Lisa was the second therapist I tried for reunification with my kids. (check my reviews for the other one - if I get around to writing that review). After my first bad experience I did quite a bit of research on reunification therapy and what needs to be done to be successful. Then I went out to find someone who can actually help this time. From my research it appeared that Lisa Rothfus is one of the few really trained psychotherapists in the Austin area that specializes in helping parents reunite with their kids after a divorce, or, like for me, a period of estrangements from their kids. So I contacted her...I am so glad I did! She helped me better understand the situation I was facing with my kids, and coached me on how to respond differently when interacting with them. The she worked with the whole family (which wasnt easy) and was great with the kids, getting them to work well with the process. Im happy to say things have gotten much better with my kids, and in co-parenting with my ex. Heres some advice for you, if you need help, check out the credentials of the people who say they do reunification before you jump into it. Or better yet, just call Lisa.

My lawyer referred me to Lisa because she had heard that she specializes in reunification therapy and that is is important to have someone who really knows about the issues to work with. I tried to find a therapist through my insurance, but no one worked with this area of expertise. She was able to get me my first appointment within a week, but since then we have even met on Saturday sometimes. This was particularly helpful because we were coming from Dripping springs and I didnt want to take my daughter out of school unless it was absolutely necessary. She worked with the whole family and really understood how to help all of us through this transition. I definitely recommend her for reunification therapy.

Lisa was court appointed to take on our reunification case and I am so glad that we got to work with her. She was so knowledgeable about the process and walked us through every step. My son loved meeting with her, and she helped him with the anxiety he felt over the reunificationprocess. She always kept me informed about what was happening, and got back to me promptly when I needed to talk with her. You can tell that she has a lot of training in working with high conflict cases.

Lisa Rothfus was part of the scam run on my family during our divorce.She was very well spoken and spoke a good song to gain the trust of my brothers kids.The court appoints a GAL to advocate for the child’s “best interests”instead of asking the children for direct input. Lisa Rothfus then bills theparents for asking other strangers appointed onto the case what’s best for the children.The GAL has the exclusive right to speak on the child’s behalf, yet there are no requirements as to how much time a GAL must spend with either children. Lisa did not bother to speak to a single teacher, extra curricular activity teachers or a single person in the paternal family. The decision was already made by her & she kept the charade going billing the family in the guise of representing the best interests of the child.Lisa did everything possible to destroy the relationship the children had with their father & the entire paternal family and despite a rampant campaign of Parental Alienation that the mom against the father, Lisa did not do a thing to prevent it. As GAL, Lisa billed the children’s home at a rate of $250 per hour to represent the children’s wishes and best interests.The children were doubly traumatized not only by the crimes perpetrated against them, but also by the fickle will of the courts to intervene on a moment’s notice and upend their lives without including them in these decisions that Lisa contributed to.

Lisa is a very skilled family therapist that has extensive training and understands complex family dynamics. She is very good at maintaining her professional role while also dealing with hard topics, especially with children. She sometimes incorporates games and art into sessions with the kids to make it more enjoyable for them and to give them a creative outlet. I highly recommend her!

Although my family is still working on issues I can say with absolute confidence that I would not have the relationship I do today if I had not worked with Lisa to reunify with my children. She understood issues about this situation that other therapists did not, and walked us all through the process. Without her continued patience and dedication I would not be in a position to confront and deal with the traumatizing and confusing situation I have found myself in due to my divorce. She has a great talent that I feel all kinds of estranged parents and children can benefit from.

Lisa seems like a caring and charming individual who really cares about her patients. Except its all for the show. As a guardian ad litem (GAL), Lisa very intentionally destroyed any and all level of trust between the parents, caused very long lasting emotional damage to the children, and to top it all, at the end, refused to return remainder retainer. She INSISTED that kids MUST be lied to. She conducts 3 hour interrogation of 12 year old kids in her office - intentionally scaring them, etc. (update) Lisa, its not me who had bad experience with your service ... its everyone who comes in contact with you - interestingly, you did not address a single point that I brought up.

Lisa is very unprofessional. She has hurt children/family units by putting parents against each other. This helps her bottom dollar. Record all verbal interactions with Lisa to cover yourself, subpoena her records and email as much as possible to avoid confusion for her with facts. Her bills are outrageous and vlad we should talk. I feel for your family and understand the situation. She care more about money than humanity and goodness in the world. Proceed with caution when allowing her into your child(ren) life(s).
