Very caring staff. Helped me a lot. Talked gently and helped calm me down. The schedule needs to be redone, ASAP! Was told the person who did it quit a year ago. Had everyone confused and anxious about what is going to happen next. We needed structure and stability, not confusion and uncertainty. The staff really wanted to take us outside but scheduling conflicts with other units made it difficult. You could tell they were upset. Food and snacks were good. Get the scheduling fixed and I would recommend this place to anyone who needs help. Brian constantly went the extra mile, A+ worker!

I’ve never heard of this place before a few days ago when my husband’s who’s a Veteran was admitted there by the VA well we haven’t spoken besides once and he was so overly medicated it was honestly concerning.. I have a voice mail and on my phone that was accidentally caught their phones have NOT been working so every time my husband calls I answer and it just starts doing random stuff well I guess this time the phone wasn’t hung up properly so I got the staff being very ugly to a patient when it was uncalled for… I still have no clue to what’s going on with my husband I’m sure he’s just as nerves wrecked as I am.. I’ll be at the hospital in the morning to speak with someone I want to know what’s going on and if his okay!

I went to oceans in late january of 2021 and was released after 5 days. it took me a long time to find a psychiatrist in my hometown due to high demand, which is fine bc oceans gave me a refill on the new meds they prescribed me. soon enough i ran out of the refills with my psychiatry appointment still 2 weeks away. i was told to call oceans to ask for a 2 week refill of my medicine (mood stabilizers + antidepressant - pretty important meds). i called 5 days in a row and all i got was “we’ll call you back” or “let me see what i can do.” i have been without my meds for almost the full 2 weeks now and i feel god awful. angry, upset, fragile. they would NOT help me with this. i am beyond upset that oceans never ever helped me with this. do not go here, please. staff is unprofessional and rude and patients are herded together and talked down to daily. they don’t REALLY care about your mental health, it’s all just an act.

I just got out of oceans and it was terrible a girl was molested by another patient and the only thing done was they separated genders a little more. my life and 3 others were threatened by 2 patients and nothing was done about it they told us we need to learn how to cope with that and they weren’t changing the roomates. our call time is only 6 minutes not 10 they make us go to bed earlier then we have to. very rude with the way they speak. group is no help at all it’s normally card games or movies. the food is indescribably terrible the nurses when you go to get your meds don’t listen to you. they don’t provide 1on1 therapy. i was there for 6 days and talked to each person once. there are cameras in the bathrooms. and the provided shampoo is terrible. honestly i was barely helped by visiting this facility.

Before arriving to this facility, I knew nothing of its reviews or history. It was recommended by Memorial Hospital ER staff. I was just discharged on AMA after spending 6 days following voluntary commitment due to not receiving appropriate therapeutic care, not being communicated my treatment plan or post discharge care plan and their refusal to allow me access to appropriate OBGYN care for pregnancy related concern. This facility has four wings. Two for adults and two for adolescents. Those are divided by violent and nonviolent. Every wing is handled by different staff with different rules, schedules and regulations. I was on the nonviolent adults wing. It was apparent in my time there that many of the staff genuinely love their jobs and they love helping people in crisis, however it is even more clear the facility is under staffed and under equipped to handle the volume of patients they choose to take in. I witnessed daily that patients are not informed of their rights and are never given clear answers to any serious questions they ask staff. Answers are always “I don’t know”, “Let me go see”- with no follow up, and so on. There was ZERO communication of inpatient treatment plans or discharge timelines to the roughly 10-15 other patients I spoke with who came and went during those 6 days. They have a printed daily schedule but never follow it and only do half of it due to lack of trained staff. They have group therapy, but they do not give coping mechanisms for post discharge. They do not allow one on one therapy, as it is “unethical to unload serious baggage during inpatient care” stated by Mr Matthew who is the Departmental Lead Nurse. I had the privilege of running into Mr Cliff who I understand to be one of the head admin for the facility. When addressing the specific issues I was witnessing, he dismissed me as “aggressive” and “trying to be a spokesperson for everyone”. He thankfully changed his tune when other patients spoke up after hearing his invalidating comments, but it just goes to show how he doesn’t take patient concerns seriously. I was thankful to later speak with Mrs Michelle who was acting as Patient Advocate (after I raised quite an alarm after being told this facility had NO patient advocates) and was pleasantly surprised to find she was very open to hearing my concerns. She seemed to understand where the inconsistencies were and concerns were that were obviously very damaging to patients and I sincerely hope our conversation brings about serious change. With all that being said, I do not recommend anyone use this facility for any reason until they get adequate staffing, training and resources for their wonderful staff. I strongly suggest you directly call their parent hospital in Plano, TX to ask if the listed concerns from this review were fixed because I promise you, if the responsibility for change lies with someone like Mr Cliff, this facility is doomed to constantly fail and scar their patients.

I have never experienced such indifference from a provider. To the one who refused to do a preauthorization on my loved ones medication - she is now in another hospital. Sending her to you only made her worse.

Recently got out of inpatient and was completely compliant my entire stay. The tech staff is excellent and the social workers are absolutely amazing. However, while I was there I really got an insight on how horrible things are for the mentally ill. The nurses and staff laughing at patients who are there to seek help is absolutely DISGUSTING. Nurse practitioner Ms. Jennifer was so nice and helpful, I think she helped me most. If you want to be treated like a number and have staff hand out medicine they dont know anything about. Chemical reactions? Half life? They barely think the mentally ill are capable of running their own life and Im glad I understood that they wouldnt answer questions if it didnt fit in their time sheet. Please give Mr. Bryan (tech) a raise because their arent many good men in the system left. You should be ashamed for making jokes. I took this to my national survey of the USA Department of Health and Human Services and honestly I really hope it makes you sit and think about yourself. Prison with Padding seems fitting.

Even prisoners go outside everyday and have access to telephones all the time. Theres a small window of time the patients can call you. But they all have to share the 1 line. Ive been to places like these b4 that were pleasant and allowed you the freedom to be an adult and treated you as such. You cant even privately visit with a patient. And the whole time your there your not allowed to show affection or they shame you. As if love and support were an unhealthy thing. Like I said, prisoners are treated better. Just didnt seem like a caring place

This place was and is a joke. I called at 5pm and was told someone would be calling me back within the next few mins. 2 hours later without a phone call back, I drive down there just for the lady to keep me outside and would not let me step foot in the building until I gave her some kind of explanation on why I needed to speak with someone. My fiancé went to grab my id just in case if needed and she’s questioning me very rudely on why I had all this paperwork in my hands. I never ever get rude with anyone and I’m a very patient person but I done had it with this lady. Was there for literally 10 mins for her to tell me they don’t deal with Behavior when they are a BEHAVIORal hospital. And as it was all said and done with NO help, she sat there waiting over us until we showed ourselves out. Needless to say, I got no help from anyone there when I was seeking some kind of help for my loved one that was with me. I don’t see how they are still up and running.

Staff is very rude. I cant get a straight answer for when phone calls are allowed. So I call at the times they say, only to be told its not the correct time. Nurse has a bad attitude towards me when Im simply trying to speak with a customer whos asking for me. Emotionally distressed. Isnt these types of things what this hospital is supposed to care for and want to mend? Shame on yall.
