Nine years ago, after an unsatisfactory repair experience from a chain music store, I discovered Leonards Music.What a find! Mike and his staff are exceptionally knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant. I purchased my next bass clarinet from Mike and am always pleased with his advice and service. Whether it needs a repair or just a tweak, I am truly confident that the work is done by a caring and true craftsman and that the price will be fair.

I would recommend to get the wind, brass and woodwind instruments from here but violins and violas aren’t the best quality. They gave my friend a violin instead of a viola he asked many times to confirm it was a viola. The 4/4 violins are a bit smaller then normal and the pegs were not fitted correctly. When I got a rental, the strings were not replaced impacting them sound a lot. The strings were around 4 years old and your supposed to replace them every 3-6 months. Violin came with scratches and they should be able to repair the scratches by using a liquid that melts the varnish. The bow for the violin came crooked and needed a repair and a recanvis making the bow more bouncy. Bridge was around 3 mm too tall which makes strings harder to press down. But as for the other instruments they are very good. They also gave nice bags and pencil and the service is good. They also deliver to schools which is a good feature.

My 9 year old daughter has been struggling playing the bells, so I called the store to see if they could help. I brought the bells back to the store and Greg thoughtfully and patiently helped by placing note stickers on each bell. It has helped to make it a bit more enjoyable for my daughter to play the bells. Thank you !

I broke my daughters cello string over the weekend, right before an orchestra performance this week. Everyone at Leonards was kind, reassuring, and helpful--on the phone and in the shop. Greg helped me feel less stupid for busting the string AND managed to fix the problem in a matter of minutes and a low cost. The shop is beautiful and a testament to a love of music. As long as my daughter is interested in orchestral music, we will be renting or buying at Leonards! Thank you Greg, and everyone.

I cant say enough about this business- at least as it is represented by the employee Greg. I brought an instrument back to the shop- to return, as my 9-year-old son had felt unsupported and uninterested and quit. A quick visit right- to return an instrument and end a contract? Well I talked with Greg for a while about music and how to encourage children. He suggested ideas for my older child... I left feeling great about music education and very willing to go out of my way to work with Leonards in the future.

I have been going to Leonard music since 2012. Ive had an old clarinet refurbished for a beginning player, purchased a higher end clarinet, and have had number of maintenance visits over the 6+ years. Michael is very knowledgeable and the customer service experience is always top notch. He adjusted my daughters clarinet today and did not even charge me for the visit. Great to have a music store like Leonards in the area!

Pleasure to work with. We brought our rental instrument to them after a mishap on a Saturday morning and they had us wait while it was looked over to ensure everything was as it should be and gave our young learner pointers. Wonderful place and wonderful people!

So lucky and blessed to have this place so my son can rent an instrument! I give it 4 stars because weve had issues since we upgraded in size of instrument given my sons growth. But they have been able to quickly resolve any problems, including replacing string on instrument.It does appear though that they wont tune instrument after adjustments are made. Then, Im waiting until following week - and were possible looking to address the bigger problem.

Quick story about the awesomeness of Greg and Kaitlyn:This September, my son started playing the clarinet in school and even though its almost November, I never got around to buying him his required music book (every week I wrote it down on my to-do list but and then another week would pass and it got pushed down the list). This week, his band had a performance and he STILL didnt have a book. I only remembered at 4:58 pm the night before the performance. I called Leonards and asked what time they closed. 5 pm. Unfortunately, I live 20 minutes away. When I mentioned this, Kaitlyn and Greg offered to stay open until I arrived. How awesome is that? SO AWESOME! And once I did arrive, they were super friendly. Thank you, Kaitlyn and Greg. You saved my day!

We purchased a new flute from Leonards Music. We made an appointment to come in and Michael spent a lot of time explaining the different options in flutes, what to expect regarding prices, and allowed my daughter to try out several flutes until she found the one that felt and sounded the way she wanted. He then insisted we take it home and test drive it for a week before we bought it to make sure it was The One.There was no pressure at all, from start to finish, and it was an overall excellent experience! We would definitely recommend Leonards Music to anyone interested in purchasing an instrument. They know their stuff and will make sure you get the instrument that is right for you.

Updated on 11/7/2018:I received the managers response very soon after I posted the review. They also offered me a free book. Book was sent to the school, and somehow we just got it from the school last week. As I already have this book, I sent it back to Leonard last Saturday. Overall it was a happy experience.No complaint on the instrument rental, but I do have a complaint on books.They told me we did not have the book and would have our order in next few days, maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Then I called them again and again, they told me same thing: not come yet, maybe tomorrow. After one week, still no book, which made my son have his 1st class without a book. This was really misleading. If you told me directly we would not have books till xxx, I would already had ordered through Amazon.

Recently my son needs a upgrade of his clarinet, so we went to Leonards because it is local and highly recommended by his teacher. It turned out to be a very nice experience. When we went over to pick up the instrument, I was pleasantly surprised that Mike offered him not one but actually two clarinets and told him that he could keep them a while so that both he and his teacher can try them out and then decide which one suits him better. Obviously he gave enough trust to a 13-years old to take care of two $2000 instruments, and he did. When we went back to return the extra one, Mike spent quite a bit of time chatting with us and gave us some tips about taking care of the instrument. We are very satisfied with clarinet and the experience and would highly recommend Leonards to anybody who is interested to rent or buy music instruments.

I recently purchased a tenor saxophone from Leonard Music via telephone. The owner spent a lot of time discussing my options and did not try to sell me more than I needed. It was sent out UPS and was perfect. This is a great place to do business and I would recommend it to anyone looking for musical instruments and accessories.

I used to go there for flute repair and my advice is that dont ever bring your flute here for the repair. You would end up spending more money. Everytime when I visited there, they charged me a little over $100. This time, I decided to take it to a flute repair specialist and I was told that whoever fixed the pads and shims before did really poor job on it. The price I paid was only $20-30 more than I used to pay, and the sound got much much better and it was even polished. At Leonards, my flute was never polished and even had more scratches after fixation. Find a different place and pay a little more. Then you will be happier.

I usually shop at local stores, but decided to shop online for a trumpet stand. I researched for days, looked at many websites and found Leonards Music. They must be AWESOME BUSY because shortly after ordering my items, I was informed they were backordered and I wouldnt be receiving my items when I needed them. I contacted Leonards and spoke to GREG, who expertly substituted my chosen item and it arrived ON TIME, in EXCELLENT CONDITION... and is EXACTLY what I was shopping for.!! GREAT QUALITY ITEMS... and EVEN GREATER CUSTOMER SERVICE.!!! Here we are in sunny California finding one of the BEST music stores in the US. Purchased a second-hand Tenor Saxophone for my son from here. The owner was knowledgable and fair. He also does repairs and rentals to many schools in the area. Strongly recommend.

First of all I strongly suggest that you should think twice before doing business with them. Here is my recent experience:My wife rented a violin for my daughter from Leonards Music and paid insurance.During her school music class the bow was broken under normal usage.My wife took it to the shop and they said the insurance doesnt cover bow so she paid for a replacement. When she got back and told me this, we looked at the insurance agreement carefully and it does for sure cover the bow.My wife called the shop saying the insurance should cover for the bow and this time they said the bow was broken because of over tightening. Its abuse or neglect from the customer and not covered by the insurance. My wife explained to them that my daughter is very careful and she has been playing violin for more than 2 years that she does not over tighten the bow. Shop manager simply said that this kind of broken can only be caused by over tightening and is not covered.It doesnt make sense to me that they sell insurance and later refuse to cover the damage by just saying it is caused by consumers mis-usage.

We purchased a used clarinet in excellent condition for a great price. Mikes knowledge of clarinets is unsurpassed.

Went to buy a new alto saxophone. Mike the owner was incredibly helpful, didn’t try to push needless products on me in order to sell more, even gave me a free week trial with the two I was looking at.

While it might not seem like the most professional of places they are very nice and willing to be flexible.
