 employees. Recommend making an appointment online to limit apathetic human interaction.
