Mark was so wonderful to work with and I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for family portraits or any kind of professional photos. He is truly wonderful at what he does but more importantly, super easy going and his presence makes what could be an uncomfortable situation completely fun instead. My husband always dreads family photos as he feels they can feel staged or contrived but even he commented that Mark was so likeable and easy to talk to, that taking photos was actually an enjoyable experience. On top of it, we received a ton of photos that we absolutely love and cant wait to hang up around the house. Looking forward to working with Mark for many years to come as our family grows and we need updated images!

We recently had the pleasure of having our family portraits taken by Mark Hensel and we couldn’t be more pleased with the whole experience. We have two young children- 10 months and 2½ years, so getting a time slot that would allow the kids to be photogenic (shall we say), was important. Mark was very flexible with allowing us to pick a time that would work for us.Mark greeted us very warmly upon our arrival to his studio and allowed us to settle in while we talked about our expectations of what we wanted to have done. We weren’t really sure what we had in mind, as this was the first time we’d done our whole family. He threw out some ideas – of how we could take pictures in pairs, individual shots, all of us, etc… and allowed us to decide how we’d proceed. I felt he was making some good observations of the kids while we were chatting, because as soon as he was interacting with our toddler he seemed to know just the approach.The hour-long session seemed to fly by. Mark was snapping away at every moment – both when we were posing and also when we were just kind of interacting in our normal ways as a family. He did a great job keeping things rolling- changing lighting, props, a back drop- all while we just kind of did our thing. I was really thankful when he suggested and took photos of me and my wife together. We hadn’t done those since before the kids- it felt good, and wouldn’t have crossed our minds without his recommendation.When we left we couldn’t wait to see the final product. It was only about a week before we got an email from Mark telling us that all the photos were available to view and we could choose the ones we wanted for further touch up/editing. To say we were pleased with the photos is an understatement. His eye really captured our family – our children especially. To get them to feel comfortable and smile genuinely can be a challenge in any environment- let alone in a new place with a new person. You’d have thought these photos were taken from a day-long session by a family friend.Finding a good photographer is a bit like finding a good contractor. You go with a referral, and then hope for the best. I have no doubt that in referring friends and family to Mark Hensel, they won’t need to hope. He’ll deliver an experience that is memorable, and capture the moments themselves beautifully. We’ll be seeing him again.

We had our first session with Mark just before Thanksgiving. He is a true professional. He suggested venues that reflected what we had in mind. Mark had a great approach, quickly developing rapport with our toddler son, making the session fun, so that he could get smiles and expressions that really captured our sons personality. We look forward to doing another session with Mark. It was our best photo session experience.

I found this photographer on a Google search, I was looking for a professional in the Chicago-land area for actor headshots. He was the most affordable bid closest to my home area so I went with him. He scheduled us 3 days after first, we had our proofs on email the same day! Tons of great photos to choose from. Once I finalized my choices, he had the final copies ready for download the same day. I just picked up my prints from the photo shop and I couldnt be happier! Great experience! I highly recommend Mark Hensel!
