If you need a new death certificate good luck! 1 person processes death certificates for the entire state of Texas. I ordered additional ones after we received our order finally. I’m sure we won’t get these until next year. I’m going to the Governor since he overseas these state offices. This is so wrong. Do they not understand you cannot do anything to an estate without one?!? You can’t close things out, transfer the estate, get mentally ill people out of house they are tearing up that doesn’t belong to them. Do they just not get it!?! This office needs help!

I was able to call and get hold of someone without waiting. But every time I called in I got the same answer, they are still working on it. It has been more than 6 months since they cashed our check and we have not received our birth certificate amendment.

17 months and still no birth certificates the calling and pointless we are working on it is getting annoying. Then to blame the slowdown on covid as if we didnt start the process back in june of 19 is beyond me. They are quick to request payments and so forth but slow to get this done. Now baptism is on hold and ss cards just wait so no traveling.

I had a home birth baby, i sent in the paper work for a delayed birth certificate. It took a whole year for them to send me a letter in the mail stating that i needed more information, so i sent another money order in with all the information that the packet asked for . i waited 2 months again, i called to check and see if everything was okay with the papers i sent it . i was told that everything looked good, and that i dodnt need any more information & that i would be receiving my sons birth certificate . well, i waited again and i received another letter in the mail stating that they couldnt process my request. So i called and spoke to a lady & was told that she didnt know anything about it . and she just kept saying what does the paper say, just do what the paper says to do ive already did that & obviously i need to know exactly what i need to send in because this is ridiculous. Ive spent the last year & a half dealing with this place and ive gotten no where .

They should join the 21st century. Everything is slow and too much has to be done by snail mail. The workers have been nice though. But Texas, please join us in the 21st century. Everything should be done online by now.

My husband ordered a birth certificate back in August 2019 with expedited service and we still have not received it after 6 months. We have called numerous times but just get the run around. Guess we have to drive to Texas to get birth certificate in person, a two day drive. Need it for passport for travel in June. Can’t believe a government office can’t give you what you paid for in the time frame they promised

I mailed in forms for my sons new birth certificate after adoption and sent $49 in January, well in March they sent me form that I forgot to sign and requesting $47, I sent it right away and now June they requested $28 more!!! I sent forms back with copies of the checks that I have sent to them and asking for a call back of why more money is being requested and why I don’t have my child’s birth certificate after SIX months. Of course no phone call back so I called and they now say I don’t have to send more money that now I have to wait for process to finish so looks like IF I get it it will be in August. Why does it take soooo long for this and am I getting my money back because when I talked to someone in customer service they said all I should’ve paid was $47 not $95!!!

Called on behalf of an employee who needs a Birth Certificate to get his CDL. Waited on line for 30 minutes for someone to answer. It has been 3.5 months since he mailed in his request. (They told him it would be faster mailed and he paid for expedited shipping) I was told there were delays because of the holidays... hahaha. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they said they couldnt transfer calls. Ive dealt with many fine agencies in Texas. This is not one of them. They need some changes to become a better, more responsive organization.

Adopted my baby boy and finalized the adoption over a year ago. Sent in all required paperwork and paid for expedited service. Several months later, I received a letter stating we did not get a signature notarized properly. It took months for them to let us know there was an issue. Within days, we corrected the issue and sent everything back in. Finally, after being patient for the last seven months, I decided that I had no choice but to drive from Dallas to Austin to get my childs birth certificate. Why? We need to file our taxes. We must have his birth certificate to get his social security number which is necessary to file our taxes. Why drive? No phone number, no email to speak to someone to get help at the one office that can perform this function.Drove in today expecting to get this resolved. Just in case, I checked the website to make sure of the hours and any other instructions I may need. I arrive at 1:30pm at the Austin Texas Birth and Death Certificate building to find it closed. Closed for lunch? NO! Closed for Emancipation Day. Not one word about this on their website. I literally wasted a day driving because this beaurcratic office will not let anyone access them other than by mail or in-person, and they did not find it necessary (or even a courtesy) to let anyone outside their sphere know they would be closed. This is emblematic of our State bureaucracy. You are an embarrassment!

I applied in April and called today, June 24th and was told that it was still being processed. My son in law drove down for his and had it within a few minutes. I am out of time and will have to drive down to pick it up in person, with no guarantee I will get it. If the government wasnt a monopoly, it would go out of business very quickly!!!

I’ve called several times checking on the status of the birth certificate first they said they didn’t receive it then when I called a month later I was told they received it 2 months ago I called again and they promised I would have it between 3 to 4 months now i called again 5 yes 5 months later and they are telling me that those requests are taking longer and that i shouldn’t expect anything until 6 months or later. I don’t understand what is going on there if they are short staffed or just lazy. Please try to do better and have people that talk right and without attitude over the phone. I’m just as frustrated as you are with your job but if spoken to right don’t give attitude.

We ordered ad birth certificate on Jan 21, 2019. The response email said that it would take 20 to 25 business days. After 30 business days we called and were on hold for 30 min only to be told that it was processing. We waited another week and called again and were on hold an hour and a half!! We never got to talk to anyone that time! We used the email provided...3 times and NEVER got a response!!! Tomorrow we have to drive 4 hours to Austin to get it as we need to send the passport application off. We began this in Jan. It is now March 20! We are supposed to fly out to a training class in Nottingham England on May 15!!!

I have never been treated so horribly anywhere in my entire life. These people are negligent, rude, condescending and incredibly disrespectful. We ordered a birth certificate which was promised to us in 20-25 business days. Its been over 44 state business days now, and they have ignored our emails and most of out phone calls, stayed on hold for hours, only for them to not pick up the phone. When we finally got a hold of someone, she told us she would send it out in the next 2-5 business days. That never happened. We were advised by loval government officials to drive to this office, so we did. It is an 8 hour round trip, only for them to refuse service. They refused to even tell us the next step we needed to take to sort this mess out, and turned us away after waiting in line for HOURS, and they wouldnt even tell us why they wouldnt help us, or what we needed to do to receive help from someone, ANYONE.At this point, these people seem to be denying us service for jest. We have done EVERYTHING that has been asked of us, with perfect compliance. We have been told to wait, we have jumped through hoops, and we have been kind and gracious to every single person we have spoke to, and yet we have been treated like cattle. It is absolutely deplorable that a government office is permitted to treat people with this level of blatant disrespect. These employees are toying with VITAL records, and apparently that kind of behavior is permissable in government offices.

The worst service, I’m waiting for my baby birth certification amendment almost a year and I have been calling every week. There is no answer, just is on the process and no any reason. This process takes about 4 months, is too much, I’m really getting so stressed with this situation.

Dont trust this office when they say 20-25 business days for a birth certificate. Like other reviewers I have waited 37 business days for one to arrive and it has not. Fortunately I live in Austin and can go to this office. However the map says it is at 1100 W. 49th, while the website says it is at 7201 Levander Loop. I am trying to figure out where to go.
