The mecca of everything typewriter. A beautiful business which I hope lasts for generations to come.
Theyre out of business. I shipped my typewriter there early in 2020. I finally got ahold of Carmen, one of the owners 2 daughters. I chased her for a couple months until she finally dropped it off at Berkeley Typewriter. Hopefully Ill have better luck there.
Love the personalities... of each type of writer.
Hello I havent been to your location I did however watch your documentary and I am impressed and amazed!!! If I ever get to the west coast your establishment will be on the top of my list to visit and purchase!!!!
Im from Rochester NY. I just heard about your store and i AM amased! Im 58 Yeats old and i love typewriter s. They should kept on doing them. Congratulation . I die for one . More should do what you do! Godbless your work.
What a jewel of a repair shop!! I came in for a ribbon change, and walked out having learned much more about my Hermes.Show these people love by tipping them well (!!) we want this business to be around for many years to come.
Fixed up a Smith Corona I found. Pretty nifty experience after not using a typewriter for many years. Theyre heros for keeping cool machinery going for another generation.
Watch the documentary by the same name then visit this spot. It’s a family run joint and there’s a ton of love and know how that goes into their work. Follow them on IG to find out what’s happening in their shop.
TBD I believe Dust segment played your documentary, it did wonders for my already existing fascination for typewriters. Look forward to seeing your shop in real life.
Love the people who work there and every single detail of the shop. Authentic!
Doing impactful work for not only the community, but towards enriching the human condition. Viva la Plenum.
I recently purchased an old Underwood typewriter and brought it to California Typewriter to see if they could show me how to use it. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. They put a new ribbon on for me and showed me all the different operations my model has. Ill be going there again in the future.
One of the only places for typewriters and repairs. Old school unrenovated space is part of the charm. Theyve got a range of typewriters for sale, all refurbished and or serviced. If youre looking for a typewriter, have questions about them or need service for yours, this is the place to go in the bay area.
Yesterday, I saw this documentary named California Typewriter.. immersive and provoking into deepest aspects of my existence. I say Herb was about to switch off the work but instead he shook hands with tech to bloom what was getting shrinking up and Hats off to all beautiful people out there for their soul are still submerged in the beauty of earlier twenties machines. I would love to visit this amazing store someday. Please keep up the great work.. The Typewriter never gave up on you.. and I feel you should not too..Lots of Love from India.. 🙏🙂Namaste(Dr.) Harshit Joshi
