Since I became a regular patron of this establishment in 2019, the businesss current owner, Mr. Dan Sartain, has always provided me top-tier service for a fantastic value. Situated inside an early Twentieth Century brick edifice with an ornately decorated window matching its red, white, and blue barber’s pole, Dan Sartain’s Barber Shop harkens back to Woodlawn’s founding and has been a fixture of the community since 1904, when the space was first occupied as a single-chair, 12’ x 22’ establishment. Mr. Sartain seized the reins of this establishment in 2019, and he has since continued the tradition of cultivating conversation, community, friendship, and mutual understanding while wielding a pair of scissors that that this barber shop has symbolized for over a century.

Came in last minute, Dan let me in and gave me a great haircut. Thanks Dan!

Vincent sadly passed away last year, and the Hippodrome is closed. He not only gave the best haircuts Ive ever had, but was one of the kindest and friendliest people you could ever meet, and a great friend to so many of his customers. He is very much missed.

Dan Sartain and 87 yo and lifelong barber Mr Genry have reopened as Genrys Barber Shop keeping the spirit of their namesake predecessor, Vincent Oliver. Great haircut, vintage vibe, old school and good folks. Recommended

Vince is a fantastic barber from the classic tradition, a master stylist with a vintage technique. Had a great experience with him and will definitely be coming back.
