I had the most amazing experience at the Beaverton Montavilla Sewing Center. Everyone there was extremely helpful, especially Wendy Mathews, who spent hours with me showing me how to tune my own two machines, as well as outlining all of the features of the new machines, without any expectation that I would actually BUY a machine. She demonstrated numerous techniques of sewing specific to my daughters swimwear line (in the design phase now). She spent so much time with me and my daughter, teaching us without charge. In the end, I did purchase a very nice machine for my daughter and am contemplating getting one for myself. I would highly recommend this store.

The experience of shopping and purchasing sewing machine or supplies is always great. In the last 10 years Ive purchased/traded 5 sergers and 9 sewing and/or embroidery machines. Every deal has been fair and EVERY machine has be brilliantly supported by Montavilla. Never a worry if I purchase a machine from Montavilla.

I first went to Montavilla sewing centers when they only had the east side location with my mother as a little girls. Then I started taking my children. Now as a grandmother, I have an opportunity to take my grandchildren. This family owned and operated sewing machine store has been a mainstay in the sewing community longer than most people can count. One thing has never changed all through the years I have been going for yearly machine maintenance and repair is the service. Genuinely warm, kind and especially knowledgeable.

I brought in an old Pfaff, 35+ years, for an unlikely repair. I didn’t think it was possible & it wasn’t but the people at the store were so nice & professional. I was given a trade-in credit for my dead machine which was amazing . I didn’t even look on Amazon because my interaction with the store personnel was very good. They didn’t just listen to what I was saying, they really heard what I was saying & that was great. Love my machine & the store!

I went to the Beaverton store. My machine would not wind thread on the bobbin. I was expecting to drop it off and come back another day to pick up. The service tech looked at it, did his magic and I left with it about 10 minutes later. Excellent customer service--I will be back.

I had such a good experience purchasing my first ever new sewing machine. Wendy at the Montavilla store (SW Western Ave. Beaverton) helped me compare models and makes for my specific purposes. I had also prepared a list of options from reading reviews from various sewing websites. Since we have been in quarantine in order to take care of our elderly mother, Wendy patiently handled long telephone calls discussing pros and cons of each model and spoke from experience. I was happy to hear from her that she also had similar interests in the type of sewing I am interested in which helped to choose a machine. My sister also participated in this process. We were able to make a decision and bought the same Viking Opal 690Q. Wendy never pushed or applied pressure which made the entire experience comfortable and fun. I would buy again from Montavilla. This was a great experience in purchasing my first sewing machine. I explained my needs and was given a few options and even given the opportunity to use the machine myself. I knew this would be an investment but they even worked within my budget. Very happy.

They were super helpful and took the time to explain the difference between the machines. I also had a couple questions after I bought the machine, I was able to go right in and ask and got the answers right away. Very nice employees.

Most of my experience is with the Beaverton store. The techs and staff are conscientious. The whole store has been very accommodating and proactive during COVID--keeping folks sewing while maintaining safety. They have a good selection of specialty thread. I especially enjoy their seminars and the annual tech show.

I love Montavilla! I have purchased a new sewing machine and a used serger from them. The people are very knowledgeable and when I had an issue with my sewing machine, the service person was great and took a lot of time with me to get it just right.

First, I need to point out how bad Save Stores in Portland is so you can see how good Montavilla is for sewing machine maintenance and repair.I have been taking my Bernina 530 sewing machine to Save Stores in Portland (where I bought the machine) to have maintenance for years and each time it comes back sounding and acting the same way, so I always thought that was as good as it got. I even had to bring it back in to complain that it wasnt sewing quite right and they blamed it all on me and my thread and my needles and my tension, blah, blah, blah. I then took a class there and spent the whole day in their store and really got a taste of what they were truly like and I was thoroughly disgusted with the level of incompetence and tacky salesmanship. When Save Stores finally ticked me off enough (by trying to sell me a new Berninan when all I was doing was getting annual service), I transferred all my sewing machine maintenance/repair to Montavilla.My Bernina just came back from maintenance and it sounds and sews terrific! I never even knew it could sound this good (smooth and quiet)! I had called in advance to see how long it would be in the shop because as a mask maker, it wasnt possible for me to not have the machine for over a month. They were incredibly helpful and told me to take it directly to the Beaverton store and they put a note on it regarding the urgency. So on top of their wonderful customer service, my machine is now sounding and sewing like it did when it was brand new.It just goes to show that not all sewing centers and not even certified Bernina technicians are the same... some (like the one at Save Stores) are complete hacks. Thus, I will continue taking ALL my machines to Montavilla. They have earned my business.

Recently, I decided it was time to retire my 32y/o Pfaff Creative. I am doing a lot of quilting during this COVID crises and I wanted a machine that was designed with the home quilter in mind. I went into the Beaverton Montavilla with my heart set on a Pfaff 710. I was helped immediately and they put the machine through its paces. 30 minutes later, I walked out with my new machine. It was a great experience. I have since been back several times to pick up a few accessories and they have provided prompt and knowledgeable help. I will continue to go to Montavilla for supplies and advice.

I Went to check out Montavilla Sewing Centers to see what they had to offer because my husband and I were in the market in buying a sewing machine. We heard many great reviews about them from others and saw they were open and viewed their site ahead a time about shopping with them and it seemed it was okay for us to just stopby. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a woman who simply asked us “Why are you in this store?” I was a bit drawn back by the greeting since it was not a standard way to greet someone. Usually when you greet a customer you say something along the lines of “Welcome, how may I help you today?” Or “Welcome in is it your first time visiting us? If so let me give you some information on what we offer.” The cold greeting personally made me feel that I was not welcomed in the store and told my husband that we should just leave and go to Michaels next door to finish our errands. Before leaving He asked questions to this woman such as what is offered, if they sold machines and such and didn’t get any answers from her. Instead he just got a blank stare from her and then her saying if we want to browse it may be best to look at fabric next door.It’s really saddening to experience what we had experience today while hearing and reading all the great reviews about how this location in particular is the best place to buy a Sewing Machine and get Information. After we left, We have sense decided to purchase a machine from an online company that we had been looking at for our business needs. We like to support local businesses when we can for our business needs but to experience this type of customer service makes us not want to come back to this particular location for any of our sewing machine needs.

Montavilla Sewing Centers are the best people to go see if you have any sewing needs. They have helped me throughout the years with servicing my machines and help to show you how to use your new ones.With all the COVID, Ive made over 2000 masks and have donated 90%. Sewing from 5:30 in the morning till about11:00 pm every day and giving to everyone in need, my 26 year old PFAFF machine died!!! Taking it to them and hoping it could be fixed and after a few days they called me and said it wasnt fixable. They then told me, they took a newer PHAFF in .on trade and because or what Ive done they serviced it and gave it to me...I cant THANK them enough for what they did and how WONDERFUL they are to work with.Still sewing masks, but not as many .MUCH LOVE for ALL YOU DO!

Through the years I’ve always appreciated the willingness of each of the customer assistants to answer my questions about thread, needles, sewing techniques with various fabrics, and machine repair (Viking Sapphire). I also truly appreciate Wendy’s engaging enthusiasm while giving me new insight into my newly purchased Pfaff Quilt Expression 720! I’m enjoying the new machine so very much and extremely pleased with its IDT technology that makes quilt piecing less tedious for those like me who are Type A perfectionists who want to sew and gift ‘perfect’ finished products! Purchased an embroidery only machine during Covid-19. The sales person was very friendly and helpful. I purchased what was thought to be a new machine when it was really a classroom model. They very quickly gave a refund for the difference in the price. The sales person nor myself knew that it was a classroom model until I got it home and noticed the sticker and minor scratches. They did offer to replace it with a new one but I choose the refund as it didnt affect the function of the machine. I will purchase from them again.

I brought my Janome sewing machine in for routine maintenance. I got it back in a couple weeks-actually much quicker than I expected. They are very conscious of the COVID protocols of mask wearing and social distancing-thank you!

My journey toward the purchase of a new combination sewing and embroidery machine was unusual, because of the Covid virus. I had a sewing machine that was perfectly wonderful, but it lacked the ability to perform embroidery. I did my research online, and found what I needed. I knew that I probably wouldnt be able to actually see and have the machine I wanted demonstrated, because there is such demand and there are social distancing guidelines. I also knew that an actually hands on tutorial after purchase was going to be difficult, or simply not possible. I then contacted a few sewing centers via phone in the general area, gathered many more details and made pricing comparisons. When I contacted Montavilla at the Beaverton location I talked to Debra (office manager). She was knowledgable and extremely helpful. She helped make my shopping and purchasing decisions easy to navigate remotely. It took time for the machine to be ordered and shipped. Accessory items, many of which were in stock, were set aside and others ordered. I finally took delivery, made a second trip a month later when additional accessories finally arrived. The machine and all other items purchased perform beautifully to date. Ive completed several projects, and even managed the embroidery function with excellent results through the help of online tutorials, many of which were available through the manufacturer of the machine. Sure I have checked out other places, but I always return because of their integrity and commitment to customer service. I have found their pricing to be fair and they deliver what they promise (and then some!) I know that they stand behind every product they sell. The education and support has been phenomenal. I went to Montavilla Beaverton one post quarantine afternoon between Zoom conference calls in order to purchase a sewing machine. Last time I bought a machine at Montavilla (Husquavarna Daisy, still a trooper!) was in 1997, I just needed an upgrade. After consulting with Wendy, a sales specialist, she make a decisive recommendation and I was out the door in less than 25 minutes. The next time I went in I got a free private lesson and further equipment recommendations including for the most amazing pair of scissors I’ve ever owned. Wendy worked out an amazing deal for me and I’m super appreciative to the whole team.

The sales rep took the time to find out what kind of sewing I did and we decided on a particular machine. She then sat down and explained what the machine did and how to adjust tensions and all of the accessories. Most recently I had occasion to bring a project into the Beaverton store because I couldnt figure out what I had done wrong. Kelley Fones helped me by figuring out what I needed to do to fix my error and I was able to complete the project.

What a pleasure to visit the Montavilla Sewing Center in Lake Oswego. They have done a great job of providing classroom space and have a great selection of all that is needed for quilting. A big plus is being able to see what is new in equipment on each visit.

Beavertons service department took excellent care of my 1947 Singer Featherweight machine and me - a first-time customer - and Ill return with confidence. Sam took time with me to examine my machine and pre-diagnose what service it might need. He and the other staff are friendly and welcoming. Work was completed on schedule and I got a detailed invoice of everything that had been done.

I have a sewing center store less than 2 miles from my house. I would rather drive the 20 minutes it takes me to go to the Beaverton Montivilla Sewing Center. They are very service oriented!! I went in with a problem I was having on my embroidery machine. Within 5 min. the service guy had it fixed. No Service charge. If I ever have a question I call and ask for Shelly. She always knows what to do, and is willing to share her emince knowledge. Every one who works there is friendly and knowledgeable!! Love this store and staff!

The owners and staff always go above and beyond for their customers. I have purchased several machines and had them serviced here as well and Im never disappointed., I have had terrible experiences at other establishments, so Im very happy to now deal exclusively with Montevilla!Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They are polite and have great customer service. There are no pushy sales people! They will help you buy a new machine or help you with your existing machine and they are honest when they make a deal. They have a great variety of classes and merchandise.. This is the only place to purchase your sewing machines in the Portland area. Back in 1998 Montavilla had a fire at their original store. The contract for repairs states that the company is not responsible for machine replacement in case of fire or floods, etc. All the sewing machines in for repair at that time were replaced at no cost to customers despite the contract terms. This company goes above and beyond to take care of their customers. I will always be loyal to such a fine company. You are in good hands with Montavilla Sewing Center! A+++

I cannot say enough good things about Shelly, Jackie, Steve, Emanuel and all the rest of the staff at Beaverton.I was interested in free motion & ruler work for the domestic sewing machine, it took some time in figuring out that I needed to upgrade to the Performance icon machine. It really is a dream machine !

I dropped of a sewing machine I had been given for a tune up. Before accepting the machine for repair the attendant checked the machine to make sure it would operate since it was an older machine. She wanted to make sure it was cost effective for me and for the technician. I truly appreciate that consideration.I have had other machines serviced here. They do an excellent job.

They actually had a sewing machine in my price range during the height of the pandemic in my area. While I only got a brief demonstration of use, I was told I could come back later and get a more in-depth demo but I dont know if theyre open yet. They even gave me free extra bobbins!

I needed to trade in my old serger and went to Montavilla for help. The salesperson sold me exactly what I needed and didnt pressure me to move up to a machine that had stitching that I didnt need or wouldnt use. She spent lots of time with me, going over the machine and how it was different from the Babylock that I owned. My new Babylock is perfect.

I recently purchased a Baby Lock Evolve serger from the Beaverton location. I have lived in Texas for the last 15 yrs. But I have bought all of my machines from Montavilla. I purchased an Baby Lock Journey from them 6 yrs ago, and had it shipped to my home in Texas. My serger was pre-owned, yet Steve made sure it was thoroughly serviced, all parts were there. They gave me an in-depth lesson on how to thread and use it and did an exceptional job in the packaging. It arrived in perfect condition. I come up every year to go to the Sew Expo with my mom, and Montavilla always has fantastic deals, that I cant beat in Texas. So visit any location to get your next machine!
