When a business estimates the cost will be between a high and low range, I always assume I will be charge the high end of the range.The final bill was $100 BELOW the low end of the range. I was referred to Flashback Data from two other data recovery places that did not have the resources to retrieve data from my very damaged hard drive. Because of this, I had high expectations/hope for recovery and had already been through some frustrating processes of being turned away or given an outrageous quote. Flashback Data seemed to be in the sweet spot of excellent service with fair prices.William, the customer service rep./liaison, was who I interacted with the most. He was excellent. The first time I had called around, looking for quotes, he was very honest with what they could do and was incredibly informative. He even remembered my case later on and helped to walk me through the process of submitting my ticket and shipping the damaged & backup drive (because of the social distancing enforcement). Once the hard drive got to them, they were quick to give me a quote as well as the diagnosis of my drive. Though a bit pricier than I expected, I understood this was a small price to pay for extremely valuable data and hours upon hours of hard work. Their website was great for tracking the progress of it all and was easy to use/understand. They finished recovering the data that same day they got it and William was able to ship both drives to me, free of charge.Unfortunately, upon arrival/plugging the backup drive with recovered data into my computer, the drive was unreadable- I was in disbelief. It did not work in any port or when I tested it on different computers. I called the line and Damon informed me that that was very unusual and it was probably my hard drive that was faulty. I wasnt so sure about this, as the backup drive was *brand new*. He told me I would have to send it in again so that they could see, but stated that mailing it again would be very slow, and that I should just drop it off if I wanted it faster. At this point, I just wanted my data once-and-for-all/after everything I had been through previously, so I agreed to drop it off.They called to update me later that their technician did not copy it in the right format for some reason and that it should be good after recopying. I am not sure how this mistake couldve occurred and I wish this was double-checked before it was sent to me the first time. Once again, I had to pick it up. The location is a bit far for me so it was 4 trips to and from the office to drop it off and pick it up. On top the time I had already spent on this, I wish they wouldve offered a discount or to pay for priority shipping for me for my inconvenience. However, I do understand that these are complicated times and they were able to successfully retrieve all my data. This one hovers between a 3.5-4 star rating for me. The actual service & pleasant interactions with William were the positives. But all the back-and-forth/copying mistake was not expected.

Flashback data is an incredible business. From the very beginning they kept me in touch of what was going on and how to do what was needed, how long things would take and what my options were. My laptop crashed and I sent the removed hard drive to Flashback Data in Austin after getting a brochure from a local computer repair shop. This is a personal computer, not business related. I was really worried about family photos that I might not have saved elsewhere. While these photos are of great sentimental value to me, I simply cannot afford to pay $700 to save them. That being said, I called them, and they were very nice and understanding on the phone, and they apologized that the price range wasnt clearer up front. They did a good job explaining the price and the options available. I still decided to have my drive sent back without doing the recovery for now. Im sure this is a great service for a business or someone in a situation where they cannot afford to lose the data, but if youre like me, this service (and Im sure others like them) might be too expensive. Put the drive aside and start saving money, I guess.

Flashback tried their best to rescue 8 months of data off of a Mac with a dead SSD drive. No luck due to an unformatted HD, BUT these guys were super fast and very attentive in trying to help me out, and didnt charge me a dime for some hard work. I had a problem with files that were encrypted by malware. Eric was very responsive in answering my questions and explaining the issues. He responded promptly (on a Sunday) and went above and beyond in evaluating my drive to identify the problem. Everyone I dealt with in the office was professional and courteous. Although he was not able to recover my data, I would definitely work with them again in the future. The customer service was excellent, and they are a reputable organization.

Flashback Data its a great company, with great employees who really care about their customers. After a total loss fire, I took all my hard drives to Flashback for recovery. I was recommended to them by another data recovery company that was closer to me, but they said that I needed to take my stuff to flashback. A competitor that so highly recommends another company, that says a lot. While we didnt have 100% recovery, the experience I had with them was stellar. Hands down would recommend them for any type of electronic data recovery. They have their own forensic level lad in house, no question about the safety of your information while its in their hands. Every employee I came into contact with, was awesome.

Flashback did a great job!!!! I had an external har drive that got some mildew on the circuit board. They recovered it easily, gave great options for recovery devices endgame me a customer centric recommendation. The process was quick and everything was explain thoroughly by each person along they way. I was very impressed that not a single person dropped the ball or was unresponsive. Their prices were lower than (or on par with) the 3 other companies I looked into. I chose them for that and they were in Texas.

Flashback Data is the best data recovery service in town! I called them based on a recommendation for my IT specialist. They were able to recover 1TB worth of video footage for me only a couple days after I delivered my drive. Their customer service is fantastic, and they walk you through the entire recovery process (even allowing you to preview a list of the recoverable data before you pay!) Talk about painless data recovery. Had a corrupted SSD with loads of data and the usual service providers quickly gave up. But they did recommend Flashback Data and, boy, Im so thankful for that. We are an IT company that sells backup services. One of our clients had an accident with a computer not covered by our service. FlashBack to the rescue. The drive was not physically damaged but it did have four significant issues. They were able to pull data off the drive. Both my team and my client are happy. the entire process was very straight forward and we received updates through out the process.

I experienced a mechanical failure of my hard drive on my personal laptop. Im a DJ and my external hard drive was malfunctioning! I took it to Best Buy and unfortunately they couldnt do anything with it! Visited Flashback Drive to recover vacation photos from a Terabyte. Cotni was friendly, answered my questions and addressed my concerns. We were able to view live updates, online, thru a customer portal as well as receive emails regarding those updates. The diagnostic was made within a few hours. Eric was professional, attentive and very informative. Unfortunately, the photos were unrecoverable due to a severely scratched disk but, we learned greatly from this experience.

My external hard drive experienced mechanical failure, but Flashback came through for me and recovered everything. At a price around $1,650, it had me running to the Wikipedia page on Crassus, but it did teach me a lesson in having an active backup policy. Through UPS with a tracking number, they returned the new hard drive (I left a 1 TB drive with them) and the old one. They also assured me that my data would be kept for two weeks past the return date, then scrubbed from their hard drive. They definitely know their business.

I accidentally kicked a flash drive while it was in one of my computers USB ports... BROKEN. I brought the flash drive in to Flashback Data and was incredibly pleased with their customer service starting with the moment I walked in. I am by no means a technology guru and sometimes feel uncomfortable or even stupid when I utilize the services of technological companies and/or IT, but the woman at the front desk, Jessica, very kindly dumbed everything down to my level. She walked me through their processes and made me feel very comfortable about leaving my media with them.Unfortunately Flashback Data was not able to retrieve the data off of my flash drive (the data chip was cracked and theres no going back after that), but they called me within a couple of hours of me dropping the drive off and kindly informed me. It almost sounded like they felt bad for me and actually sympathized with my situation, which I really appreciated. It truly feels like they value their clients.Although Im disappointed that it is impossible to retrieve the data, Flashback made the horrible experience of all of this a little less devastating and daunting. Flashback Data saved our company. When you have a server that crashes and you have 14 years of data stored in a single .dat file you tend to panic, particularly when you also find out the backup you thought was happening everyday behind the scenes, was turned off. First mistake? We panicked and we made poor decisions that ultimately cost us time and money. Had we gone to Flashback Data to begin with we would have been back in business quickly. Instead we opted to go with a different local company or should I say a guy who apparently works out of his home with a virtual office front.
