Ended intake call when I heard the late policy for their intensive outpatient program: $95 for each time youre 30 minutes late for a program that requires three three-hour days per week attendance. The individual quote I received 3/22/21 for the intensive outpatient program was $9,817.57. ($4,817.57 would be my out-of-pocket cost with very good insurance.) Im still not sure what the program is or how many sessions are covered, but $95 per day just for being late would have added way too much to my costs to make it worth considering. Must be for unemployed girls who have parents managing their finances--not women who actually have jobs and responsibilities of their own.
My experience was awful. I dont even feel like typing it all out, just wanna warn other people to avoid. Im not speaking to the care they have only for their finance and billing department. I was canceled on the morning of my intake because they messed up the availability and then tried to tell me my parents dont even have insurance... all the while Im really needing some type of extra mental health help. Im so done with this place. They called at inconvenient times several times asking for the same things that Id already provided (insurance) and then was not committed to the days theyd update me.
There’s only a few good people who work there the rest treat you with attitude and expect you to help yourself when that’s exactly why their there. The only part I enjoyed was the other people I met there and we all left early because it wasnt helping us. Don’t recommend this place at all if you actually want to get help because they wont help you at all. Also looking at the bad reviews which I agree on all of then with they seem to say the same thing if your actually tying to grow don’t hire people who dont care about helping people! In addition I agree with another review about how selective they are about disorders unless you have a more common disorder they act like you can fix the problem yourself which is why most people come to a place like this… they offer extra support if you ask for it but almost 90% of the time deny you that support and make you help yourself when I was there for a week I asked for skills coaching and they basically told me to do it myself when I didnt even know any skills since I was new I left after two weeks and then almost all my friends left about a week after and dont even get me started about bathrooms they encourage you to drink water but then get suspicious and act bothered when you need to use the bathroom.
This place seems more like how a jail is run. I really had a not so great experience with the intake caller. She was uptight, insensitive, and I felt like I was back in school getting scolded by a teacher. Dont want the program theyre offering.
I didn’t even last an hour. The inconsistency of the wait time was unpredictable, stressful, and it seemed all they cared about was my money. I understand treatment has a cost, but they made me feel like a number other than a human being. I read the orientation documents and saw how easily trapped I would be and hurt me more in the long run. Communication was horrid and I left during orientation because it did not feel right.I went to Northpoint Evergreen same day I left, and they made me feel so welcome and cared for. They helped me immediately and worked on a recovery plan same day. I am now doing PHP and IOP through Evergreen and I feel extremely good and safe about it. I am thrilled about my new provider and would not recommend Thira Health to anyone, it smells like a trap 100% and they don’t seem to care for their patients
Thira made our family situation even worse. They worked against us. For example, I scheduled an emergency doctors appointment scheduled for my daughter and notified them. They wouldn’t let me take her out because it’s “Company policy” they need 2 week ahead advance notice. The following day, they released my daughter from the program early, without informing us of anything. Terrible experience. Would not recommend.
Do not go here if you struggle with anything else in addition to depression/anxiety or an eating disorder. Theyll welcome you with open arms, of course, claiming they will try their best and their sure they can figure something out for x disorder, but youll later find yourself talking to your therapist about how youre unsure if you want to give them a second chance. They made no accommodations whatsoever for my misophonia, yet they go to great lengths to not trigger anyones depression/eating disorder. We werent allowed to say really anything about food at all, we had many trigger warnings over G rated movies, and we used the term expire(d) over dead/died but for any disorder its a different story: when I simply asked to face away from the other patients while eating as to not trigger my misophonia (hatred of sound) I was basically told by multiple people in multiple ways to just deal with it- no efforts were made what so ever, it was we cant do this or you cant do that end of story. I really wouldnt care that they did that because Im quite used to it, but its the insane unfair treatment of patients and capitalist ideology that made me write this review. If they had made accommodations for everyone or at least have been honest when I joined them that they in fact could not help treat misophonia in the first place, I would not have had the insufferable experience there that I did. When I chose to leave and told them I felt my time was wasted, staff told me some hurtful things including that I was unwilling and scattered as if It was my fault for having misophonia and standing up for myself about it in the first place. Like I said, if you have an eating disorder or mild anxiety/depression Im sure Thira would be a great fit for you but otherwise, prepare to be patronized, ignored, and out a few thousand dollars.
Interesting how the owner thanks all the positive reviews but doesnt address the negative ones.. whats that tell you?
Thira can be helpful for you or your child if the issues looking to be treated are acute anxiety, or self worth/self identity based. Do NOT go to thira if the issues involve ANY kind of substance abuse, sever anxiety and/or depression, serious ED, multiple suicide or self harm incidents or any severe mental illnesses like BPD or APD. I attended thira PHP program because I had anxiety around school and couldn’t go. While there i began doing pills at the influence of a peer I met at thira. About a week or so before I was to graduate the program, I was brought to the emergency room and asked not to come back for bringing pills on the premises. I understand their want to avoid legal issues and protect other attendees but it was really hurtful being abandoned and told that I had too many issues for them when that’s why I was there. I ended up going to a wilderness therapy program for 3 months and then a residential treatment center for 10 months. I graduate my residential center in 2 months and am doing great now. Like I said thira is very helpful to certain concerns of a lesser urgency but is not equipped or willing to support high risk kids/adults or substance abuse issues. I was really mad at them for a while for what I felt was abandoning me but have since moved on. Thira didn’t work out for me but maybe it will for you :) Best of luck in whatever direction you choose to go!
My daughter participated in DBT therapy at thira. After, thira recommended another program... this program was DPT as well. She just completed And learned these DBT skills at thira... and they send us onto another program of the same thing?? Talk about a bunch of morons.
The most amazing php!! very great environment
Thira is a mess. Our family therapist was a 20 year old (lots a life experience!) she was new to the job which says a lot too. Immature and didn’t know what she was doing. Not a good experience.
Terrible service !! My friend stayed here and got kicked out for finishing one of her assignments to early. If you are seeking a place where you can calmly work on your mental health this is not the place. They are strict and unforgiving !!!
I received excellent care here. They were compassionate, ethical, practical.
It’s taken years for us to find a treatment plan for our daughter’s depression that actually helps her to return to her normal life. When she did THIRA’s PHP track, they helped her plan around meals and nutrition habits, finding a balance between school and her treatment, and so many other resources around how to handle her anxiety and depressive swings. This was our first experience using a DBT-based solution and it’s made a huge difference for our whole family. We were impressed that the program also included things like yoga and art which really drew her into a more complete plan. It was a relief to know she was in such good hands during her time there!
Saw the therapist for over a year. One day she informs they are converting to female only practice and cut my services with no notice. Billing dept messed up and didnt process through my insurance. Contacted Thira numerous times to get this corrected and told it would be fixed. Thira sent to collections rather than reprocessing through insurance as requested. No office accountability.
I’ve recently started the PM IOP, and for the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful that over time I will develop the skills I need to improve my life. The group is highly structured. We first fill in information about actions, thoughts, and feelings we’ve had since we last met. My guess is that these are tracked over time to gauge progress. Next, we practice meditation. Then, we review our homework, which revolves around the DBT skill we learned the previous day. If someone struggles with a skill, the group offers both our support and recommendations. Then we learn a new skill, coupled with lots of examples to ensure it sticks.I’ve seen my individual therapist, Elisabeth Rehn, once so far (though she also teaches in portions of group). Elisabeth really listens, empathizes, and has already provided me with some great (and practical) advise. It’s easy to understand her and she seems very knowledgeable about the ever-changing world of therapy. I’ve seen Dr. Moore (psychiatrist) once. I’d like to meet with her more before I share here. There are some potential hiccups: goes from 4-7 T-TH, parking is not reimbursed, and the office is in downtown Bellevue. You’ll be charged out of pocket if you miss too many sessions or are very late. I think this policy is in place to ensure IOP is taken very seriously (as that’s how you’ll see results). I can’t comment on cost, as it’s covered under my insurance. Even with the hiccups, I’m only 1 week in and have already been able to catch a few potentially destructive thoughts and re-structure them.
Our daughter was treated here last year as part of the IOP for four weeks and it changed her life; she continues to use the skills she developed there to effectively manage anxiety and prevent a recurrence of severe depression.
This place rules...i miss it
THIRA provided excellent care.
