My husband and I had come to see Yellowstone the week of August 22-29.This was a very special trip because he is terminally ill and it was the only thing he wanted. It was put together by many friends of ours.Since we have lived in Florida most of our lives,I was worried about the altitude and the terrain. I envisioned treacherous mountain driving. LOLI called Hertz at this location a couple times ahead of our trip. I spoke to Lynn. She was so helpful and caring. Our entire experience with this location was wonderful. Karen who checked us in was wonderful too.I dont understand all these bad reviews. I think they great.Thank you for being a special part of our trip.
Was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but we had no issues. I have Hertz Gold so only one person was ahead of me so time from when I got to the counter to when I got to the car was like 15 min if that. I had rented a mid size car and they upgraded me to a small SUV Toyota Rav 4. Car was clear but a little banged up, had some scratches on it and the windshield has a small crack but they gave me a card that said they were aware so I would not be blamed. Car had over 30k miles but to be expected with the car rental shortages. The Rav 4 got better gas mileage than my 2017 Camry. Will rent here again next trip to Yellowstone!
Flew in here today, Ive been waiting ON LINE for approximately an hour and a half and Im only halfway down the line. This desk needs to be better managed. I should not have to take longer to rent a car than it takes to get through TSA. Needless to say, I will never be renting from Hertz/Thrifty, etc again. I didnt plan on renting from them at first but they were a last resort seeing as National and Enterprise had no vehicle availability. I now see why that must have been the case. You have people behind the desk taking their sweet time, obviously not working with any relative sense of urgency... management and employees alike at this chain should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.
I was very skeptical after seeing reviews of this center. Surprisingly I had great experience at this place. Landed bit early so went to pick vehicle before 1 hour and process was very smooth, lady agent didnt push to get insurance and prepaid fuel etc, Car was new like 7k ran and with no mechanical issues..Seems owner took reviews seriously and improved service..
For the price, the car wasnt clean. The passenger seat didnt work when we tried to lower it. We called to ask if we could trade in for another car, they said they didnt have another car. However, when looking at booking a car on the app, cars were available. The girl that helped us on the phone slammed the phone down othen. She said that they had 292 reservations and only 93 cars in the lots. Really The? And they still showing cars available for booking? We always love Hertz but this is the worst experience we have had with them.
Booked a vehicle for a late July trip in February of this year with an expected price. Read all the bad reviews here and was worried how our experience would turn out. About a week before our trip, double checked our rental and found that the rate was now showing as almost 3x higher than what we had booked. Being unsure whether my email with the lower rate, or this new rate would prevail when we showed up at the counter, I tried to call Hertz number and got a message that if I wanted to talk to a live person, they would add 5% to our rental. Wow. Hung up, canceled my reservation. Luckily, I had also booked with Budget at about the same time and even though that one was about $100 higher, I was able to easily get a live person to confirm my rate was still good and all was in order. Budget gets 5 stars, Hertz 1. I cannot believe we are now in a world where simply trying to talk to a human results in that type of charge being added to a rental rate that was already tripled. Believe the other reviews, choose somewhere else for your vehicle for a Yellowstone adventure.
Somehow got put on a “don’t rent” list? Since I disputed a false charge a couple years back. They treated me like garbage and literally gave me 2 numbers to call, neither of which got me to a real person. Eventually, had to cancel since they wouldn’t allow me to rent a car, which cost $100 bucks for nothing. A heads up would’ve been great, don’t try calling Hertz customer relations or worldwide reservations, they’ll refer you to the website
I had a good experience renting from Hertz in the Bozeman / Yellowstone International Airport. As a precaution, I brought a printed copy of my reservation and made clear this was the rate I was prepared to pay for this category of car.Brianna T. behind the desk was very helpful and straightforward with me on the terms of the contract. They gave me a nice low mileage 2020 model sedan. The return was easy too and hassle free.
It was a hassle free experience. No issues at all. Pro tip: go to the counter before 10 AM for shorter lines.
I rented here July 4-10. Placed an order early June, then flight was changed a week and a half before pickup. When I went to push back my pickup time on my online account, it said that my order was over $4,000 (when my email said ~$980). Hertz corporate customer service will charge you 5% to speak to a human. They won’t answer your emails. Your best bet is to contact them on Facebook messenger, of all things. But they couldn’t change my pickup time without voiding my original confirmed price. So I called Hertz Belgrade (hit 9 to speak to someone), she was short with me but said it’s a glitch in the system, don’t change anything online, she’ll just put a note on the order of the flight delay and new pickup time. I arrived at the counter, and they had voided my order despite that note. Had to wait for them to draw up a new order.Ultimately though the lady at the counter was very apologetic and helpful. She ended up getting me a better car (for me: went from a huge premium car with bad gas mileage to a 4Runner, which I was very happy with— perfect for Yellowstone, and in good condition) for a lower price, even including insurance for my peace of mind. They did cause me some more stress while I had it though, by placing 2 separate holds on my credit card (each over $1200) instead of 1. But I was able to return it 1.5 hr earlier than my scheduled time without a problem, and they ended up charging me the correct amount.Bottom line: I do NOT recommend renting from Hertz due to the problem with their online system and their horrible customer support on the corporate end. It caused me serious stress. If you MUST rent from them, sign up for the Gold members account, and be sure to include your flight information in your order so that they’re more willing to work with time changes. And bring your printed confirmation email just in case.
Reserved and paid for a car online. When I arrived, they wouldn’t honor it but said we’re welcome to rent at desk (which is double what’s offered online). After civil back and forth, they would not budge so we rented AGAIN online right there for an SUV and were given a compact car. Why? Why? After waiting a while we’re given a medium sized car which was still not what we had reserved…. so we walked passed about 30 of the SUV type we reserved to our joke of an “suv” and finally got to our place at 2:30 in the morning. Yes, a very upsetting night. Get Uber, sleep at the airport, but never use this company!!!
I’m really just here to thank the woman who helped me with my rental. I was in a bind because I landed 7 hours early and wasn’t sure if I’d even be able to get car. Hertz was very understanding and didn’t charge me for the extra day of the rental and I will always remember them fondly for that! Really turned a bad situation into a perfect one.
I paid over 700 dollars for a rental in Bozeman MT in June 2021. I was rented a 2021 suburban and the vehicle leaked gasoline from the time we picked it up until the time we dropped it off. We contacted the location we rented it from, the Jackson Hole location, and Hertz corporate and NO ONE offered any solution. I guess if the vehicle had caught fire, maybe that would have generated a response. I have emailed, called, and wrote Hertz corporate with NO response. I will be contacting the BBB as well. When the vehicle was dropped off, the Hertz maintenance worker who received the vehicle as well as the site manager, Gordon Menager, was made aware of the situation. NOTHING has been done to remedy this situation.
Lets see if someone care in your companyrent a car for a week with insurance on your websitewaited 45 min in line to get the cargirl force me to sign on waiver that i dont want insurance but i pay it direct on your website. i ask to talk to manager about insurance she told me the dont have and if i dont sign she will call security on me !!!!!why ???? customer service in that location ( BZN airport) customer service in that location was horrible in front desk shame after waiting 45 min then n got car with flath tire and then secend car with broken front window and that big safty.
Shame on you, Hertz. When people need a rental car because theirs is getting repaired, you should be there for them! Instead you tell them you have none for 4 months?? Interestingly, when those people went outside to use their phone and rent a car through you, they could rent one that very day for a week. SHAME ON YOU! This story will be told to friends, family and all who will listen who need a rental for any reason at all. BTW, Enterprise came through for us in a minute. Enterprise for the win! (I gave you one star because it wouldnt post with no stars)
The car was nice but they try to up charge you every single Chance they get. We tried scheduling the rental car over the phone and it was nearly twice as much as it is if you do it manually online. When you get I side to actually pick up the car they try to find any reason they can to make you pay more.
The actual car worked out great however staff was rude. They kept saying how busy they were which I understand especially during these times but I am still a paying customer. Will go with a different company next time.
Really steamed about this companys rental policies. I have to shorten my reservation by a day. I was not expecting to get the day waved, I simply called to let them know I would be picking it up on a Saturday instead of a Friday. To my surprise they adjusted the rate charging me an additional $300 to my prepaid reservation just to pick up my car a day late. Thats just gouging me for your damn losses during covid. I hate you Hertz!
Get ready to grab your ankles and get ramed by corporate greed. My family of 6 flew into bozeman with reservations of a mini van or 7 passenger PLUS luggage. We checked on the reservation multiple times before arrival and hertz assured us. Upon arrival they gave us a 4runner that has ZERO room for luggage unless we put 4 suitcases on the roof rack. Zero sympathy from the employees and they would not give us anything bigger. They offered another smaller vehicle for 1000 dollars! No discount offered for making us trek through Yellowstone looking like the Clark Griswald.
Got a Wrangler. Excellent vehicle. Pleased with the service.
Please call Budget or National. This Hertz Franchisee thinks it has a license to steal!!. I made a reservation for a car and prepaid the full $2370.75 for the week. After I get home from my vacation at Yellowstone, I got a collection notice that I owe an addition $6314.70!!!! thats in addition to the $2370.75 and the $603 additional they put through on my CC without my permission or knowledge. They also say if I dont pay right away I will have to pay another 40% in collection fees. THIS IS OUTRIGHT FRAUD!!! STAY AWAY!!
Car was a bit dirty on the outside because of staff shortage but the employees were nice and I got a free upgrade
Quick and easy! Ordered online and they had our rad 4 ready to go upon arrival.
I am currently sitting in the Bozeman airport. I have a reservation for a car . We arrived an hour earlier than my reservation is for and was told I had to wait till 1pm to get my car or I could upgrade for an extra $45 a day and have my car now. Really!! Flights arrive earlier or later all the time so after being at airports and traveling since 4 am this morning I have to wait another hour to get my car. Not good customer service.
Great staff. Upgraded.
Breana was very courteous and went out of her way to assist!
Tried to extend a reservation. Call the local office and they say i have to call the national desk. Call the national desk and they say i have to use the website. log into website and they say i have to call the local office. Guess Im keeping the car....
What ever you do dont rent a car from them through Expedia. Go directly through them. If you get there early they cant help you until the time Expedia picked for you. And even if Expedia changes your flight so that arrives 3 hours early they dont change the car rental pick up time and the contact between the two companys ties hertzs hands and you are stuck waiting three hours for your car
Prices here for a rental are bordering on criminal. Our rental estimate for 4 days was quoted at $1800. We got our prices from Govx so went with that. Bad customer service and not affiliated with Hertz National, individually owned so your status means nothing here. The service was bad, tried to extend our rental but ended up at Alamo and glad we did. The attitude of this Franchise is terrible! Don’t rent here, go to Alamo or Enterprise instead.
Wish Id read the reviews before renting with this place, worst rental experience ever. Flight came in early, was told by clerk #1 your car wont be ready until the pickup time, but you can upgrade to another car now, so Im forced to wait because they want to upsell me. Went to clerk #2 closer to pickup time, keys were and had been available the whole time. Then clerk 2 tries the upsell, and then says you can have the car refilled for 30 cents off a gallon, didnt tell me I would be charged immediately for a full tank of gas, when it was implied that I would be charged for just the actual amount to refill the tank. I called the next day to decline the refill, was told No its a contract youre locked in they wouldnt change it, of course if Id asked for a change they would make money on it would have been done immediately. Never going to rent from Hertz again, or use any platform that might end up with a Hertz rental. Going to tell everyone of this racket and make sure kids also never rent from hertz.
The car was ready, clean and easy to pick up.
Dealing with either fraud or negligence right now with Hertz. We are currently in Montana and the rep. That helped us at the Boseman airport was new and instead of using our reservation number we made for a 5 day rental she only did the rental for 1 day. Now we are getting a call from customer service asking us to return the car or accept a $200 per day rental rate plus taxes and fees. Even providing the reservation number that shows a 5 day rental customer service still can’t do anything about it. How can this be explained?
Only 1 start because they dont have a 0. NO customer service, no way to talk to a real person, voicemail HELL, will NEVER rent from Hertz again!!!
After reading some negative reviews I was worried about renting from this location...However, I’m glad I did and felt obligated to leave a POSITIVE REVIEW!Everything was smooth, I paid exactly what I expected and they even searched the car for my friends credit card which he later found.Overall 5 star experience, exactly what you want for an amazing Yellowstone trip.
All the negative reviews of this place are true. Do whatever you can to avoid renting a car from this place. They lie to your face and if you don’t read every detail in your contract they will screw you. It starts from the top down. I have owned and worked with many top notch companies. If you want to know how not to run a company or how to provide terrible customer service this is your place.
They do not answer the phone. We needed to extend the rental and there wasn’t an option make the change on the online.
I headed the warnings of these reviews and cancelled my car reservation. I am looking forward to a peaceful vacation and the potential stress of dealing with this business is not on my agenda. PS: If you are trying to reach a live person at this location, just give up on that okay. You will not get through their automated system, period.
Idely (hope I spelled that right) was a pleasure to work with. Both when I called on the phone yesterday and in person she was very personable and efficient. Made the car rental process very smooth which can sometimes be the opposite
6/14/2021 = 2 Star = Sorry that i give only 2 star coz i did not get a good deal and not much have option the time of my visit but good thing are good costumer service and patiently looking for other options .
My plane was delayed so I had to extend my reservation. When I did this Hertz charged me more than double the original price. Even though I was shortening the time I had the car.
My truck needed some repairs done so I reserved a rental for the day the work would be done as a way for me to get to and from work. I came to pick it up and was there for about an hour and a half before it was my turn. When it finally was they told me they couldn’t take my debit card or cash. (For the $200 holding fee) I only have one credit card and it only has a $200 limit to begin with. They told me there was ABSOLUTELY nothing they could do to help me. I’m a hertz gold member and have always used hertz, never been told that I couldn’t use a debit card in fact I have always used a debit card on prior bookings. My parents only use hertz, my grandparents only use hertz. Not anymore! Because trust me I have told them about my experience.
Booked a sedan for 12 day trip and was upgraded to a 4-Runner SUV which was even better for our national parks road trip. Our check in was easy and check out took mere minutes with the help of employee, Ben, who was super helpful and nice. We had a great experience and would rent here again
Please don’t work here....I was in the process of finding a new place to live before it got cold cause I was staying in a camper for the time being I was showing up to work on time or early and when I needed to go look at apartments I would let them know 4 days in advance if I even thought I was going to be 3 minutes and when I found an apartment I told them my move in date 10 days in advance I got a text message saying I was fired the day I was moving in because I was late I drove by the shop the next to see if they were busy and to reason with my manger well one the shop was completely empty so we weren’t even busy and two my old manger told me that there was no hope cause they already filed the termination papers... very unprofessional establishment who can’t seem to hire anybody and I found out why
Great easy pickup of car after a long day if flying but it also helps that I have hertz gold membership and used the app to book my car so all my details and info was already in the system and I just had to show ID and get the keys.
Alamo or enterprise is at least 50% less, go with them
The lady at the front desk was so lovely! We had such a crazy day but she made it super fast and easy to get us into a car. I’ve always rented enterprise but based on our encounter with this nice lady I’d rent again with Hertz.
Car was nice, offered an upgrade (like usual) but took it since it was supposed to snow. Was asked if we wanted insurance on the vehicle only we were never given a price. Tried to look online and it doesn’t tell you either, neither did our initial receipt/packet they give you. After our 7 day trip found it to be over 200 dollars. More than our car rental. Don’t fall for that BS. I will say the guy who checked our stuff in was polite/friends, sadly the guy who we initially got our car from was quite, short of words and clearly didn’t willingly give out all the info we would have liked to have. Luckily you have MANY options to go to aside from Herz at the Bozeman Airport!!
Got the car we needed, 4wd, great for Montana in the winter.
First and last time I will ever use hertz. And first time I felt it necessary to warn the public of this particular service. Upon arrival to our much anticipated Yellowstone vacation we met MICHAEL, a condescending little boy behind the hertz rental counter who seems to enjoy making a simple process very difficult. Micheal was very disrespectful not only to me but my brother, sister in law and my 60 year old mother. We were all very insulted by his actions. He must have been upset he had to pause his dungeons and dragons game. During the 5 minutes we were in front of the hertz counter there was 2 other cancellations directly due to this little boy’s condescending mannerisms.DONT LET THIS CLOWN BE TOUR FIRST MEMORY OF YOUR YELLOWSTONE VACATION!!!!!There’s a very helpful lady at the Alamo counter
Tim the CR confirmed the extension rate. Then refused to honor it at check-out. Suggesting I was mistaken. Very unprofessional and downright strange.DO NOT RECOMMEND!
I had a great experience here on the morning of 8/24/20. The woman behind the desk was super friendly and the whole transaction only took about 5 minutes.
Car was not there no one got car, had to come back at a later time. We just went elsewhere and got a car right away. Never ended up with a car through Hertz
By far the worst rental car experience! Don’t use hertz in Bozeman! Michael was really rude and did not help, almost like he enjoyed watching us scramble to get a car. No customer service and over priced! Don’t use them
Not transparent with pricing, not happy with this place I ended up using Turo instead.
I have been trying to rent a vehicle with Hertz Bozeman through my insurance agency now for 4 days, and not only have they been entirely unresponsive via phone, when I finally went out to the location they rudely informed that even though they had cars for rent they wouldn’t be able to rent me one as their manager wasn’t in the office. I will never rent from Hertz again if I can avoid it.
Staff was nice but I returned the car 1 hour late and instead of charging me for 1 extra hour they charged me for a whole extra day this was my first time renting and I was nervous based on the google reviews and it does seem the reviews are correct they do take advantage of people and aren’t very honest about their business. Based on the reviews I’m not even going to try and call the manager I’ll just eat the extra $15 rather than deal with the run around and probably waste my time. I don’t think I will be returning here I will rent with their competitors.
DO NOT RENT A HERTZ CAR AT THIS LOCATION, which is a franchised location and they can charge what they want and do not adhere to Hertz corporate policy. After arriving and picking up the car on 3/14/20, we found out the Big Sky resort closed the next day because of COVID-19. Because we had purchased a Pay and Save rate, this location refused to give a refund for unused days (4 days). The decision to keep our money will only hurt them because I WILL NEVER RENT FROM HERTZ again, especially this location.
Service was slow. I understand that gold members have priority but I can’t imagine it benefits to totally ignore the standard customer. They then offered something that wasn’t available. I understand customer loyalty but I won’t be returning to this agency.
Had an excellent experience here today. Much better than Ive had at the big airport locations. I had a few very specific requirement for what I wanted in a rental car and the representatives here were glad to hand me the keys to a few cars so I could check them out and pick out the one I wanted. I find this to be an extremely rare yet very well appreciated accommodation for me. All the cars I looked at were brand new with a couple thousand miles and nice high trims.
Easy and hassle free rental experience. Vehicle was ready when we arrived and waited in line less than a minute. Drop off was easy and quick as well. No issues.
I have rented from Hertz in many locations without incident. This appears to be a franchisee. I had my rental keys taken from me at time of return and told there were no problems. 10 hours after drop-off, my rental was shown as checked in, and I received a bill for $200 more than my original rate. I then had to call a dozen times to finally talk to a human. I will never do business with this location again.
Alyssia was AMAZING!!!! Due to unexpected flight changes we were not able to book a rental car in advance. She went above and beyond to work with us and her manager to ensure that we were able to get a rental car in a high demand time. She truly took every possible effort to make sure we were taken care of! We look forward to doing business with Hertz again.
Car I reserved was no longer available, given choice to wait for them to find one or pay higher rate for an upgrade. Also use non-standard policy for grace period on returns which is much more expensive than regular Hertz rentals.Car was also not properly cleaned.
Nightmare....at first.....travel company said $500 at pickup. It was $700. Had to make a $200 payment from bank, as I couldn’t charge it on my debit card. Transaction went through, counter staff was patient and understanding. Got the car, went to hotel. Found out $700 hold was on my card, and my account, plus two hundred dollar payment gone, so $1600 frozen, while I’m on vacation and needed it. Hertz didn’t screw up, combination of me and travel company. Bank required all kinds of stuff from hertz to clear the money. I emailed them, and they PROMPTLY got it fixed. Took about two days to get it all handled, but very reasonable, understanding and helpful staff. I’ll definitely rent from hertz again!
I have rented from Hertz in many locations without any issues. This appears to be a franchisee and they are not very honest. I had my rental keys and a contract taken from me at time of return and told there were no problems and no extra charges. However, then I received a bill for $72 more than my original rate. I then had to call a multiple times not only to the location (they never bothered returning a call) but to Hertz Customer Care. Unfortunately, Hertz could not do anything since this location is a franchisee and processes their billing separately. I will never do business with this location again. Be aware when you rent from them!
Went here to rent a car for two days. We made a reservation and said we’d be returning the car at 3pm the day it was due. When we got to the airport the kid who was working at the counter assured us this would be fine even though the contract was written up for noon. He said the contract always says noon. We were quoted a price and signed the contract. We even contacted the drop off location before returning it that day and the gentleman informed us that there would be no extra charge. After returning the car we were charged $310 extra dollars. The invoice said “extra day fee” and “miscellaneous charges”. When we called hertz corporate they said they couldn’t help us because this was a privately owned location. We finally got through to the Bozeman location and they said we could only inquire over email. They only ageeed to credit back $100. SCAM. And terrible customer service. Almost $800 for a two day rental. I will be contacting my credit card company.
Returned my rental car and noticed a small dent near gas fill, showed to return guy and he said not to worry. 4 weeks later I get a claim adjuster calling wanting 650. There was no one outside when I got the car and so I took pictures, not noticing dent palm size. Now I have a big hassle to deal . Find anyone else to rent from. Their response is that they are understaffed so no one is outside to look over and none there when you return except to say its not an issue. Stay far from Hertz. I will walk before using them...
Run, far far away. These people are the worst of the worst. I had reserved a car 3 weeks prior. When I got dropped off at the airport, I had no idea Id soon be stranded. I was renting the car through State Farm, as one of their drivers had damaged my vehicle that was being repaired. When I showed up, they claimed to have one economy car to replace my midsize SUV. I was set to drive out of town from the airport and needed a comparable vehicle. Luckily, my auto body shop quickly put my vehicle back together so I could take it. The car Hertz gave me drove like the wheels were about to fall off it. It had dings and dents all over it, it looked like a teenager stole it from their parents and took it for a joy ride, and then beat it with a hammer for good measure. There was no way to note all of the damage, so Im sure I would have been charged for some of those dings had I accepted the vehicle. State Farm offered to rent any vehicle on the lot for me, and they still claimed they had none. To make a bad situation worse, Ally was helping me, but she couldnt be bothered to put her cell phone down and look me in the eye. After I left, I tried calling corporate office to get things resolved, and they couldnt even reach this office because they have their phone set to go automatically to voicemail, and they wouldnt return any calls. This is seriously some of the worst customer service Ive ever encountered. I know its hard to find good employees in our town, but this was exceptionally bad. I can say with 100% certainty that Hertz will never get one dime of my business after this experience.
This facility will rip you off! Avoid these clowns! Dont give this facility your money or your companies money.I have Presidents Circle with Hertz and rent with Hertz all the time. I booked an intermediate SUV and was assigned an Ecosport, which is a horrible excuse for an SUV and an embarrassment to Ford. To avoid the Ecosport I had to upgrade for $15 a day. Poor customer service and they appear not to take care of loyal Hertz customers.
Worst experience ever. Got a flat tire with a nail, called the Bozeman location and they told us to drive the car back with the donut on to exchange the vehicle. Over 60 miles away we drove it back and the POS Zach behind the counter refused to help and told us to get a hotel room instead. Will never use this again and Zach is the most unprofessional POS a business can hire
I know they have knowledge of how many rentals they have and when......to have 1 service agent and 14 people in line and a very slow service agent shows complete disregard to peoples time.
We (My wife and I) rented a car for a week and were given an upgrade after shortly waiting in the Hertz Gold line. My advice is to inspect your car carefully and take pictures before leaving BZN while also reading the rental contract. When dropping off our car, we asked about the contract and after learning we needed to turn it over, we took a picture of it in front of the person inspecting the car. We informed the agent we took pictures as a precaution and were cleared and charged with the amount that was originally booked. We personally had a very positive experience with Hertz in Bozeman. We were encouraged to inspect our car before leaving the airport and given opportunity to do so again at the airport before heading to ticketing. In short, be proactive and you should be fine.
I am a gold member and was offered a complimentary upgrade by the desk agent when I checked in for my car. I did not request an upgrade. A complimentary upgrade was offered to me. Unfortunately, the contract did not reflect that this was offered as complimentary. In an email to the billing person to make a correction and refund, he was not willing to provide a refund in the amount of $100. I find this very poor customer service that the billing person is taking it upon himself to not honor the offer that the desk agent offered. The desk agents and the billing department ought to be able to work together to honor offers that are made. I travel for work frequently and visit the Bozeman area at least once a year. I will not be utilizing the services of Hertz even though I am a Gold Member. I guess that customer service is not part of the training at this location, very sad. I have also left voice messages to have someone from that franchise return my call to discuss this issues, and no one has returned my calls nor has MIchael from billing provided me a phone number that I could call to discuss over the phone. I have placed a dispute on my credit card for the overcharge, as I refuse to pay for something that was offered as complimentary. Guess I should have read these reviews before renting. Beware.
This location of Hertz is amazing. When I arrive to Bozeman, I noticed my wallet was lost at the Hertz counter. The lady helping us was so empathetic and also gave us tremendous assistance and providing all kinds of options to get us on our way. The vehicle and Rental was fine. The return was very efficient. Upon Landing in Los Angeles I realized that we had left two pairs of gloves in the car. I called them and Matt took down their information and with the assistance of Wendy processed the reunification of our gloves with us. Could not have had a better experience with a rental company and location. Hertz Bozeman Montana you are truly number one for us. Thank you for the entire awesome group at this location.
Fine service, nice cars. Just dont make it complicated and you will be ok. Driver name on the paying card and drivers license, no exceptions.
This was really a nightmare. The reason Im giving two stars instead of one is because the employees tried to be helpful. We reserved our vehicle online for our *honeymoon*, got off the plane, and headed to the Hertz desk to pick up our car, only to suddenly learn that they will not rent to you if you dont have a credit score. Neither of us have credit cards, and even though we had plenty to cover the cost of the vehicle and the *$200* hold applied until you return the car, they wouldnt accept it. They dont take cash. They dont take credit cards over the phone. So we were completely stranded. At Yellowstone. A place where you HAVE to drive. We had to go down the line of rental desks to find one that was a reasonable price and would actually take our money, and it wound up costing us $200 extra. There was no warning about this, and no policy throughout Hertz, because we rented a car from another Hertz the day before with no problem. We eventually found out that it was a policy determined by the *individual owner* of the store, so there was basically no way we could have known except by calling *this* particular Hertz and asking about it specifically. I guess well know for next time, but there are no words to describe the emotional turbulence and frustration of suddenly having to spend a lot of unexpected time and money at the beginning of a honeymoon just because we dont do credit cards. Super sad.
Every time I called today, the call was dropped after selecting 1 for reservations. After calling corporate multiple times and explaining that they could not just transfer me because the call would drop again, I was finally able to get through to the Bozeman location. However, when I explained that their phones were wacky, the woman in Bozeman rudely told me that I need to press 9 to speak to someone. However, that is not what their automated system says to do, and when you select any other options the call drops. All I wanted to know was the status of my spot on the waitlist for the day I need to pick up a car. Overall none of the 4 people I spoke to in corporate were helpful, nor did they actually listen to what I needed. The Bozeman employee was rude and also unwilling to help or listen. After spending over half an hour on the phone, I still dont know if Ill have a rental car on the day that I need one.
0 star!!! Horrible customer service and rude!!! If you rent from Hertz do not use any express pick up or return!! Do plan for extra time and demand an agent escort you to the car to check out and demand an agent to check you in upon return. Dont feel bad for the 10 people in line behind you, the lack of agents nor the blizzard conditions outside or whatever your circumstance is. I would also suggest you extensively document in pictures and video the condition of the car when you rent and when you return especially if you dont pay for the full coverage on the vehicle. Refuse to sign the form that has the condition of the car until you actually visualize yourself and make the agent completely clears your car of snow if necessary. This advise comes directly from Hertz after I contacted them about damage they found on a car I rented. I merely asked for time and date that damage was discovered and was told they delete all evidence immediately after sending it to claims management company and if you are stupid enough to not pay for full coverage then Hertz can charge you whatever they want and dont have to provide any documentation because it is in the fine print of the contract. I rent cars alot and have NEVER had issues dealing with any other rental car company!!! HERTZ preys upon people who are not over-the-top diligent in the rental process and then shame you for using the convenience processes they design. Had a similar experience in Denver... they tried to tag me for hail damage. Told me they didnt need to document it because the whole fleet was damaged. They charged me for that hail damage upon return. Had my documentation that time! Hertz doesnt deserve your business!
Checking for the best deals at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, Hertz offered the best deals, service was excellent and fast. When Itravel I want to get my vehicle and get going...and was able to do just that. Upon return I was greeted in the garage area with a quick check, approval and on my way. For me, thats the way to do business. Ill rent from them again.
With dealing with rental cars agency, this is the worst operation I have ever dealt with... no receipts, no phone pick up, very poorly trained, know legal obligations for safety of cars and the fail to not be accountable (lawsuits are needed).Very poor service on rental, out of date oil, trans, and diffs, No window washing fluid in winter conditions... they need a zero for the rating. I would like to know who manages these kids that have no idea and play on there phones and not do customer service... lost me
I have been a Hertz gold member for many years and travel constantly for work. The Bozeman, MT airport location is hands down, without a doubt, the least professional, least organized, least customer service oriented franchise I have ever dealt with.We needed to modify our reservation roughly 5 days after we picked up the car. They have not yet updated the reservation from nearly a week ago, and they have screwed it up so badly the national customer service number cant even see the reservation. At this point, we are not even confident the rental contract we are driving around on is valid. For the last two days, after more than a dozen calls, nobody has answered the phone; instead we are met with a recording that they are with another customer. There is no option to leave a message or receive a callback. While I will likely remain a Hertz gold member, I will rent from another company whenever my travels bring me to Bozeman from now on.
My experience dealing with Hertz itself was satisfactory and their customer service was great, HOWEVER, they contract with a company PurCo that is horrendous. I returned a vehicle with a crack windshield, rock hit it, absolutely nothing I could have done. I have full-coverage insurance, it should be completely covered. Completed the incident report, provided all information for my insurance - PurCo never filed the claim and is trying to get me to pay $493. WHAT DO I PAY INSURANCE FOR THEN? FULL COVERAGE MEANS COVERING DAMAGE I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER. Like I said, Hertz was fine, but they absolutely need to end their contract with PurCo. Sketchy. as. hell.
What they dont tell you when you book is that you need a credit card and a return flight ticket when you book. I was just trying to rent a car and I live in Montana. So they said they would not rent to me and I did not get the money I paid for insurance back.
Initial Review:They dont about customers service at all. Worst place to rent a car. Stay away!!!!Update:Mike Lucero, as mentioned by SO MANY within the review section on Google and other websites is a serious problem and threat to customers (potentially employees too considering what I saw him do).Its concerning that Overland West of Ogden Utah is likely unaware of this mans behavior. It quite frightening - Id recommend heedingthe advice of so many here - try at all means to rent elsewhere when visiting Bozeman. For some context, Ive rented over 30 vehicles from Hertz across North America and Europe within the last year. This location is quite awful in comparison.Overland West ---- I hope you read these reviews and consider reaching out personally to previous frequent Hertz customers and any customers who may have had issue at this location.Mantra for this location: The City Manager is always right and the customer is always wrong - have a nice day!Dealing with the IRS may be more pleasant!!!!
Five Star member with Hertz. Nice upgrades, express pick up without the need to wait in line for a representative trying to upsell vehicle type and add-on insurance.
This is the worst car rental agency in the world! I wish I would have read reviews before I suggested to my employee to rent from here! Mike (the Manager) has no customer service skills! He said he was going to add the code for federal employees to have coverage - he did not! The truth is he doesn’t know how. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!
Friendly service at a smaller airport in Bozeman. Hertz is closest for pickup and drop off and the weekly rate I got for a Subaru Outback was great! Be a kind customer, its never failed me.
I had concerns based on the bad reviews, but I risked it due to a low rate on an SUV. Very glad I did. They gave me a better vehicle than I had reserved, were super friendly and very fast. I was through the whole process in less than 5 minutes. Highly recommend!
We have been a Hertz customer for years. We have thousands of rental points; enough for over a week in free rentals. The problem is that our location here in Bozeman will not honor the Hertz promise. We are now on our way to Enterprise because if we are going to pay it will not be at Hertz
Was truly worried cuz our inbound flight got delayed.. landed around 2:30am and the staffs were all there waiting for us. It took 3 mins to get everything ready before we could hit the road. Really professional staff!
They dont provide rentals through insurance companies on the weekends, just a heads up.
Very rude service especially the guy with the black hair! We ended up cancelled our reservation and went to Alamo rather than to deal with their terrible staff! Alamo is the best! They are nice and easy to deal with especially when you were in hurry and with kids traveling with you!
Excellent service for our trip to Yellowstone. Even upgraded us to a Jeep Wrangler! Will definitely be using hertz again.
ZERO STAR! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION!!!! WORST customer service of my life. I booked my rental through Expedia in a bundle with plane tickets. After landing in Bozeman, I proceeded to the hertz desk. They tried to tell me that what I paid to Expedia “did not count” for them, that I had to pay them AGAIN! Knowing this was ridiculous and untrue, I was on the phone/on hold with Expedia for over an hour before someone just walked out of the back office at the Hertz booth and said “oh we figured it out”. Got our keys and left. A few days later, a mechanical issue with the brake lines occurred causing us to have to call for assistance. Notifying them that we HAD NO BRAKES, they told me we had to DRIVE our vehicle an HOUR back to Bozeman to get another car. And AGAIN was told that the damage insurance plan I bought through Expedia/hertz “did not count” and that we didn’t buy through them at the counter so we were responsible!! I dealt with 4 different people at this location from the beginning of the pick up process to drop off and every single one was incompetent, had NO customer service, offered dangerous conclusions to problems and should please look for another job in an area with zero critical thinking! Sooooo disappointing and a huge inconvenience while across the country!! Please HERTZ look into this location and do some cleaning out/organization!!!!!
Very efficient
Called to report a missing item left in the car. The agent John could not have been more rude and condescending and unhelpful. Instead of simply taking down my information to have the woman in charge of lost and found call me to see if it had been turned in he instead wanted to continue to argue with me on the phone. I can see why the customer service rating is so poor. As a frequent customer of Hertz I will be sure to report this entire incident to the national level. In the end, this is not an uncommon sort of interaction with people from Montana so visitors be warned.
Great experience! Everything was so low stress. We got lost trying to find the counter because we didnt realize it was in the terminal, but otherwise, everything was great!Okay. Weve used them four times now. Every time has been great! The gal in the morning CAN come off as a snot, but shes just efficient, and I think her nonverbals can come off as abrasive. There was one morning, she had help and she was much more personable, so dont take anything personally. Shes doing her job and she does it well. And do your research before you go. They all talk fast.
The customer service representatives were not only unhelpful and rude, they also authorized my credit card for an additional $800 AFTER cancelling my reservation. I have reported them to the BBB; their changing of my rental contract and authorizing my credit card was done WITHOUT my permission or knowledge. I wonder how many other people have returned their car to find that they were charged exhorbitant fees because these employees and this location change the contracts without their customers consent or knowledge.
