Sunday’s are the days to come. The arena itself is definitely outdated and could use some fixing up. The horses are ever so gorgeous and I was happy to see that they only had to race one time around the track. Thank God...I despise racing due to the inhuman nature of the sport as well as what they do to the horses once they are retired.I was able to make a bet on horse number 7 who in my opinion looked the healthiest. Not only do the horses get treated with special “diets” aka small food portions but also do the riders. 7 looked well fed and much healthier than the others (I hope they keep him that way). He won the race which made my day.I pray all of these horses find good homes after their racing career is over!
Big mistake doing away with Sunday dollar days. $10 parking? RUFKM? Spent $28.50 before placing a bet. Sure, its pretty, fun to see the bangtails live, but -- you, you in corporate -- realize I can do this on my phone for zero upfront costs? Place bets, I mean. The ten back parking is the worst. Youre losing me....
Had a great day at the races. You have to make reservations for tickets. No walk ups. No valet parking or Turf Club. All seating is outside either single seats or in a box. Not a lot of windows open to bet. They have a betting app but I didnt use. The food order app was great. Food/drinks brought to your seat. Very limited selection but what we had was good and delivered fast. Please tip the workers. Everyone was doing a good job amid all the restrictions.
I first went to Golden gate Fields 70 years ago. I was eight years old.seen the great Citation run there Silky Sullivan. Tellys Pop.great memories.
Lets get back to being America people. Love life and go to the horse races, on a beautiful weekend, on the most spectacular bay in the world - the views are incredible. People watching megaspot, impress your friends and family with a day not forgotten. Dont forget to bet, only whats comfortable for you, it makes it that much more fun. Dont forget the children!
Easy to find parking but on dollar day its pretty hard to figure out where general parking is. They dont have many signs out so youll probably end up going to the valet parking area which costs $12 even on dollar day. Overall a nice area with great views all around. Lots of smoking and drinking though so be weary of taking children.
We had our end of the year party here! Large group of approx. 20 people. All you can eat buffet with great prime rib. We had a blast raffling off items, betting on races and eating! They named a race after the company and let the entire team take a photo with the winning jockey of the 5th race! Great experience with Bernie as our host. She was very nice and attentive - shot out to her and her team for taking care of the StarCare team! Definitely recommend the Golden Gate Fields for parties/events.
Beautifully kept place, the landscaping is wonderful, the paddocks are clean & organized. The grandstand is a bit unorganized. Many of the luxury boxes were missing chairs. Theres several laser-printer signs taped to polls stating which section of box seats were reserved seating; Tacky. Numbers for the reserved boxes are cracked and/or peeled away. The general population area was actually kept cleaner than the clubhouse. I found the bathrooms downstairs to be nicer than the ones upstairs. It also didnt make much sense that several restaurants were closed on a Saturday. The staff all seem very friendly & helpful!Always bring a jacket because as the sun starts to set, the breeze directly off of the SF Bay gets horribly strong & chilly. Check ahead to see if any fog is expected because, when it does, you wont be able to see who won.
Went there for the first time last weekend. It was fun. Stayed there for about 10 races. Picked a few winners and came out ahead. Food was good too.
Great place to get live racing and sunshine. Glad theyre open again.
Still not completely open pre plandemic
Well worth the $15 COVID surcharge. No RSVP needed nor vallet. Managed to hit a daily double & left with more money. Of course I returned my earned winnings to the exquisite kitchen for a delectable supper; topped the day off with a top-shelf cocktail & bubbly well pop.
My first time going to Dollar days at GGF. It was really fun and I enjoyed it a bunch. I liked being able to spend money on the races, as opposed to spending it in food, drinks, and parking. Great spot to get dressed up and go for a date. The staff are helpful with newcomers to horse racing like myself.
Had a great day with the family.
I had low expectations (it was my first time attending horse racing), but it was a good time.A few friends and I went on a dollar day. The beer was watery and the hot dogs were pretty bland, so you get what you pay for, but it was alright. Made it easy to feel like you could have a fun, cheap day of gambling in the sun.(Oh, and parking and entry were only a dollar too which was great)
Great job City of Berkeley for organizing a well run vaccination site in Golden Gate Fields parking lot. Thank you Golden Gate Fields for giving this space for the vacinations. So many people now have protection from being hospitalized.
Took my mom there to get her covid vaccine. This site is run by Curative and everything ran smoothly. Very happy mom had her two shots.
Attended a holiday luncheon with my co-workers here and I was amazed at how neat a racetrack can be. We were warmly welcomed by staff. Parking attendants were very polite and helpful. The waiters and food servers at the Turf Club were were hospitable, amiable, and attended to us very well. The food at the buffet was awesome. I had a fun day even though I dont even bet on horseracing.
Been around the track since grammar school the good old days when the track packed in thousands and the Albany/Berkeley police had to direct traffic when the races where over, the turf club when you did not get in without slacks+jacket,no jeans, though they always had jackets you could borrow, when they actually had a full line of mutual clerks to make your bets! Now its comparatively a whole other world, I wonder why they dont make the turf club a restaurant and dance club in the evening as it has stunning views(that are now covered) and why not get a shuttle from San Fran or Tiburon, you would get more patrons and they wouldnt have to drive.
Most good options still closed due to covid
I go to the beach here, love it
Where the bay comes to play! It has a plush Turf Club, where the dress code is enforced. It is all you can eat buffet and also on the holidays all-u-can-eat. And dollar days are hit with the giveaways. Open mostly regularly Thursday through Sunday plenty of parking and the Billion-dollar scenery View!
Im very thankful for all that are working with the vaccination. They were friendly and helpful. Everything ran smooth. Thank you all.
Great Fun!We spent a Sunday afternoon at Golden Gate Fields. It was a great way to enjoy the beautiful weather. We were fortunate its a Sunday as many things go for a dollar, including:- The Program- Beer- Mimosa (sometimes they allow you to get sparkling wine)- Hot DogsFor those who dont just want hotdogs, there are other food options. We were happy with the hotdogs and had several. Theres also a souvenir store for those who want to get items with equestrian association.Horseracing bets start small. I believe most people bet to make watching the races more interesting. A worthwhile outing for Sundays.
I took my vaccines there, employees very friendly and helpful.
Great place to get drive-thru vaccinated. 😃
Lower deck wasnt open had to preorder ticket n had to order food through a app online but was delivered to your spot
Really great to be back, online ordering was flawless and quick
Came covid-vulnerable, left vaxxed. Enough said. Thank you science!
The Turf Club food was expensive and not good.
Amazing place to be.
Would give 0 stars if I could. Your entertainment is not worth the cruelty
Fun day at the races..I was a bit disappointed though. The Turf club stated a dress code and I saw a great many people not adhering to it. The food was buffet style which is fine but the selection was limited and the price of $42 dollars was too much for the limited selection...on top of the 15dollars just to get in. I would have given it only 1 star but the staff was very attentive and therefore I gave it three. GG fields really needs to step up their game if they are gonna charge those kind of prices.
Great food festival
A good place to watch horses die.
Fun time betting on the horses!!
Perfect views of the Bay!
Went here for the Asian Food Market. Great views of the city.
$1 Sundays!!!! PBR, Budweiser, hot dogs, and mimosas. I believe there were horses too.
Old school horse racing Sunday dollar days are the best dollar mimosas too heavy on the orange juice but dollar Beers & hot dogs cant be beat ...Super Fun for all ages
This is a great day to spend out and about.
This track has to be a very beautiful track indeed and I can see the history behind this track just looking at her in her glory. Main thing I love about this track is that its one of the only places that does Turf racing besides Santa Rosa which I enjoy watching Turf racing. Not to mention is that you got a pretty good deal with the Dollar Day stuff I think .
Winning never gets old 😂
Did foodieland night market had a great time only one problem the wind other than that it was a blast
This was a present to me - a trip to the racetrack, and I love everything about it! The racetrack itself had a beautiful setting with a gorgeous view of the water,. accompanied by swooping seagulls. The horses were beautiful ❤️, and everyone working there was very friendly and courteous.
Excellent organization of this vaccination site!
Had a great time!
Best place to visit. Bring your whole family and have best time ever.
Lexus Performance Event was awesome!!
Love this place! So much fun even if only spend a few bucks or go with friends and just watch! Went on $1 Sunday recently, spent $20 all together over a few hours and won $15! Worst case scenario, spent $20 for 2 people, both got tipsy/ate and entertained for a few hours. Where can you go nowadays and have tons of fun, excitement/action/entertainment, drink and eat for only $5 BUCKS? BETTING CAN START AS LOW AS $0.50 which allows us to have a ton of fun, all day, without breaking the bank. Winning is winning, no matter how small, it still puts a smile on my face. 3 games at a bowling alley cost $40 plus drinks/food. Totally worth it! Anytime Ive gone - I break even, win a bit or lose very little! Never have I ever spent $40, even when Ive gone all day and have walked out a couple times with over $200 in winnings $3-10 bets! Definitely recommend checking it out! Enjoy!
Awesome place, great service
This was a lot of fun. We were able to make the last $1 Sunday race and my kids loved seeing the horses. So happy i got to cross something off my bucket list.
Great for the fans
I went here to get a covid shot
What to like Sunday at Golden Gate Fields just about everything. They have a shuttle from Bart to the track Admission, bet, beer, mimosas, hot dogs all a buck on Select Sundays. The view is real nice of the track and fountain. Little older of a facility but we had an awesome time cant wait to return
$1 sundays are so much fun!
Two of my relatives own and train horses here it was my first time there and I loved it
Super fun on dollar Sundays! Buy a $1 program to see the horses for each race. Then you can bet on the horse you think will win, the horses you think will place at all, etc. How much money you win depends on the type of bet you place, and the odds for that horse. Good luck!
Dollar days simply the Best
Not bad
Great outing$
Family fun.
Great to have this track still here in the Bay Area!
The people watching, a community coming together to cheer on unknown horses and faceless jockeys each race in almost orgiastic fervor...whats not to like?As an equestrian, I feel race horses should be more physically mature and thereby cutting down trauma...But, damn...its excitement!
Fun place and awesome racehorses
My friends and I decided to experience something new. We are big sports fans, but had never watched live horse racing. So, on a Sunday, we went to Golden Gate Fields for $1 entrance, beers, and hot dogs. We had a blast, shared in a new activity, enjoyed a great view of the Bay Area, and all spent less than $20 per person for a fun afternoon. I would highly recommend spending an afternoon at Golden Gate Fields for an affordable and exciting time.ALL-STAR PRICE: $1 entrance, beers, and hot dogs.
At the risk of making a political statement, I dont condone horse racing and actually came here for a footage, so this review pertains only to the exterior grounds.the track itself is immaculately maintained, the spectator seats less so but still clean. the parking lot looks like it got lost in a 1965 time capsule, and be prepared to wait on race day if youve never been here: its a bottleneck getting off the 80 or even Buchanan Avenue.the nearby Albany trailhead leads to some good hiking and running trails, and sundown offer excellent views of the Berkeley hills and possibly the best view of SF. I was there at night so no picks. sorry folks.
The jew
This was our second time to the racetrack, for my husbands Christmas company party. Even with this busy as it is, they do a good job of keeping bathrooms clean and the Buffet full. The food is fairly good and the service is friendly. Not much more you can ask for.The are a lot of fun, the tellers are very friendly and will explain to you how to place your bets if you have never bet on horses before.10/10 would come back
I win 80 dll with only 4 dll
Cant beat the dollar days special and beginners luck!
