Will not use this software in my IT enviroment.
My daughter had a wonderful experience interning at Rapid7.
(I dont work here, and have no plan at present to do so... Yet)Rapid7 is, in my opinion, one of the best companies in the world, for various reasons and in several fields, almost all subfields within the InfoSec/Cybersecurity. If this were not Austin, Id say positive things about, say, their InsightIDR suite, which will be soon ubiquitous and, so I dearly hope, cleanse this septic generation of YouTube educated Script Kiddies. While this alone is a great and noble purpose for this transnational business, since we ARE in Austin, ignore everything positive Ive said. What earns 5 stars, and more, is that this is the branch that, through pluck and Austinian Virtue, created Metasploit. If you havent heard of Metasploit, you should. If you are a professional, you know you should use Metasploit Pro to help continue ijuots evolution.Without Metasploit, thered be no Kali Linux, no Mr Robot, no Parrot OS...simply put, modern hacker culture would not exist had this not been produced. Those that would argue this point, before developing notions, should consider how modern enterprise-ish networks would exist without Active Directory... Sure, LDAP Red Hat blah, and youre right.Without Metasploitable 3, many a modern white/grey hat simply could not afford to legally learn to recognize/detect intrusions, exploits, and hacks... Nor could they legally learn to think and act as a bad guy.As my beginning parenthetical stated, I dont heap praise on this most Awesometaciously Austin location to be obsequious or to get a job... No, as my ellipses and phrases like Awesometaciously Austin and lack of rhetorical purpose (etc, etc, et al) and atrocious grammar and ridiculously long-winded sentences and paragraphs should indicate: I could not get hired here. Im extremely competent, dont get me wrong, but itd crush me if I was rejected in application.... To be let go by them? Id likely seppuku once off premises.TL;DR? If you did a Google search for Rapid7 in Austin, youd note Im stating facts, albeit poorly. Since Kali Linux/Backtrack, and thus Offensive Security, wouldnt exist without them, and without them, no exploit-dB, and, according to my conversation with the man himself, without the Austin Rapid7, Johnny Long wouldnt have started Google Hacking.... I only mention those two because I just tandemed those for two minutes and among the trove Id fume found the (very temporary, since everyone in industry looks at the exploits dB) logins for the University of Texas VPN! I wont use them, because I havent been given permission, and theyve probably already expired. The above is a somewhat humorous take on what I see as a foundational pillar of modern cybersecurity, but dont get it twisted, Rapid7 is 133t ATX at its best, especially, apparently, to its employees. One day, when Im 70, Ill apply for an internship in their Brussels office. I speak Flemish, plus a lot of hackers have Brussels as FoB
