I called and asked if he could come to my home, file taxes, and have a financial consultation, short term investments, etc. I was told “of course”. None of these occurred! I was taken aback when first he did not give me a business card. Then I took him down to my office to copy the tax papers, which he did not. He now has my only copies! I was thrown off my his total lack of attention (I felt like I needed to wave).The only other information he gave me was to one other filing question. No financial advice. He was in a hurry to leave. He was indifferent, unprofessional, uninterested, and inattentive. I received another tax document on Friday and have called 5 times since. No one has had the courtesy to call back. He misunderstood me greatly. Whatever was going on, he was not a good fit for me. I am used to far more Personalized attention. Not the contrary.*I finally spoke with someone, 7 calls later and will pick up my documents.

We used the services of Paul Sullivan (Maryland Reg # 5685) to prepare our 2017 state and federal taxes. We informed him that we were exempt from paying federal taxes according to the tax treaty between our country and the USA both at the moment of the interview and afterward. At the moment of the interview, in 2018, Mr. Sullivan told us that we were not subject to the tax treaty even if we took our fellowship award with us and he examined such documentation. When we asked again in writing about the subject in June 2018 we received a written response from you insisting that we were not subject to the tax treaty.When we insisted on his error he finally accepted that our tax return was filed incorrectly and asked us to pay an extra fee to amend our tax returns. We meet with him in person and he agreed to amend the return, but he did it incorrectly on two occasions, after what he rejected to correct the errors in the amended tax returns that he prepared unless we paid an extra fee.In our opinion, the behavior of Mr. Paul Sullivan was neither professional nor ethical since he was not aware of the tax regulations appropriate to our case and tried to charge us extra fees to correct his errors in our 2017 tax preparation and subsequent amendments.

Please use this anecdote as a data point. I just do not want anyone else to be treated the way my wife and I have been treated by this firm. I cannot recommend using this accounting firm.I have been waiting on my taxes to be completed for over two months (Submitted in the middle of March). I know that I owed taxes, which meant I would be accruing interest this entire time. Instead of expediting the process, the tax return was further delayed. Communication from and to the accountant was horrible. It literally took my wife to go to the office to actually get our taxes completed. We did not receive a completed version until the middle of May (at least one month after taxes were due).When they were finally completed, we reviewed them and they were not correct. There was a miss on one of the state taxes which I noted and asked to be corrected. When I asked for the discrepancy to be corrected, the Staff Accountant working my file said she would fix it. Three days later, I received another bill from them stating that I would owe them more money or they would not release my corrected tax returns, essentially holding my wife and I hostage.I am now in a jam where they refuse to provide the corrected tax returns and I cant submit the prior tax returns because of the error. The management team refuses to take my calls and refuses to release the corrected returns.I know I will never use this firm again and I will provide a negative recommendation for anyone considering using them.Also - they are very expensive, so please really consider using someone else.

When we began, Sullivan successfully re-filed for over-payments in two previous tax returns (2010 and 2011) for mistakes I had made a single tax payer. I had a poor experience with this company. They promised to provide full accounting services for a year, but once they had my money they did nothing more than prepare my tax return - and they even managed to misfile using the wrong social security number. They didnt even respond to my complaint - terrible customer service.Update: I finally received a response to my email complaint, but only after I had posted this review. However the response was totally unsatisfactory. My client agreement required this company to provide tax advice for one year - instead they charged me $1270 to file a very simple tax return. After filing my tax return incorrectly I didnt hear from them again. Had I not posted this review they would have probably ignored my emails and calls.
