I came to Maria when I was at one of the lowest points in my life following a series of major life changes. But after our first session I could tell that I had found the person who would help to pull me out of the dark hole Id buried myself in. With her help, Im developing skills and learning new ways to cope with everything Ive gone through along with changes that continue to arise in my life. Ive only been seeing her for a short time and have already noticed a change in my overall mental health. I cant wait to see my progression as I continue to meet with her. I cannot recommend Maria to people enough, its because of her that Ive gotten to such a happy and positive place in my life.

Ive been going to Dr Maria for premarital couples counseling. Shes very perceptive and can get to the heart of an issue quickly. She teaches my partner and I how to communicate better. She never blames either of us but rather helps us understand where the other is coming from. I cant recommend her enough, shes one of the best therapists Ive ever had!!

I was a first time mother & I knew I needed the help, since then I can see an entire transformation on how I’m thinking, reacting and feeling. Dr. Maria has helped me tremendously. Always nice and happy to hear all my shenanigans. What I love the most about Dr. Maria is not just talking, she sets out a plan on different areas and issues and checks them off as we go. Definitely recommend her to any and everyone I meet. Even if you don’t think you need a “shrink” or therapist, she’ll definitely help you in ways you might not even realize. After the tragic, sudden loss of my 16 year old son to suicide, Dr. Maria Williams is helping me to get through the toughest battle of my life. As you can imagine, I am dealing with many emotions that have an affect on my work and my life in general. She didn’t waste anytime, giving me a proper assessment, so that I could have a treatment plan tailored for me. Through her assessment I was diagnosed with PTSD, which includes stress, anxiety and depression. Dr. Williams is very knowledgeable and shared some of her personal experiences with grief and life challenges associated with grief. This made talking with her relatable and gave me another level of comfort Dr. Williams is very professional and respectful... it seemed like I was speaking with a friend during my sessions, which gave me the right level of comfort I needed and while also providing a safe space for me to open up about my issues associated with grief and my personal life. Although grief is a vicious cycle that is never ending, I now have some skills to continue living through grief. Thank you Dr. Williams!! Highly recommended!!! :)

I am new to the Baton Rouge area and was seeking to find a therapist for the first time in my life. I called the Relationship Institute to make an appointment during the summer. I spoke with the therapist and she was very nice, and told me to fill out a questionnaire and to call back in a few minutes to schedule an appointment. I did exactly that, filled out a 20 minute questionnaire detailing some very personal information. I called back and no one answered. Left a voicemail and no one called back. I called a few more times and never heard back from anyone. It’s a little upsetting that no one cared to call back. Getting this type of response from a place that is supposed to help you was surprising and a bit upsetting. I would have expected at least a phone call if the therapist was not taking new clients. Like I said, the therapist seemed nice but didn’t make me feel welcomed.
