Were new in Hillsboro and just did our first visits to Smiles Northwest this past week. We were super impressed with the admin staff as well as the medical professionals. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The medical team were not rushed and explained everything every step of the way. The dental equipment at the staffs disposal was the more advanced than we were used to at our previous dental office. We are patients for life!

I did a search for trauma-informed dentistry near me and the sedationcare.com website came up. Smiles Northwest came up on that search so I called to find out more info. The person on the phone was rude and pushy, saying stuff like ooohkaay? and left me hanging. She seemed rather agitated and annoyed that I was even asking questions about something she didnt appear to be aware of. If they dont know anything about trauma-informed dentistry yet show up on the search as such, then they should have simply said so. There are a lot of people who experience trauma and dont particularly like their mouth prodded or feel intense pain when done so. I struggle with sensory processing sensitivity and am trying to find a dentist who understands this. If you also struggle with that, then I dont recommend trying here. The lady on the phone will make you feel like you wasted your time.

Dr. Dodson and Dr. Chen are both great! They’re very good at what they do and very friendly-wonderful chair side manner.

Dr Dotson was very nice and professional, Catie, my new favorite Hygienist, was very patient and in the process of my cleaning, I barely felt anything, Heather was super accommodating and the building is one of a kind, state of the art structure, I wish I would have known about them 5 years ago! I loved the experience and I’m planning on coming back any time I need anything. Thank you guys!!

Great staff and overall excellent experience! I had not been to the dentist in over 2 years and was a bit nervous on the condition that my teeth would be in. My cleaning was top notch, I left the office feeling like I had a clean slate to work with. Dr. Chen and his staff were very pleasant to work with. So grateful I found Smiles Northwest!

I travel 105 miles to have Smiles Northwest work on my teeth because they are thorough and make me feel very comfortable while having difficult procedures done. I highly recommend them.

They kept me smiling during my pregnancy, which has now extending to new aspects of my life. I appreciate how accommodating they were now that we have a new little one. They both asked sincere questions about the new addition to our family. Also, I had very specific questions related to tongue ties, pacifiers, and pediatric dentistry. They thoroughly answered my questions and actually went into great depth with thoughts and solutions to some of my questions. Ive been a happy patient of Dr. Montrose since 1986. Im posting this review now because I had an amazing positive experience last week. I fell and broke a tooth on the way to the airport. Smiles NW got me in immediately, Dr. Dotson built me a new tooth right there in the chair, and they got me on my way quickly enough to make my flight! It looks and works just the same as the old tooth too.

Visited Smiles Northwest for the first time ever today! As someone who has had the same painful routine dental experience since childhood....this experience really blew me away. I have never had such a personal and caring health visit. Not even the delivery of our two children had this level of care and concern.Highly recommend Smiles NW!

Everyone is super friendly

I have been a patient at smiles northwest for over 8 years. I have had exceptional dental treatment from all of the Drs. The assistants do an amazing job working side by side with the Drs so they can put all their focus on you. The front desk works very hard to answer every question you may have for billing and finical concerns. The hygiene department is amazing at keeping you informed of your health and offering advice on the most up to date scientific evidence of how to maintain your smile for a lifetime.

Where to start... My mouth was a disaster as well in Orthodontics,where I thought I was going to remain for the rest of my life, but the team at Smiles Northwest in particularly Dr. Chen with assistance of my Orthodontist rolled up his sleeves and got right to work! The team put a plan together. I’ve had several teeth removed and replaced with implants. I have to say I was scared to death for that to happen as I’ve had the same procedure done before and it was excruciatingly painful, oh and did I mention the other time I had to be knocked out, not the most of pleasant of situations. Dr. Chen DID NOT put me under!!! I had a tooth removed and a implant done at the same time with conscious sedation yeah that’s right I was fully awake and not a pain to be had during the procedure. To top that off recovery was just an aspirin or two. The man is amazing from his personality to his skillset. I’ll say this if you’re not seeing the fine folks over Smiles Northwest you’re doing yourself and your mouth a disservice.Thank you so much guys! I am a new clients at SMILES NORTHWEST, and I thoroughly enjoyed my cleaning experience yesterday with Lori. She was very professional and pleasant. She did an excellent job cleaning my teeth and was very gentile. I have a built in retainer and was impressed that she even had special floss to go under it. I was extremely pleased with the level of care and professionalism showed by Lori, Dr. Dotson, and every staff member I encounter.

I just found our earlier this year I need a kidney transplant. One of the myriad of tests needed is a dental clearance. Upon referral from a close friend, I decided to give Dr. Jodi Dotson a visit at Smiles Northwest. She got me in right away. Turns out, I needed to replace a three-part bridge and a missing crown. A few weeks later, Im all fixed up and one step closer to my transplant. The best part was how incredibly wonderful the entire staff are! By far the best Dentist office I have ever gone to. They go above and beyond to make you feel as comfortable as possible. They also provide a lot more services than just your standard dentist. I was able take an at home sleep apnea test, and get fitted with a new mouth piece through them as well. As someone who over the years tried to avoid going to the dentist as much as possible, I can actually say I now have a place I enjoy going to. If you are looking for a new dentist I strongly recommend Smiles Northwest.

Dr Chen and his staff certainly take the fear out of dentistry. I had some dental surgery done there. I never thought I would enjoy going to the dentist, especially for surgery but I do. They made me feel confortable, exsplained every step of what they are going to do and answered all my questions so I understood completely. I love how he checks up on me while he is working. This dental office is amazing. Like a lot of people I have a huge fear of going to the dentist. They made me feel very comfortable and put my mind to ease. Dr. Dotson does an excellent job, and is so friendly and personable. Between my last appointments I had plans to go somewhere that I had talked to her about at my previous appointment. My last appointment she said she had been thinking about me and ask how my plans went. That is above and beyond what her job requires of her. It made me feel good that she followed up on what we talked about .. especially since it was my personal life she was following up on, and not just my dental issues. My hygienist Vanessa is equally amazing! Both at her job and just being an all around friendly person. My teeth were not in the best shape and never once have they made me feel like it was my fault due to neglect on my part, or feel like they were judging me in any way. I have had no issues with any billing discrepancies (like at my last dentist) Heather in the front office has handled everything like a pro. I am so grateful I found this office.They have been more than supportive in my journey to healthy beautiful teeth.I drive from Vancouver to Beaverton for my appointments, and will continue to do so. When you find amazing dental care like I have with this office, no amount of driving is too far. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new dental office.

Just had my an old filling repaired at Smiles NW with Dr. Chen, he does great work! I grew up hesitating going to the dentist, and this is my first filling in five years, I was nervous and Dr. Chen walked me through the whole procedure.Communicated what I would expect and feel and it was the best dental experience, first time I didnt have laughing gas getting a filling.His team is just as friendly too.

I have gone for something simple such as a teeth cleaning appointment to getting my wisdom teeth pulled and I have had nothing but the best. I just had full mouth impressions using equipment that simply scans over each tooth creating a digital impression for making my night guard. None of that gooey stuff needed and having to hold your mouth open while the goo hardens. Incredible technology, pain free and only took a few minutes. Thank you to Dr. Montrose and your highly skilled and compassionate team for uting this stress-free procedure.

I have been a patient of Dr. Montrose for over 20 years. I was originally referred by Cindy Rosales. Recently Cindy rejoined Smiles Northwest and I feel my dental family is complete. Cindy is excellent in her job she performs and is very knowledgable in her field. It is so nice to see her as soon as you walk in the office. She is a great asset to you!

My experience at Smiles NW was exceptional. The decor and atmosphere was up-to-date and professional. I particularly enjoyed the espresso maker in the lobby! The front desk staff were helpful and able to answer all my questions. The hygienist was gentle, knowledgeable, and friendly. She was attentive to my questions/concerns and collaborated with Dr. Montrose to make sure that I was given thorough answers. My only disappointment with Smiles NW was that I had to wait for a long time before Dr. Montrose came in, though I suppose having a busy dentist is a good sign because it speaks to the fact that lots of people have entrusted him with their oral health. Overall, my experience was positive and I highly recommend Smiles NW!

I am giving them 3 stars because as great as their service is, their prices are astronomical and theyre the first and only dental office I have not been able to make a payment plan with. I dont know many people that have many hundreds/thousands of dollars just sitting around. Very disappointed that instead of making a payment plan (as many medical facilities and 99% of any other dental office out there) they make you take out a loan to pay for everything. Once all of my current treatments are completed here, I will be looking elsewhere for my dental care. It really is a shame because they are so polite and prompt.

The front office people are very nice, the docs seemed professional, and the waits werent too long. Wed heard that some of the docs can be pushy about trying to sell you more services, like invisalign braces and whitening, and we got some of that, but we say no. Wed give them 4-5 stars for the care.We gave them only two stars because of their unusually high prices!A family member broke a tooth and needed an implant. He got the surgery work done at an oral surgeons and then came to Smiles NW for the final work to prepare and install the new permanent crown. The friend who recommended the oral surgeon told us his dentist charged $1375 for this work. A co-workers dentist charged $1500, but THIS office charges $2900 for the exact same service!This is especially upsetting since Implants arent covered by insurance; payment is 100% out of pocket.We take good care of our teeth, and havent needed much dental work in the time weve been coming here. All of our routine exams have been covered by insurance, which pays a contracted rate, so we didnt know how Smiles NW prices compared with other dentists until now. We learned that their prices, at least for implant work, are nearly double the rate of other comparable offices.We had such bad feelings about this, it made us feel like their values are tipped more towards making money than being a community dental care provider. We are looking for a new family dentist.

Dr Montrose filled a cavity with his assistant Lisa quickly and painlessly. It was hidden, and difficult to identify. The color match was excellent.

I went in last minute for a chipped tooth last year. The front office said they were in network for my insurance. I learned later they dont take insurance at all, so Im not sure how the miscommunication happened. Regardless, had I known they were out of network, I would (obviously) have found another dentist.When I finally spoke with them about paying a lower amount given the miscommunication, they chose instead to send my account to collections!Collections agencies pay 10% (or less) for past due balances, so Smiles NW chose to get only $50 (10% of the $500 they said I owe) rather than work with me on a lower amount (certainly more than $50!). Their decision doesnt make financial sense for them and seems almost spiteful given the only other thing that happens is a negative mark on my otherwise clean credit report.

Smiles NW has been top notch, they have been extremely helpful in fixing my sons chipped teeth! Both my boys have said they wouldnt want anyone else but Katie Cottet with their semi annual check-ups!

Firstly, I get businesses need to make money, but when as a customer you are uncomfortable and don’t want to stay with that dentist, then they should respect that. I have made that clear and they continue to email, text, call and leave voicemails about getting me back in for the last 3 months.Two reasons why I won’t and don’t want to go back:1.) Charging for unnecessary treatments and on the higher end WITHOUT explanation that is clear. I got a second opinion, and I don’t need the treatment they pushed on me.2.) Receptionists calling me after I responded to not wanting to come back, and trying to scare me that I have “bone loss.” Why would a receptionist tell me this after one initial visit and she’s not a dentist? I don’t have bone loss - what kind of tactic is this? Good god.Stop calling me and bothering me when I made it clear multiple times I will not be a repeat customer. Ya’ll lost me on getting unsolicited “diagnosis” by your pushy receptionist(s).

Coming to Smiles Northwest was hands-down the best dental experience Ive ever had! Ive never been a fan of going to the dentist, but coming here is the most spa-like, relaxing experience you could hope for when going to the dentist! The staff are all super friendly, and I like that the practice is a family business. Dr. Jeremy Montrose did my exam and was very professional and friendly, as was everyone I spoke to there. I was a little early, so while I waited they took me to a massage chair in the office and dipped my hands in paraffin wax while I waited. Yes, thats right, I got to relax in a massage chair and get my hands softened at the dentist! Then, when I was getting my teeth cleaned, I realized the chair I was laying on was a massage chair as well - I couldnt believe it! Plus, I like that they have TVs you can watch while your teeth are getting cleaned. The office was bright and clean and I felt like I was in good hands, taken care of, and with a dental practice I could trust. I will definitely be back!

My jaw had bothered me for years. I was having headaches on a daily basis and migraines multiple times a month due to the pain. Thanks to Dr. Alan Montrose for providing me with TMJ therapy and a dental Orthotic my jaw no longer bothers me and I am headache free. Miracle workers! I have suffered with headaches for over the past 10 years. And not just one per month, or one per week... Im talking every single day, from the moment I woke up to when I could finally go to sleep, I always had a headache. Knowing that clenching was a major contributor, I have also worn a nightguard for many years. However, the nightguard alone didnt seem to be working. So I asked the dentists at Smiles NW to take a look. With their extensive knowledge in neuromuscular therapy, they determined that I was holding my jaw in a certain way that kept my muscles firing at all times, causing headaches. Going through neuromuscular therapy, I have not had a single headache in the last two months! I didnt realize how much pain I had been in until I was finally pain-free. I highly recommend Smiles NW!

Never again. Not patient friendly. I have been going there for years and they have the Highest charges around and unwarranted services are pushed on patients. If you do go, never make an appointment 6 months out for ANY reason, if you miss appointment it is 50.00 dollars to you.

Its always a Pleasure to visit Dr. Montrose, he is my dental for the last 15 yr! Today was my second visit at the new location after a long time.
