I took a poorly hemmed bridesmaid dress here for an emergency fix three days before the wedding and they did the job quickly and beautifully and for a reasonable price. Very happy with the result and will be back!
Ive been taking clothes for cleaning and tailoring to Baks for years. They usually do an excellent job. Whenever Ive had any slight problem with their work, they have been very responsive and have corrected it. I appreciate their warmth and friendliness!
Finally - a quality dry cleaner in Bethesda! I have tried almost every other Bethesda dry cleaner but Baks is the very best. In the 3 years that I have been going, they have been able to remove EVERY spot and have treated my expensive clothes with care. Their prices are comparable to the mid-priced cleaners in downtown Bethesda. The mother-daughter service is kind and there is metered parking right in front.
Horrible experience. I have a $35 and wanted an estimate on what it would cost to get it taken in a little. She wanted to charge me $45! I didnt want to pay more than I paid for the dress, so I told her I would think about it.She didnt want to lose the business so she went down to $35, which I appreciate. When I picked it up though, it was still too big. Thats the cut of the dress she told me after I said I thought it was too big still. But I went home and showed it to some people, and they all agreed that she didnt take it in enough. So since I knew it wasnt just me being picky - I brought it back. Everything seemed to be going fine, but then I saw her write $40 on a piece of paper. I asked her wait, I was just in here the other day and paid to get this tailored - are you charging me again? She tried to tell me that this was a different area of the dress, so it will cost more! I was really polite, because thats how I am, and I told her that it wasnt a different part of the dress, it was the same part that she hadnt take in enough, but she wouldnt budge.SO - now I have a dress that still doesnt fit me that I paid for them to tailor. Thanks for nothing Custom Tailors!
Well, this is a 3 star shop but they did get me a tux when I waited until the day before a wedding to look for one. Small place, language barriors but generally good folks. Try your tux on BEFORE you leave the shop. She had to refit me on the spot. Also, the shoe selection is slim AF hahaha so better buy your own shoes. 180 is what I paid for the entire fit. Had it for 3days.
DO NOT GO HERE - FRAUDULENT PRICINGI had pants hemmed here before for $18. It was pricy as other shops in area charge $10-14, but they did a good job.I had a cheap sundress and a pair of PJ bottoms to be hemmed 2”. I’m assuming worst case $30-35. I should have asked for a quote.I go to pick up and lady says it is $59!!!!!!!!!!!Google “cost to hem pants” and all places say $10-14 unless lined. These were cotton PJ bottoms. She said they were tricky and $24.Google “cost to hem cotton dress” and all places say $10-18. She was charging me $25.I refused to pay and I left my clothes there. The cost they were charging me to hem was greater than the price I paid for these on sale items. Then similar to what reviewer said below they start haggling. “How about one time discount $54? How much cash do you have in your wallet?”Do not go here unless you get a quote before agreeing to work. $59 for hemming PJ bottoms and a $20 Athleta sundress?!?!?!?!SEE RESPONSE BELOW:$39 for taking 2” off a flimsy Athleta dress. BE CAREFUL OF THIS STORE AS NO PRICING LIST AND PROFILE TO CHARGE WHAT THINK YOU CAN PAY. ASK FOR FIRM QUOTE WRITTEN DOWN.If an Athleta dress is complex to chop off 2”, how are they going to tailor a suit or evening gown? 🤔
Needed to get my leather hat repaired. The price was very fair. Very friendly people would recommend them.
There are lots of dry cleaners around, but the ladies who run this store are always friendly and happy to see you. Makes a big difference! :-)
Hands down the best tailor in Bethesda.
