I wanted to find the cause of a rattle. We went for a ride and it was not loud enough to diagnose. Scotty was so nice to take time for me, I got underneath the car and looked myself. Even though it’s a mystery noise, excellent experience, I would recommend highly.

I cannot say enough good things about Scotty and his workmanship. I had both my daughters car as well as my own towed here after some foreign substance was put in both our gas tanks. He proceeded to have my daughters car up and running within a day or two at an extremely reasonable price, because I filed an insurance claim on mine it took a little longer as he negotiated with the insurance company on my behalf to cover items that they were refusing to cover. Being a woman I have had difficulty in the past finding trustworthy and honest mechanics to work on my vehicles....I feel so fortunate to have found Scotty and his shop, will definitely be returning for all my automotive needs!

I called to see if my work was under warranty and told him that my a/c was still not working after two trips to his shop and 1200.00 later it still doesnt work. Its only been 3 months since my last visit and I told him it never worked but I cant keep affording to come in. He yelled at me on the phone told me he wont check it out unless I can afford his time and repairs. I told him how will I know how much its going to be and how much I need to save up, unless you check it out. He was so rude to me and he is way overpriced. Unless you have money to throw away I wouldnt go to this mechanic. Also he was going to charge me 1200.00 to fix my stabilitrak and all it needed was brake fluid.

I would take my vehicles to any other Auto Repair Shop. Scott all does great work at fair prices.

We were new to Bakersfield and needed a place to take our cars for a oil change and future repairs and we found scottys this place is great, I took my kia suv in for a oil change and he was so nice and honest and the price was right. He wont over charge he knows his stuff. We have had other repairs done and we are happy, I highly recommend this place.

My Ac went out after 45 days and he was very rude to me when I called and i felt like he was yelling at me. Scotty I was nice to you always. Idk why you treated me bad. Dont get me wrong i thought i found a great auto repair guy but he treated me very badly and made me cry when he scolded me basically. I wish he handled that better because I really liked him as my auto repair guy. Dont get me wrong Im sure for others he can do a great job and be nice to you.

I recently had a non appointment repair done that I was told by a Mazda service manager that nothing was wrong with my brakes. I knew something was wrong and Scott was able to diagnose that my cars brakes were going bad. My vehicle was repaired extremely fast and I was back on the road. No more 2015 car with embarrassing noise coming from the wheel. Scott is a stand up guy. Ill be going to him for future repairs.

My mom and I were traveling (relocating) from San Jose to Maryland and out of NOWHERE heard a crazy knocking sound from our car right before making it to Bakersfield—and with 2600 more miles to travel. Of course we panicked. Anyway, we found Scotty on Google and went to his shop first thing. True to his reputation he took excellent care of us within minutes (thankfully it was a very minor problem)! We are eternally grateful to you Scotty! For others reading this: THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER MECHANICS TO CHOOSE FROM but if you want someone smart, easygoing, and who won’t swindle you GO TO SCOTTY! Where to begin. I was on a business trip in L.A. and took my trusty old 99 Toyota Tacoma hauling a heavy load and made it to my location without a hitch. On my way home was a different story.As I proceeded to climb on the grapevine, I noticed that the temperature started to rise and was going into the red! I was able to pull over at a gas station thinking my fluids were possibly low. I waited for a bit and topped off the radiator and went on my way. I thought it did the trick until about 5 minutes later, the temperature started to climb north once again.Miraculously, I was able to hobble stopping every so often until I got to Bakersfield. At this point, I started to call friends that are mechanics only to tell me that it sounds like a major problem and to stay the night and have it looked at in the morning.The people at the hotel suggested Scottys and I figured Id give him a call. He didnt answer right away so I tried 2 other auto repair places and Scottys in between each call. One was a diesel mechanic and the other said he was booked for at least 2 days. On my third try, he answered and asked me to meet him in 30 minutes.Scotty looks it over and gave me some possibilities as well and actually dropped some of the other vehicles he was working to diagnose my vehicle.He found the problem and actually saved the day for me! He could have easily made money from me by telling me that the work needed was the same as what my mechanic friends told me. He opted to be honest rather than trying to make some extra money on someone he will never see again. His rates were exceptional and his work is very good. I drove into the parking lot and Scotty heard my car before I even parked. He immediately told me that it was probably a broken timing chain or worse, and that in the end repairs would cost more than the car was worth. His assistant checked more closely and said the same. Then Scotty gave some advice on which cars I might want to look for for maximum reliability, apologized for bad news, and that was it. I really appreciate an honest mechanic who doesnt want to waste your time and money, and I would definitely go here again.

Short version: Scottys Auto Repair is a inexpensive auto repair thats convenient, a good price, and best of all, run by someone who really knows what hes doing. Scotty is very responsive to calls and texts, and responded within a few minutes every time. The shop is in a good location with plenty of parking too, literally right off the main freeway. He even checked and topped off my tires to get me ready for the trip back to San Diego. This kind of mechanic is sadly, a dying breed. Long version: I was driving from San Diego to San Francisco, when my worst nightmare happened. My car broke down about 70mi from Bakersfield, in what was essentially the middle of nowhere. My oil pan had 1 inch hole, cut by a piece of debris in the road. After calling AAA roadside premier, which put me in a rental and asked me where to tow my car, I asked them to tow it into town, Bakersfield, while I drove off to San Fran. I called a couple places, and most were either closed on Saturday or didnt have the time, or were way too expensive. I called Scottys auto repair on Friday afternoon, and he was very helpful. When I mentioned I broke down while traveling and got stranded, he said he was able to squeeze me in on Saturday morning. This may not be that fast for everyone, as they seem to have lots of regular/long term clients, looking at other reviews. We discussed price and parts, and that was that. The next morning, I arrived in Bakersfield at 4am, hung out in the rental until thing opened, grabbed the parts, and headed to the shop. He was able to do the repair for a great price, and he charged a great price for the parts he did provide (Sealent, oil, many other shops overcharge). Within 3 hours of dropping it off, it was done, ran, tested, checked, and ready to go! Will I ever go back? Well, I dont live in Bakersfield, so HOPEFULLY not haha, but lets just Say I was lucky I broke down close to here. Oh, and if you have a AAA card, its AAA certified shop, so if you tell them on the phone, they will discount you a bit too.

The family and I were on our way to Disneyland from Oregon and our car started overheating,We didnt know anyone in Bakersfield so I decided to contact Scottys. Based on their rating I figure It would be a good place to take the car. Once I made it there Scott took the time to look at the car even though he was extremely busy and I didnt have an appointment. It turns out that with an overheating issue it could be many different things, I contemplated going back home to Oregon but Scott was nice enough to let me leave the car there while we went on to Disneyland. When we got back, the issue was resolved and we didnt have to give Scott an arm or a leg.I would wholeheartedly recommend this business to anyone. It is rare nowadays when someone doesnt try to take advantage of someone in need but rather tries to help you.Scott if you read this I wish you were here in Oregon! And once more thank your generosity and honesty.

Honest, and not looking to drain the bank.

We were on a long trip that had seen us drive from Las Vegas to Northern California and then as we were leaving Cali..My very loved 2002 Suzuki Xl7 finally pooped out ( It was pulling a Uhaul trailer for the first time ever) Lots of maintenance had already been done and we had just purchased a hitch for close to $400. So all in all we had spent thousands getting ready for our cross country trip that would see us in Florida..To our bad luck we only made it to Bakersfield from Sacramento. We were at a gas station looking for a mechanic but most were closed...Although it was Saturday. We got lucky and decided to try Scottys Auto Repair..He was busy but told us he would take a look at it.He did and even raised it and did a thorough inspection and said it needed expensive engine work and that was out of the question...We had already dumped enough money into it..Even had bought a used engine and we were heading to Panama..So we had no time for extensive work...We decided to buy another car from the lot directly on the same block as Scottys Auto Repair ( Not the one across the street ) and he checked that SUV out and said it was in great condition...We bought it and when we went to pay Scott for his inspections...He said..We didnt owe him a dime..Well its not many people you meet nowadays that show...the class... compassion... professionalism..integrity and honesty as Scott did...We are extremely thankful and grateful for all he did for us..Wish he was our regular mechanic..We highly recommend him and know you will be just as satisfied as we were..Thank you very much Scott...May you continue to be a blessing to others and may God continue to bless you and your lovely family.* ~ Harold & Mari G

Had an appointment for 8am on a Friday. Sat waiting outside his shop for 45 minutes, and he never showed up. Texted him and called him during that time, no response. Still havent had a response. Was a complete waste of my time on a Friday morning. Maybe hes a good mechanic, couldnt tell you, but the general air of unprofessionalism and complete lack of customer service has guaranteed I wont be be finding out.

Was traveling through to southern California, called about 7 am to get my brakes and rotors fixed because they were grinding really bad and had to get back on the road asap, he answered, told us to come in at 8 and he could do it then. Got there and he said he was going on a test drive, come back in 20. Came back and his daughter was very rude saying she had no idea when he would be back, then my friend asked 2 seconds later and said he was doing another drive check. Completely screwed us over on time and had to continue our travels on terrible brakes. Very unprofessional
