We have rented from them for going on 4 years now in two different locations. They are amazing to work with and very fast to come help with an issue. Which there is not normally many of. The property manager provides his home cell number for if something happens after business hours or if you need immediate help which has been a life saver for the occasional issue that does pop up. They are always there within 30 minutes at most. Very understanding and we have been able to keep our beagle without an issue at both locations. When we needed a bigger space for our expanding family they found us a new apartment in a month. They have always been so easy to work with and right on top of everything. I even had my car broken into and within a day they installed cameras in the parking lot for us, the service is top notch and the men who do the work are always so friendly and accommodating. I would recommend and do to all my friends/even when I see someone looking online for a good landlord. Until we buy a home we will rent from them

I rent with this company, and they are very responsive through the app and email in my experience. They have accommodated maintenance requests and are very easy to deal with.

My significant other has been renting from this company for over two years. At first it was great when Larry was the property manager but after he moved out of state, the ladies in the office seem to do what they please. Come to find out, they will hold apartments for office workers friends and coworkers. Their newest employee from Arizona moved to Maine and started working for the company and was given an apartment other long-time renters were waiting years for.We were interested in renting an adjacent unit they own and were told that she could not be placed on the waiting list because her account was delinquent due to late payments. Their own lease defines late as payments made on or after the 15th of the month. She has never made a late payment under this definition. When asking for clarification, she was told that they consider any payment made after the 1st of the month to be late, in direct contradiction to the terms of their own lease. When confronted with this fact. Amy (the employee we spoke to) refused to look at the lease because she was busy. The second reason my s/o was given for not being put on the list was because she applied for and received Rental Assistance through Maine States Rental Assistance Program during COVID. M.R.S. §4581-A (4), makes it illegal for any renter or seller to refuse to sell or rent to someone based on the fact that the renter received or has received governmental assistance.The employees here are catty, petty, and self-deal to themselves and their friends when it comes to renting out the good apartments that the company owns.

The worst company I have every had to work with. First there was Steve who threatened to evict us because we filled out a maintenance survey “that was sent to us to review the work that was done” the work was horrible and I had to fix it and use my money to do so. Then we get the opportunity to move into a different building and get told that we can paint it whatever colors we want. We also get told that if we get paint on the carpet not to worry about it that we won’t be charged regardless of the amount (since Steve saw what had gotten on the carpet)... Then Matt took over. I don’t know who was worse. Matt for sure, he does not honor any previous agreements that Steve had, is unwilling to listen, unwilling to work with anyone. Do NOT rent from this company. I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst coworker. They are nothing but money hungry!

They are very kind and reliable, decent priced and family oriented. I have been with these people for 5 years, two different properties and they have never done my family & I wrong. As long as you are a good person and respectful you should have zero problems. Thank you DES property for all you do!

Rented from DES Properties from January 2017 to May 2017. While I was there, I lost electricity to my refrigerator 3 times and because I had to wait days before they would reset the circuit breaker, each time I lost all my food that I had in the fridge. Twice during the winter they plowed a huge snow bank right in front of my car so that I couldnt get it out. In April 2017 they called and told me there would be a surprise inspection. No problem for me, and Steve called me after and told me my apartment looked awesome. So imagine my surprise when I gave my 30 days notice when I moved out (which is what was agreed on), and I couldnt get my security deposit back. I called twice a month for 6 months to find out when I would receive my deposit back. First I was told it would be in that weeks check run. After that, they wouldnt answer the phone and would not return my calls (I left voice mail messages several times). I messaged them through their website also, still no response. So I basically just gave up. I would never rent from them again and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Rented for 1 year with very little problems. The faucet and toilet leaked when moving in but they promptly replaced both. They will let you live quietly in your own place and only reach out when absolutely necessary

BEWARE SLUM LORD:Wasnt a tenant for more than 4 months nothing was ever fixed correctly we had multiple maintenance problems when we moved in that werent addressed until over a month l8r they dont plow until 5 PM so if you work in the morning you might as well call out, they do not sand the driveways making them very hazardous the potholes in the driveway almost bottomed out my car multiple times, they charge to much and did not disclose legal information that tenants have the right to know about not only the landlord who has the keys to every apartment but the maintenance man as well (please do a back ground check especially if you have children!) Our rent was always on time regardless of what was wrong with the apartment when we moved in, we were respectful tenants, kept to ourselves, and kept the apartment clean and damage free other then a window that was accidentally broken due to it not being sealed into the frame correctly (I had it professionally looked at) they just point blank do not keep up on these places they have over 50 buildings in bangor area and also go by QUEEN City properties. RENTERS BEWARE

AWFUL. Worst apartment, neighbors and landlords I’ve ever had. We made numerous complaints about cockroaches, our driveway not being plowed and moved out with 7 months. Still waiting for our security deposit since we moved out over 30 days ago and they won’t even response back to us.Also made complaints about our neighbors who made racial slurs to me and my wife, partied ALL the time, could hear them beating their girlfriends (called the cops) and NOTHING WAS DONE.Do not rent from DES., we could not move fast enough.Awful landlords, properties and management.

Bring my grandson here to pay his rent when necessary.

They were great land lords :) I lived in one of their units for a year and when ever I needed help they were there to help me within a few hours. They had to be the best company I rented off of in the Bangor Brewer area.

This company either has poor internal communication or is lacking in basic business courtesy. After rescheduling a showing (which took 2 phone calls and an email to set up), I received a phone call the day of the new showing telling me the property had been rented. When I expressed my confusion, having been told the day of the appointment was the earliest day available for showing and the fact that the company professes to conduct thorough background investigations (which certainly take longer than 24 hours), Steve said he didnt know why Id been told that, but its been rented. He seemed oddly interested in knowing exactly which site Id found the listing and didnt remember speaking with me 2 days earlier. I would not recommend this agency to anyone considering housing in the greater Bangor area.More research reveals at least 3 names for the entity. 3 red flags imho.

TERRIBLE customer service from this company... I was attempting to rent one of their vacation properties near Bar Harbor, ME. Over the phone, I was promised the current rates would apply for the following year. I was promised that the property would be held for our group of 12. I was promised to receive a contract via email, that reflected these details.... After a full week of multiple calls to DES Properties (always speaking with the same employee, too....), I still had no contract, and they never seemed to remember who I was or what property/dates I was interested in. In the end, I was told that I could not have the rate that I was promised, and to check back later to see what the new rates would be.... Again, TERRIBLE customer service from DES Properties... Very disappointing.

Rented a place. 2 bedroom 1400. We didnt have heat for almost the whole winter. Did not have the ability to have a phone or internet for 2 months. They tried to make us pay for repairs on the apartment prior to us moving in. (Put in phone and internet wires. Connect the stove. Fix a huge hole in the closet.) The property manager is a convicted child rapist in Florida. Great person to trust with keys to dozens of apartments that might have children. Unsafe living conditions if you have kids. This is my second apartment and all I could say is that this apartment was awful. The landlord seemed to half ass any issues that were wrong in the apartment. There were no window screens on a good portion of the windows due to previous attempts of criminals trying to break in. During the winter our heat was not working in most rooms and when we let our landlord he said he would have someone come look at it then proceeded to hand us a space heater. The work order never went through and we had to deal with pipes freezing more than half the time. We went to speak to our landlord about cutting our lease short and he said that we would not be penalized and would get out deposit back. I cleaned the apartment thoroughly in hopes of making sure that we would get the deposit back. About a week later my roommate received a letter saying that we are not getting our deposit back. DES Properties is poorly ran and I strongly recommend to not rent from this company.

DES PROPERTIES LLC is the best apartment rental company I have dealt with since I started renting years ago. The staff is totally professional. Their property manager, Steve, was nothing but professional and curteous! Jakes customer service skills were right on! We had a few times when we needed to contact the property manager about problems we were having and their quickness to respond and address our problem made our heads spin. Quick, precise and professional! When looking for places I saw negative reviews about DES, but keep in mind, MOST PEOPLE ONLY WRITE REVEIWS WHEN THEY HAVE A NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE. Our experience has been nothing but positive over the past 11 months!! We will be renewing our lease for another year in the next few weeks.

This rental company is super disorganized. They dont respond to emails or phone calls. When you try to leave a message you cant. Im so disgusted with their poor communication I dont plan on even following up to set up an appointment to view the apartment.

I recently have just finished renting from this company, and for my first apartment I have to say this may have been the worst first landlord I could have had. Before we even had a chance to move our things in, there was a break in to the property, the perpetrator cut a whole in our window screen to break in. Instead if replacing the screen, he gave us a small removable screen to use (I was not surprised, however, because half of the windows in the apartment did not have screens anyway). The heat in our apartment did not fully work for our first 6 months, and when we reported it, they came and said they would be back to fix it and left us a space heater. Months later they came back to fix it, only because our ceiling began to leak (they came back just after the peak winter months mind you). Another incident occurred when water started pouring from our ceiling near the basement. I called 4 separate numbers before I finally called their emergency line. They sent someone to take a look at it, the maintenence guy said he would be back before the end of the week to fix it. And sure enough, he didnt come. I tried to be understand and patient, but when you have to sit in the freezing cold for months it makes it hard to be as forgiving. And on top of it all, we didnt recieve our deposit back, even after doing a deep cleaning of the apartment, making sure it was ready for the showings coming up soon. Please learn from my mistake, and do not do business with these irrisponsible people.

Worst company in Bangor to rent from . The apartment was in the same condition when we moved out as when we moved in. They stole our security deposit to fix up the apartment better then when we had it . Seeking lawyer and class action suit as I am sure they have done the same to others .

Worst landlords in the greater Bangor area. Does not follow through with maintenance requests at all and provides unsafe living environments for their tenets. Currently in the process of contacting the city for zoning issues and going against the landlord. Do not rent from them
